[Q] Screen turns off when in call? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I place or receive a call, the screen turns off, and I have to cover up the light sensor to get it to turn back on. In order to end a call, I have to have the accessibility mode turned on to end the call with the power button. I'm running OmniROM, and the rest of the information about my setup is in my signature. Is there a way that I can disable this from happening? It makes it kind of a pain to navigate phone trees on automated systems. Is there a way I can get this to work? I have my phone in a ZeroLemon hard case.

It is not the matter of Zerolemon, I am also using that. It is having issue on Proximity sensor. Please google how to calibrate that or off that.

Thanks. I found the answer here.

Except the strange thing is, *#0*# doesn't work at all on OmniROM, so I had to check the calibration with ADB.

Ha..that even not working in my ROM. The reason behind might be deleting all *test.apk files from the ROM. Those usually been deleted as bloatware. But looks like you need those.

[Q] Bluetooth call and proximity sensor

Greetings all!
Firstly, thank you to all you devs that have put so much time in creating such slick ROMs. Me and my not so EOL Eris greatly appreciate it!
My question involves a bluetooth headset and the proximity sensor. I've been searching for quite awhile for a solution but have yet to find one that involves the Eris. I also haven't found anyone else with this problem so maybe it's only me.
But anyway I'm using GSBv2.5, and when I'm connected to a call using my bluetooth headset the proximity sensor is disabled. So the screen will not turn off when I place the phone in my pocket, and when it finally times out and the screen turns off, I can only turn it back on using the END, which effectively ends the call. Is there any way to enable it, or is this currently being worked on?
I've also tried enabling the use of the trackball to wake the phone, but that doesn't seem to be working with my Eris.
Thanks
I have never heard of this feature, or admittedly, ever used a bluetooth headset.
Has it worked that way for you on other android phones before?

Yep, this is pretty standard with the non-stock ROMs. You can turn the display on by holding Vol-Up while pressing the call key without losing the call. (I think holding VolDn works as well.)

Yes it has. I remember it working on the stock ROM before I started using the other ROMs. I also want to say it was working with xtrROM, but I'm not too sure.

Thank you, that's what I figured. I didn't know about the Vol/call combinations! The VolUp/Call combo works like a charm! Is there a key combo to turn the screen off? Maybe I can checkout the power widgets or something.
I've played around with switching between Bluetooth/Speaker/Neither and noticed that the proximity sensor doesn't work when I'm using either the bluetooth or the speaker for the call. But once I turn those off, the sensor works just fine. I'm thinking this is set in some configuration file, but I'm not sure which one. Any suggestions?

[Q] Phone won't turn on during a phone call

Not sure why this started happening, but whenever I call my voicemail the phone goes dark and I can't turn the screen back on. Neither pressing the power button or the home button does anything, but I can still hear the phone call. Any ideas?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Now the screen won't even turn back on after the phone call has ended
Do you use a screen protector? Check if the protector doesn't covers the sensor. It is possible that the sensor doesn't react well when it's covered (I had a similar problem with the Dell Streak).
Also try to make a call with a wired headset or if you make a call and you can't turn on the screen plug the headset in.

Might be a little bit late, but maybe for others
worked pretty well on my Samsung S4.
download the app "proximity fix" from the playstore and run it.
Job done.
Hope that helps you or anyone who stumbles upon this!

Accepting phone calls

On jellybean
When I receive a phone call while the phone is off I get the option to either "Decline" or "Accept". I accept by pulling the green "Accept" button down and into the half circle. Immediately the phone turns off again, requiring me to push the power button again to turn it on. Although this is something that isn't terribly hard to do, it is annoying as many times I touch the speaker button. I would be nice if when I accept the call the phone would stay awake so I can just touch speaker.
I went through the settings but could not find anything. Any idea's?

This is a known issue with the Proximity Sensor not working correctly. My phone does the same thing and I am currently in contact with HTC support. I will let you know what I find out

Vibrate

This seems an overly obvious question. Does the watch have vibrate? I just got it two days ago, but no setting of vibrate anywhere seems to make it shake. I would think I'd have run across someone else saying something if it lacked the ability...
So, kinda wondering if mine is broken or if I totally missed that it isn't there.
Thanks

Mine vibrated yesterday and now it wont vibrate. If you scroll down from the top on your home screen, click the icon in the top right corner, that should bring up your wifi, airplane mode, gps, battery, etc icons. If you scroll down to audio profiles, there is one called meeting that has a picture of a phone vibrating. That should make calls and messages vibrate your phone. You can also manually turn them on because if you go to settings/device/audio profile/settings for general where you can select vibrate plus ring, and if you scroll down there is an option for vibrate on touch. Even though I have both these settings checked, and they used to work, they are no longer working. I tried a factory reset, and that didn't fix it. Now, when I power on my watch, I get a message that says headphones disconnected. It seemed to stop working after I started getting this message, not sure if that is normal or if it has anything to do with it. I will let you know if I figure out a way to get mine vibrating again, but for now it looks like mine could be broken. Can anyone else chime in on this if this has happened to you?

It does vibrate. But very few things use that function it seems. I was thinking about setting up a tasker script to vibrate on any notification.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get mine vibrating again? I've done the backup and restore option, is that how you do a proper factory reset, or is there another way I can try to get this thing to start working again?
update: Just flashed 1900_20140120 firmware using the excellent guide on here, and still no vibrate

Mine started working. Not sure why; I tried to reset to factory and despite following the directions and watching Loki's video, i managed to lock the watch up. Popped the battery, put it back together, wiped the device. Now it vibrates and that is good. Just wish i knew what I had did that fixed it.
Thanks all!
Jd
Mine does not vibrate either, never did.
I tried with the stock firmware, Loki's firmware, stock with enhanced security... no luck...
Thoughts?

Mine started vibrating again. I went to take the battery out, but couldn't get the screws off, so I gave up, when I rebooted, all the sudden vibrate worked again. Not sure if it was powering it on and off a few times, or shaking it around, try taking the battery out and putting it back in if you can, if not, just try turning it off and then on and maybe lightly shaking it around
Well,
It looks like a bad electrical contact, I've downloaded an app called "vibrater" that does just what it says, and it won't start the vibrator until I lightly tap the watch on it's side while the app is turning the vibrator on.
But it does not stick. I guess I will have to return the watch to have it fixed...
Until tonight, I thought the TrueSmart just didn't have a vibrator...
Vibration doesnt work
Hey, just received my Omate Trusmart! (Kickstarter edition)
Overall I am extremely happy with the watch, but there are a couple of major problems:
1. The vibration doesn't work, I have tried rebooting, factory restore etc but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know a fix to this or is it a hardware problem?
2. My screen has very faint dark spots in the center. Looks like a manufacturing defect.
Is it possible to return the watch to get a replacement? I havent opened the back cover yet.
Thanks.

help! accidental touches to the screen during calls

when I use the original oxygenos, I always happens (in each call) that there are unintentional touches the screen that usually make me turn the microphone off or pause the call, all this makes it impossible to make a phone call.
I tried doing upgrades, downgrades, cache cleaning, reset but nothing!
The only way to solve it is to use the CyanogenMod 13 where the bug does not occur but.
can someone help me with this problem ??? I like the stock rom and I would use it without problems
Lock the phone after acepting or making a call, maybe? Ive never had such issues with OOS.

Yes! the only way is to turn off the phone with the power button after starting the conversation, it is still very frustrating!
If I type a number and make e call the display will immediately go off when I put the phone near the ear. If I just keep it in the hand it will not go off. I guess this is what happen by default. Maybe it has to do with some kind of sensor you turn off on your settings in OOS?

I think the screen is responsive to the touch in some cases despite the proximity sensor turns off the screen, it's a pretty serious problem, those of OnePlus are willing to fix it, but they will leave at least 30 days.
I do not understand if it is a sofware or hardware problem because with the various tests I did the sersore proximity seems to work fine, but I can not make a phone call without any problems
