Hi guys. Sorry in advance for my english and I hope it's this the right path to explain my proble.
I made the OTA upgrade and, as you know, now my LG G2 D802 it fall in a continue loop with the CWM philz touch v.6
I made a wipe cache, wipe data...wipe everything but nothing helpfully.
I tried to get the download dome (Connect the usb cable while pressing volume up) but nothing appened.
The only way that i see it's work is the sideload metod.
I tried to tranfer via sideload method (adb interface via command line in windows) an image of a custom rom. When the transfer finisced i see on my LG display that now the new rom is installed (as the CWM told me), but when i reboot the sistem i fall anyway in the CWM.
Please how can i fix it? I made de sideload work....is there any way to replace the original recovery or/and the stock rom???
Thank

Hello mates,
I used the key combo [VOL-]+[HOME]+[POWER] to enter in recovery mode on my Optimus One and I had a big bad surprise: black screen and android icon with green arrow (classic symbol used for a system upgrade).
There was also a progress bar. I waited a few moments and then I was VERY SURPRISED when my Optimus One rebooted: it was formatted to factory settings.......
Not happy I tried another thing: using ADB I tried to enter recovery using the command "adb reboot recovery". Same as before: phone formatted to factory settings......
Not happy again, I tried another: "adb shell reboot recovery"... Same as before: formatted to factory settings......
any idea about this?
How can I enter recovery mode??
NOTE: my Optimus One is FULL original. No hacks, no modified roms, etc. 100% original settings.
thanks mates
Do you have a custom recovery installed ?
Hey man, I think we have one thing in mind....
I just did this 3-button COMBO...and yes it did a FACTORY RESTART/RECOVERY
I didn't install nor put files/custom recovery ROMS, I didn't do anything...Just tried the 3-button combo...
SO, there it is...
3-button (VOL- + HOME + POWER) = FACTORY DEFAULTS...
nice way to learn
Without rooting and custom recovery, this combo is meant for a factory reset.
I have NO root, NO custom recovery, NO custom rom: my O1 is 100% original.
so... is there any way to enter in recovery mode without factory reset?
Yes there is.
Root your phone, then install recovery.
How can you do something if your phone doesn't have it?
Read and follow the very well made tutorials posted.
I already read that
My question was if I can enter the STANDARD recovery, not a modded recovery...
The manual and the procedure your're speaking about are about how-to change the standard recovery...

There is none. That's the recovery, which just restores your phone to factory state.
perfect !
now I know how to do.
thanks guys

I need help desparately.. someone here please help me! i am looking forward to hear from you guys!!!
Install via ClockworkMod (do not use ROMManager for initial install):
Make sure you're running a rooted device.
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1118693)
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) - do it for real.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery.
Do not reboot! We mean it - do nothing except choose zip and continue next step (if you come back to us with permission issues in install, we will know you did not read the directions and will call you an idiot). If it just plain hangs, reboot directly back into ClockworkMod recovery and continue at the next step.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery, again (due to a bug in the install).
Reboot
Install the Google Addon through ROMManager which is easiest, but you can
download the gapps.zip and install via ClockworkMod recovery instead.

Hello
Today I've tried to unlock my bootloader of LG Optimus L9 (P760) and install a custom ROM. I managed to unlock the bootloader after a few hours (Windows 8.1 sucks in this and do it on Windows 7 netbook is even more harder) and install the CWM. Then I wanted to install CM11, but the installation failed. I didn't realize that I need special version of CWM for this.
Well, I wanted to enter fastboot again a flash CWM again, but I couldn't boot, because the system was now erased. I couldn't install stock ROM, because phone wouldn't connect, so I grabbed older CM9 and succesfully installed it through CWM.
Problem is, that even from there, I can't flash CWM (flash_image recovery recovery.img in terminal doesn't work - shows error "error scanning partitions failed with error -1" - yet another problem no one can solve). And also, phone won't connect to my PC properly, because there is no LG Software mode in CM. Because of that, I don't see the device in adb and can't reboot it into fastboot. I tried to do it via wi-fi adb, which however only reboots phone and doesn't put it into fastboot mode.
What should I do? I can't install stock ROM, which would help (LG update tool doesn't recognize phone now and any driver I tried for "LGE U2 Device" didn't work... If it was available as a rar installer for CWM, everything would be OK again), I can't reboot it into fastmode, I can't flash CWM in any other way and I'm stuck with CM9, which I hate.
I don't understand why there is no other way, how to get to fastboot. Every other LG Optimus has a key shortcut (vol -, power), except L models and that sucks... I'm completly desperate.

Fastboot on these devices is a pain... Make sure you have installed the fastboot drivers twice.
Try flashing the recovery.img with Flashify (root) app from the play store.

Thank you for your answer I got into fastboot afterall by using app named "Rebooter (fast reboot)". It allows to reboot phone and make it go immidiately to fastboot. So great, now I could rewrite the CWM and install ROM.
Unfortunately other problems appeared. I'm using the right version of CWM for installing KitKat Android ROMs (and I've tried others), but I'm still unsuccesful in booting them. Instalation goes OK (ROM + gapps), but booting then is pain in the ***. I can wipe dalvik, cache, system... and return the phone to factory settings through CWM as I want, but every ROM gets stuck everytime on the boot.
At first, it takes at least 15 minutes, until LG logo disappears and the animation of booting starts. I left all ROMs to boot for an hour. But it seems I'm without a chance. Did anybode have the same problem as me?
BTW: This is my 6th smartphone into which I installed alternative ROM. I swear, that this is the hardest piece of crap for installing those, I have ever seen
Edit: I tried other kernels, also without success. It's strange, that I can install only CM9 and PACman ROMs. CM11, Miui, Mokee - no chance

Hmm... That is strange. Are you getting any errors like "status 7 error" when you try to install any of the ROMs?

Nope. That was back when I had bad CWM installed. This one is however OK and install goes absolutely right. Right now I'm pretty sure, that problem isn't in kernel, cause I tried every I could find...

If I remember correctly I think the cwm for cm11 has a bug that doesn't wipe dalviks. So flash ROM with the cwm for cm11 then restore the other recovery to wipe data. Or use something like rm -rf /data/* through terminal adb and reboot.
Make sure you mount the data partition first if you use adb and terminal.

hey guys, i have a galaxy s2 here (gt-i9100) with non working volume keys and stuck in bootloop. i need to do the wipes but i cannot access recovery. HOWEVER, i made a really poor version of the jig (which totally works, btw) and i can access download mode. i have some questions
1) is there a way to reboot into recovery (i'm planning to flash twrp as it is touch based) from download mode? it doesn't matter if i have to flash things with odin
2) if i can't, is there a way to wipe data / factory reset from odin?
3) if i use a custom PIT and repartition won't it be the same as if i was wiping?
4) where's waldo
5) if i remember correctly i saw a custom kernel which enabled adb usage while the phone was still off but charging through a usb port in a computer. am i high?
thanks in advance
If I am correct you can use adb commands from Download Mode... Try flashing with odin TWRP or CWM with touch input and type on the Command Prompt "adb reboot recovery".. If you need anything else I am here..
well i got it working somehow, after installing stock rom i installed kernel dorimanx v8.43 it still got booloop but the adb commands were reaching the phone so i restarted to recovery and restored a paranoid android backup i had and it's working perfectly
Hi,
I have a samsung S3 and I want to update it to lollipop or above as my nexus 5 has started randomly rebooting and I need a phone to use whilst I sort a replacement.
I have been following this guide: wccftech.com/install-aosp-android-5-1-1-lollipop-on-galaxy-s3/ as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this custom rom business.
I have rooted the device and installed clockworkmod recovery v6.0.1.2. and copied over the rom and the gapps file to my phone.
I then booted into recovery mode and made a backup of the current setup.
I then did the factory reset and the cache wipe(s) and installed the new zip for lollipop and then the gapps.
This is where I received an error "E: Error in /sdcard/0/0/0/Download/gapps-lp-20150314.zip (status 7) installation aborted".
I figured that I should restore to my backup now but when I press it, the app says that files can't be found.
I can see that the files that I backed up do exist but they appear to have been dumped inside a new directory called /0/0/0 (I think this has got three levels because I've tried this a few times).
Now I can't boot into an OS to get any other roms on the phone and I can't edit the files on there (I googled and saw a possible fix for the gapp status 7) and I can't get clockworkmod to recognise an external SD card so I can copy over a new rom or file to try (I have googled and it's suggested the FAT32 is the format for this phone and my size of SD card (16GB)).
Can anyone offer me some advice on how to get out of this situation?
Thanks
Sounds like you're at a place where you should start exploring using your computer instead of a recovery in order to fix your system.
I recommend using the PC software Odin and installing a stock ROM of your device. (Or perhaps using fastboot)
There's plenty of guides on how to use Odin both here on XDA and on the rest of the internet if you just look around a bit
EDIT: This link contains a (possible) fix for your problem.

Don't use cwm as it is an outdated recovery. Use twrp instead.

I had a look at the link you suggested and it's one of the suggestions that had come up whilst I was googling for a fix. Unfortunately, I don't have any way to get the updated script onto the phone as the phone isn't picked up by my pc whilst it's in this state, and I can't get the recovery tool to recognise the sd card so I can't put it on there either.
I'll take a look at the stock rom or fastboot option and see if I can get back into the phone. Maybe then I can apply the fix in the suggested post.
Thanks

I'll see if I can install twrp through odin.
Thanks for your help
If the phone works in download mode, try to flash a stock rom too.
Update - fixed
Hi all, just wanted to let you know that I fixed the device with the combined advice from here:
I installed TWRP after holding the volume down + power + home buttons and then pressing volume up when the message appears (I can't remember what this mode is called). I then flashed the device with the TWRP image.
After this I rebooted into the TWRP recovery mode (Volume up + home + power and then release power button when the samsung logo appears).
At this point, the device appeared on my windows machine so I could upload a new image to the internal memory.
I decided to copy on CM13 and GApps.
I then wiped the cache, system, data, and davik cache using TWRP, then I installed CM13 and GApps.
After a reboot the device came back up as a new install.
Hopefully that information may be useful to somebody.
Thanks for all your help
