1 Stock ROM from ODIN: depends on in which ROM you are, you you are in any other tom than official than you need to wipe after flashing else you will be stuck in bootloop
2 Stock ROM from ODIN with PIT repartition: wipes everything because you are re-partitioning the internal memory.
3 Wipe Data/Cache: will wipe you data and cache both
4 Custom Recovery (CWM/TWRP?) if you mean flashing custom recovery than the answer is no, it won't wipe anything..
5 Custom Kernel: It too wont wipe anything..
I hope you have got all of your answers..

Depends if u are on stock or custom recovery. The stock recovery will delete everything. Custom recoveries will not delete ur music, dcim, pictures, download folders.

From stock sammy to cm and reverse

hello, i have a question
i had a galaxy S and i remember that to pass from cyanogen to stock sammy, was obligate to flash ( before) the stock rom and then restore backups
In the s3 is the same? or the passage is like other roms?
Any help guys?
Define backup. Nandroid? You should not have to but it cannot hurt.

Usualy if you want to go from stock to CM9 you place CM9 rom and gapps on the internal sd card. Wipe cache and dalcik cache, data/factory reset, format system and then flash both zip files straight in a row without rebooting.
Go from CM9 to stock, reset the flash counter with Triangle Away and wipe and format as above. Go in downloadmode and flash stock rom with Odin.
If this is what you mean.
If you restore a nandroid backup you are still rooted and not have clean stock.
but if i restore a nandroid over a cm10 ( obv after a full wipe), will it works? oe i always need to reflash a stock rom?
It will work mate. No worries

Hi! How do you wipe your phone completley? Not only factory reset, but wiping the phone totally clean.
Regards
Using this tool.flash from cwm.remember it will wipe your internal sd-card aswell,so u need an external sd-card to flash new rom or flash with odin.
Happy flashing

Yes ofcause
Just remember that it will wipe your system partition completely..so you will not have a rom to boot into..keep a ROM in hand to flash after you flash this zip..

[Q] How to format /system without Custom Recovery??

Hi there,
Now my device has the ELLA rom flashed (anyway, I'm thinking about flash the recent ELLC spanish rom)
I have rooted by CF-Root (not CF Auto root) so my counter is not zero , and the red mark is there.
I want to be "official" so my idea is not to flash a custom recovery.
I am going to use Triangle Away and to flash again the Rom with Odin.
Then I will root with CF-Autoroot.
Now, here is my problem: how to make the things that I made with a Custom Recovery, without a Custom Recovery.
- Flash .zip files -> I think I can use Mobile Odin
- Backup / restore -> Maybe Titanium Backup would help
- Wipe Data and wipe Cache -> Stock recovery is ok for this.
- Wipe Dalvik and format /system -> Any suggestions??
I am thinking about non-permanent custom recoveries, or even in a Custom Recovery that does not increase the counter...does it exist?
Many thanks for your help!!
Stock recovery can't replace a custom one.
You can't flash zips with Odin. AFAIK you can't wipe cache from stock recovery.
The only way to have the counter at zero is not to change anything

I thought that stock recovery allows to wipe data and wipe cache (cache , not dalvik)
Then .. Is there NO way to format /system without change stock recovery?
Thanks

Yeah, a data wipe is basically a system format.
Aside that, there is no such thing as a system wipe unless you want to delete your efs and all important files.

I think it is the best way to have a really clean Rom, without stuff from the oldest rom.
When I dont format /system sometimes I can find apps and stuff from the oldest rom, so I think that the new rom is not really fresh.
Thank you

Data wipe does not format /system
And formatting /system does not wipe Efs ...
You can't wipe system from stock recovery. Here's your answer
---------- Post added at 01:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:28 AM ----------
The solution would be to wipe /system from CWM, then flash flash a stock ROM with stock recovery

Yes, I am pretty sure. It is not possible from stock recovery.
But I was wondering if I can format /system with an alternative method like ADB, non permanent recovery, etc.
Thanks , and please excuse me if I am stubborn

[Q] How to make a clean install?

I wanted to flash a new ROM by wiping everything. But since I dont have an ext sd card I can't use the scripts provided here because it would end up deleting the other ROM I want to flash.

If I am not wrong, you can also use mega wipe (the script your mentioned I guess) with Odin and flash your ROM that way.
Simple Mounts and Storage.
Format cache system data sdcard preload = empty phone zero left .
Requires boot to download mode and flash rom.

Ahh but correct me if I'm wrong, wouldn't just flashing with Odin remove all the files and since the ROM I have downloaded i.e Omega Rom, would be in the .zip format right? But Odin only recoginses the .tar format. How do I go about it?

I typically delete cache, dalvik cache and format system, you can try to keep (user) data, but I experienced problem with once...
If you using custom roms with gapps, dont forget to flash again gapps after the rom...

I think better to use odin if you want to flash stock rom, oherwise is suggest using custom recovery and delete system / data cache what you actually need. then flash the new rom from zip.
For example: i using AOKP and always flashing from csutom recovery, but the baseband version stays the old that i used previously on stock samsung rom, even if i delete system and cache and datas...

I suggest to revert back to stock samsung from ODIN, then put a custom recovery via odin, and from your custom recovery: delete system, cache, dalvik cache, userdata. Then flash omega and gapps if you need from sdcard.. I think people mostly doing the same.
If you go back to stock samsung, all teh modem version will be stock.
sorry if I dont have right. I did never tried Omega, but with aokp the same was working good to me.

Sorry, its may bad, I jsut see now you cant use SD card. Dont worry: Once you have stock via Odin, nothing can make harm for the next Custom Rom (Omega)

Then follow my instructions and flash stock rom then root then custom rom .
OR do not format SDCARD and flash zip from sdcard BUT its not a 100% clean wipe .

Sorry I don't know about conversion between those two, but Im not sure if you really wipe "everything" you will have modem/radio drivers in omega. I think in aokp we don't have.. So I always have the last modem version that I used with stock samsung rom, no matters which another rom I using...
May I ask what kind of issues you have? Why do you want completely wipe your device?

Yes but to convert a custom zip to a flashable tar is not just convert .
Images need to be built boot.img cache.img hidden.img recovery .img system .img
100% the correct files otherwise 100% brick .

This is a flashable Stock 14.1.B.1.510 Taiwan rom. It is Deodexed and rooted. Install it in CWM. You can use this as a base for your rom. No need to ask. Share it and modify it and lets start some custom roms.

can i flash 475 HK ?
Will it wipe DATA and/or Internal Storage ?
I tried to flash, but the program said "waiting for device".
What does this mean, I don't have unlock bootloader? or I'm on 475?
