[Updated 1-7-2012] THE BEGINNERS (N00B) GUIDE!!! N00BS LOOK HERE FOR YOUR HOW TOs
I don't think the bootloader is unlocked, and I'm not sure how I can do that since I can't boot.

As terminator 1983 said, you need to unlock your bootloader. Click through the link that was posted and read up on the unlocking process. You'll see that involves being in RSD mode, and flashing the pudding .sbf. Then reflash CWM, and re-install your ROM.
Alright, I clicked the link, and scrolled down to HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER. The first option, the link is dead. The second option, which seems to be easiest, the download link is dead also. Is there any other way I can get the file "Full 2.3.4 with preinstall root and pudding bootloader unlock, full sbf" ? Then using RSD Lite to flash that should be all I need.
Also, in that second option, I scrolled down to the second post since I'm not an ATT user, and tried doing the CMD commands, but when I put in the first command "fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img" it says this is not a command.

make sure you run the command from the same folder your fastboot.exe is at. Also, any file you are trying to flash has to also be in that folder.
i.e. fastboot.exe and preinstall image are in c:\atrix, then cd into c:\atrix and then run your commands.
Sorry, I can't help with the dead links.
*Edit*Btw, you can just get the pudding .sbf from here, instead of using the automatic ones.
Alright, moved fastboot and the img into the same folder, ran the commad, and it says the following:
"sending 'preinstall'
OKAY
writing 'preinstall'
FAILED (status read failed (unknown error))
finished"
followed the link you provieded to the main pudding thread, downloaded the IHOP file for international useds, flashed the SBF succesfully, but I'm just where I was before.
When following this guide http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader I type in the command in fastboot and it says OEM Fastboot Not supported.
Need help here guys.
Edit: Tried again and it gave me my code, redid the command with the code, this time it said ERROR: Failed to write.
Okay, making progress now, checked my phone and it said Your phone is not unlocked. Rebooted and not instead of saying Unable to boot 2 Starting RSD Mode, all it says is unlocked. I'm able to get into recovery mode, but it's the default android recovery in blue. What else can I do?

Glad to hear you got it unlocked. I would recommend flashing romracer's recovery. Make sure to read through the first 2 posts of that thread. There is a file you have to delete in order for it to stick. Since you're familiar with fastboot now, I would just use that method to install.
After that, follow the instructions to install your ROM of choice.

I've downloaded the Light green version, placed the img in a folder along with fastboot and the 2 dll files associated with fastboot, ran cmd to that folder, typed in the first command, and it says it's not an external or external command. Is there something else I should be doing?
Whattheheck, may as well copy what I posted on another forum for some additional info:
Hello, I've been on many forum sites looking for a fix for my problems, but nothing SO here's my story. I have a rooted Motorola Atrix on Bell. I installed the app "System Recovery" and used that to flash recovery, then booted into recovery and installed the rom "Neutrino Rom EE". The problem is, I didn't unlock my bootloader, so every time I tried turning my phone on it'd say "Failed to boot 2. Starting RSD mode." I used the guide "How To: Unlock the Atrix 4G Bootloader" on Breifmobile (can't post link) to unlock my bootloader, and from what I can see (my phone being stuck at the boot screen with a motorola logo and the word UNLOCKED in the top left) it worked. Problem is now I'm stuck here. I can access the menu by holding pwr and vol down, then I can select an option. I tried selecting Android Recovery, and this brings me to the default recovery, but there's nothing I can do here. I can still access RSD mode and Fastboot from the menu, so perhaps there's a fix from there.

Download CWM recovery img file from here (not the zip one)
[Unlocked Only][RECOVERY][2011-11-14] Custom CWM-based Recovery 5.0.2.7-atrix5
Place the recovery img file in fastboot folder and type these commands on command prompt after getting to fastboot folder.
fastboot erase recovery (it will erase the earlier recovery)
fastboot flash recovery recovery-blue-atrix5.img
The second command will flash the recovery img on your device you will have to change this portion "recovery-blue-atrix5" of the command according ur revcover img name or rename ur recovery img with this name.
I've rooted and unlocked my MoPho as of now.
I've attempted to flash joker and romracer's recovery.
However, when I go to check to see how CWM is doing, I only get 4 options:
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
Both of the videos I have watched show other options such as backup's and such. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, and any help would be appreciated!
Which clockwork are you using?
I have used this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216143
and the
AIO root
The standard cwm (The one from market) gives me all the options.
However, when I try to flash jokers or romracers cwm recovery I just get the 4 basic options again.
Fastboot erase recovery and then use fasboot to install the new, one romracers or jokers your choice. If flashing CM9 id use Jokers.
That is the method I attempted to flash both of them with.
I still get the triangle with the arrow and the android by it that I have to press both the up and down volume buttons to show the recovery screen.

Thats the stock recovery.. You ARE unlocked correct? and you flashed it by putting phone into fastboot and with CMD pushing the new recovery?
Yes, I do believe I am unlocked.
Root check shows that I am rooted
Upon boot the phone says, "unlocked"
Yes, I am using the CMD prompt to attempt to flash, following qbking's video instructions.
Edit: Also, the CMD prompt says it has completed the recovery flash.
So you did all this below?
"moto-fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img"
and it came back saying
"sending 'recovery' (4780 KB)... OKAY [ 0.490s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.544s]"
If so id to redownload the recovery.img and try again..
That worked, at first.
Upon first boot up I was greeted with the right recovery module.
When I went restarted to flash my ROM I was brought back to the original Android Recovery.
Edit: Should I flash on first boot up or should I wait until I can get the recovery to stick?
You have to go into the files and rename the stock recovery to ".bak" to make the new one stick. If I can find the link again, I will post it , or you can Google it? I think that's how I found it to begin with.
Thanks, that worked!
Hi, all.
I was messing around with Android Tweaker 2, zipaligning my apps, performing vague system tweaks and the like, when I rebooted my phone for the changes to take effect; however, the phone booted up, finished the booting animation, and where the home screen should be showing up only showed a black screen. From there I can only reboot again, reboot into STOCK recovery, or reboot into fastboot, which has limited function in an Asus device (inability to flash unsigned custom recovery images, inability to flash rom images, stock firmware images are unavailable ANYWHERE, etc.) My device WAS rooted, however, I did a factory reset from the stock recovery in hopes that the problem would be resolved, so I'm not sure if root access was retained. I've tried a lot of things, but what I need is access to adb to push some files, or just figure out what the hell happened to the device.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Details:
Asus Padfone X [4.4.2 stock rom]
WAS rooted
LOCKED bootloader
STOCK recovery
Fastboot is basically useless, given the "safeguards" Asus has implemented
Read the CM12.1 for instructions on unlocking bootloader , there are instructions on booting from custom recovery using fastboot from there you can adb push the files to your phone as posted in the Nandroid Stock backup thread and install using TWRP.

Thanks for the advice.
I have consulted the CM12.1 thread, and I see the instructions, the first step of which is to "boot into CWM, CMRecovery, or TWRP." However, I do not have any of these custom recoveries flashed on my Padfone X. Is there a way I can boot custom recovery off an external microsd or something?
Note: upon attempting the "fastboot flash recovery CMrecovery.img" command, the cmd window returns the following:
Code:
target reported max download size of 1879048192 bytes
sending 'recovery' <11220 KB>...
OKAY [ 0.438s ]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED <remote: can't flash unsigned image>
finished. total time: 0.444s
EDIT: Problem has been resolved, used
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
and restored stock.

Glad I was able to point you into the right direction.
Hi guys, my phone is Infocus M2 3G and I have rooted it earlier. Now I accidentally removed some services and now getting errors. I want to flash stock rom so it can be like previous one.
I installed ADB and fastboot in my system.
When I tried the command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
the following error came:
Code:
sending 'recovery' (10240 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.417s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote:
Security deny - Err:0x2017
)
finished. total time: 0.430s
I searched and I got to know that this may be because of bootloader lock.
So I tried the command
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
and
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
For oem unlock it showed unknown command and for flashing unlock it showed all options of fastboot.
I installed Rom Manager and select boot into recovery option, it took me to Android Recovery System 3e.
I have stock rom files downloaded and just want to put stock rom in my phone. Any Ideas that can help?

You can try putting the stock ROM zip file on the root of your sdcard (As in not located in any sub folders) and renaming the ROM file to update.zip then use the stock recovery to flash the ROM. Let me know if you still have questions!
hiya guys! So I just recently unlocked my d6503's bootloader after years of running it on stock. I wanted to access fastboot features for this device. My goal at the moment is edit to add just one line in build.prop to enable Multi-window. Right now my phone is on stock stock MM 23.5.A.1.291. I already tried flashing TWRP successfully to check if I can really edit the build.prop via fastboot commands (newbie here ) which I did. Right now my dillema is that either it's flashing the custom recovery, an unlocked bootloader, or simply editing the build.prop trips SafetyNet.
I am failing miserably to temporarily boot TWRP via fastboot. It gives me this feedback:
downloading 'boot.img'... OKAY. booting... FAILED (remote: dtb not found).
I did use the latest version of TWRP and even went ahead and used 2 of the previous versions via fastboot to no avail.
