Hi all,
I am a developer working on Xperia U. Recently with @munjeni we have fixed Bluetooth in CyanogenMod 11, then Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi direct. Currently I am working on (Xperia U) ambient sensor light and FM radio (that will work also on P/Sola and Go).
I open this thread because our CyanogenMod 11 builds is based on almost the same code. The problem is that the updates by CyanogenMod's devs broke at least weekly our builds. So I decide to focus my work on more stable pure Android ROM that once finisched, will be bugless and very smooth.
What I want do:
1) Create common repositories within all common codes and bins/libs.
2) Create specific repositories within device specific stuff.
3) Refactor,clean and update all configuration/make files.
In this way with very low work is possible update the code for almost all devices and so release updated builds in very short time.
What I need:
1) At least one developer per device that sync the changes to his device. Minimum skills requested are: basic knowledge of patch, git and shell.
- Xperia U: @95A31
- Xperia P: @percy_g2
- Xperia Go: @wan5xp
- Xperia Sola: @XperiaMT27
2) Some good devs that help in debug. Minimum skill requested are: have a brain, ability of take logcat's report and understand it, basic C/C++ and Java knowledge, ability of use Google.
3) Some developerss that help in refactor, clean and update all configuration/make files. Minimum skill requested are: basic knowledge of shell and device hardware.
We all need a community effort in order to have a decent operation system. Please if you have the required skills please join, is needed more help as possible.
Bugs:

Hello,
I download the rom AOSP (android-4.0.4_r2.1),
I followed this tutorial : http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html
Can I run this rom in my Xperia S because this rom is not the stock rom ?
Thanks
Refer to http://source.android.com/source/building-devices.html
The supported devices with the current release are the Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Xoom, Nexus S and Nexus S 4G.

Therefore, the answer is "no" except you are able to modify code to make it compatible with XS.
Ok thanks,
but where is the xperia s ics source code ?
I find the kernel code but i want the rom source code.
thanks again
This is very urgent please, where I can found the ICS xperia S sources ?
I don't think that Sony also releases their ICS firmware source code. AOSP source which is possible for XS is from FreeXperia team but they haven't public it yet until it is stable.
In addition, I don't know when they will release their source and please don't ask them because of the ETA rule.
PS. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

@OP: wait until team FXP release the sources, then someone will make an AOSP ROM for the S.
Thank you
So, I wait the FXP release
As the tittle, CM team announced a CM 10 M ROM to Xperia S and Acro S. They said that more "stable". But now don't have dowload-file!
"Something we have learned over the past few months is that if you don’t release, someone else will do it for you. Since we are open-source, we absolutely encourage it! Unfortunately, the quality of unofficial builds can vary, and we are serious about quality. Of course nightlies are always available, but we realized that having something that is a bit more stable on a more frequent basis is important. Starting now, we are rolling out our M-Series releases. M-Series builds will be done at the beginning of every month. We did a soft freeze of the codebase for the last week, blocking new features in order to stabilize. Our plan is to continue this (assuming that the response is good) up until stable release, and onward.
We aren’t exactly sure what M stands for. “Monthly”, “milestone”, or perhaps “MINE ALL MINE!”. Whatever it is, I hope that we are meeting the needs of community.
M-Series builds will be available under the EXPERIMENTAL tag. The filename will include the date stamp as well as the M version. These builds should be stable enough for daily use, and we encourage feedback and bug reports."

Ok I am waiting
I have been writing about your ROMs for S3 mini on my site wondering if you can do it for Xperia U also. Good to see you here Cheers!
Hi everybody. All who currently use (or have been using) Gingerbread on our precious U's
knows that there isn't any custom kernel for GB with working wifi tether. I'm aware
of GingerBeanSS where everything works, but CWM is integrated into ROM, rather than in kernel.
So, after some research I've managed to fix wifi tether in custom kernel
Features of this kernel are the same as one from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064997
which is I believe in turn based on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688147
Additions made by me:
-fixed wifi tether;
-Busybox updated to 1.20.2;
-Superuser replaced with SuperSU (latest version, 1.91).
Without any further ado, here are download links,
one for the kernel.elf and one for the flashable zip (CWM):
ELF file:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/b75q4gco8ec5zgd/kernel.elf
CWM zip:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ms5uahhqyfmle4u/StockGbkernel.zip
I hope you will find this useful
Big thanks to @DooMLoRD for creating this kernel in first place!

I have tried every possible ROM for Xperia U. On every single ROM, there was something that bugged me, but on GB, user experience is unparalleled. Everything is so snappy, fluid, fast... Not a single hitch! All which I have to lose are newer versions of Opera, Chrome and Gmail, but I can live without those. Finally I can use my phone as phone, without call/SMS lags, while still using it as a multimedia device

I agree with you! I have tried all other roms, but GB is faster in general, in multitasking, in autofocus etc ...and so I came back every time !
I've ever thought that we need a better kernel... And you, maybe, point to this way!

As stated in the OP, kernel isn't my original work, I just fixed and updated some things by means of tearing apart and putting back together kernels which can be found by following links provided in OP. I know that first version of this kernel was made by DooMLoRD.
Maybe I should put link to Sony's sources, since this is just a stock based kernel with added functionality?
I was afraid that someone would come asking this
P.S.
I am pretty noobish concerning android development, so I don't know my way around GitHub. If anyone is willing, he is free to upload it there

It'd be really increadible to see working Lollipop on Xperia P, a 2012 phone with newest software? I'll take it The devs don't have all the source codes for hardware, so I imagine optimizing for our devices won't be buttery smooth (as it isn't with Kitkat either)

128mb? for lollipop? i don't think so...kitkat rom is over 200 mb...so it's totally fake....also sourses are few days relesed, and devs in Xperia U Dev Thread said that we have no such skilled professionals to build even alpha rom so fast...
by the way, look at the screenshot on that link....build number is KOT49H, which stands for Android 4.4.2...

I don't think Sola will be able to handle Lollipop properly, because of the low RAM and old GPU.
Lollipop is full of visual overhaul and animations.
My Xperia Sola on ICS has no lags and 120mb free ram now wihout task killer.
