Hi
I have rooted my phone and installed CM11 Nightly + Kitkat on my Xperia P. I noticed all the times Screen consuming 50% of battery and due to this my battery is getting drained quickly and its not lasting for atleast a day.. Can someone help me to fix this issue and use my mobile normal?

Hey, did you remember to calibrate your battery after flashing the ROM?
Also it's pretty normal that the screen consumes a lot of battery. But if it isn't on for long periods of time and still drains there's something wrong.
You can check what is waking your device using this app
Another suggestion would be that don't use auto brightness, it drains the battery quite a bit.

Yes I did callibrate my battery but not sure whether i did correct. Can you let me know how to calibrate my battery?
Let me try with that wakelockdetector apps.. I didnt use the auto brightness... even i tried reducing the brightness to 0% but no luck....

Well you probably did it correctly, not that complicated. Use the calibration app
I got it from this XDA thread and it always seems to work for me.
Just make sure to charge to 100%, unplug the charger and then press calibrate.
Anyway leave the wakelockdetector running for a day or so and then see what is waking your device the most.
Also check what governors and io schedulers you are using. That can make quite a difference.

It's hard to say which is best. You'll have to test them to suit your own needs.
Try using hotplug or smartassV2. They have a nice balance between battery and performance.
Currently I'm using hotplug, I find it has better battery and the performance is sufficient.
If you want more info on governors look in this thread.

What brightness level do you use, and what is your screen on time?

Hello everyone,
From yesterday i started facing a strange issue due to which i am experiencing serious battery draining issues.
My battery started draining 1-2% every 5 min in idle mode after i played a game named crazy fist . next day i factory resetted my phone. In idle now it is not consuming any power but when i do some work on my phone , it consumes alot of battery and it.drins like 1% every 2-2.5 min.
Charging time is normal. But discharge is pretty fast.
So i checked thr battery usage inside settings.and noticed that my display is consuming about 41% of the battery and android os arnd 13%. I am not sure qbout os usage but thr diaplay is consuming too much power. I think initially it used to consume 13-20(max)%.
Or is the usage correct? I am using sgs2 stock midel and have no intentions to root it.
Kindly assist and reply asap. Thanks in.advance,
Siddhanth
the display on the galaxy s2 does drain alot of battery if your using it for quite a while..thats what they call screen on time..my battery was draining fast and i panicked... when you do use your phone how long do you use it? say do you use to browse like for a good hour non stop?
if you was rooted i could of gave you some options but here is a link to help you read and give you some tips on battery life...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234264
charge your phone fully and drain it without switching it off..charge it again without taking it off charger i say leave it for a good few hours...do the same thing for a few charging cycles and see what the battery like is after that..but check the link
But this strange thing happened to me aftrr 1month.
I wss never rooted.
I mean this is the first time my display is consuming 59-61% of the overall battery. is this normal and does it hsppen to u too?

i thought the same as you buddy. never realised it in the start when i had my s2 but then checking the battery usage and i panicked...its normal for the display to drain the battery alot..
change your brightness to auto and there is an option in settings and display where you can tick to have the display autoadjusted. thats for brightness..
or do what i do and have your brightness on the lowest settings and see how it goes from there...fully charge your battery let it say for 6 hours then let it drain till it dies down without any breaks and then charge it again to the max..do the same thing for a few times and check whats the battery after a few days...

when calibrated your phone you leave it on of course and charge it without any interuptions...when you let it drain with out any breaks like switching it on and off, once it dies down then plug to charge it.....it will charge and it will give you the battery icon...once its fully charged you can see by the battery when its fully green switch your phone and your good to go...

Hi I have really low battery life even I turn off everything. I play games alot but 4h is just not normal.
I really like to have more battery even if you think its enough because it cost me alot for charging and annoying.
thnxxx
I KNOW THERE A TONS OF SMILAIR QUESTIONS BUT I COULDNT FIND ONE SPECIFIC FOR MY PHONE
I had 4h of gameplay, finished 9MM, battery from 100% down to 10%, so as you can see, games are hard on battery, don't play games so much.
Buy an extra battery, you double your battery life for €8. I bought it here: http://www.e-giftshop.nl/a-25154890...j-accu-ba700-voor-de-sony-xperia-ray-1500-mah
Put screen birghtness as low as pleasant, use stock kernel, or stock based kernel.
And I agree with Madfysh ^

then I ahve to carry an extra battery everywhere I go...I thinkt hats not handy at all.
But arent there tweaks for optimizing the battery???

you cant boost battery life.
There is no app which can do that.
In my opinion even roms which claim to boost battery life are fake.
You can Root the delete all the pre-installed SE stuff.
Use V6 supercharger
Calibrate you battery (to prevent any bad values-calibration wont increase battery life but will make sure it is at its MAXIMUM_)
Now there are some kernels which use a technique in order to charge your battery even more
example: Your mobile allows the battery to be charged at 100% and then they discharge it to 90% after 10 min.
This kernel will not reduce battery from 100 to 90. What is more it will increase the maximum value from 100% to 110%.
BUT (YES THE HUGE BUT) it can destroy you battery (yes fire or blow up).
So i don't really recommend it.
I wont risk my life or my house either just for 20% more battery
OR EITHER INSTEAD OF DOING ALL THESE...
BUY A BATTERY FROM HERE
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=neo+v
to tell the truth i never bought a battery from there but i found posts which were saying they are good.
Unfortunately more life time means bigger battery which means for a 3100mAH( the standard battery of neo v is 1500 which means this one lasts x2.08 more time)
or a 3400mAH you will need bigger cover.
Or you can buy the 1700mAH which is not a huge boost(just 13% more) and stay with your current cover.
It is up to you to decide .

But about the supercharger, I read it is for smoother device, DOES IT ALSO OPTIMIZE BATTERY A LITTLE BIT??
And some people say stock kernel is better for battery, is that true? Currently im using riyal's ultima kernel.

Every time when you charge your battery to 100% battery stats got deleted/recreated. So any process of calibration is useless.

Your example only happens if you leave your phone on charger(for some time) after it's been filled to 100%, but even then Sony is pretty good in this point, some other manufactures are even worse. I think HTC Evo had biggest problem with that.
Do you understand what happens in that case, and that it's normal, or else you would have fried your battery keeping it on charger.
There is one great post in XDA, showing you how charging goes, try finding it, if I remember where it is, will post it.
Also, please tell me where is that kernel which will charge your batter to 110%, because it's simply a big BS, and a totally useless thing
And another thing, @OP: phone(even if it's smartphone) is not made for gameplay, HD or not HD, it literally kills battery so bear with it.
Only thing you can do is get another battery and risk your phone with some cheap batteries.
i cant find the post(it was on XDA) it was talking about different features of kernels and there was a kernel which was over charging your battery and wasnt reducing it to 90% too.
That way you had A good enough boost but YES a lot of users had problems because the batteries were "FRIED" i saw one which his phone was in smoke and burned at the back cover, someone's else battery died.
Hmm.. Just noticed when my phone says 100% charged its not! If I pull battery & reboot its 96%.. Is this a bug or what??
But does Supercharger REALLY help your battery [little bit]???
And could I destroy my battery if I always has to charge it?? [1x per day]
Im still gonna try calibrating battery but I also think it wont work.

rebooting eats up a LOT of battery power, so thats why it drops to %96 after booting.

Supercharger is not about battery
And no, you won't destroy your battery, indeed you will shorten her life, but hey, you are using smartphone, and it's making your life easier, if you will gonna spend time on thinking to much about battery, you're missing the point
X10 mini pro's battery charged aprox. 2X a day, is still live and kicking like first day
I would be more worried about playing games so much, which means, your CPU is high all the time.

Battery and battery percentage calculations are pretty abstract.. don't try to understand it, and don't bash your head so much about it. It's affected by many variables, and it's not 100% correct.
Sometimes shut down/turn on can take few % of your batter, sometimes it won't take a single %. Same as I have examples where my phone was on standby and in 7h didn't spend one single % of batter, while other day it spend 2,3%

and turn stamina mode on...
this all wud help a lot...
Try switching off Wifi over night setting in
Settings > Wi-Fi > [Options Button] > Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep
to "Only when plugged in"
Maybe change the governor. Experiment with the option "Set at boot" (i don't no why, but sometime it helps, even if it should not)
Try an automatic task killer (kill every hour or so), this doubles my "battery time"

I have been having the same issue, here is some stuff which you can try which solved the same problem for me:
* Recalibrate your battery by wiping battery stats
* Change governor and I/O Scheduler.
* Uninstall apps like Facebook, they tend to drain the battery.
* Wipe cache and dalvik.

Problem solved.Just fully charged my battery and it's ok now
You can even add some build.prop & init.d tweaks in your phone to improve battery backup as you are rooted. And you can also try any custom roms which have better ui & also better battery backup & even good performance compared to stock roms...
No matter how many forums and threads there is no solution to be found for this massive battery drainage. stock rom vs poison with greenify, underclock, tweaks, lower brightness, other mods, and the battery is exactly THE SAME in both. Draining massivly. I have 60% now, 2 minutes ago when I was browsing in mozzila I had 66%. Also draining when screen off. I kept using the battery with same patterns for a lot of days, adaptive charging doesn't seem to help.. Any solution??
Go back to stock with fastboot and see how it goes.
There's probably a much more convoluted solution out there but it would probably be too much hassle.

Hi guys. Sorry for slow reply. I have tried going back to stock rom and other different roms. No difference. You see the weird part is that the battery lasts the same no matter what you do, stamina mode? same. Nothing running on background ? same. New thing happened: After the poison 7 rom in battery settings ann option "battery care" appeared. I turned it on to see what it does. Only after some weeks it decided to pop up when I plugged my phone to charge. It said something like "Battery Care active. Your phone will be fully charged in 5 p.m Tuesday (example) while it is still Monday 3 p.m. Should I listen to battery care and leave the phone plugged in for 1 day or not? (no matter if it reaches 100%).
This is a bit irrelevant but I am asking just in case: Is your phone too charging very fast ? I have the basic charger (not the fast charge) and I believe my phone is being charged a bit too fast

Me too i have the normal charger included in the box and it takes about 2 hours from 20ish to 90ish % if i plug it to a usb 3.0 port it takes about 1:30hr to charge from about the same
Battery Care is a nice app if you charge your phone overnight. It limits the duration of your battery charged to 100% by charging rapidly to 90% until a half hour or so before you wake up. To do so it needs to learn your charging habits first. Supposedly this prolongs your battery life. Attached an example. You can see it charges rapidly as well.

I agree it is unrelated. Since your battery problem seems independent on the rom, a few options are left: a rogue app that you always install, something related to your Google account, or a hardware problem.

Go back to stock with fastboot and see how it goes.
There's probably a much more convoluted solution out there but it would probably be too much hassle.

Is it worth it to try going back to stock again and also unrooting? Or relocking the bootloader? I thought of an app but the only thing that it could really be are the google services , the play store. Messenger doesnt seem to drain much and makes a minimal difference, and with the app we mentioned above I didn't find absolutely anything draining the battery apart from screen and OS (it could also be more than normal)
I did all the trip concept-stock-concept and it seems it is an app right now I'm getting almost the day through and have 20ish of battery, it was easier in my case because I didn't unlocked bootloader or rooted, so might try a full clean reinstall to your phone

I'm currently also having massive battery drain(6% an hour) I tried stock rom, Posion rom and concept rom, sadly all with the same result. I use grenify & fordoze but somehow my phone wont 'doze'/go into deep sleep. I installed better battery stats to check out the problem. On a normal day(one charge) the sumery of better batter stats look like this:
deep sleep 7 hours / awake(screen off) 5.5 hours / screen on 1.5 hours
when i look to kernel wakelocks there is one that is always on top of the list:
bluesleep 5.2 hours 243 wakelocks
Also under alarms there is a suspect:
com.google.android.gms: 864 alarms 1/min
So there are some strange things happening on my phone... really wondering if you got the same wakelocks/alarms as I do
I use greenify and HEBF. Same story here, it seems like nothing changes with battery life. Crazy, only 1,5 hours? My average now is 3. I haven't checked the drainage when screen is off but I did notice similar drains to yours. I think we're in the same boat. I will tell you about the wakelocks, haven't looked into that yet

I've just received my phone for just one day. Backup my TA partition, unlock bootloader and use rootkernel tool to root my devices. I'm using the .331 version stock ROM. Just then I installed the ElementalX app on play store, and surprisingly found that the cpu frequency statistics show that the phone is always on the max freq. So I changed the cpu governor to interactive governor. Haven't test battery time yet. Hope you know this issue, if you have the same problem.

I'm wondering if you've check the cpu freq statistics. See my post above. If that's the common issue, than the stock rom maybe has trouble dealing with the cpu governor problem.

Actually I'm not lowering frequencies, I use EX Kernel Manager to tune the interactive governor according to this post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557
After tuning the governor, it's about 4 hours SOT. Still not good compare to my Xperia Z3, but much better than before(about 2hr SOT)

Well it's not perfect yet but switching off scanning for bluetooth and wifi helped me a lot(under location settings) Also L Speed & Greenify are helping.
Still looking for a way to turn off fast dormancy.
