[Q] Best KitKat Rom for Xperia U - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Ok hello everyone.
Firstly, If I have posted this in the wrong place, I apologise....I didn't come here to piss off anyone. There are so many posts I got confused.
So I've been using [SXU]Infinity Rom v3 by acervenky. Its the best ICS Rom in my personal opinion, the most stable I found so far (I use it with Greenify). Oh and I have unlocked bootloader.
Now I dont test roms or develop stuff and when it comes to tech stuff consider me a newbie....just regular guy wanting to use KitKat on his Xperia U for daily use, which eats less ram, is stable enough, and I really love themes and stuff but performance is priority.
So which of these would you guys recommend that I can flash for daily use:
1. XNovathor Project 4.4.2 V2 (because who doesn't like a lot of ram...)
2. CarbonRom KK RC1 [ARM-EABI] (because it looks supercool like batman)
3. Unofficial SlimKat (kumquat) [RC2] [BUILD 3 - 1MAR] (because as they say its really slim? and looks good too)
4. AOSB Project v1 (because it has tons of features)
As you can see I like all of these, but I'm not sure cause I don't really have that expertise to judge it well.
So what do you guys say?
Which one should I use?

I prefer cm 11
But according to Ur 4 roms i prefer carbon or slim ROM
Slim ROM for smoothness
And Carbon for performance and stuffs
U can use my Resurrection Rom too But wait for next update

Thanks a ton man, I think I'll try Carbon first....if I don't like it, I'll go for slim ROM. And yes, I'd definitely like to try your ROM too...:good:

Ques regarding SlimKat Rom
Has anyone here flashed slimkat rom.?? I am having some issue.

I have been use AOSB rom version 1
I think mild and tolerable with no lag. but I got a problem when trying to type. Virtual keyboard appears rather old.

I've used the CM11 for ~3 months now, and IMO it's the best one
Inviato dal mio Xperia U utilizzando Tapatalk

Of those I prefer Slim... but 4.2+ has Bluetooth audio problems so I avoid them (and no non-Sony ROM I've seen has a working half-press camera button...)

Maclaw Kitkat 4.4.2 for Xperia U; should I update?

Hello... Currently I have an old old CM9 based rom installed, and I'm thinking of an upgrade. I've been reading development forums regulary and Kitkat roms seem pretty fast... Are all the basic things working on the latest Maclaw Kitkat 4.4.2 ROM? WiFi, and camera (for pictures, don't need video recording). And do I install the version on Maclaw site or can I get a newer better version, and where do I get it
@bir00
the holy grail in kitkat is the OMX (without that you can not use youtube), new maclaw fix it but don't share his sources to other developers, they have failed to advance.
according I read the latest version of maclaw have bugs with OMX, the bluetooth don't work properly, the wifi works well and the camera can only take pictures.
I used carbonRom version, is amazing, has OMX problems, but with a patch of gigitux you can see youtube in CM 11 or CarbonRom,is the best ROM I've used of kitkat.
the decision is yours.

I don't have this problem in carbonRom, in CM 11 I don't know (Xu)

So, the question should be Maclaw CM11 or CarbonRom? I will wait for more replies, it would be nice to see which ROM is the best for speed/stability. I'm assuming Kitkat is the way to go for Xperia U, cause of good memory management. And in my experience low RAM is the only hardware issue with my little phone
@Kobalto07 I use CarbonRom but when I reboot my phone apps that are installed on sdcard disappear.
I think that CarbonRom has better RAM management but maybe this is because i do clean install. For me CarbonRom has same bugs as latest CM11 build from Maclaw.

the truth is that nobody can say about specifically because that happens and not others, in the official thread carbonRom have not seen anyone complain about it so far.
I can only tell you what I did
I did a full wipe, install the ROM with a user Goldrake1 Gapps that he shared in the CM 11 thread some time ago and finally put it in ART mode.
as hize not see anything special.
IAmNice said:
Carbon rom should actually use just as much ram as cm. If not more. Since carbon has a lot of features that run in the background and might use more ram. Shouldn't be such a big issue and I don't expect it to use much more ram.

all I can say is that for me, the performance of RAM is fine:good:, actually I have the same performance in CM Ram 11 Mokee OpenSouce , but CarbonROM It has been the best result(for me ) for example, I've these results RAM in CarbonRom.
Edit.
@bir00 generally you will not find huge differences between CM 11 and CarbonROM. it is safer than the end you will select which considers more complete.
I'm currently using hellkat's version of kitkat and it works better for me than the others, is fast, stable and the only bug that i've seen until now is that the speaker sound is kind of low, but still it's a very good rom
I finally installed Slimkat kitkat ROM. I've had a lot of problems running it. My phone seemed bricked but the reason was that nightly build had s*rewed up kernel. I finally got it to work and I like it
One question though, do widgets from ICS function on KitKat? I just can't install recent calls widget. Or any other widget for that matter. Is it a common KitKat problem?

[Q] Rooted phone. Any custom roms for this phone to flash?

So i successfully rooted my phone using odin and cwm recovery. i am on stock rom 4.1.2.
Can anyone please refer to a rom anyone used on this phone and it worked without many bugs.
i searched for cm11 but it still has many bugs on this phone so i ignored it. Please refer to me roms that have a newer version on android only. I dont want customised stock roms. just omniroms or maybe cm10.2. Thanks everyone!

Interesting. Nice find, I didn't know this one. I will test to see if it's really KitKat :good:
Edit: it is a beautiful ROM, but it isn't KitKat. It's the same Android JB we all have in our devices. I'm considering to keep it installed.
It is for i8552B

well its nice, much lighter than the original stock rom. Plus its better and much sleeker than the touchwiz. Although its not a major upgrade like cyanogenmod. But yeah, worth more than the stock rom. One of the cleanest rom for grand quattro :good:

Yes, I tested. Let me write a little review.
I would say Bionic Monkey (the name of the rom) is a stock-based rom, with some interesting mods. By default the rom changes the DPI, so more things fit on screen. Some apps are KitKat-themed, like contacts or dialer. The stock launcher was replaced by Google Experience Launcher. It's also pre-rooted and has support to multiwindow. I didn't test multiwindow, but I think it's nice on that rom because of DPI.
The major disadvantage is that the rom is not KitKat, despite the system info. You can test it by installing any app only for KitKat - it will refuse to install.
So, in general, it's a good rom for daily use, so you might give it a try.

There's no KK for us, at least for now. All the roms that claim to be any Android higher than 4.1.2 are actually themed roms with mods on build.prop, but in fact they are Android 4.1.2.
The exception is CM (the one in link provided by you), that is KK in fact. But is still unstable and not suited for daily use.

Xperia P kitkat Rom

There are a number of Kitkat roms available for sony xperia p. I am not able to decide which one should I download. At this time which one is most stable? I wanna use this rom for regular use. I can not flash each and every rom to know which one will be good for me. Thanks.

Every KitKat ROM uses the same base, which is the aosp ROM by percy and the others from team aosx. So you will get the same bugs on all of the KitKat ROMs. If one of the remaining bugs get solved, every other ROM will get that fix also. It's mostly a question of what features you are looking for. I'm personally using the latest AOSPA beta and am pretty happy with it.

Hazy ROM for D855

Hi, everybody!
There is a new kid on the block! It's called Hazy, and it's not a CM derivative, but coming directly from AOSP. It's on a very early state so it's very bare-bone, otherwise it's stable and bug free enough in order to be your daily driver. At this moment it's only available for the international version (D855)
A really promising ROM. My favorite so far. It works perfectly as secondary ROM on @Skin1980 multiboot, with no third party kernel needed.
It worths a trying.
Here you have some screenshots:
You can find it here:
www.hazyrom.net
Current version:
ROM: Hazy 4.1, Alpha 1 (Release data 04/24/2015)
Gapps: Slim_Gapps_Beta_5.1.x.build.0.x-20150430
Download links:
ROM: http://www.hazyrom.net/download/rom/
Gapps: http://www.hazyrom.net/download/gapps/
At this moment, not rooted by default, so you have to flash SuperSU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 (thanks to @Chainfire)
If you have problems you can report it in the bug tracker: https://www.hazyrom.net/tracker/
Please consider a donation if you like Hazy: http://goo.gl/oM1nn6
Enjoy
P.S: I'm not a developer and I'm not pretending to be one. I'm only and Android fan that want to share this amazing ROM with you. All de credits to the Hazy Team: Matteo Lobello, Luca Pensabene, Francesco Colella, Adriano Loiacono, Matteo Munda, Davide Dellai, Salvatore Festa and Giovanni Chelli.

Hi chejofan,
Thank you for bringing us a new ROM. Just a minor mistake from your www.hazyrom.net. Inside the download page of Gapps, the file size of mini version is "659MB" :silly:
And I suggest you make some remark on the thread title to show the Build date/version number.
And perhaps with more explanation of the ROM & Kernel and the difference of the 3 versions Gapps as well.
I am having slow internet connection in China. Still downloading your build, will share my feel later!

As far as I know is based directly on AOSP, so is not a CM (CAF) derivative. However, I think that the current kernel is based on CM. Otherwise the hazy team is developing his own kernel, but at this moment it's only available for the Nexus 5 (Hammerhead). Personally speaking, I see this ROM closer to PA.
Another thing that I can tell you is that you'll never find theme engines is this ROM, so it's focus on simplicity.

It's AOSP and it's in APLHA stage...and this is the first LP based rom that i've booted on my G3. CM Inc. is not what I want. I want AOSP and if I consider that it's ALPHA.....not many features and that.......rom is smooth and nice on my side....and all I can see in future is improvements and more and more features....and you can't really compare CM and HAZY...so....i'm patiently waiting for updates...this one really has a potential to be a good if not best LP rom out there..
thanks for pointing this rom out @chejofan ...maybe you could invite some real hazy team members over to xda if they're not already here

lol, i ask because when cm first came out, there were wifi/quite a few problems..
i'm basically wondering if theres someone who's specifically worked on the d855 device tree.
edit 1;
nevermind, it still doesnt explain my question how i think about it, i'll install this as a secondary rom & have a look.
edit 2;
looking at source, d855 device trees are forked from CM, so that answers my question

Why don't you try flashing the @777jon kernel. My favorite one. There are versions for 16 and 32 GB variants.
Take into account that since this is an Alpha 1 release bugs will be around.

as I just wanna report as pure as Hazy rom is for you. I understand it is a alpha version, so our user report is very important to you . Of coz I have 777 kernel in my storage. anyway, great rom even it is Alpha. really looking for you beta and stable built.
For peeps that are wondering if hazy works whit multirom, the answer is YES. I'm using 777 kernel and love the simplicity of this pure AOSP ROM, actually whitout all the bells and whistle's of other CM baked ROMS is a advantage in my book, so keep it up guys, I digg you
EDIT 07.02:
I'm having weird random bug where I can't pull down notification status bar, it just doesn't let me swipe it down, weird? Anyone else having same bug? Any solution will be much appreciated! I want to continue using the ROM but that's a nasty bug!

Nah, in my device i tried multiple lollipops but they are were laggy. So i got back on the latest cm 11 and things are smooth as silk.
I'm staying off lollipop for now.
I don't care about the super latest features, I rather have a stable and secure system.

Hi,
Haxynox is actually pretty fast and thin. Discovered a bug, but cannot post it there. So i'm thinking of kinda spamming this place till i get my count up to 10
But in general, KitKat seems better choice for i9300 era systems. Would be nice, if someone compiled as close to aosp kitkat as possible. CM was close, but now really gets bloated with its additional software. It even has CM account system. Maybe i will test out Omni.
Omni is ok, but no theme support, same like slim kk
