Should I update to kit Kat? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I see lots of people having trouble with the update. Battery life, speaker turning on during calls and bunch of other things. So I was just wondering if I should wait until HTC fixes the bugs and has a new update.
Thanks

id say yes even im having issues on mms for my phone on kit kat on srtaight talk , ive read articles and saw on in articular that states you need to downgrade to get mms working on the htc one m7

I never took the update, I've been running Sense based custom roms on kit kat and my phone has run great.
Just instaled insertcoin 6th sense. Its only been a couple days but the phone seams faster and smoother (as if it wasn't already)

I just through a jelly bean 4.3 Rom on my phone because of some of the issues with kit Kat.

Leaked JB RUU with Sense 4.5 for One X

I'm reading in that thread that the system portion is corrupt, so it doesn't seem like it's going to be usable for anything.
Dang how did we go from Sense 4.1 to 4.5 so quickly? lol
Is it android 4.1 or 4.0.4? strictly a sense update?
Jellybean is 4.1.1

HTC tends to update Sense when it updates the Android version.
For example, I'm quite sure that the Evo Shift went from Sense 1 to Sense 2.1 when it got updated to Gingerbread, and the Evo 3D got updated from Sense 3.0 to Sense 3.6 when it updated to ICS.
It'll probably be much the same as Sense 4.0/4.1 but it'll have more JB features.
Since this is a jb thread I think sprint is doing a better job w updates. Reason I'm lead to believe this is I just got the update for jb on my gn meanwhile the vzw doesn't have anything official. So as long as sprint does a good job with approving it i think we will see jb by November as long as htc doesn't drag ass. It took 29 days from the one x getting updated to 4.0.4 to us getting it which is a rather quick turn around Imo.

You guys can probably port it. If the nexus s and galaxy s devices can port ics sense 4 from the tegra3 one x, you guys should be able to. Just plop the proprietary files in and change the build.prop and cm10 kernel and you should be set

I wonder if that ruu was actually meant for the One x+ and that's why no one could get it to work.

I'm sorry, but Filet Mignon with Sense is still Sense.
im ready!! for some jelly bean babyyy!!!
This ARTICLE has a nice little tidbit of information in it:
Sprint has finally started rolling out Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G. The update starts this evening and will be available to all handsets over the next few weeks.
For those new readers that don’t quite remember the Galaxy Nexus, the device features a 4.65-inch 720p display, a 5-megapixel camera, and Android 4.0 ICS. The Nexus S, on the other hand, is Google's 2010 Android flagship and also runs Android 4.0.
The upgrade, which is standard over-the-air, includes a great deal of improvements with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. These include enhancements to the keyboard, a buttery-smooth UI, and more advanced notifications. The update also includes Google Now, Google's answer to Siri.
Sprint also says that it plans to upgrade various other devices to Jelly Bean. including the HTC EVO 4G LTE and Samsung Galaxy S3. We should be hearing more about those updates soon.
Per usual, there will be manual update options available if you don't feel like waiting for the OTA, and you can find the download link and instructions on Know Your Cell as soon as it's posted.
If you're not one for manual updates, Sprint usually rolls these out in phases, so you shouldn't have to way too long. They usualy arrive within a few weeks.
Are you excited about Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on your Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G?

I don't care if HBoot 1.15 isn't cracked before it's released, I'll still take that update.
So I attempted to port a sense 4.5 ROM based on 4.0.4, not 4.1.1 and it's stuck at the bootanimation and I cant get logcat going to fix anything
Really want to see the changes from 4.1 to 4.5.
For those wondering about the jump from 4.1 to 4.5 this is standard programming practice. This shows there were 4 minor revisions between the two. Those can be anything from adding or removing base apps to fixes or features added in. It is up to the developer to make decisions of what makes for a major upgrade.

I agree. I am not concerned with minor changes to Sense. In some cases you won't want to update anyway because of compatibility with kernel or other reasons.

[Q] What would be the best ROM for me?

Hello everyone!
With the new S-OFF Finally up to par, I now have unlocked my DNA! I am looking to switch from the 4.1.1 that comes with the phone to 4.2.2 but can't seem to make heads nor tails of the newer ROM threads. Here's what I am looking for:
Wireless Charging Working
HTC Media Link Working
SENSE 5.0 is a huge plus
Better Battery
Better Performance
Less bloatware
Root is optional
TOGGLES!!!
Please everyone, let me know your experience on what is the most complete ROM for this phone to use on a regular basis. I have tried looking over the ROM threads, but these days they look like a lot of tech info without the easy to read points in there
Thanks!
If you want 4.2 then you won't be getting sense.

Well, I could do without as long as the rest is working. What would be best in that case? Odd no 4.2.2 Sense 5 out yet.
Newtoroots sense 5 rom is a good sense 5 rom meets all of your requirements but it isn't on 4.2.2 but when that's released to this phone the rom will be updated to 4.2.2

Thanks, installed the ROM yesterday. Pretty nice, can't wait for 4.2.2 or 4.3!

4.1.2 Roms?

Does ANYONE have any non stock 4.1.2 Sense ROMs with WiFi calling? I've been trying to huntdown Android Revolution 9.3 JB 4.1.2 but can't find it anywhere :-/

Man...i'm doing the EXACT same thing today for about the last 4 hours. I've gone from Orio to renovate and in between. I really needs my wifi calling.
Haven't really seen any non-stock sense roms around here yet. I'd assume that if it has sense, it would also have wifi calling though.

Well apparently it was very easy to get the WiFi calling apk in stock Tmo roms to work on other versions of Sense JB 4.1.2. That's what I'm looking for.
I find it incredibly frustrating that I can't find ARHD 4.1.2 >:-{

I have ARHD old versions 7.4,8.0, 9.2, 9.4 saved to my HD and I believe all support wifi calling, can upload whichever you prefer if you can figure out when mike went to 4.2
I use TrickDroid 5.6.0 (HTC One) it's 4.1.2 and has wifi calling etc.
I can't post a link as a newbie but if you search for it you will find it.
e.g. trickdroid.org/category/one/
Yes that is something I would love to see, something along the lines of viper with 4.1.2 and wifi calling... That would be my new daily rom until the update came out. TBO I think I will be going back to trickdroid 4.1.2 I think t-mobile has been doing something to the towers around here been getting a lot of in and out of service.
Sometimes you really can't tell the difference between the stock Rom and many other Roms out there.

Just the other day I actually went over to the ARHD thread in the HTC One and searched for WiFi Calling and found the ARHD 9.4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43912050&postcount=38209
On another occasion I searched for TrickDroid 5.6.0 in Google and found their website. But as of this moment the site is down. Maybe give it a minute otherwise I could upload to my Dropbox and give you a link.
Out of the two, I prefer TrickDroid 5.6.0 just due to the customization options that are available.
But the one thing I love about the ARHD Rom, other than it's stability and close to stock feel, is their battery icon.
:silly::silly::silly::silly::silly::silly:
Turns out I didn't have TrickDroid 5.6 on my laptop so I had to download it to update my wife's phone. I went to their website http://trickdroid.org/category/one/ and the FTP Server 4 is a real link and downloading. The other four didn't work, but it's downloading now and hopefully it keeps going.

Kit Kat 4.4

I heard rumor of kit kat 4.4 becoming available for htc one max on Dec 25th. Any confirmation to this? If so, will we need to do anything to a rooted phone to get the oTA update?
where did you hear that?
and, generally speaking, if you want a factory update, you need to bring your phone back to its stock state..
Don't expect kit kat until after the release of the M8

Sounds like that article is for Asian versions of the phone.
Maybe the One Max will be different, but on my wife's rooted, unlocked bootloader, & s-off Galaxy Nexus, installing KitKat meant I could either lock on to 3G and make phone calls or obtain 4G lock only but couldn't do both. I stayed up half the night researching it, and apparently KitKat was having problems playing nice with custom rooted devices. I finally had to drop back to 4.3 for the Nexus to operate correctly.
Again your experience could be different, but at least do your research before going forward if/when we ever receive KitKat.
the OS you are on has nothing to do with it; the only thing that matters is whether you are on a GSM network, or a CDMA..

Don't worry HTC is not going to make their phone & software that bad
I guess it's because the software for the GNex, the AOSP guys would fix those soon

On the second thought, The HTC one already has 4.4 for the dev versions and i have not heard any complaints on root.
Everything I am reading says the One max, is essentially a One with a bigger screen and a fingerprint scanner. Will the One custom roms not work at all on the max? If all the hardware is essentially the same, why wouldn't it work with some ppi tweaks?
BTW, not sure about the Galaxy Nexus, but I have tried two different variations of Kit Kat 4.4 on my One, and both work flawless. I am running the Beanstalk variant now.

That being said, HTC tends to be a little more friendly to the modders. And seeing as there are a bunch of 4.4 roms on the one, I will be shocked if you all don't see a custom 4.4 within a couple of weeks.
Surely Max won't be long for KitKat since the normal One unlocked and dev had it already!

[Q] DNA & FitBit App - 4.2.2

I am looking for a way to get the FitBit app to work with my Wife's DNA. She is running 4.2.2 (latest VZW OTA Patch) and the app will not work due to Bluetooth compatibility issues. I have searched without luck to find a way to get the app working on a stock DNA with JB 4.2.2. Rooting is not an option right now, but if I can convince her I will root the phone. She would rather buy a HTC One before rooting but I don't want to spend that money because the FitBit devs won't touch a non 4.3+ device. So any suggestions would be helpful.
I have tried the xposed FitBit app that you can find on one of the XDA pages. That didn't work either.
Never rooted a HTC device, so I don't know which ROMs I should start with. (I have a Note 2 that was running Carbon then CM11) Not sure if there is a good HTC Sense ROM that wouldn't be over the top for someone who never used anything but stock.

You need 4.3 or 4.4 for the modified Fitbit app to work (I'm not sure what xposed app you're talking about), but I've had no problems syncing my Force with CM11, AOSPA 4.0 beta, and the Blackout GPE rom. If you're looking for stock, there's a port of the One's stock 4.4 rom.

Thanks for confirming this. I guess I have to convince her to root. Hopefully she doesn't pull some v-day BS and trick me in to getting her a new phone.

I will have to look at that ROM. My wife is still on the fence about rooting her phone, but it is cheaper than getting her a phone that is officially supported by FitBit
