as far as I know, you can't root on NA7 just yet. I had to revert to MK1 and root with kingo. but beware the update included knox into the bootloader so you may void warranty.

Yeah I just saw that you could push recovery with odin and install super user too earlier today. Not much development for l600 think im going to buy a note 3 tomorrow.

Just FYI, the Note 3 only has single-band LTE, where the Mega is tri-band LTE. Sprint's new Spark network uses tri-band LTE to maximize speed, and the Note 3 doesn't have the right radio.

Im asking if there's any fool proof ways to root this configuration because i just bought the phone and dont wont to brick it like my s3 hard bricked. Any help or comments appreciated, thinking about just updating to 4.3 and waiting for a root method with that.

Don't update. You'll lose your ability to have a real custom recovery. Just stay on MDK and root. Then you can go ahead and flash a 4.3 ROM.

Should i factory reset and root before activating the phone with verizon?
I personally would just root, install custom recovery then wipe. After that pick a rom as most have ota updates disabled. Or install titanium backup pro and freeze the update apk's (I forget the file names)

Ok, is it safe to activate and root as long as i stop the OTA update?or just root and then activate? thanks for the replies by the way
Either way you do it just do not take the ota. I always root first and install custom recovery

Hello all,
I'd like to start by saying i am fairly new to the rooting/flashing scene and have really been researching everything diligently. I have searched the forums a ton and have found a lot of info that i wanted to run by you all and hopefully get a better understanding and better options. I've been wanting to simply root my Sprint Note 3 to get a feel for things before getting into flashing ROM's and recoveries. Here is what i have read so far (please correct me if i'm wrong)
1 - The most recent update by Designgears for the Root de la vega states that MJ4 can not be rooted without tripping knox. This was in october and currently it is almost the end of december. Is there a knox safe method of rooting with MJ4 at the time of writing this?
2 - CF auto root definitely trips knox
3 - Kingoroot supposedly doesn't trip knox even on MJ4, but i haven't found anything specific by the XDA devs vouching for kingoroot again since the controversy. Has kingoroot fixed the problems everyone was contesting?
4 - I'm a little confused as to the different firmwares like MI5, MJ4, MJ7 and so on. Are these for different carriers or just updates to the firmwares of the same carrier in some chronological order?
5 - The bootloaders are in the firmware itself. Is that a correct understanding?
Thank you all for your help and responses and if i've missed something i appreciate your patience in correcting me.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this or not but I came across this method through Google. It worked for my Verizon Note 2 with the OTA 4.3 update. I also used Foxfi until the update. With Titanium Backup, I froze the KNOX security and Foxfi works again without asking to contact VZW. Thanks to the Devs who are responsible for this method. I hope it is ok that I shared the link.

I don't think that downgrading is possible without tripping the KNOX security counter. As far as the s4, this root version should root the phone, and I believe that I have read somewhere about a safestrap app thst allows you to flash roms and such.

I have had no success with this method as yet. I run the script, and it seems to run fine, then after it's rebooted, when it says to run SuperSU, and let it update if it asks, the update always fails. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Found a way around it?

The prior update activated all the LTE radios in the Mega (3 I think). This update may have tweaked that code for performance and/or connectivity.
Has anyone noticed LTE data connection errors with NA7? I am going to try and flash back to MK1 because i have had no LTE data after upgrading to NA7 ... ive flashed NA7 3 times now and done several ##RTN#s still no luck
keep getting the error "unable to establish mobile data connection ESM - x EMM - 15"
I got LTE with 2 bars in my area when I didn't have it before the update. Doesn't work with kingo root either. Continues to say "NeedRoot". Hell, the phone seems slower too.

As of now guys we all are stuck with a locked and stock 4.4 sch-i605. When or if they find a method i dont know if knox would be a huge deal at that point. I rooted my wifes sch-i747 (att s3) and supersu disabled knox no problem. Seems that the devs may have moved on to other projects. Lets just hope SOMEONE gets around to our device. --waiting patiently--
Considering that Knox is the premier security program to be included on every Android L phone not just Samsung, I doubt the amount of time needed to circumvent is not worth the effort on the 605. Don't hold your breathe that we will ever get root.

the only thing you can do (and idk if everyone can do it) is to odin flash back to 4.3 (MJ9) and then root from there.
unfortunately that doesnt include a bootloader unlock. but then you can safestrap and install /any/ touchwiz rom

Yes, I did this myself on my phone before I switched out the motherboards.
From ND7, you can flash back to MJ9, and then you can root, and then use safestrap to install certain specific ROMs
I will edit this post if i find a link to a tutorial
Damn I downgraded from ND3, not ND7, my apologies.
Here is the Link anyway http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2752360
I don't have a way to test if there is a way to downgrade.

Cool. Thanks for the confirmation. I knew you could go from ND3 back to MJ9, but I had read somewhere else where someone speculated that you couldn't revert back to MJ9 from ND7 due to the locked bootloader issue... I'm still on 4.1.2 with unlocked bootloader, so I can't test it either.
