Yes the G2 can detect if you have full root with the LG Rootdector. From my understanding you can flash back to stock and all Indication will be removed. I haven't tried that myself so I can really say if it true. But again I also don't use warranties either. That's what I pay insurance for ☺

Will I be able to accept an OTA if boot loader is unlocked?

So I have been looking all over the forums for the answer to this question but have not been able to find it. My Optimus G is rooted and has the boot loader unlocked via Free Gee. Still running the stock ROM with LG Skin. Question is if and when the 4.1 update releases will I be able to update or will I have to lock the boot loader again? Appreciate any help a lot of helpful info out here.

Don't accept any otas once you are rooted and unlocked. There will be a pretty good chance that the ota will have a fix that will break the root and/or unlock.
Actually, you can freeze "com.lge.lgfota.permission" and "com.lge.omadm.client" in ti bu. That will prevent the ota notification.

Okay I thought that would be the case, just wanted to double check before that came out. So do you think that it would be all good to install if I just locked the boot loader back or would I need to completely unroot my device as well?

Pretty sure the ota would just unroot and lock your phone unless you are on a custom ROM.
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
That's what I was thinking too because my last Android phone before this one was the Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch and every time I installed an ota it would remove root.

You can't accept an ota because of custom recovery and the unlocked bootloader; otas will fail to apply and you'll be suck rebooting into recovery until we fix your misc.

[Q] How will we know when it is released?
Other than keeping an eye on the media, how will we know when it is being released for our phone?
Is there a preferred site that we should be monitoring?
Will LG release it before AT&T tries to send it OTA? If so would it not have all the bloat that AT&T likes to add?
That's enough questions for now.
Thanks for answering...

That is what I have been doing, just checking the Internets and going that I see that article that says "Hey U.S. Optimus G users its finally here"!
I just wish LG would get the ball rolling on this soon, but hopefully releasing it in Korea is a sign that it is coming...

LG G2 KitKat rolling out in Sweden

Just received OTA in Sweden.
Need to go back to stock first though, but it's out.
EDIT: Debunk, it wasn't KitKat, just one guy (me) who was a little too excited and one guy (my friend) who thought he was sure it was KitKat, but it wasn't.

D802 as far as I know.
Indeed I have a D802. Like I said, I'm not stock yet. Working on it. Once I am I will supply screenshots and the lot.
Currently running this for a fast and total reset. (Does it remove recovery..?)

Can you download the kdz using your imei?
Okay **** this **** atm....
I can't get back to stock. God knows when the upgrade tool decides to accept that my phone IS connected.

Can't you get into recovery (I mean the stock one)? Maybe a Hard Reset would get you out of bootloop.
Also, could you please check out for us the kdz thingy faxe78 mentioned?
I'm. In D82010a and I never got any OTA at all. Rooted too

Yeah, just tried the hard reset and it worked. Weird.
Will be taking the dive in a moment, stand by.
Edit: Fail on my and my friends part. We received some other 4.3 update. I never saw a version number, but he pulled it and claimed it was 4.4.2. It was not.
I apologize that I let his, apparent, poor knowledge of Android give us false hope. Sigh.

You'd need to use IORoot assuming by G2 you mean the LG G2, however I'm unsure if IORoot has support for 4.4.2 yet.

How to root v10 on T-Mobile 6.0?

I had to send my v10 to LG for warranty repair. When I got it back in the mail it had been updated to latest mm 6.0. I got the bootloader unlocked using root methods posted but can't get twrp to flash using standard adb. Is there any possible way to root on this software version?? If not I'm gonna have to get another phone can't stand no root. Screenshot attached shows my software version. Thanks.
There is currently no method to root on the official 6.0 update. Unfortunately there is also no way to rollback to LP.
You're stuck with a lot of other good people who are waiting and hoping for someone to get this figured out hopefully soon... Including those with the tmobile version of the G5.
The general idea and hope seems to be that the method will be the same for both and it will be found/released soon!

Go into the Development section and read Eliminater74s V20 Thread... The last few pages discusses it.

Testers needed

Hi everyone,
Root is coming. Im getting my aboot back now and going to make a kdz. There is a huge chance that your phone could break so I'm really looking for somebody who is either under warranty or doesn't care about their v10 because they have a new phone. I can't do it because this is my daily phone and I don't have warranty. Any help would be great. Message below

You have warranty or your highly aware that this hasn't been tested and if it fails it could be a complete brick?
So, nobody tested it yet?
What do you want to test?
Just the root?
TWRP?
both

Are you still in need of testing? I just got this V10 from Verizon as replacement for my 1st V10 bootlooping. Soooo I've got 90 days full warranty plus tmp if needed.
Let me know I'm down to test. I understand that I'll most likely create a brick or that I need to adopt that mindset as its a possibility. That's okay with me.

I've no spare phones but not having root on the same phone I had root on is driving me a little insane. Factor in the possible bootloader unlock and it's potential and I don't care if I have to use a 15 dollar flip phone for awhile.
I'm just unaware of the testing situation. If its needed yet or not and if so if it's ready for testing???
