[Q] installing a custom rom - HTC One X+

I installed cyanogenmod on my HTC One X+. It's really slow now, so I would like to install another ROM. I tried installing another ROM but it gets stuck on the booting screen everytime. I just installed my backup again, so my phone does work again. How do I install another ROM? I figured out I need to flash another image or something. I can't find a good tutorial on how to do this for a specific ROM and with updated files, because I understood from various forums that I need a newer image if I want to install another ROM?
Thank you.

flash boot.img which is in your rom.zip (you have to do this on every rom-update and wipe dalvik cache and cache after this)

[Q] Need Help with Installing ROM (CM 10) on HTC One X

So I was able to successfully root my AT&T HTC One X and decided I wanted to install the CM 10 ROM (1st ROM install). I did all the data backups with Titanium, downloaded the latest zip files from cyanogenMod (both the 12/13 and 12/14 nightly versions), transferred them to my phone, booted into recovery (TWRP), did a back-up, did a system wipe, flashed the ROM and then did a reboot. However, when it boots it gets stuck in the boot-up screen (bootloop) and doesn't do anything. I have read on this and it keeps saying to wipe system data again and flash the ROM again and it keeps doing this. I want to install this ROM, but I need some help. Any suggestions on what I did wrong?
Do I need to manually flash the boot.img file or should I only need to transfer the zip to my phone and install after wiping/doing a factory reset?
Well, that didn't work either as the zip file failed completely during install. So I downloaded the latest "stable" version just for giggles and wiped everything again and did an install. Just like before, the install was successful and on reboot it locks up on the boot screen. I am at a loss on what to do.
Hey buddy, i had cm10 running on my HOX, when i did it i had to flash the boot img through fastboot as well.
I found a tutorial on youtube by cursed forever helpful, sorry I'd post a link but my thread counts not high enough yet

[Q] How to safely update an installed rom - RR

Hi,
I've recently rooted my phone and installed my first ROM - Resurrection Remix - and it's notified my of an update (v3.1.3) and downloaded the zip for me. My question is how do I safely update RR?
When I first installed it I had to perform a number of steps wiping and clearing things before installing from a zip using CWM. Hopefully I don't have to do all of these as I don't want to have to completely reinstall every update, but do I have to do any of them still or do I just install from the zip in CWM without any other steps?

Have you read the first posts of the ROM thread?
Maybe there is a description of how to install the update.
If not, then you can just flash the update zip file in CWM recovery and try to reboot normally.
If everything works fine ... that's it.
If you have issues, boot into recovery, wipe cache and Dalvik cache and reboot normally again.
If that does not help, then you might have to wipe data (do a factory reset) in recovery.
But I think that these steps are not needed as you are already on this custom ROM.
(Usually you only have to do the complete wipe steps when coming from another / stock ROM - and the other way round.)
Good luck !
P.S.: Always create a nandroid backup before flashing. So you are able to "go back" if needed.

[Q] "Custom Stock (Codename: ETERNITY)" android™ Galaxy S II rom

hello to all
well i have tested a few ROM´s but the Custom Stock Rom (Codenam: ETERNITY) is one of the best in my opinion.
I have flashed this Rom, and it worked realy fine, my first mistake was that i did not make a backup, and my second mistake was that i have tried to flash some Mod´s.
After flashing a few Mod the Rom does not working correctly, anway i though i reflash it again, but that was not so easy as i thought.
After four time flashing, it did not work, so i thought, i flash the Original Samsung Firmware (i downloaded from Sammobile) so after flashing i rooted my S2 again and the Rom Eternity download it again, and save it in my mobile, in CWM window, i have follow this instructions.
Installation Pocedures:
If you're coming from ICS Roms, Stock Roms, AOKP/AOSP Roms or Custom Roms:
Download the zip file.
Put it in either internal or external SDCard.
Reboot in recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache.
Go to Mount and storage, format preload.
*If you do not have fromat preload in recovery (Except Philz and Jeboo kernels), Please go to Other Links section on 1st post to get the GS2ROMWipe. Then, run this in recovery*
Install the ROM.
After installation finish, reboot your device.
The first boot will take several minutes.
Please allow 5-10mins to let the media scanner to finish after configuring the Setup Wizard.
Then, open up SuperSU App and update it.
But it did not worked, later i have follow the instructions from the Video, the same problem.
I see only on Screen : " Samsung Brilliantly Stock Custom Stock ROM"
Please allow 5-10mins to let the media scanner to finish after configuring the Setup Wizard.

[Q] Android update

Hi!
I need some help with understanding of flashing custom roms e.t.c.
If I have 4.3 ( latest official update ), is it possible that I upgrade to CM11 4.4? Or I just can flash roms wich are based on 4.3?
Dont get it!
Thank you for responding!
If you have custom recovery installed, then you can install Compatible ROMs for your device (such as CM 4.4). If you are running stock or another ROM, then by entering custom recovery and making Nandroid backup first, you can install the ROM. To install, read the post for ROM you want to make sure compatible/whats needed (like GApps, etc), download, backup current ROM if isssue happens (to save yourself), WIPE data/factory reset, WIPE cache/dalvik cache, install ROM/etc as directed via the ROM post page. As long as you can meet these, you can flash what you'd like.

Welcome, make sure you do your research though on flashing and the ROM in case there are issues with the ROM specifically (ex. Bluetooth not working, or something). Any one thing missing (didn't flash GApps, ROM problem, etc) can cause issue. If no issues or you can live around them if they exist, then good luck.

What is exactly a "dirty flash"?

Hi, it's the first time I've rooted and changed rom to a phone (actually it's first time ever I'm using an android phone) so sorry if this question seems to be stupid
I've installed on my OPX this rom and now I want to update it, I read that I sould dirty flash the new version. What does this mean exactly? I just flash the new version without any wipe? Do I have to reflash Xsposed, gapps, ...? Thanks for the answers

In dirty flash
You only wipe cache and dalvik cache
You dont wipe data and system partition
For xposed you need to flash the xposed file again
And for gapps it depends, but generally you need to flash gapps again
Dirty flash is when you flash one custom ROM over an existing custom ROM on your phone (maybe the same ROM or a different one)
Off topic : clean flash is when you go back to stock ROM and then flash your new ROM zip
