[Q] Problem with google play - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have a problem with google play. When I download an app, it creates a file called downloadfile.apk inside the cache folder in the internal memory, but I do not understand why after you install the program this file is not automatically deleted.
Thanks in advance for the answers.

Well that's weird
Download any cache cleaner app and delete it

Since, it was a huge file almost 23 MB, so it is very difficult for me to re-download.

I know dear..but in this case it was not..thats why I am asking, where it is located...on my cell..
If you're asking about the file it's in data>app, if you're talking about launching it it should be in the app drawer of whatever launcher you are using. If it's not installed in data/app there should be a problem.
Edit: if you downloaded but it didn't auto-install, it would have been stored in Dalvik cache but by now it should have been cleared from your system... just download it again over a wifi network, best solution.

It's in data/dalvik-cache. If there's not enough space in there your download will not even start.

Apps store download location

Hi All,
Where in the phone are the downloaded files from apps store? Is it possible to transfer .apk to another location (dropbox) and install on another "machine"?
The apk's are in "/data/app".
However they might have some additional data in other folders (e.g. Polaris Office).

You can also find some in /system/app. Cheers.

They're in the cache folder but once you reboot they are gone

Package file is invalid & Insufficient storage available :(

Hi, I'm on Foxhound's Revolver Ocelot ROM and I keep getting these two messages whenever I try to download anything from the Play market;
Package file is invalid & Insufficient storage available
I cannot download a single app from the Play market.
Please someone help me to resolve this, preferably without a factory reset.

Update
I've wiped cache and dalvick in recovery, but still the issue remains.
I've also wiped cache and data in Google Play Market and Download Manager, but error is still there.
Help, someone.

Try to download apps using another network connection. Sometime it many be a temporary network issue. Also try these methods http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2011/12/fix-android-package-file-is-invalid.html
try what MyLifeRocks10 said: "go into either the /system/app/ or /data/app/ directory and delete the odex file that has the same name as the respective .apk"
I'm trying to download Sports Car Challenge and am getting the same problems.
First it was insufficient storage space, so I rebooted, same problem. Then I unmounted sdcard, app cannot be installed in default location, so I remounted sdcard now I get package file invalid.
AAARRGGHHHH !
I've tried clearing cache of google play store but no difference.
I am running standard XWLPG firmware with CF-root.
Solved. Sort of.
I've spent two days prowling the web searching for solutions for the "package file invalid" error. My problem was that maps would not restore from a backup or install from the market. I did one of everything in an attempt to solve it, I'm pretty sure. Since it looks like the cache is simply jammed up, preventing the install of large Google apps, I used a Titanium Backup filter to list all my apps that reside on the phone rather than on the SD card. I uninstalled a few of the bigger ones (actually just three of the biggest) and then went to the market to install maps. Came through without a problem. Strangely, using Titanium again I was able to restore all those apps I'd uninstalled to make room for maps. I have no idea why that worked – it seems spatially impossible – but for now, at least, problem solved. What a total hair-puller the invalid package error is.

+1 to this..

Unknown error code during application install: "-24"

I get this error when I try to download Pandora from the market. I searched how to fix it but nothing works for me. One of the solutions was to go to the root folder then data/data to delete the left over data from the phone But it's empty. Any help would be appreciated. I transferred a bunch of stuff over from my old phone so I think I brought over some data too.
Any update on this??
Delete the entire folder if you can that normally fixes it for me. Also try restarting the phone, that might work too.

Are you rooted? Does this error only happen for certain apps or all apps? If it's for certain apps you might want to find any files that are used by the app and delete them, on both internal and external storage.
I normally fixed this on my s3 by deleting the app folder in /data/data but I don't think you can do that without being rooted.
Yes im rooted I was using pandora I deleted but when trying to install the new version the error appear, and the phone is running on art..and yes I enter android/data but no folder associated with pandora.

Not android/data but /data/data from root. It's in there that you have to delete the folder associated with Pandora. You need some sort of file manager that can go into that area, I use ES file manager but you can use whatever app you want.
Thanks for your help, I use ES file but inthe data/ data there in no folder..I'm trying to upload a screenshot but I cant

[Trick][Lollipop]Stop Play Store Self-update

Hello guys
I'll explain here how to stop Google Play Store/Services from updating itself as the self update function draining the battery, using the data plan and reducing the free storage space.
There is a similar method but unfortunately that method doesn't work on android 5.1.1.
Instructions:
1. Uninstall all of the installed Google Play Store/Services updates through app info.
3. Install root file manager.
2. Navigate to /data/app.
3. Create 2 empty files.
4. Rename those files to "com.google.android.gms-1" and other one to "com.android.vending-1" (their permissions would be 0600)
That's it updates are gone
Hit thanks if I helped
Work on Android 7.1.1 ?
Hello, work this trick on Android Nougat ?
Thx
If you do that you can't sign in with Google so you need to sign in first but it works so far.

It's only a temporary fix as the Play Store automatically updated today and I had to uninstall the update.
