[Q] Droid X2 Won't Turn On - Motorola Droid X2

My friend has a Droid X2 that she dropped yesterday and it will not turn on. I've tried pulling the battery, going into the bootloader, and everything else I can think of. I noticed that the charger is very loose in the charging port. I also noticed that the charge indicator, the green light, will come on even if there is no battery. When I try to turn it on with the battery in, the light will go off and nothing happens. When I try with the battery out, nothing happens and the indicator stays on. Is this phone dead? Thanks.

Likely dead, could try flashing firmware.
On label does have model mb870?
Used on verizon?

I could not even get it to recognize on a PC. Yes, it is Verizon. She only has a month left on her contract so she's just going to ride it out and upgrade. Thanks.

This could be a good candidate for Moto's upgrade
https://motorola-global-portal.cust...670/p/30,6720,8039/kw/trade in x2/action/auth
To receive $100 Gift Card back when you trade up, just purchase one of the following smartphones:
Atrix HD
Droid RAZR HD
Droid RAZR MAXX HD
Droid RAZR M
Electrify 2
Photon Q
Even dead it is worth something if you want to stay with Motorola

Forcing open the bootloader

Is it even possible to force a locked encrypted bootloader open? Is anyone trying this? I'd hate to see such a great phone be so limited due to this locked bootloader bs,not to mention there are more and more being locked up tight. Gotta get this sucker opened up!!!
Easy way to make sure Motorola sends devices with unlocked bootloader is to REFUSE to buy any motorola devices until unlocked. Enough said. So come on everyone. Return all those Razr's and lets force motorolas hand.
can anyone tell me how you know if you have a locked bootloader or not? i have a Razr xt910 from Claropr and i want to check this. thanks! my Razr came in a red motorola box with car charger and hdmi cable included.

Boot into fastboot plug your phone into the computer and type
Fastboot oem unlock
On unlockable RAZR it will say something like unlock disabled
Might be different if phone is unlockable

Now is that going to be a carrier option or is Moto going to make it RAZR wide.
It's carrier-dependent, and the rumor is that Verizon said no to it. We still have hope though, in methods similar to the Atrix.. But that's after ICS.
Why is it dependant on ICS??
fastboot oem unlock is disabled, meaning the bootloader is off limits until Moto starts unlocking international RAZRs (which is coming with ICS according to them) and we have that to use as reference.
I'm on INTL Retail RAZR so, no problem for me, but anyway...
....we should see the signatures on our RAZRs, if Verizon RAZR's signatures are the same, it will be possible to flash EU bootloader on VZW RAZR.
It's only a matter of time, but prior talking I(we) should have something in our hands for working (like FXZ/SBF).
i learned my lesson with the droid x even though i love the design of the razr my arsenal of phones are enough to keep me from upgrading my verizon line until the edge or something worth it comes out but good luck to your battles and may it get unlocked sooner then later
i love razr very much, but it said that 912's 3g do not work in china.
can this problem be workout when the ICS come?
sorry for my poor english
@calvin1731
Strange. The RAZR supports all the human known GSM/UMTS/HSPA frequencies.
Go check on MOTODEV, there's listed all phones' capabilities: if you find your operator's frequency on RAZR specs then there isn't any reason for it to not work.
@kholk
i use cdma network,so i must choose verzion razr.
but is said that verzion razr is locked,so it could not use evdo 3g and there isn't a chinese Language rom.

Do you think I have a warranty claim?

I emailed Verizon and of course they want me to call tech support. I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue. I have a number of problems with this phone..some are usual for Droid x2. My wifi usually works but sometimes I have to turn it on and off or go into the settings menu before it will pick up a network. My signal strength goes from stong to weak frequently. When driving and switching towers my phone switches to 1x a lot and I have to reboot to get back to 3g. I have the audio skipping issues and of course my battery reporting is horrible. When it gives me the 15% warning it usually shuts off right afterwards. I'm stock rooted currently. I had another Droid x2 that was replaced cause of random toting but it never had these issues. I know some of them are 2.3.4 specific. Do you guys think I have a good claim for a replacement through warranty? I don't have the insurance just manufacturer warranty. Also, they want me to call tech support. Will they trick me into doing something to find out if my phone is rooted? I will SBF before I send it in if they do replace it.

Call 611, explain your issues. They will send you a replacement. You need to SBF your phone to restore it, and unroot it , I only suggest this cause it brings the phone back to original state. You can find great tutorials how to SBF in the Android Dev section here under DX2. After you SBF, the phone should or may bout loop. I always enter stock recovery and wipe data and cache to fix, and it will erase any files that may be left behind.
Don't worry they freely offer replacements, even if you just say it's not working right. Good luck
This isn't my DX2

Tech support goes something like this; "can you please reboot your phone? Now go into settings and check this setting. Ok now call this number to update. Oh it still doesn't work? Ok, we'll replace it."
The tech people are pretty basic and even if they did know about rooting and roming, then they would asunder you know not to say anything. But I would guess few if any of them know how to check it. No worries. Good luck though!
BTW, I went through 4 D2Gs and they finally ran out of stock so they sent me an X2.

I have a replacement coming. They tried to get me to do an early upgrade to a 4g phone. The phone call did not go well because I'm supposed to have a promo on my account allowing me to get a 4g phone with $100 off contract price without affecting my upgrade date. Guy was insistent that that was not the case and that it would change my upgrade date.

I am also waiting or a replacement X2 after going through the 611 call myself. I currently have an X2 2.3.4 and recently performed an unroot and SBF. Has anyone had any problems with Verizon after they have turned in their phones after unrooting/SBF, and if so what do I need to do to make sure I have no issues?
Thanks -- Jay Z

All the phones vz gets back, even the ones that have obscure problems, get RECYCLED and they do not always get em all 100% fixed: What Is a FRU?
And Moto is not the contractor!
FRU=Field Replacement Unit, they are factory refurbs that verizon uses for most warranty issues.
yeah I know I was getting a FRU then. It works fine. I've since moved on to a nexus this week though.

[Q] Razr MAXX concerns

Hi guys.
I love Motorola, and I'm thinking on upgrading to a MAXX. But I have a few concerns. I live abroad so I need it to be GSM.
To my understandings, the ones who can take a Turbo SIM are GSM capable, am I right?
Also,
Is there a way to quickly recognize GSM ones? I'll buy it through ebay and I'm afraid I'll need to ask every seller just to make sure I don't buy the CDMA one.
I got a DROID 2 Global right now and it works wonders.
Is the battery life difference between and MAXX and normal Razr so huge that is worth the extra $100?
If you could have another phone other than MAXX, what would it be? (not S3 )
Kind a lot of question, but I can only change my phone yearly or so, so I need the best I can have.
The cdma RAZR with the verizon ICS update .211 has world capabilities, the GSM radio is accessible on it.
If you get a cdma one and its not updated yet, first check for update over wifi on it and if says up to date give it the middle finger then download matt's 1.7 utility and flash the .211 leak, its the same as ota,
If I could have another phone I would choose something like the droid 4. I kinda still miss my keyboard. But then again the RAZR's screen is larger, and OLED where the droid 4 is the old LCD pentile like on the bionic. (oled is pentile to but much less noticeable)
Just a note, I dont have a max, I have a regular RAZR that I want to maxx soon.
I would say that double battery life is definitely worth the $100, Im gona end up paying a extra $150, plus i got the razr on release so It was $300 then. $$$
A easy way to identify the GSM ones is the lack of the Verizon 4g LTE logo on the back. Also the official name on the GSM is Motorola RAZR, DROID RAZR is a registered trademark of Verizon I believe, maybe just the "Droid" part, not sure.

That was very helpful man, thanks haha. But what you are saying is that it doesn't matter which one I get since I'll be able to use my SIM just by updating it? First time I hear something like that...what about the SIM slot? I don't think a CDMA phone will have one "just in case"...
Would you say that for 350 I should definitely get the MAXX? That's my budget and I know I can get one for that on ebay.
Many people still insisting I should get SII, but I want to believe Maxx is the better one...even though I'm fooling myself...
I just found out phones with bad ESN will work on GSM carriers.
Is that true?
Pretty sure that the XT912 is the model number of the CDMA (Verizon) RAZR and XT910 is the model number of the GSM one.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

The screen is better on the galaxy S2, fyi. The pentile on the RAZR really bothers me when viewing text. Hurts my eyes after only 5-10 minutes.
I recommend you spend some time with one before buying.
I'm looking forward to the RAZR HD.

[Q] REALLY CONFUSED - Verizon Razr MAXX (not HD)

Okay... so... it seems like hell trying to figure this out... and I'm sure its probably a really dumb question BUT I have to cancel my order for the MAXX before Amazon ships it tomorrow if I can't figure this out. Trying to get info on the MAXX is worse than making my own damn HTC gold card.
The RAZR and MAXX have the same hardware from what I understand? But there are different ROMs depending on what phone you have? I ordered a Verizon MAXX through Amazon Wireless... I have a few questions.
First off, custom ROMs - how does that work?
Secondly, if Verizon pisses me off I understand these have GSM radios with at&t bands (I currently have Straight Talk running off of at&t's postpaid network) but it seems like different models don't support US bands?
I know about the OMAP bomb... Where basically if the bootloader is hacked, the phone basically self-destructs... at least that is what I heard - I haven't ever had to deal with it.
This is more confusing than the gold card mess so can someone please explain to me, within the next few hours, if I should cancel my order and compare the brick ratio to an HTC gold card process?
All I want is a phone that can run CM10 without losing anything but the camera - without having to worry about bricking it. I originally ordered the RAZR 4G... but I canceled the order because of people saying it was anything but durable and I wanted to grab an S3 but I won't pay 150 bucks when I can pay a penny...
Please tell me I didn't just make a huge mistake... My Captivate is on its last legs... the eMMC keeps crashing and I can't use wifi on it or it shuts off the phone when it goes to sleep... even on a stock ROM... I gave away my Inspire (which honestly only "inspired" me to want to smash it into the nearest wall anyway) ... so now I will be stuck with a refurb E-71 that won't power on unless I fidget with it - Unless I made a good choice getting the Maxx.
Any help is greatly appreciated - seriously... I understand the hardware is pretty much the same with the RAZR and RAZR MAXX? Besides the battery?
Sorry, I'm rambling, but for once, my head is spinning... And I already canceled one Moto order today because everyone said the RAZR 4G (that's what Amazon Wireless was calling it) was breaking randomly and the MAXX came highly recommended... I wanted a GS3 - but I don't have the money and besides I heard that the reception sucks on the GS3 and my roommate has one and I think its a plastic toy... Great camera, unlocked bootloader, etc., though...
Basically... if I'm going to leave my 50.71 a month Straight Talk plan and enter into a 2 year contract with Verizon paying 90 a month plus tax just for 1GB of data, I want to make sure I'm getting the right phone...
Razr and Razr Maxx are both Model XT912. The only difference is that the former has a 1780 MaH battery and the latter has a 3300 MaH battery. See this Wiki page.
Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD are both Model XT926. Like the XT912, the only differences between HD and Maxx HD is the battery.
Hi i font know about that omap bomb you mention.. I have had the razor maxx for about 5 months now and i can assure you will love it.. Well at least i do
I have it on ics stock with frequent CM10 booting so you can rest assured that you can relatively safely mess with it
There is a rom installer called Safestrap 3.05 that is probably the best thing ever
It bypass the bootloader by installing roms on a safesystem file that does not tamper with the stock system or bootloader. You can also load roms with custom kernels there
Hope you keepit ń
Enviado desde mi XT910 usando Tapatalk 2
As gierso says it is a great phone. I have had the Maxx since August.
Don't worry about the locked bootloader.
There is Safestrap as referenced above. It does not mess with the bootloader. For lack of a better term, it "hijacks" the boot process after the stock boot loader loads.
It will allow you to run multiple ROMS kind of like you can dual boot your computer into windows or linux if you wish.
I am running CM10 as a daily, but my factory ROM is still intact..
There are a few more problems on the Jelly Bean ROMs other than the camera. One is bluetooth. Mosst are minor. But with safestrap, if I need to take a video, I can reboot the phone into the stock ROM, take my video, and then boot back into CM10 and use the phone as normal.
You have not messed up. It is a great phone with the best battery life out there.

XT908 on Straight talk/ATT

guys heres my story. About a month ago I hard bricked my ATRIX 2, Played stupid with Motorola. RMA'd it was nice to the people at customer service Because it took awhile for them to get it worked out well after one chat with customer service a new RMA was sent to my email About a XT912 after about 2 weeks got a package with a brand new RAZR MAXX. Now my problem is it has no carrier brand. it dose show up with a activate screen when I first turn it on. I am waiting on a sim card cutter to make my current sim fit. But my question is will it work on a Straight talk ATT sim card and is the XT908 factory unlocked
is there anybody out there?

The xt912 is the Verizon Wireless version of the Razr Maxx. Just to be safe, you should see if it says xt912 or xt910 on the bottom of the backside of the phone. (Near the bottom of the Kevlar).
