HTC RESET

Hi,
I have a HTC Hero and the only buttons that work are the power and home button, only if I plug the phone to charger. If I press the 2 buttons, then the HTC powers off, and the only way to power it on again is to remove and reinsert the battery. Then the phone shows logo with box and HTC and then powers off.
That is all my HTC can do .
Is there a way to reset the phone to default software, to default settins ,or to default OS ... like android 1.0 ???
I cannot connect my phone to PC,because I get unknown device error ... when I plug it into the PC the orange LED is on and I can press power + home, then it starts and closes itself right away.
Do I need to install windows VISTA or LINUX to be able to connect my HTC to PC and fix it ?
If so ... how can I fix it then ?
what happened that brought your phone to this state?
installed radio for 2.1 v1.3 ... then installed android 2.1 v1.3 ... then installed radio and rom for 1.6 v2.0 , then installed radio for 2.1 and that was it.I restarted the phone and it got into this state
Then you have bricked your phone...
How can I repair my HERO?
This is what my HTC Hero shows for 5 secs, then it closes itself and I need to remove battery and reinsert to get same image for 5 secs.
No button works, except when I remove the phone from charge, then the power button works ... the phone starts and then it's dead.

[Q] [HELP!] Might have bricked my Vibrant!

So I was trying to get one of the simply honey roms onto my phone and long story short I accidentally formatted the internal storage of my phone with my computer therefore deleting ALL the files and folders of the android operating system! When I plug my phone into my computer i see the charging battery but non of the button combinations will allow me to get into download mode to flash it back to normal with odin. Just seeing if my phone is a lost cause or if there is a way to get the phone into download mode.
Take out battery, plug back into computer, plug back into phone, hold volume up and volume down at same time, place battery back into phone, make sure odin is up and waiting, try until it works.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
tried that as well and no luck. just keeps going to the battery charging screen. When i try and turn my phone on normally it just shows Samsung Galaxy S i9000 not Vibrant and just sits there till it dies. could that be the problem?
did you try the steps while holding down just the volume down & the power button?
Just tried that same thing. Is download mode something that any android phone should go to no matter what or do the system files for th phone have to be there?
Should...how about recovery..can you get there??
unplug usb cable ..power off the phone.. hold all three buttons down...Vibrant screen will pop up & go off...then it will pop up again..release only the power button..keep both volume keys down and it should go into recovery.
you might be able to factory reset from there.
ok, got it to go into downloading mode. forgot that my phone thinks its an i9000, the volume up and down buttons are reversed! thanks so much for the help though!

[Q] Unbricking LGOG E970 - help needed

Hi Guys, greetings from India!
I have a E970 which I unfortunately bricked ( in what seems to be a hard brick) during flashing an updated ROM. The phone screen now does not turn on at all, though when I connect it to my computer the power button led flickers on and off, and the PC responds as if a removable device is getting attached to it and being removed in quick succession.
In Device Manager I can see that the phone gets recognized as QHUSB_DLOAD.
When I tried to run the unbrick process via LGNPST, the phone name flashes along with the COM port name in the software, then disappears, and then comes back again. Moreover, the process errors out at 85% but pressing the power button does nothing.
Since the screen does not turn on, I am not sure whether my phone goes into a download mode or not.
So - is the phone recoverable at all or is it all over? Please help.
Thank you.

I don't have this device but, the following area of the forum is specific to your device.

With that stated...
Your best bet is probably to take a look at the following thread and, if needed, post your question within that thread.

Sorry to hear this...
Have you the Fastboot access? How to Check:
1) Remove Battery and put it back
2) Press and hold Volume - (Volume down) and connect via USB to your PC
3) The Phone Screen should change now and you can read something about Fastboot Mode
OR
Can you set your Phone into Firmware Download Mode?
1) Remove Battery and put it back.
2) Press and hold Volume + (Volume up) and connect via USB to your PC
3) The Phone goes normaly into Download-Mode now, see it on Phone Screen
4) Open LG Bridge and go to Update and then in the Bottom right Hand side onto >Correct Update Errors< this will flash your Phone with the Stock Rom
Working for you?
