Turned off all animations in dev options and now Knock On works Flawlessly every Time!
Before this I had to knock about 3 times.
Also phone is super snappy and faster.

Nope, Stock rooted. I don't need a rom. None are very stable anyways.
funny.. i dont have such problem ..I can knock on with 2 taps without problem... and I love to see the transition animation when we rotate the phone or open and close any apps.
I'm not really sure it's the transitions, animations.
But kk is much better than jb (knock on..)
Things that would matter are sensors. Proxmity sensor for example, maybe light.

We already have an option for this. Go to settings -> Gestures -> and disable Screen on/off (first option)
Are you sure it is faster? Or is it just that the animation scale is turned off and so it looks faster. Scale Off = no animations at all.
Also, it made no difference to how much my knock on worked. It was just as unreliable after as before.

Maybe I am missing something here...
If you turn off animations, then when you do stuff that animates, it won't. Even turning the screen on and off is animated (it fades in/out over a few tenths of milliseconds).
So, yes, of course it looks snappier. But that is where the buck stops. Nothing is actually faster about the phone as far as running processes is concerned.
Unless I am missing something here and someone cares to explain. We should at least relegate this to Myth Confirmed or Myth Busted status.
Just for the fun on it, do this:
Window Animation: 10x
Transition Animation: 10x
Animator Duration scale: 10x
That is what it does and that is what it does not do when turned off.

It's no faster. It is just a placebo.
Also, doing this screws with the knock of on the status bar, as it will pop up the "Date & Time Settings" instead of turning the screen off (at least in KK)...

Doesn't seem to be an issue with 4.2.2. I think some people were missing the point of the post though, it wasn't so much about speed as making knock on work every time. Trying out now, so far so good.

Am I the only one who finds this still a bit of an issue. Its much better than before but I still get some lag issues and unresponsiveness if my phone sits for a while. Takes an extra swipe sometimes. Its very annoying seeing as its one of the most basic functions of the phone. Both answering a call and just waking out the phone for other reasons.

All and any lock screen lag has completely disappeared from my phone.... it's beautiful.
It does have the side effect of the battery life sucking again though.

Hey guys maybe you will know. I keep reading everywhere that Sense 4+ has power saver mode and I have seen it on multiple screenshots under the Battery option under settings. When I look under Battery on my DNA I am not seeing this option. Is this something that just runs all the time in the background on the DNA?

I must be going crazy, I had a menu button that said "Power Saver" right above the "Usage" button.
No I think you're right. I remember seeing one, which is why it's driving me insane trying to find it. It keeps disconnecting my data at night, making my skype useless (I like to stay up late). I think an update to the software actually got rid of the option. Because I remember seeing it before.
I know viper has the power saver in there Rom never seen it outside of the viper Rom without being rooted

Hi everyone,
I used LG2 for quiet some times. I found that the knock on feature is very handy. Anyone could found any app that resemble that?
You've posted in the wrong section, but the only one I could find (I only searched for two minutes) was the whole G2 launcher that includes the knock on feature. It looks like it works on most phones, but you're also forced to use the ugliest and worst launcher in the world.
You must be rooted and you can download it here:

I just tried that, by pushing apps with right permissions in system/app, but it doesn't work.
I don't know if there's a switch to turn that on or off, but as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't work at all, it's just a simple launcher with no functions at all...

Double tap to wake is a function of the kernel. It has been around long before the G2 in custom kernels (i.e. HTC One with Bulletproof kernel). It is on the Z tablet and a shame Sony did not bring it to the Z Ultra.

I just use Screen Off app from the Playstore. Why should I double tap if I can just single tap it's app icon to make the screen sleep and lock?! To wake it is another thing though. I tested some kernel back then with my SG Note II that do that (touch screen to wake) but it was buggy!
So, it would be if we could find this feature in Google Play (with or without root). I am willing to donate for this feature. Especially the phone is big, would be nice if we can turn on the screen without having to pick up the phone from the table.

There are at least 10 options to turn the screen off, and only half of them require root.
The cool thing to do would be turning the screen ON, or better yet, having the possibility to turn it on and off with two taps on the screen.
If you ever try an LG G2 you will know why that would be cool.
I personally use GMD gesture and turn the screen off pinching three fingers, that's really showing off with all my colleagues and friends...

Well after using this device, a double tap gesture is not that required and maybe introducing additional issue considering its size and weight distribution in the hand. Plus with the flip case it comes with, turn off and on based on proximity sensor is the more elegant way to run this beast. I made my self a tasker script for that and i love it all the more

You know, I really don't seem to get the grip of Tasker. I install it once in a while, try something, nothing ever works, I give up and uninstall it.
I would really like a full guide on this neat program.
I bet you could even make a task for waking up/putting to sleep the phone by a tap on the SmartWatch 2 (a user made a Tasker extension for it here on XDA)...

Just search for "wave2wake" in the PlayStore app...
Works for me, but it's way too sensitive. And sometimes it just won't notice when I wave.
I say it definitely needs more development, but seeing that since I installed it (yesterday) it already received an update, I also say we're in good hands.

I'm running on stock rom and stock kernel. I have disabled locations for google apps, all other apps including wheather are able to check for locations. I have sync enabled for gmail, facebook, wheather, whatsapp and exchange. As you can see I was on wifi most of the time and a few hours on 2G/3G/H. You are right with that xposed stuff! Currently running at 380dpi. My screen brighness is on auto with a preset of 50%. My usage behaviour is moderate and includes checking facebook, whatsapp, emails and xda app. I also do much browsing and a few benchmarks and camera shots. I don't play games that much. Personally I think that disabling NFC, GPS and bluetooth saves you a lot of battery. Smart Stay is also disabled because I don't really need that and it's keeping the sensors awake all the time. I should also mention that I have a flip cover with Quick Window enabled. I hope this helps you a little bit. Most of the battery drain is caused by unneccesary wakelocks.I can recommend to check these wakelocks with an app called 'wakelock detector'. As you can see, in my case there is only 1% of wakelocks, where others have 10-20% and this is what's causing the high battery drain. It's all about optimisation! If you have further questions please feel free to ask (but rather in the battery thread cause this might become a bit off topic).

Knock-On, Wireless storage, Quick Remote, Clip Tray...
Aptx, gram, quick remote, wireless storage, legit knock on. Ohh yeah, stability.
I used to use clip tray. Loved it. Missing from aosp roms though.
knock on, quick reply, smart screen, quick remote..
until proper replacement app is found, no AOSP for me.
For that slight lag we get especially going into the app drawer I figured I try switching to Art instead of Dalvik and BAM lag was gone and feels much snapper for sure.
I do think it made my G3 snapper, but over time it just created more issues than it solved. I recently started using Nova Launcher Prime again and it's definitely faster than the stock one. That's a good enough bump in speed for me for now.
I did this about 4 days after owning the device, and since then, its been nothing but positives for me. It also seems as if it REALLY boosts battery life (almost doubled mine)
I switched about 2 weeks ago and honestly I cant tell any difference. I am using Apex Launcher
What lag ?
Sent from my LGLS990 using Tapatalk
Just switched to art myself yesterday... The lag is nonexistence now which is awesome, but is there a way to make some of the app compatible? (I searched but came up with, nothing) sorry for the stupid question
The lag exist just a few secs in the app drawer when you flip through the 1st or 2nd page. To another post you don't notice lag if you use a launcher. I personally like to use the stock launcher.
Finally making the switch to ART today. So far, so good. I will edit if I encounter issues.

Tried ART on 2 separate occasions for roughly a week. Both times, I had random freezes or reboots every day or 2. None of these issues on Dalvik.
Using Nova Launcher and that minimizes apparent lag for me.
