Kind of sad that it's almost the exact same sensor size (maybe it is the same one). 1/2.3". I was expecting them to challenge that Lumia 1020 at least with a 1/1.5" sensor. I don't know what's up with Samsung and other Android phone makers. (I like my S4 Zoom in Program mode, great pictures).
Well, I'm glad I got the S4 Zoom and did not wait for the K Zoom. Or maybe I'll give this one to my wife and get the K Zoom for me if there are any improvements. I like that it's thinner and should be easier to hold. I do like the back faux leather, it makes it less slippery.
I like that it has the new Touchwiz theme and 4.4 that come with the S5 but I am hoping that it doesn't lag like my previous Galaxy S4 with 4.3 did.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kumEI100Dq4 , the have lots of vids of it on youtube.
p.s. main improvement is form factor, screen and and rapid launch from lock screen 0.3 secs. . i too hoped they would improve size of sensor. but I would expect the same quality of pics

I would get it only because it's thinner and most probably way more comfortable to hold than the S4 Zoom. Looks good! the only problem is that it will cost a lot :/. Got to wait 6 months + to buy used ones I suppose.

Take off the &t=102 at the end so it doesn't start at the very end of the video.. LoL
On Samsung-updates I see a firmware for Galaxy K Zoom, does anyone think that it can be ported over to our S4 Zoom? It would be awesome to have 4.4.2 and new TouchWiz on our phone with updated camera software.
Only one negative of K Zoom vs S4 Zoom, no tripod mount in device on K Zoom.
A video from Samsung showing some of the features of the K Zoom.
Looks really good! thanks for the video. I can't believe that they didn't give the S4 Zoom pinch to zoom :/ (even though most phones had it back then) or even a setting to zoom in with volume buttons (more comfortable than using the ring or touching on screen). I like object tracking and really like the one where we can choose more than one focus area.
Here's hoping it doesn't accumulate dust below the camera protector glass!
Separate K zoom forum
Hi, will we be getting a separate K zoom forum?
Would be good as I have alot I can share with XDA.

Hi Guys,
I made a 2 part video comparing my HTC One X with the Samsung Galaxy Note... Hope it will be useful
These are just my 2 cents

The one x was brighter bro but the notes got better blacks
Was wondering how the GPSs was on both phones. HTC is well-known for having great antennas in their phones whereas the Note (as well as GS2) have questionable GPS(but still better than GS1). Thoughts? How is the headphone audio for both phones? Which ones louder, better quality or both are relatively the same?
So far, you've nailed a lot more topics than expected. Those are 2 I actively look for in phones so some clarification would be appreciated.

And what about the COLOUR SATURATION and CONTRAST?Does the onex looks like WASHED out when compared to note like all other ips panels?
I am really in a big problem of buying a phone, and My preference is not colour accuracy, what i want is the awesome contrast and the poping colours of amoled.Thats why i am a bit inclind towards the note and also its BIG screen! !
Heres a link:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606636
On the above link the screen of onex looks more saturated than note
How is this possible that too to a ips panel?
I heard a lot abot its pentile, resolution isnt what should a 720p should show blah blah,,,,does it affect that much?My uses will be gaming, watching videos, browsing etc but NOTMUCH ebook reading.
BTW me too from india
I think the size of the screen of G Note makes the difference! For better I mean

GPS - Sorry bro, havent checked really so no idea on that and my htc is in the service centre so I cant check it now
Headphones - With bt headsets the HTC is of better quality (by a very thin margin) but as far as volume goes both are almost equal, I cant tell the difference as to which ones louder...
Hope I helped bro

I know on paper the full rgb of the htc is superior to the note but I dont find the note inferior in anyway and for movies and games the true blacks of amoled just makes everything pop and I love it... the one x is amazing outdoors, the whites are better... its definitely a brighter screen.... I love em both but for movies theres no phone that id choose over the note

First, Hi
I was amazed by a lot of new features of the Galaxy S 3 presented half an hour ago in London. And I was wondering if we would get some software from S 3 such as AllShare, S Voice and the new Touchwizz UI.
Do you even know if it could be possible to have a SIII based rom for our device?
Thank You very much
Soap
Thanks for the post, didn't know it was being revealed today.
Almost certain the S2 will get all the updates from Samsung or else guys on the forums
will have a new objective hehe.
The slogan for the S3 is 'Designed for humans'.....anyone else find this strange
The next galaxy s3 is a monster of IT!!!
I'll just grab the framework, APKs and source code and see if I can port them over for you.

What i would've wanted is the smart stay functionality. Backlight stays on while your looking at the phone.
its got LED notification which the S2 should have had....

heres some info about it, its not worth the buy for me, bigger, heavier, the screen is better and the larger battery but i dont think i have the pocket for it.

The gpu in the S3 is basically our mali 400mp @ 400Mhz+ cause when I oc my gpu to 400 i get about 10% less performance than the S3 in Glbenchmark 2.1.4 offscreen 720p
This thread will probably be relevant after May 29th.
Until then, what's the point?
Don't forget we already have the pink spot feature. No reason to port that.
But its thicker than galaxy s2 and it just has amoled hd not super amoled plus like this s2

Can anyone test panoramic mode. On 2 phones now it doesn't work. File size is 170kb to 370kb.

S4 zoom - I love it
Hi folks
I've been away from xda for nearly 2 years, and it's good to be back.
About a month ago, I purchased an S4 Zoom. I have to say, I love it. The camera is very good, exactly the same as using a normal Samsung camera. The phone part is great too, a bit like an S4 mini but with slightly higher specs I believe (could be wrong, let me know!).
I really like the whole device. Of course, it's bigger than a normal phone, but it fits in my pocket just fine and I've had no issues.
I've not tried rooting / modding it yet, but that time will come.
I've not actually seen anybody else with a Zoom yet, either!
i saw this solution for the galaxy s2 . which had low panorama problems.. has anyone tried this with the zoom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061161&page=3
Hello! I am a proud owner of S4 Zoom for about 2 months! I love my zoom and it's camera. I also have an S4 and although as a smartphone is not as good as the S4 , Zoom's camera is so much better!!! It's the best choice for someone who likes shooting a LOT of pictures!
I haven't seen anyone with a Zoom where I live, and I think it's not officially on the markets yet.
Are there any custom roms for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom?

I agree with you it is not as popular as other smartphones. I think this is heavily due to its size and the probably the lumia 1020. But so far i am using the s4 zoom for 2 weeks i have not yet encountered any problems. I have use its camera in day and night and the picture quality really makes me dont care about its size. Bought straps to pull it out easily from my pocket and a cover that protect the screen so that i could the phone upside down without the scare of scratching my phone. Many of my friends were like "what is that is a phone?" when the phone rings. A few of my friends said the would buy it but majority of them did not like the big size of the phone. I am quite impressed with its battery life. For my normal usage with my data plan turn on it could easily last one and a half day. However if i snap a lot of pictures using the xenon flash it could only last for one full day which i am still more then happy with it. In terms of gaming apps i haven't yet put it to the test yet. So far for apps not even a single app has crash and the phone has never went on a software crash. Fought with my friends iphone 5 siri and was quite happy with results. I am starting to love this unique phone.

totally love it ! yeah, our phone/camera -multidevice its something more then casual trend, but why not, we are geeks My "problem" was, that i won it in one competetion, & i was not really decided if i want it, keep it or sell it... but ive decided to keep it, start using it & from that time its really hard for me to leave him for a sec im totally amazed, photos are perfect (for me as a casual photographer), performance is great, ive tested all the new games (asphalt8 too) and they works without any problem.... i love my SGS4 ZOOM !

Haha Someone with a similar thought process as me. Im a NEX owner (not a father though, does a dog count?). Im due for an upgrade in the next few months and have been umming and arring about this one. I tend to carry a point and shoot with me everywhere. My thoughts were that this, although much bigger than my blackberry that I currently use, would be a smaller alternative to the combination I carry with me on a day to day basis.
I also have a Nikon v1, but thats a discussion for a different forum.
I found a couple of G2 photosets on flickr. They look better than the older leaked photos.

Thanks for the links! I am very interested to see how the camera compares to the Note 3. And these pictures look pretty good!
I was definitely going to get the Note 3 until I read it doesn't have OIS, now I am considering the G2... And the price is pretty good also. Only $575 off contract vs $725 for the Note 3 on AT&T.

Well I saw this yesterday
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Camera-shootout-Note-3-vs-Galaxy-S4-vs-G2-vs-iPhone-5-vs-One_id47239
I can't find any definitive proof that the Note 3 doesn't have OIS. The O in OIS stands for optical, so there is no such thing as a digital OIS. That's just simple image stabilization, without the O.
Nvm. Poopoo it doesn't have it. I wasn't planning on getting it anyway. No one bothers to mention it besides dpreview. At least I can rely on them to get the camera specs right.
http://connect.dpreview.com/post/7967117746/hands-on-with-samsung-gaalxy-note-iii
So far the LG G2 is my fallback plan. The Xperia Z1 has established itself as having an awful camera, and screen, and is big and heavy for a small 5". The Note 3 is more of the same. I am sick of my cheap ass built Note 2 with squishy cover. No plans to upgrade to the same thing. My only hope is the Oppo N1 comes out to be amazing, and has a killer camera. All other companies have laid out their disappointing hands.

There are already a bunch of shootouts and comparisons out there. The HTC camera has only 4MP so it looks blurry no matter what. It couldn't compare to 8MP cameras, much less the newer 13MP ones right now. HTC also has very bad processing with weird colors and heavy sharpening and noise removal. It was one of the best low light shooters on Android, but the G2 can compete with OIS, and has much better resolution.

Most of the pictures I've seen are from reviewers, not average users and that's what I'd like to see.
Just because the HTC One only has 4mp doesn't automatically mean blurry... I'm a crap photographer which I'll readily admit and I've got some great shots on the HTC One by just pointing and clicking. Here are a couple examples... If the G2 can do better, I'll be really happy with it! I'm tempted to head to an AT&T store this morning.

You are right in a way. I have HTC One too but pictures become blur as you start to zoom-in because it is only 4MP. Whereas 13MP on the other hand has 3 times more detail in the picture. And to make the point clear, in a common user perspective G2 can blow HTC one out of water (in camera).
A quick pic I took in my office yesterday. Auto settings, didn't change anything.

Some pics from yesterday, not really trying just pointing and shooting. Also i had changed my lcd density without setting the xposed framework to put the camera back at 480 so auto focus was confused the entire time.
