[Q]My s2 powered off it self

the phone powered off it self until i pressed the power button to turn on again. i noticed this often happened when i put in my pocket for a while. but when i put it on table over night it didn't happen.
roms that i tried that had the same problem:
batista 3.7++
lightening 3+,6+
cognition 1.4+
apps that i tried uninstalled but no avail:
-setcpu
-daemon control(batista rom)
-juice defender
is it due to motherboard issue? appreciate your advice. thanks.
have u tired wiping data and dalvik cache before installing any rom?

thanks, yes, i in fact wiped all and even install stock rom before any mod roms. and i also changed few kernels(stock, nipo, CF..)but still the same..
now trying to use kh4 stock rom and see..
So the this issue s only occurring when the phone is in your pocket and never when out of your pocket.
this happens to my Phone as well.. its kinda random...
sometimes when am listening to music and sometimes when its just on standby
for example it just restarted which reminded me to search for this error...
few days ago it was on standby and had shut itself down and the battery was completely drained after 5 hours without anything on.

yes, found it only happens when putting in my pocket. when charging over night or putting on my work desk, it didn't happen.
and yes, it happened few times when it turned off it self, it lost about 10% to 20% battery in just few minutes... the phone was warm when it happened. that was why i took out to check and found it already powered off..

What firmware you have? I run on XXKH3 for 3 days (previously on XXKG3 for 2 weeks), no boot issues.

all happened to shut down it self. so i guess it is not rom issue..
I would try a stock ROM for a week, just to be safe (no apps/tweaks/kernel, etc., really stock). I'm pretty sure a recent stock ROM will not give you issues, I would not worry about the hardware.

thanks for your advice, will try stock rom then
Ya, do that... just to see what is going on.
More on the technical side, the screen needs minimum 500Mhz to get out of Sleep Mode. Some custom Rom's use a low voltage or "underclock" feature that reduces the power consumption but also the number of CPU steps. That is what makes your phone crash and reboot randomly.
Once you put the stock ROM, do a sdcard wipe (if you use one), just to be safe. It should take several hours, so do it over the night. Personally I would not use an external sdcard during the one week test, just be sure.
You could also have a RAM (hardware) issue, ya. But 99% of the time is related to software. Bad memory degrades fast so you will see your random reboots pop at a faster frequency. If you did all the above and still experience random reboots, run adb logcat to see what is going on at that specific moment. If you get error codes like:
Code:
code 1 (SEGV_MAPERR), fault addr 00000000
you are dealing with bad memory unfortunately and need to service your phone.

I also heard that some people had bad battery contacts on their S2. Clean them with some audio head tape cleaner and cotton swabs, than make sure the contacts are proper... it should eliminate this possibility. In a way, it makes sense since you move a lot with your phone in your pocket.

Is all explained into link. Time to read?
However, I have a feeling this is your problem, since the phone restarts in your pocket only. Don't smack it like the guy did, heh. Go easier, think like it is your girlfriend...
Just clean the battery contacts and make sure they touch properly.
is there a guide on how to install Stock ROM back on? cant find any...
how can i root my sgs2...?
it also happened to my phone. so i brought it back to the store where i purchased it and told them that it was shutting down randomly when i put it in my pocket. after 15 days of waiting i called them for follow up because they told me it will take 7-10 working days. they told me that the phone never shut down in the service center. what can i do about it? i don't know how to flash or root. this is my first android phone.
I have finally found a solution... installed XXKH3 FW stock, not rooted yet, and installed an application from the android market called Load Monitor
Code:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.landak.loadmon
and enabled only Add Notifications, only notify high load, autostart and only screen on... seems to do the job, no battery drainage and most of all NO SOD (Sleep Of Death) or restarts anymore
If you still have problems try checkin wake lock from the options of the app...
Hope it helps

The phone did not rebooted in their store because they did not move it, you have a bad battery contact that can be fixed easy.

Weird, people reported that app adds load to the phone. Why not use terminal instead to check the stats?

Random Reboots AOKP

Hey guys. this isn't my first rodeo so no flaming.
I keep getting random reboots on my phone. It happens about every 15 minutes to an hour. I've flashed stock and did a full factory reset. I've tried new kernels... What are my other options? This is starting to get on my nerves
My suggestion is going back to bone stock with no adjustment.

Are you undervolting?
Any 3rd party accessories? (Batteries, etc.)
Could be a hardware issue
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
No hardware accessories and no undervolting. I made sure to stop the UV when the reboots started occurring. I'm by no means a dev, but i've been around a while and this just baffles me.

It could just be a bad battery. I'd suggest wiping and flashing back to stock. If the reboots continue, you can probably get AT&T to give you a replacement.
I'm getting the same problem as you. Before I started flashing (I'm still seeing the problem in AOKP, too), it was happening on the stock rom. I'm going to flash back to stock and see if that helps for me.
By the way, I think it's a hardware issue also. It seems like the reboots are more frequent when I'm holding the phone or when it is in my pocket, maybe the contacts in the battery are the problem? It happens if I just sit the phone on my desk also, so I know I'm not accidentally holding the power button
EDIT: 1
Okay, after flashing back to the stock rom, the problem persisted. I just picked my phone up and it turned of as soon as I lifted it. Have you noticed that lifting/touching is related also?

My problem was also hardware related... it seemed to stem from a wonky power button. I contacted ATT and in 15 hours, FedEx had my new phone at my door. Win.

[Q] Help LG-P760 frequent crash

LG-P760 stock Android 4.1.2
Only basic apps, FB, gmail etc.
1. Factory/hard reset
2. Works around 3-4 days perfectly, then starts to crash.
By crash I mean black screen, nothing helps, only battery pull.
3. After first crash, starts crashing more frequently. Happens only in standby.
Worst was today: If I start phone, log in, then it wont crash before I put it in standby. First time in standby, within 30 second, it had crashed.
twice crashed when someone tried to call me. Vibrated once, then crashed.
I would like to avoid replacing my phone.
Any ideas how to find the source of this problem? Any recommendations?

I had the same problem with Vietnam Rom and it was the baseband. I changed to the baseband from ICS from a Rom of my country so I have Vietnam Rom+Original ICS baseband and everything works well.
Thanks.
Although, I understand it mostly is problem when you have unlocked bootloader.
I am running stock everything.
And they have problem with rebooting phone, mine crashes and freezes.
Weird is that it starts around third day of normal use.
I think I have to take on a quest with a warranty. Does anyone know, can I contact LG straight without the provider, where I bought the phone?

I haven't unlocked it. The problem was the same: SOD sleep of death, when the screen goes off you can't do anything but pull the battery.
But if you can use the warranty use it. You should find the warranty info in the box to know where send it in your city.

Thanks. I will search into it. Sleep of death is new expression for me.
I only have phone, it came from relatives who threw away receipt + box.
Luckily I managed to get new receipt from provider yesterday (I dont think they usually give out receipts twice), so now I can use local warranty.
Thanks everyone for replying. I will post update when I have final solution.
Since you are stock you might want to consider flashing the kdz to see if that helps. Good luck!

I'm having the exact same issue with mine. I've heard everything from "try a different SD card" to "factory reset," and nothing seems to permanently fix the issue. What I've found kind of sort of works is just reboot it a whole bunch until it finally comes up and doesn't do it any more. From there, I'm good to go until the battery runs out or I need to reboot it because all the bloatware is causing it to glitch. This usually means that I have to reboot my device 10+ times in a row every few days. Hopefully, you found a more viable fix than this.

Hi
I managed to kind of solve this issue. Because I am not sure how, I haven't closed thread yet.
Anyway, I warranted device, they re-installed soft. Came back, same thing. After around weeks use, SOD. Factory reset. After that, things went interesting.
I tried not to leave it idle. Always had something running. I also had noticed by the time it never occurred when it was plugged in or music was playing.
One day it did it again, but I was in a hurry and just disregarded it. I did something(I was busy, maybe just plugged it in automatically?) and it came back up. It took like 10 sec for screen to start, but it did just wake up. And it haven't had crash ever since. I have no idea is this solution or is this just some coincidence and I am not keen to factory reset again, to see will it reoccur. It's my only phone
TLDR: Managed to get out of sleep of death, haven't reoccurred since.

[Q] repeatedly crashing n rebooting

hi all, as the title says my hox + is repeatedly crashing n rebooting. this has been happening since yesterday. the hox was fine in the morning and then randomly started playing up in the afternoon. the phone is completely stock n locked. its not the power button as when I enter fastboot the phone stays on n doesn't even freeze. it went flat after a while so I left it to completely flatten over night. its been on charge for a while now n its still rebooting even without me turning it on, it turns on by itself.....freezes.....then reboots.
any ideas guys?
really don't want to pay for insurance again n I now know it takes takes 2 weeks to replace a lost phone so god knows how long it will take them to look at a phone
"pay for insurances AGAIN"?
Does this happen randomly? Or it happens all the time? If you will be enough desperate, you can always try a factory reset as this looks like a software bug.

yeh ive tried factory reset in fastboot and also erased cache command. im going to try a rom now ive got it to stay off n charge. it will only stay off selecting power down quickly, if I select power off in bootloader it restarts. it does seem like software though as it doesn't auto reboot in recovery or bootloader

you can try increasing the voltage for the CPU...
does it show something on its screen when it reboots?
cant do anything. it would boot up fully...then freeze after 5 secs or so then reboot and do the same again. Ive claimed for a new phone now tho. I couldn't find an ruu after trying a new rom so insurance repair wasn't going to happen. the phones gone now n hopefully a replacement will come soon. guessing I had a bad refurb last time iclaimed

Random reboot or phone turning off with over heating

Hi guys. Im using the international version of GS2. My problem is that my phone switches off suddenly with over heating or reboots randomly. I have used different ROMs and found this problem persisting. I cleared everything from my phone, used tools like GS2ROM nuke and GS2ROM Wipe but still this problem is there. I read a post saying battery may be faulty and replaced my battery even. But no luck. I found that the over heating and switching off occurs only when screen is off. During continuous usage, it is more or less fine. (except for occasional random reboots). also, this is always random. it doesnt make any sense. i even checked the hardwares of my phone in the service centre and he says the hardware is fine. Pls help me guys. Im going mad.. :crying:
Somebody help me pls.. I think its a serious issue.. :crying:
same problems here...
An answer would be nice!
Guys its driving me crazy. I cant use it at all.. It gets heated up and turning off or reboots randomly. :crying::crying:

No bud. Not working. How about you?
I am a huge fan of custom roms and have flashed many of them, it was all fine before. but suddenly, this problem was omni-present in all roms. :crying: So i flashed the stock ROM version 4.1.2 (INDIA- XWLST) via mobile odin. it booted well after wiping cache and factory reset and was fine for a couple hours. After that the problem got massive. phone will restart or turn off when in screen-off. This continues even now in stock ROM. I tried everything from wiping cache, factory reset, dalvik cache wipe, fixing permissions and everything. But no results. THE MOST BIZZARE THING IS THAT PHONE IS FINE WHEN SCREEN IS ON. I experimented by keeping the screen on for an hour and nothing happened. THE MOMENT I PRESSED THE LOCK BUTTON, IT RESTARTS. Im going mad guys.. someone help meee.. :crying::crying:
EDIT: I think there's nothing wrong with the power button because it works well in all other places. If i remove the battery and reboot, I get a few seconds where i can lock and unlock screen. But again, it starts.
No can do guys???? there's no way to make my phone alright??? :crying:
