Hi,
I'm a new member here.
8 months ago, I purchased two "Samkimoke T710 LA-I" Android phones. It has Spreadtrum SC6820, Mail 300 GPU, 256 MB RAM, MTK6517, Camera (idk spec needed for driver? I guess).
(I know the above from an App I installed in another T710 mobile.)
The OS was said to be "4.0.2" in 'About Device', i personally think it's Android GingerBread though.
Today, I got a miss call, and after that I just pushed the Power button (to turn the display off), it did so. Now the thing does NOT start, no display while charging.
I've googled a LOT, I tried other batteries, connected mobile to USB and then inserted battery, as was said online, nothing came, I also tried Volume buttons + Power button, and also charge to Power Outlet trick. Nothing worked.
After that I went to a local repair shop, after checking it he said the phone does boot, but is not starting (i think he was referring to it's ROM), he said "he would try to re-install a software", from what I understood, he wanted to flash it or something.
So the questions are:
1. Was my phone "dead" or "hard brick" with OUT any problem/s (just out of nowhere) ?
2. Can i flash it (or even any "hard brick" Android device) myself, and expect it to work? If yes, how?
3. Where can i find a custom ROM this manufacturer used (or it's alternative)? What tool should i use to Flash?
(i guess, personally, driver issue will arise in these cases) I checked the Samkimoke DOT com website, their service is available in China only, and NO Email given for me to ask question about their custom ROM)
Thank you ...
(You can say I'm too greedy to forget that .. i can't throw a device that was working in the morning, and that's just 8 months old )
What's happening here?
I left it for the shop to flash (I've never flashed an Android before), and also since it's Chinese Android - I was unsure of the ROM. So he said he tried to flash it (or flashed it) but it still isn't booting!
Back home, I pressed the Power Button, and I noticed this.
http:\\i.share.pho.to/e7653bef_o.png
1. Before Pressing Power Button
2. After Pressing Power Button (the display starts, as if trying to display something)
3. The display fading away (back to off state -- state 1)
4. Back to State 1
All this happens within a second. Is the phone trying to launch the ROM and not finding it or something? Does the above mean it's not the Hardware issue?
I downloaded the MTK Droid Tool and it does NOT show any info, it doesn't detect it at all.
What should I do in such cases?
Thanks ....
Umm.. Am I posting this in the wrong forum section or something?

i don't think this is your fault, its just the faulty Chinese firmware is terribly developed and half of the time this happens to all Chinese phones. they decide not to work anymore or the usb drivers decide to not like your computer anymore. if there is not life from the device (no boot, no recovery) then its hard bricked. the only why you could fix it is using a jtag and finding the firmware online for your specific device and using that to write the Firmware back onto your device. but that can cost lots of moola $.

Sounds like a hard brick to me, too. Since you didn't "tweak" the phone in any way, it's not your fault. You can do only 2 things: either go to another service shop and ask for repair, or find a toolkit and the necessary firmware files to flash it on your own. From what you're describing, it seems like the firmware is all messed up.
Okay, thank you .. and I didn't tweak it, it just simply stopped working.

Where can I find/buy this thing called jtag? Or is it simply the same thing as "jig"? If not, How much would it cost?
Since I bought two of them, I have another T710 mobile (same manufacturer) working with me. I'm kinda scared for it too, should I use CWM or something and back it up right now?
Back to the topic, the working mobile has MTK6515 (as opposed to MTK6517 that the damaged one has), can I still backup/extract the image of one to use in the damaged Android phone?
Thank you ...
So, i was inserting and ejecting this device back and forth, and this time, the device decided to show up in the Device Manager, At 1st, it showed up in the Other Devices, then under the "USB Controllers" as "Unknown Device":
http:\\i.share.pho.to/80f316eb_o.png
It was still not showing up in the MTK Droid Tools, although i had installed already MTK65xx drivers. Then i installed the SpreadTrum Phone Driver, and after connecting the device, i pressed Power + Volume [+] button, and it showed up under USB Controllers as "SPRD COM Enumerator".
http:\\i.share.pho.to/3001fb77_o.png
At first, it said "The device is working properly":
http:\\i.share.pho.to/1ad975d3_o.png
And then it refreshed again and said "The device cannot start":
http:\\i.share.pho.to/dd9ee409_o.png
So this means my phone is SpreadTrum phone so maybe that's why it did not show up in MTK Droid Tools?
Which Programs are available to backup and flash Spreadtrum phones?
Thank you. .....
EDIT: I pressed the Power button in my other t710 phone, and it also does the same blinking as the damaged one does. So that means the phone was, i guess, testing if it's "on" and should display or something, and since it has no contents or has, as a member pointed out, a damaged firmware, it's not working properly..

a Usb jig and a JTag/Riff box are a little different. usb jigs are used for only samsung to force the device into download mode, otherwise known as a easy way to get into download mode. the Jtag and riff box's attach pins to Certain parts of a phone or another device and it Write firmware onto that device since its corrupt or does not want to turn on. these can cost up from $100-200, i would just get another phone my friend .
So, although it shows under Device Manager, I'm already screwed with this device? Can I not flash it by using a Computer?
Thank you ..

Nope, from what i understand when a device is hard bricked or you have nothing showing, the OS is corrupt and that means the USB drivers are Screwed up so it wont recognize your device.
Hmm ... I have flashed it a couple of times, and it's not starting because I don't have the right ROM It gives the usual short vibration when I press power button to start it. The screen is not displaying anything, as expected. and there is no light.
The device is SpreadTrum and the screen size is 4.3 inch, the roms I downloaded either seem to be that for 3.5 inch or 5 inch
1. Is there something like Custom Barebone ROM which will "work on any device"? OR at least compatible ROM?
[ I purchased the phone for 5860, "repairing" it will cost me 1500 So I'm trying to not go to the repair shop. ]
--------------------------------------------
2. I rooted my working phone with vroot, and used adb to backup the images, the total size is 309 MB, trying to flash it in my device, it's giving me "Failed: Download size is over it's partition" error or "Failed: Operation Failed" error.
Regardless of which FDL.bin file I use, my PAC always gives errors. And those that I download from the web flash fine.
(I'm using ResearchDownload -> Packet option, it makes the PAC file, but the flashing process always results in errors.)
Is there some proper Guide to make the PAC file?
Thanks ...

Well, I have a d2pad SN 201301 on the back so its somewhat new
It uses rk2829 rockchip.
Anyways Ive been trying to get recovery on it for the past couple hours to use a new rom, finally got recovery working, did everything installed my rom, and let it restart.
Well, The rom isnt compatible, there was a later version a few pages into the thread that might have been, but the one I got wasnt.
So now I'm stuck, at the intro d2 logo
I only have 1 button and it is power.
Ive tried to get adb working, because it at least says its connected, but with no success anyone have any ideas?

Hey, I realize that it's been a couple years since you posted this question. I never saw any responses. So how did it all end?
Also, there was one critical piece of information you failed to share with the XDA community...you said you worked on getting into recovery with a device that only had a power button and no volume buttons. May I ask how on earth you managed to get into recovery using only a power button? Reason I ask is that I am now facing this situation. NTech Alexis RX3HD8 tablet, rockchip RK2928 processor, power button and no volume buttons! I need to get into recovery but I cannot turn on USB debugging (and the tablet is pattern locked but the pattern was entered too many times....so I am locked out).
At this point, if I cannot enter recovery mode, the tablet is a permanently soft-bricked which is, for all intents and purposes, the same as a hard-brick.
I think what happened for me was, wanted to install new rom, got into recovery to install it, then it bricked my tab, after that I was at the logo
in my case i fixed everything by getting a rkflasher, to reinstall it, and contacting support for the factory image, which is lucky they new something about it, some companies abandon support, or dont know enoguh about what they sell, lol
as for your situation
these are the things i'd try
1. If it has google play, and is connected wifi even if its locked you can try this page
https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
and then pick ur device and factory reset it is an option (although ive never tried it)
2. search around on the internet for 1 button recovery methods, I've seen quite a few weird tablets, and some I can think of with 1 button recovery
A. a pin hole thats not the reset button or the mic, was an actual button, and that was used to get into recovery with a safety pin, and doing the normal holding it while powering on method
B.. holding the power button, and instead of letting go when u see a logo, keep holding it, till it shuts off again, then power it on
C. plug it in to pc via usb, and turn it on, while its booting, see if ur pc recognizes it at any point during the startup and try to run some commands, ive had a brand of tabs, that give u adb access during boot, but then remove it after finished booting
4. their website is in spanish, and they dont have firmware/manual links available for your tablet
You could contact support for recovery instructions or reflash instructions,, and hope they speak english or you speak Spanish
Most of the time with 1 button tablets, if theirs no info of similar ones online, unless you can contact support, you might be out of luck
PS, my edit:
also, I saw ur post on the youtube video while looking up stuff about this tablet, if that guy can get you a firmware, you have another option of trying to get to download mode too
my tablet, with rk2928 uses these instructions to get it to show up in the RKBatchTool.
https://www.d2pad.info/docs/OSFirmwareInstallInstruction_D2-721.pdf
maybe they can help you get into download mode on urs
all of this being said, I hope my first suggestion will work, IDK if wifi is disabled during pattern lock, or if u can factory reset any tablet, I just know I always see that option when I'm using it to find my devices ect.

Without ADB a soft-brick can become permanent state!

Hey thanks for getting back to me. You've been extremely helpful and your response may hopefully be found in future by others who have the same problem.
Here's how it's working out for me with this device:
1. It has Google Play but unfortunately the wifi is turned off and there's no way to connect. But in any event, the little kid whose tablet it is (I'm working on the tablet at the request of her father who is my friend), she doesn't remember the Gmail account name or password.
2. I've searched the entire Internet (LOL) including Spanish and Chinese websites/videos but no luck. I can't find anything about putting this badboy into recovery. The reset button is just for show...it only turns the tablet off in case the power button is unresponsive.
3. I've been to the website of "manufacturer". It's a Portuguese company (I speak the language) but they haven't responded to any contact requests. And they appear to offer the firmware for the devices but download link is dead. So I cannot even get the firmware to flash it. The dude on YouTube has not sent me any link to firmware.
But the bigger problem and the key to the issue is that I cannot get the tablet to be recognized by the computer no matter what I've tried. I've tried all kinds of combinations of power button play but I never get that satisfying BEEP that indicates that there is a connection open. You see, I have the drivers for the tablet but there is no way to install them without the tablet giving the opening (even if it would come back as Unknown Device). So, I'm crap out of luck with this soft-brick.
Again, thanks for your help. After 3 days and probably 15 hours spent trying to reset this thing, I'm going to have to throw in the towel. Important lessons learned:
#1. NEVER PURCHASE AN ANDROID DEVICE THAT HAS NO VOLUME KEYS (or without knowing how to get into recovery). You're only asking for trouble if anything should go wrong. And believe me, this is the THIRD TIME I've seen a device that cannot go into recovery. In one case, I was able to flash new firmware directly on bootup off the external SD card (it was an Android laptop with WM8505 chip). I guess one out of three ain't bad odds...but they are not the kind of odds you want with expensive devices.
#2. ALWAYS TURN ON USB DEBUGGING WITH ANY ANDROID DEVICE YOU OWN AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME. One day, it may end up being the savior of the life of that device because it usually means you can access the device via ADB in case of a soft-brick. LOL.

At last, did we find at last how to enter in recovery mode if there is only one button (power). I am in the same situation with @CVAngelo .Is it possible not to exist recovery mode at all? My tablet is BENEVE R708G with Rockchip RK2928. I tried every combination with power button and reset button but no luck at all.I have boot loop after trying to change the bootanimation. The weird thing is that the new boot animation ''works'' but after that it goes on boot loop forever.
Hey, so I was trying to flash my friend's s3, and apparently, I did something wrong which got me stuck up at odin mode.
Initially, I could hold the vol up + home + power button to go to recovery, but now, even that won't work as it would just show me
Samsung's logo and a red exclamation mark on top left corner.
I've downloaded the firmware stock and tried to flash it using odin however it just won't work.
It says "NAND Write Start!!!" and it just stops there (stuck forever). It should (as I know it) show a progress bar on my android and
on it's interface to tell how much it has been done, but as soon as I start, the progress bar instantly fills up (on my android, the blue line)
and its just stuck there.
I've tried to take out the battery, clear cache/reset factory, take out sd and sim. But it simply won't work.
It's just stuck on "Downloading....do not turn of target!!!"
I cannot even get the flash counter to reset (I don't know how, since I can only open up odin mode)
counter: 4
binary: yes
Currently, I don't even know if it's suppose to be charging or the battery is just draining out.
Region for this phone is Turkey.
Yes I've also unrooted the phone using KingoRoot (previously, when it could go into recovery) but no luck.
Note: I have searched other threads on this forum but I cannot get anywhere around even close to fix my device.
It's soft-bricked (I assume, of course it is).
Any idea how to fix this?
Odin Screenshot (since it's my first post, it won't allow me to post outside links, sigh,):
http: // i.imgur .com/eBVZ3NN . png
^^ Just been stuck there....
Meanwhile on my android, it just shows a full-blue progress bar. And that downloading do not turn of target.
UPDATE:
THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED. I DOWNLOADED A CUSTOM FIRMWARE, (LUCKILY, CLOCKWORK MOD WORKED, JUST HAD TO WAIT AFTER GOING TO RECOVER)
FLASHED IT THROUGH THERE, WAITED FOR IT TO INSTALL, RESTART. BAM.
Did the 'something wrong' include flashing a firmware for another model?
What does the model number in download mode read?
You can try the rescue firmware, search general forum,.
Yeah, wrong firmware I suppose

In other words, yes, flashing a firmware for another model.

No I don't lol. The problem has been solved anyway.
Im' glad to see you didn't give up on this, and came back to let us know what was wrong
I know this could be seen as off-topic, but the reality of devices becoming bricked isn't really possible luckily, it just takes longer to get around sometimes. If the item is worth fixing, then I always say keep at it, because I've never had an android device stay stuck so far. The only thing that really went nuts and refused to work, were 2 of the Iconia A500 tablets that lost access to their memory - but this is a common hardware fault as the RAM chips break away and need reflowing before you can even format the internal memory (it cant even see the SD cards either because the RAM comes and goes - same idea as plugging/unplugging a USB drive in Windows/Linux - it just doesn't know what to believe lol).
Great forum by the way, there's so much great information on here I get lost reading
Is my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Bricked ?
I got the phone from Ebay on July 6,2015 everything was great
But on the morning of Sep 21st looking at my gallery pictures, I found they deleted themselves?
not knowing what that meant I went looking for recovery software "Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android"
it was not working so I had to root(?) my phone, so I went to the google play store and found a root app that seem
to have high reviews, tried it and did not work out right the phone restated saying "Samsung's firmware upgrade encountered an issue" so the next day did some research first before trying anything. I downloaded Odin3 and entered download mode & flashed the Samsung it restarted had it on for 3-4 hours
then turned it off & turned it on later to find it would not go pass the Samsung logo so I went to hold the off button shutting the phone off that happen 2 times and on the 3rd try turning it on It did not come on at all. Went to see if google had anything on this some say it is bricked and need to use a jig so I got one from a USA seller on ebay and returned it because it did not work at all. Not the phone still won't come on & I can't enter download mode, how do I fix this, is it a boot loader problem? is it hard bricked? do I need to take it to someone if so who & how much would that cost? you think.
Other Info of the phone
70% of battery is on the phone
It's factory Unlocked
Root Software I tried to use was (Kingo SuperUser)[Root]
I found they deleted themselves?

it was not working so I had to root(?) my phone, so I went to the google play store and found a root app that seem

to have high reviews, tried it and did not work out right "UNQUOTE"...........What was the reasoning behind the rooting your phone for lost pictures??? if had wanted to get into the stock 3E recovery of your phone, all you had to do was, rocker up on Volume, pwr on, and menu key......dr phone may have flashed the wrong Bootloader, which makes you extremely lucky it even turned on to Odin it.....the problem your facing with it not turning on at all could be either [1] you have the wrong primary boot loader on it, which means its hard bricked, but im thinking you have a bad battery, because you were able to restart it after you flashed what exactly with Odin??......what did you flash with Odin??...an entire ROM, a bootloader file, or a kernel file by wrong chance, whatever it was we need to know... your not giving out enough info here, to determine if it was the correct SW for the phone you have, also what did you tick or not tick with Odin??.... extremely weak or going bad battery's cause abnormal voltages and abnormal symptoms as well...you might have a battery that finally went completely bad!!....there's usually only 3 things that cause a phone to not power on!...1] flashing wrong firmware, corrupting the primary bootloader...2]bad internal/failed hardware...3] a bad battery either its causing abnormal voltages or producing nothing from being totally dead!!...you state you cant power on anything, nothing visually illuminates, plus your saying it wont go into DL mode....volume rocker down, menu button and the pwr button all together will get you into DL mode, if you can power on a DL mode to the phone it is NOT HARDBRICKED!!...that means a softbrick situation= SW corruption....we need further more detailed info here!!...BTW YOU POSTED THIS QUESTION IN THE WRONG FORUM, THIS IS DISCUSSION FORUM , OTHER FORUM IS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING, WHICH IS WHAT YOUR TRYING TO DO HERE!!!

The pictures I took on the phone disappeared all 300+ pictures disappeared .I am the only one using the Samsung
and it was on my table all that day. So I went to google to find a photo recovery software & found a software called
Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android (you can find videos on youtube) & using the software it can do 2 things, auto root the phone to find the photos and bring it back to normal or you Have to have your phone rooted. The auto root setting was not working on the Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android software so I went to the google play store on my Samsung and found a root app that a lot seem to like as it was 4.4 stars, went to install that the app stated I should have "Kingo SuperUser" on my computer so had that put on the went to root the phone & it did not work.
I got a screen on the Samsung saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Youtube had a video on this same problem so I went to Sammobile's site and download the firmware what was
"2014-06-11 USA(Verizon) Version 4.4.2 PDA (I605VRUFND7) Kies. After I downloaded that I downloaded Odin3_v3.10.6 opened it had auto "Reboot & F.Reset Time" selected and added the firmware MD5 file add in the "AP" secion then Entered Download mode on the Samsung & hooked it up to my computer
then I hit start about 30min later it Passed with a green light and everything seem back to normal 3 hours later I went to turn the Samsung off and latter that night when I went to turn it on it got stuck at the Samsung logo that happen 2 times and on the third time it did not come on & so can't "enter download mode" and the "usb Jig" did not
work. What happen & what do I need to next. Do I take the phone to someone to fix this.
Short version of the story
.Pictures I took 300+ disappeared so when looking for recovery software
.Found a software called "Wondershare Dr.Fone for Android" (the software had "2" Options for recovering. 1 the software would
Auto Root and bring the Samsung back to normal after recovering the pictures or I would have to had the phone already rooted.
. When to the google play store with the Samsung, found a root app download that & "It stated I should download "Kingo SuperUser" to my computer so I did that.
.It failed & got a screen on the Samsung Saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again".
.Went to Sammobile's site and download Firmware 2014-06-11 USA(Verizon) Version 4.4.2 PDA (I605VRUFND7) Kies
.Download Odin3_v3.10.6 had auto "Reboot & F.Reset Time" selected and added the firmware MD5 file add in the "AP" secion
Entered download mode & the Samsung passed
.Everything was back I had it on for 3-4 hours then shutdown the phone later that night went to turn on and it got stuck
at the Samsung logo 2 times and on the 3rd time it would not turn on nor enter "Download Mode"
.Got a "usb Jig" & that did not work and now I am here wondering what do next & what happen to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 do I need to take to someone to fix it ?

You may have a possible hardware problem then= a bad motherboard and possible replacement!!!....Can you power it on in anyway shape or form??...meaning can you toggle it into recovery??...can you toggle it into DL mode??....does it pwr on to the bootloader screen and continuously loop???.....if you can do any of those things then its not hardbricked, which means you need to reconstuct the SW and then see if the Hardware holds stable....If it doesn't....then it could be a severe HW problem!!!....For the future be advised that, you completely took the wrong road to achieving blindly what you intended to do!!...meaning ....you should've completely took control of the situation and been totally proactive in your rooting and unlocking the bootloader...you wrongly turned to 3rd party APP's when you should've read first...educated yourself completely on what you were to embark on, and then set everything up with 3 different choices of rooting/unlocking..again depending on what ROM version your operating on, before engaging!!.....NEVER TRUST 3rd party APP's to do something only you should have step by step control of = lazy!!!.....I personally wouldve 1st tried to get to the stock 3e recovery, and attempt a nandroid backup of the phone as it was...then afterwards try to get the phone detected on my computer, so as to access the file containing the photos, transferred them to the computer safely... then flash the phone to a stock ROM with root already baked in or not = equals totaly factory stock.. doesnt really matter!!!.... and then set up the phone again, and see what it WILL!!! or WONT!!! do!!...point is, easter-egging a problem carelessly, will cause you to either install the wrong stuff or go completely outta proper sequence and either hose the SW, or worst case scenario....corrupt the primary Bootloader and hardbrick it!!....if you can power it into DL mode!!!.... Then, 1st BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!.... go get Odin 3.07....then get the Samsung drivers for your computer to detect the phone...then DL the Pit file "sch-1605-16gb.pit"....then the proper stock ROM..4.1.1...4.1.2 in .TAR files only, BTW there is a stock 4.1.2 with rooted already in it!!....and then flash your phone using Odin with the pit file and then tick the PDA .tar file of whatever ROM. you choose.....I suggest 4.1.2 as a base to start with and reconstruct it, re-root it if necessary, that's if you choose the one W/O rooted baked into the ROM and unlock it with advice above using ghetto root, do not use adams outlers unlocker, there seems to be problems with it, triggering KNOX, and YOU DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!!....relying on 3rd party app's will FK you up....use your head...not your heart!!...and yes you really should post NEXT time in the trouble-shooting forum, but for now leave it here!!...for your benefit!!

Welp,
I've gone & done it again. My 2nd z3v came from Amazon a few days ago, refurbished, like new. Got the 200GB card for it, went to Verizon & got the SIM, swapped it with my work phone (iPhone 4s) line.
(Now I have 2. But the 1st one was replaced for being in this same situation.)
Got home, swapped the phones back cause I really still wasn't sure I wanted to mess up this z3v with my job (landscaping = lots of dirt).
It had 4.4.4, and I let it update to the latest two part Lollipop to see what the hubbub was about (nothing).
Decided I wanted to make it basically a clone of my primary z3v, so I rooted from the update directly using GigaSPXs guide.
Successful rooted 509 achieved, but with one problem; it kept telling me I had no space left, even though the internal SD had 21 GB left. Peculiar.
Made a recovery file on my #1 z3v's SD. Copied everything from #1 SD to #2 SD, and attempted to "clone" #2 z3v by installing that latest zip copied from z3v #1, but Recovery kept saying "No File Found".
Checked all 5 recovery points I had on there, and each said the same thing. Checked other things on the SD card, and it showed them, but when I tried to open them, it said "No File Found".
Mounting problem? Made sure everything was mounted, etc. Still, same problem.
Tried wiping Dalvik 3 times, but also accidentally wiped System Cache.
Now it sticks at the SONY Xperia logo. I can get to the Sony Recovery options, but Factory Reset doesn't do anything.
Was it System Cache wipe that killed it, and can anything be done?
This time, I took some notes as I went. I was confident, but I've done this before (bricked), so I decided to list what I did as I went along. I highly recommend everyone take notes for when they screw up. LOL!

Use Flashtool to flash it back to 4.4.4. After that, don't try to do your attempt again. They're two separate devices and they are both uniquely different internally.
OK, how do I use flashtool? The PC doesn't recognize the phone as anything hooked up to it. Flashtool doesn't recognize it's there.

IIRC, hold down the down (or up) button and hook the phone to the computer. I think it should trigger recognition from there.

If that doesn't work and you have connected your phone to your computer before try removing all related Sony drivers from the computer. If you are OK with registry edits you could look for any instances of your phone there too.

Don't I need the drivers installed?
Yes,, reinstall them preferably from outside your computer. You are wanting the drivers on your computer to be overwritten by fresh drivers, even if they have the same version numbers. You want the computer to "think" this is the first time the phone has ever been connected to it.
Where do I get th drivers for re-installation?

Try this. If you do take this route don't be discouraged if it doesn't work the first time. I have had something similar happen and on occasion it has taken a few tries. Windows doesn't like to let go of drivers that are already installed.
Xperia Z3 drivers
"Phone driver for Xperia Z3 (D6603, D6616, D6653, D6643, SOL26, D6708, SO-01G, and 401SO) (Microsoft Windows™ XP 32bit/64bit and later). Use drivers for debugging, or when erased from phone."
DLed the replacement drivers, but Flashtool isn't recognizing the z3v. I know I'm doing something wrong because it isn't recognizing my other (functioning) z3v, either.
So I Googled driver installation on Windows 8.1 because I remembered that it won't allow unsigned drivers without manual installation, and I needed a refresher course for all the steps. I am uncertain I successfully removed all of the previous ones, though. What I did find out, but did not know, was that putting 8.1 into that mode (where it'll install unsigned drivers) is a temporary situation. According to a poster on a blog (for whatever that's worth...), once the PC is restarted, it comes out of that "test mode", and unsigned drivers no longer work again. I usually keep the PC on, but it has restarted since I last messed with Flashtool.
Obviously I need to figure out where I'm going wrong on this to even begin work on the phone. (I miss XP.)
Details about the z3v behavior:
The screen is stuck on the SONY XPERIA logo.
Pressing the power button by itself has no effect, no matter how long I hold it.
Pressing the power button with the volume down will power it off, but it just powers back on by itself.
Pressing the power button and holding both the power button and the volume down while it cycles back on gets me into the Android Recovery menu.
From Recovery;
Selecting "Power Down" USUALLY powers it down, but sometimes it immediately restarts.
Selecting "Factory Reset" cycles it through the logo and into an attempt (Droid animation with blue bar rolling) for about 5-6 seconds, and then it restarts into the SONY XPERIA logo again.
Selecting "Safe Mode" simply restarts it the same way.
Selecting "Continue Power Up" obviously does the same.
All that is while not tethered to the PC. NO color LED comes on, except for an occasional orange while it's hooked to the PC.
Got a couple of suggestions about the PC connection:
Try a different USB cable.
Have you looked in Device Manager and removed any reference to the Sony there as well?
Here is a blog post about an Xperia S that wouldn't connect, the steps should be the same:
Connect the phone via USB and go to the Device manager on the computer. Check if you can locate the phone or any Unknown/New device that could be the phone or if you perhaps see the phone as a device. Right click it and select to uninstall.
Still in Device manager open the list for USB controllers (Universal Serial Bus Controllers) and right click each one of these controllers and select to uninstall.
When all of this is done reboot your computer and before connecting your phone again repeat step 2.
You should of course not have to do this every time you connect your phone to your computer but hopefully this could remove any error causing your phone not to connect properly.
I'M BACK!!!
And here's a lesson from one noob to all others; Never overlook the simplest things.
Komet1, your suggestion of trying a different cable struck me as desperate, but when I looked at what I had been using, I realized it was the cheap cable Amazon sent with the phone (It didn't come with a Sony charger and cable, just a crappy generic set).
I swapped cables and viola!, I now have 4.4.4 back.
I'll not be making the stupid mistake of swapping restores from one phone to another again.
Thanks all!
Important lessons for beginners...
Take notes. I'm glad I did this time because last time I bricked I couldn't remember what I had done to brick it, or what I had tried to unbrick it. It helps when you can provide detailed info, otherwise it becomes too frustrating for those who can help. It can also help keep you from panicking and going in circles.

[SORRY FOR TITLE BUT IT DIDNT WORK FOR ME LIKE 10 TIMES]
Hi guys, quick information:
Yesterday tried to autoroot my s7 edge with chain fires autoroot. Unfortunately I heard that it wont work on latest firmware after I tried to root it.
So I just wanted to reset my whole Phone. (Accidently) Downloaded wrong Firmware, tried to install it with odin. didnt work. writing failure. Boot loop.
Left it over night (kept it loading over night). Woke up. Phone is VERY hot. Couldnt touch it. ok. removed cable. cool down.
Ok. Noticed I picked wrong one. Downloaded correct one tried again. Didn't work.
Phone wont let me hard reset (wipe cache/ Home Button + Volume Up + Power Button doesnt work)-
Can't even get to Boot Logo-
Can only get into download mode but screen goes black after a while.
Everytime I try to install the stock firmware , progress bars in odin and on phone goes to a third and then phone screen goes black and the bar doesnt move at all. if i normally try to boot it this text shows up: an error has occurred while updating the device software. use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software. Cant use it because it want me to use a serial number i dont have / people on internet said its iemi number but it wont work. on videos on yt i saw people with iemi number AND serial number. in my buying papers no information about this serial number. not on my backcover of my phone.
Don't know what to do.. please anyone help

First remove your imei. Never post that openly on a forum or you could end up getting your device cloned.
The serial number is on the box.
You might have very well full bricked your device. Flashing the wrong firmware is a short road to a brick.
The buttons won't work due to partially written software. The wrong software at that.
Your only hope is finding the box and flashing the right software or you will have to send it in for repairs which might cost you a bit.

Okay Guys, small update: Just Made my phone work again.
Had no opportunity to install stock firmware somehow for a long time- Tried to install TWRP multiple times with odin failed alot.
Worked a few minutes ago. Why it didnt work? Download Mode stops after a while.
So TWRP installed- Now i can finally open Recovery mode. It told me that there was no os installed. true. I tried to install my os again. it worked.. soo. yea.
what do we learn?
dont root if you dont know anything about your phone :good:
sincerly,
me, the noob.
