Hello. So, I was trying to install a ROM on my LG Optimus Extreme (LG L40G) using Nexus Root Toolkit and I botched it up. Now it only displays the LG logo and NOTHING I have tried works. It is permanently stuck on the logo. What software would be best for fixing this?

Let's to clarify your problem, You've bricked your phone. Be careful what you are doing. You shouldn't root your phone.

Firstly, you should check out whether you're able to go to Recovery by pressing VOL+ and POWER button.(Do this when the phone is off)
If ok, you could install a safe and healthy ROM base on your phone model but if not, I fear to tell you that you fell into hassle. And probably you'll have to throw your phone out to the garbage.

Note that you should firstly take the battery out for 3 minutes and then put it in and HOLD VOL+ and POWER button for about 15 seconds. Don't release it soon. check it out and make me aware.

I wouldnt say just throw it away.. Is this Nexus Root Toolkit even made for your device? and if so does it have a page where there are trouble shoot options?
Also does this device have a specific thread? I looked and didnt see one but not that familiar with this device..

Hello,
Am I the only one with a boot-loop problem after the .14 update download and install ?
Since then, my tablet has been into a boot loop, and none of the methods found to find in the forums worked sor far.
1) Tried pinhole reset
2) Tried recovery data swipe
3) Tried the "EP201_SDUPDATE.zip" method. It just goes to a screen with a blue diamond in the droid. Then after 20 seconds, the droid is on the floor with a "!" red symbol. After 30 seconds, the device goes back to boot-loop ...
Nothing worked. I tried to root it via adb but somehow I can't install the drivers on my computer, my computer doesn't even see the device via USB since it's stuck in the boot loop.
Did someone had this kind of problem earlier ? I did nothing special, the device is not rooted, nothing ... and had 0 problem with .11 firmware, worked perfectly ...
Thanks for any advice you could have !
I'm having a similar issue since the 14 update. My TP was perfect until last night when the 14 update arrived; but has been suddenly re-booting and getting frozen on the reboot screen since. However, pinhole restart did work, at least temporarily. I'm tempted to try rolling back the firmware.
Likewise, my device is not rooted or altered in any way.
Can't believe they have rolled out a firmware upgrade that actually corrupts a fully functional device! Who are these jokers?
Will update if I find a solution; please do likewise!
I am experiencing the exact same issue since yesterday and so desperate about it since I had no problems at all before. .
So frustrating.
Some more info I found :
During the night I let my device on, rebooting etc ...
I've noticed yesterday it wasn't really a boot loop because sometimes it'd go to the screen with a grey asus logo and a spinner, sometimes it was even going to the screen where the system updates and tries to optimize applications. Each time I went to this screen, it was updating a couple apps then crashing and going back to boot.
So, I figured out that maybe if it was on all night, it owuld update all apps, and boot eventually ...
This morning, the screen was off ... pushed the power button and OH ! I was on the "First start" screen, where I had to choose my keyboard language. Did it, then chose wifi and .... back to boot !
So, it's not technically a boot loop, it's a MASSIVE reboot defect, the .14 firmware totally killed it, the OS doesn't have time to boot, it crashes before ? How can it be ?
I think I'm good for RMA, will try to contact ASUS also ...
Again, same problem for me .
Except the application optimization was made yesterday (not as it should be, I had one reboot after 1/87 applications optimized then the whole optimization).
Since then, sometimes (once in a blue moon), the tablet reboot completely as yours, and then after a few seconds/minutes "playing" on it, it reboots itself.
Etc...

I think our only hope is to recover it using the EP201_SDUPDATE.zip and be lucky enough for the tablet not to reboot during the recovery ... but it might take a lot of tries and it's boring to do ...
I think so. But is it possible to do so without root-access ? What does this method consist of exactly ? Where does this file come from ?
I downloaded the .11 update zip archive from Asus support, isn't it the same ?

From what I read root is not required
Yes, it's the good file. Unzip it, inside there will be another zip file.
Rename this : EP201_SDUPDATE.zip
Put it in the root of a microSD card and then put the microSD in the Prime.
Once you've done that, reboot the prime (anyway yours will reboot quickly lol) by holding power and Volume Down button at the same time. Hold it until the first screen of boot comes up and until text appears on the top left.
As soon as you see the text, release everything, then press Volume UP.
It'll say "Booting recovery kernel image" "Signature Match".
If the tablet doesn't reboot before actually starting the recovery, you'll go to a screen with a droid with a blue diamond and then a "dead droid" with a "!" red symbol. I never passed this step as my device reboots before the end of the recovery ...
Good luck
I'm going to try that .
Have you seen testimonials of successful attempts ?
I mean, is it a valid method ?
---------- Post added at 02:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:09 PM ----------
What should I do when I see the dead droid with the exclamation mark ? Wait ?
---------- Post added at 02:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:18 PM ----------

I think the problem we're having is that our tablet randomly reboots during the process ...
Yes and no.
As I thought, elsewhere in the post (I already read partially), they said you must have a root-access. Maybe (and I think) the tablet will be unrooted again after that but I'm p***ed off with the idea to root my tablet for a problem I am not responsible for...

They're talking about two different things I think, one thing is to flash the firmware with command line, this requires root of course.
Just wondering if anyone experiencing these reboots has captured a logcat? Seems to be a good first step in figuring out the problem.

Maybe, it's not clear out there. And I'm not sure to understand anything anymore.
Perhaps you should ask them to confirm this method doesn't need a root access.

I'd love to, but I'm unable to get adb access to the prime, it reboots before my computer can even install the drivers
Ok so, once plugged with USB to my computer, and when finally the device wants to boot and stays on the "android configuration screen", windows is able to access the TF201 folder system ... but not luck with ADB, I guess that's because the debug option is not activated on the device and I can't pass the first configuration screen, it always reboots before the end of it
Another update : using the EP201_SDUPDATE.zip method, I was able to install the US .14 firmware, but result is the same, reboots like crazy.
I'm currently trying to get the .11 US firmware to try to downgrade, but it's hard to find, asus removed all the older US firmwares from their servers, god knows why
EDIT : found the 11.1 firmware, doesn't work ... I'm stuck with .14 firmware

Just hold Vol Up + Power + Home until it reboots to recovery, then restore from the backup I hope to God you made.
What version of gs3 do you have. International or us? Cause there are some people who bricked the US GS3s in an attempt to flash Omega.

Make sure your phone is off (pull the battery for 5sec) and that it's not connected via USB.
Then press and hold Volume-Down, Home-Button (center) and Power.
(In that order)
When the logo appears, immediatly release the Power while still holding the other 2 until download mode appears.
If it does not work, make sure you haven't slipped off a button and repeat procedure a few times.
If it still does not work you're officially softbricked and need a Jig (Usb-plug with an intern resistor).
They're quite cheap and several repair shops seem to have one. You can also make it yourself if you're any good with a solder iron. It really isn't hard and you can't break anything.
If you've got your hands on a jig, make sure the phone is powered off, then plug the jig in. It will magically turn on and immediatly show download mode. (If it tries to boot, turn it off and repeat, that happens if the jig isn't seated properly)
Should it remain off, your jig isn't exactly 301kOhm (several cheap ones are 300kOhm)

Have you tried what the previous guy said and got in to download mode? If you can get to download mode you are fine. Just need a rom you can install via odin or just reinstall recovery via Odin. Then wipe and reinstall another rom again.
Nuff said really. I highly doubt you have softbricked the device if you can get to the boot logo.

You should never flash a custom rom
A. if you have no idea (Clearly you have never don this before)
B. YOU NEED A JIG
and you will need a multi file rom not a single as you need to do a reparation
or take it to samsung and put your hands up and say your a twit
will cost £40
I flashed that ROM also and my phone wont even come on!! I mean nothing works
in sum post I read that s3 is unbrickable..then hw its possible...? what u done wrong?

Folks,
My son in law just picked up a used Note2 that was originally a Verizon phone. The seller had thoughtfully loaded it with a stock unlocked ROM as the son in law was planning to use it on Pagepluscellular not Verizon. After receiving the phone he decided to use it with his Verizon account for a few months and had it activated. It worked great until it tried to auto update.
Now the phone will not boot. It opens to the Samsung Galaxy Note II splash screen but will go no farther. Son in law is not tech savvy and I haven't modded a phone since my old Motorola Razr V3XX.
I have looked around this site and am struggling with the terminology but I think I have learned that:
The phone is considered bricked.
The only option I find is the I605 unbricker link which will require me to dis-assemble the phone and solder a switch to short a resistor.
It appears that this will unbrick the phone but it is not clear what I should do after that. He would be happy with a stock Verizon ROM image but
I don't see an obvious link to a stock file. And I am not clear as to what image loader version (Odin?) to use.
Please offer suggestions or advice. I need to fix the phone for him but really don't plan to get into modding it. It he want's to do that he can learn it for himself.
Thank you!
Try going into recovery.. pull battery. . Wait 5 sec and put battery back in (I usually hold the power button down when battery is pulled) then hold home button and volume down.. While holding those down hold down the power button. See if it will go into recovery

Yes! It will go into recovery. Every where else I read it said to use volume up not down.
With it in Recovery what is next? Can you suggest an OEM Rom?
Thanks!
Fixed!
Gotta love the forums. I found the guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207
and was able to fix the phone. The update that bricked it was of course the 4.3 so I has to resort to the VRUEMJ9 4.3 rom to get ODIN to succeed with an install but the load completed successfully and the phone is working great.
Hi guys i accidently bricked my lg g2 (d620r) trying to unlock my bootloader (i was in official 5.0.2 and i tryed aboot4.img for kitkat) and after a lot of days i finally found out how to unbrick it...
So first you have to make sure the phone's battery is at 0% (you can test this by connecting your phone to your pc with the battery in if it power up without pressing any button then its at 0% if its not then it will do absolutely nothing)
so your phone WILL power up but it will imediately power off again because the battery is at 0% so unplug it and wait till a 0% battery icon appear i the screen
when you see the icon press and hold the volume up button and plug the phone to your pc
now you are in download mode and you can flash a .kdz file (lollipop or kitkat)
ps: this method worked for me and i have my phone back, i dont know if it work for you too
ps:if you dont know how to get your battery to 0% just leave it in the phone and it will drain itself(i think)that worked for me
ps2:my english is not good enough so forgive me if i made some mistakes and correct me
Thank you and i hope you can get your phone back too
You don't need to discharge it..
1) take out the battery
2) plug the phone in a PC via micro USB
3) while holding volume up, put in the battery
4) screen whill pop up asking you to hold volume up, relise it and press it agen till you get in download mode.

I don't know. I read somewhere that it costs around $30-50. But maybe my warranty isn't void, because they can't check (maybe) my phone is rooted, so it costs nothing.

It's not possible. If you try, ROM's filesystem will replace the files you are using, making the device unusable (soft-bricked).
Hello!
Im new to this forum, and to be honest, only registered to get help to this
New update came to phone. It was small and not a big deal so i installed it. That was my biggest mistake.
Now my huawei honor 7 is stuck on that "Your device has been unlocked and cant be trusted" thing, and only thing it does is "Your device is booting now"
I cant do or press volume buttons because it goes immetiadely to "Your device is booting now" state. It never boots by the way.
So what can i do? Nothing? Is there still hope. I never rooted my phone, but i "unlocked" it. This is very annoying and stressful
