Lately I've been noticing my battery life isn't doing as it good as it used to be. Nothing troubling, but enough to make me want to look into getting a battery saver.
I've tried Juice defender but it won't ask for SU permissions for reasons unknown, therefore it doesn't work because the app log shows up tons of errors without permissions.
I have looked up on Google for other battery savors but most sites say Juice defender. What else can you guys recommend? Or maybe help me with juice defender? Thanks guys in advance!

I use greenify too. Also the ktweaker app within the ktoonsez kernel has some pretty good battery saving abilities. Specifically project Icarus profile does pretty well on my phone.

So many to choose from

I've used JD and it worked, but in all honesty 2x Battery by AZSoft works better than that. Get the Pro version so you can enable night mode and all of the features. I've tried GreenPower too. That one works, but I found that it disabled stuff too well and I wasn't getting notifications when I wanted to. I have 2x set up to sync every hour during the day and 2 hours at night. I'm also using CPU Tuner and Greenify. I'm not a power user, but I do use my phone and end up using about 3-4% per hour.

yea ill deff check it out.. i have good battery life now but could always use more!!! thanks bro..
Did battery saver pro help? Did you notice any change?
na.. better battetry stats is the app i need cause it shows me whats keeping the phone awake.. i think i have tryed just about every battery app.. i dont think they really work.. thats just me though.. well juice defender is the best i think..
betterbatterystats is the best battery saving app out there in my opinion. wake locks drain battery, BBS shows you what exactly is keeping your phone awake. many times it has helped me get rid of useless **** apps that suck and suck juice while my device was in my pocket.
also, to the OP, mine shows the same usage for both of those most of time. don't worry, it is normal.
Guys which is better???? Anybody tried out both on GSM RAZR?
They're pretty different. Like, different purposes. Smart actions is more about controlling things on-off.
Juice defender is more.. Fluid. It can add more intervals and similar things. I use both in conjunction for a fuller coverage.

i prefer juice defender ultimate for saving battery as it has much for functions dedicated for you to do so
I don't use any. I just let Android do out as the other apps will mess up your phone with how Android handles memory allocation.

yup i too dont use any apps because ICS has smarter garbage management system

Juice Defender has nothing to do with memory, it triggers data connection, wifi, brightness, background data, 3g/2g.
I think JD is much better then then Smart Actions.
I've found with juice defender and ics battery is rubbish. Take it off and reboot and its fine

Smart Actions has improved my battery life dramatically... I never have had much luck with Juice Defender. I just have it stop background sync when screen off. Saves a lot of battery....

...but JD can turn on background data every 5 15 30 (of your choice) and check your emails, talk, fb messages when screen is off. SA don't turn on background data when you have screen off for example 3 hours.
Correct me if I wrong.

Juice Defender is more difficult to handle in my opinion, but is more powerful if you spend time to configure it.
I actually tried juice defender and it messed up my phone. Smartaction is the way to go
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
Same juice defender is awful. Really messed my phone up. I'm sticking with smart actions or just leaving it alone. I wouldn't use anything but it helps slow things down when it gets over worked.. My phone used to get hot and have a ton of processes going at once. Now it stays cool and runs smooth with it killing background sync when display is off...

I don't understand why I'm getting such awful battery life; I've heard such good things about AOSP as far as battery life is concerned. I've got screen on auto, and I used incredicontrol to set my governor (I think that's what it is called) to conservative. Can anyone help me dissect the problem?

Just be patient. The kinks silk aren't worked out and we don't have any real kernels out yet except for meadows kernel but it's still new. The kernel makes a huge difference on any Rom.

How long was your screen on? If 1.5 hours or so, I would say your close to normal depending on what you were doing.
Get Better Battery Stats and see how long your phone is in Deep Sleep..and if not very long, you can see what is keeping it awake..
I didn't use it at all; I checked it after first block and it had lost about 10 percent. Then I checked it after second and that's what it was at

Your pic says the screen took 44% of the power. Consider the signal strength in your school. If you have a weak signal the phone uses more power. Maybe try airplane mode for part of the day. Also, I have found I get better battery life on the network as opposed to my school's wireless. The school's wireless is always polling the phone resulting in greater drain.
Here's the link to Better Battery Stats on XDA... FREE XDA versions are found at the bottom of post #2. I/We don't have your phone so other than general statements we are of little help. Get BBS and see what is using the juice...that's how I found out the school's wireless was waking my phone all the time.

well from what i see you have google now or some transit app running. those tend to take up a ton of battery. use the bettery battery stats that someone posted and see whats running. once you find out you can use an app like autostarts to keep stuff like that not running when it doesnt need to.
Also another way to tell whats running is to go to settings > apps > running. if you see a process you dont like running just kill it and try to stop it with autostarts. I know from experience that facebook is one of these pain in the a$$ apps that always wants to be running for some god forsaken reason. Anyway just start with that. thats probably your main problem as i can also see you have juice defender, which is probably helping battery.
There wasn't a download for it; only someone's text information. Does anyone have an APK for it? I don't have the money for it Before school starts tomorrow I'll be sure to kill running apps. Also, I wasn't on the school's Wi-Fi at any point because we don't have Wi-Fi, my high school is poor. Lol

I found his APK link, nevermind! Also, do I just leave it running over night and while I'm at school to discern the problem?

autostart app won't run in foreground so you don't have to kill it. it'll stop access as it needs to based on what you disabled from automatically starting. be careful what you prevent from starting up cause it can defect your setup requiring a fresh flash install
This is my battery life just a few minutes before I posted it yesterday; I took it off the charger at the same time. For some reason yesterday the android system ran much longer than today; the difference is obvious on my battery life.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
the 3 best things to do is keeping brightness down/off whenever possible, using better battery stats to monitor partial wakelocks and keeping apps from running too long in the foreground

A good thing to do would be, charge it Friday night, take it off the charger Saturday morning and let it sit on the counter of 1 hour, preferably 2 hours, then check to see what has been waking it up. You can google what you find to determine what process they're related to if not obvious to you.
For anyone who may use this program can you answer a quick question for me? Can I control what apps are allowed to use data? For example I have a game like Dice with Buddies. I can not turn off or control when it looks for updates/new games. I'd like it to only search when I open the app. Could juice defender allow me to stop that without disabling the app? Maybe stick it on a 8 hour timer or something like that? Just wondering

Thanks.
With juice defender you'll be able to control synching times and add apps to a whitelist.

imho its not needed on the one ... with powersaver its more than enough to get 18+ hours easy
Juice defender does you no favors. Use tasker and greenify to squeeze that juice.

I didn't really notice any difference with Juice Defender.
I use both Snapdragon Battery Guru and Greenify. With these 2 apps I get 20 hours most of the time with around 20% left when I get home. My CPU is underclocked slightly but my GPU is overclocked for gaming.

Hey I had a question. Seems like when start to use my phone for whatever the battery dies pretty fast. But when I don't it seems to just stay at that last percent. Android is using a lot of battery. I asked earlier about if I removed the bloat ware if that would help. Seems it would. But what about using this app called greenify. Have some people tried it ? I've read that it causes the apps to stay in hibernation until you use them. And getting cpu tuner helps too.
