Thanks. I got it into diag mode, but the program I am trying to use still wont recognize it. I have to write a new imei to it because the old one was black listed. I bought it from craigslist, and it all worked fine for a month. the guy I got it from had it black listed, and now I cant use it. it sucks bad. att wouldn't help me either. they say he blacklisted it, but it isn't reported stolen, so I have no idea why the prick did this. Only option is to get a different imei.
I installed java sdk, android sdk, htc abd drivers, enable debugging, and put it into diag mode, and still the WriteImei program wont recognize it in the com port area.
Anyone able to help? I heard there was a paid app from the phone instead of the pc app, but I cant find it anywhere.
thanks guys.

Sorry the Phone is Useless in the US ..their's no way to change the IMEI
Sell the phone overseas on ebay ...I have seen others like it.
And yes AT&T will let it go for a few weeks but after that it's useless (It's actually a good Deal if your phone is stolen at least you know the Thief ain't profiting from it)

There is no way to change an IEMI in the US. All US phones have it hard coded in the hardware. It's a federal law and requirement so they can track phones better. Furthermore if it is on a blacklist you might as well as said sell it overseas where they may not care or throw it away. No provider in the will touch a blacklisted phone. Also they only one who can remove it from the blacklist is the original owner so you have absolutely no way of having it removed yourself.
You may also want to consider legal action against the person you bought it from if you have their real contact info and proof of purchase other than your word and their word.

Maybe Plan B in market can do something for you. Iwish you good luck.
Thanks mate
Does Anybody know if when you install an app from your desktop computer via the google android website on your phone. and the status for that app changes from INSTALL to INSTALLED.
did the app sucessfully get installed? its very hard to find out as my network has been disabled ( i have now enabled it may take upto 24 hours) so my only hope at the moment is wifi i think.
if you didn't set it up before you lost the phone there's no way for you to track it down afterwards...
People are still sending me texts even though I can't read them. I can still hear notification sounds. I've gotta get a replacement quick, but I also need to get the important texts I missed. Is there any way I can get them through my mac?
To be clear, the screen is completely blank but I can still unlock it via touch pattern. It takes a few tries but Android File Transfer on the mac will tell me if it can or can't connect. If it can't, I just try again and I can get it. So the touch part still works, it just doesn't show any information.
The phone is a Galaxy Nexus. When I connect it to my Mac, I can see the files in it via the Android File Transfer window. However, I can't find the texts here.
I have the Android SDK installed and I was told I can do this:
adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
However the device shows up as offline when I do adb devices. I can't figure out a way get it showing up as online without being able to use the screen.

Ohhh.. That's alright! I think you should leave it to the closest Samsung repair centre, or just a place that can repair you device. Maybe they know how to take out the sms, or fix your screen.

Hey thanks for reading, a couple of days ago , my wifes phone got stolen, i had the find my phone app installed in it but i always had my doubts as i always thought that if someone like me finds a phone and wants to keep it, they could just master reset it and erase any gps traking apps and have a new phone rigth? well thats what happened, tiefh turned off the phone right away and the phone never showed up neither on google device manager nor the find my phone either. Anyway , a person that works on a cell repair shop told me, he has his phone setup in a way that if you do a factory reset or even if you flash the phone, once the phone has acces to the internet, it will install the gps back again and tell you where it is.
So i was wondering if anyone has any idea wich app or how to do such thing. Thanks for your time and pardon my bad grammar and english.
PS: i wonder why google dosnt have something like the icloud where you can lock your phone to it via imei, that way if it gets stolen you can just lock your phone and tiefs wont be able to use it. I know google has my last imei, so i guess is posible for them to track my device to see wich other account is using my phone.

With root access Avast Mobile Security has this kind of features as far as I remember. It keeps a protection after a factory reset or a firmware installation.
BTW Apple produces the devices so they have a control on the IMEI (IMEI is a hardware data and not software). Moreover you should probably be able to contact your local authoritizies to blacklist the IMEI.
Hope it helps.
ill give that atry, the reviews dont look good but most of them look to be because people dont understand that there are 2 kinds of the same app, one for normal users , the other for rooted users. Thanks alot for your help. Any other options out there?

Broken to the point where the touchscreen doesn't work? If so, then there isn't much you can do, unless USB Debugging is already enabled, and even that depends on which update it's on, to whether or not you can access it with a new PC without accepting the key on the phone if trying to connect via adb. If the touchscreen still works, then there is a variety of ways to retrieve texts.

Hi,
First of all I am really sorry for the questions and the beginner kind of questions. I really need your help. Your help is appreciated.
Please do not calm me down (is reassure the right english word?)! I just want to hear facts and answers regarding the truth/reality..
I have got a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (SM-G965F, Duos), bought in Germany. My Android Version was Android 8 or higher, but I can only guess this part. Maybe it was older than Android 8?
It fell into water (only the bottom part) a year ago and about a month ago i gave it to a repairshop (I know that this was very late).
I did not give my lock screen code to the shop workers. I did not give them any code.
The Bitdefender App (full) was installed on the phone.
As I remembered that there was sensitive data on the phone I took my phone back the next day. Bitdefender has mentioned that there was failed access attempt to my phone. Bitdefender App took one or more photos (I can only see one) of a worker trying to unlock my phone.
I used Bitdefender, so I think the Secure Boot was disabled (I think). Is this important for my question?
The old data (before giving to the shop) was on my phone, no deletion of any file, as far as I can remember my own files.
Questions:
Could the workers of the phone service shop get any kind of access, e.g. by cracking my phone, bypassing or just trying. I mean, they are professionals or semi-professionals. My phone code consisted of four digits I think. There was no SIM-card inside the phone.
When I took my phone back the date was set to january 1st. Why that? How can that be? The Bitdefender App said that the photo was taken on 2018-01-01, 15:41 o'clock. Maybe Bitdefender takes it from the android system. Or from WiFi of the shop? Is that possible for them to connect to their WiFi without the lockscreen code? Can it be, that they unlocked the phone, and messed up the timestamp?
Is access (if possible) only via USB cable possible or wirelessly, too?
After a bit of investigation I found out that there is software to rescue data both from iOS and Android systems (For example: Dr. Fone). Maybe access it possible with software like that?
The warranty void of my phone is: 0x0. So I think that software like CWM or TWRK was not installed on my phone, am I right? And I also think that my phone was not rooted, am I right? But I have read that you can flash the full ROM, to set it back, from 0x1 to 0x0 (https://c.mi.com/thread-1898682-1-0.html)
I have read this, but I do not know if it works on my phone: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437946
Could they have gained access to any password, including Google and Samsung accounts?
I have researched and found out that there are several options: USB debug mode, Warranty Void, FRP Lock, OEM Lock, KG State. Do they use one of these to gain access?
After taking back my phone from the shop I did a hard reset on that phone. After the reinstallation the phone did NOT ask me for a PIN/password or google account . So, was the FRP Lock OFF?
I think I had both the Google Account and the Samsung Account logged in on this phone. So was FRP=ON ? What about other options/states, e.g. the OEM Lock?
But I changed the password from within my PC (Browser), not from within this phone. Maybe the phone had an internet connection (so that an error was shown internal on my phone, due to the password change), maybe not. Could the FRP Lock have changed to FRP Lock=OFF (due to this password change?).
What about other options/states, e.g. the OEM Lock?
A bit offtopic, but related to my problem: The shop said that they tested my phone after repairing. Microphone etc. How could they have done that without my lockscreen code? What else apart from microphone could the have tested?
Hi again,
I know that this is a long post nd much to read. I need your help. I have researched and asked, but no definite answer.

Hi,
as far as I know you have to enable the Developer Options first, in order to enable the USB Debug mode, right? If it is like that, no. I even never got into the Developer menu I think - as far as I can remember. Because I didn't know about this option.
edit: And the standard option is (e.g. when bought a new phone or after a hard reset etc):
USB Debug mode disabled, correct?
