So, my DNA screen cracked, as some of u may know. Well according to my tracking #, HTC got my device saturday, now i know they probably didnt even know it arrived until today. But i havent got an email, or a call from them yet. Have any of u dealt with HTC repair? And if so....did they contact u to let u know they recieved your device? Also, how are they to deal with? Were they efficiently fast? Thanks guys. Any replies with knowledge of HTC repair would be greatly appreciated.
I paid the full 600.00 retail for my DNA, and i was sure to put my receipt showing that in with the phone i sent them. Lol. So u can see why i would b a little worried about it.

Free. It wasnt my fault lol. It got hot while charging, i unplugged it and stepped out in the cold for a cig, i literally heard, and felt it crack in my hand. Theres no physical damage to the device. Its NEVER been dropped.

It is kinda your fault, if its not your fault, whose fault is it. You took a hot phone in the cold. Glass cracks with extreme temperature changes.
But 220 does sound very high. I would think more like 100

You might want to revise what you told HTC.
Ya, i saw that already, but in my defense.....the phone still got super hot when charging. Also, ive seen a few others with cracked screens already too!
I called htc to dispute the 220.00 fee. They are going to work with me, since they told me it was covered before i even shipped it to them.

Fighting a claim of "customer induced damage" is a *****. It's kind of a hostage situation. They have your phone and if you want it back repaired you have no choice but to pay up. If you choose not to they'll also charge you for shipping it back to add insult to injury. If they say no to a warranty claim it's still got to be repaired so you're kind of stuck. I hope it works out for you.
What can possibly make them repair cracked screen for free? Without any other signs of abuse? Any ideas?

When you get it back, fixed, get a squaretrade warranty on it. ADH is covered and they are quick to repair or pay you retail.
It is well worth the $100 bucks

Update! I just posted a video on my Liquipiel-ed Device.

Looks interesting but since I got my very first dumbphone I never had problems with getting water on it.
It opens up possibilities, but nothing I need at the moment.
Passing it on to my foolish friends though, so thanks for that!
No problem!
So it makes it water resistant but not proof right?

I want see more reviews as its really new. But This is real. And does work. Here is how.
Hydrophobic nanocules are applied via vacuum. Thus coating the outside AND INSIDE from water molecules (which are bigger than the nanocules) thus can't get in and create a conduction.
It is rated itx-7 meaning it is waterproof to up to 30min at 1 meter (3feet) depth... Jeez. So i wanna go swimming with it

Its not meant for warranty purposes.. This is just for anyone that wants to protect their device from water damage.
Im sure it voids the warranty..
*edit* .. I think they are also trying to get in with (somebody.. I forget, but they mentioned it at CES).. so that phones come with the Liquipel protection - which is a great idea but than the suppliers end up losing money because of not having to replace asany phones.. Not sure how it all works but somebody loses potential mula

i played with this stuff at CES this year. It was Fascinating! They used the stuff on a Napkin and had it sitting in a pool of water. When you pushed the napkin around in the water it never got wet and just rolled off (unless you were extremely harsh with it).
Quite impressive to see. You could also see the water interacting with the screen as it splashed against it (showing that its not just a "fake" cover)

I've just been reading up the Charge forums. So far, my impressions were not that of rude behavior though.
Nevertheless, there was a thread on an ICS ROM where it mentions
"For the haters: http://kan.gd/1e1t :-O"
So, I guess there are some rude whiners over there, at the least.
ok so i got this phone on the 5th i believe and ever since that day i have had a case on it but today i was with some people and they wanted to see how it looked without a case. so i took it off and gave it to him and while he was looking at it he turned to me and said "is this supposed to be bent?" so in shock i look at my phone and sure enough the metal bar or strip i guess you would say that is under the home button by the mic is dented toward the back of the phone. since im very careful with my phones and haven't dropped this phone at all and my og evo thats 2 years old doesn't have a scratch on it so i can't figure out where it came from.
so would i be able to take it to the sprint store i got it from and replace it? its just one of those things that once you saw it, it can't be unseen and its driving me absolutely nuts
isn't replacement only valid for 14 days ?
i had my evo 4g lte and 2 days after using it , it went dead.

Return to cancel is 14 days, replacement/exchange is 30 days
So you're going to take back what I'm guessing is a perfect running phone, cause a thin metal strip is slightly bent? Dude if you have no clue how it bent, then I'm sure eventually the new phone will probly bent at some point. Regarless I think you only had 14 days anyways and I'm sure the sprint store will blame you for the bent strip. I say put it and the case and forget it.

can it be exchanged to another device ?
i purchased et4g from sprint local store on 6/3 and the guy told me i have 14 days to cancel or exchange it. On 6/15 i exchanged the et4g for evo 4g lte, the sprint employee told me it doesn't extend the 14 days exchange period.

The insurance through asurion covers it. If you need a tech to fix it or replace it then that's a no go, as it is considered physical damage

Nothing a little duct tape couldn't fix! haha
But I dropped my first EVO LTE from the roof of my parents motorhome (about 10 ft. up) when it feel out of my pocket. I have the black tie protection plan from best buy and they ended up just giving me a new phone. I guess it was just too expensive or easier to just replace it. It fell flat on the screen and shattered the glass. Nothing else was damaged from what i could tell. I was surprised they didn't fix it though as it still responded to touch. I was even able to connect it to my tv using an MHL adapter and make a more recent backup before sending it in.

This is NOT true.
The insurance you have will transfer over to your new phone. I picked up a couple of S4's for my parents a week ago and the insurance stayed on their lines. It did this automatically once the phones were activated.

However if you buy a craigslist phone and attach it to the account. It will not be covered under insurance. Tried.

Great question! Your coverage is on the line, not the specific device. While we do cover the device active on the line at the time of peril, keep in mind you may be asked for a proof of purchase should you need to file a claim. We welcome you to review the terms and conditions of your coverage at phoneclaim. com. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thanks!

Not so sure of that. I latched on to mine via Craigslist. Happened to be a Verizon employee with an upgrade due and wanted some cash so I ended up with a brand new S4 and transfered my SIM from my Droid Razr Maxx to it and activated it. And whatever he did to help me with this process, was able to transfer my existing Asurion ins. to it.

Purchasing from a third party does come with inherent risks. For this reason, we encourage our customers to purchase directly from the carrier. If you have questions about your claim, one of our specialists would be happy to look into your claim for you. Please send us a direct message on Twitter @AsurionCares with your claim number and the best contact number for you. Be sure to include #xdaforum so we can easily identify your response. If Twitter is not convenient, we also welcome you to email the same information to us at [email protected]. Thanks!
Hmmm... Is it just me that's thinking this... but when we include #xdaforum in a message... they would know that we're rooted/modded and then decline the claim? I think everyone is pretty much rooted and their devices are modified in some kind of way. Nice try though...
It might be just me but I do not like the fact Asurion is starting to patrol xda... I might just be paranoid... Dam you NSA for making me paranoid

I actually think it's nice of them to help you out directly
not everyone wants to root their phone so I don't think everyone is affected but those who do.. I honestly don't know who to even ask lol

So in my case, I'm continuing to pay for insurance that won't actually provide me with coverage since purchasing from a Verizon Rep selling a brand new (his upgrade) S4 via craigslist. Hrmmmm, I've been bull****ted again..

Well, I guess it's time to call Verizon and drop paying for insurance that isn't going to work for me anyhow. The Verizon Rep (seller) lied to me. Live and learn I suppose.
I trade my iphone 5 for an s4 and the rep put it back on and asurion still backed itband sent me a new one this past week since I managed to crack the screen and digistizet

Actually I just called Verizon directly and explained the situation. They informed me that I am still covered under Asurion Insurance and it was simply a transfer from my previous device to this one SINCE my S4 was in a brand new state and I am the only one that ever activated via it's MIED # or whatever. Now for someone purchasing a "Used" device off ebay, craigslist, ect... the former issue of no coverage would be true in their case.
