[Q] Low in call volume - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've looked around, and while I've found similar threads in MotoX, I havent found anything similar for the Samsung S3. Ever since I upgraded to android 4.4.2, my in-call volume has been very low. Unless I'm in a quiet room, I am unable to hear a thing. My speaker is fine, as is the volume on a head set, but the volume from the ear phone is very low. Has anyone encountered this recently, and if so, what was the fix? I've tried changing ROMs, going back to 4.3, etc, but nothing seems to reverse the problem.
Thanks all!

Any recommendation? I used boeffla, but unfortunately that only changes the volume for headphones and the rear speaker, not the ear speaker

Headphone volume

I don't have the phone yet but I've seen people saying that the headphone volume is a bit quiet.
Obviously "quiet" is a personal thing, but if it is quiet (to me), is there a way to make it louder? Music (and satnav) are the two most important things to me.
Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm an Android noob.
If to mean apart from turning the volume up no, though I've found it to loud to listen to comfortably on full volume and I'm 18 not some old guy haha hope that helps

Not quite true......
If you root then you can use dps manager to pump up the volume (Though it is debatable weather or not this compromises on quality).
You could also use the EQ settings in Power AMP to do a the same sort of thing...
I have installed volume+ by Meltus. It also has some eq and bass boost settings too. You can download it from here and doesnt require root. I also use poweramp. I found the biggest gains on the speaker and bluetooth. Be careful with max boost and volume in speaker mode as I got my speaker to pop and stop working for a few seconds but luckily wasnt damaged.

A recent post mentioned the secret code to raise basic volume level .

the title of the thread was called "volume codes". it seemed to have the real deal code fixes, but some said it worked while others said it didnt, so i'm totally confused.
for the people with low volume thru headphones, is this only with the stock headset? or has anyone tried a higher quality headset and sill have low volume?

[Q] any way to increase in-call speaker volume?

Hey,
I'm having a problem with the extremely low in-call speaker volume on my GSM hero. Anyone got a solution to this problem?
The amount of information you communicate is overwhelming.
How about a headset?
what kind of information would you like? the phone is rooted, i've tried a whole bunch of different roms and kernels and still no difference. At the moment i'm using WildHeroWWE 1.2.1 and LV 0.4.7 . And I would really like to be able to use the phone "as is"
Yeah, ROM and kernel were the informations I wanted to hear.
Not that I'm aware of the different settings of ROMs or kernels in the audio area, however I tried to find some informations.
As you said, there is no change in the in-call volume on different ROMs.
So I would count the software part out.
Maybe you got a defective speaker?
Let's try something out: While calling change the output to the external call speaker. It should at least be a bit more unquiet. Maybe you can compare the different loudnesses (loudnesses?! ) ... if the external speaker acts normal there is definitely a problem with the internal speaker.
Have you tried to raise the volume with the left button?! You didn't answer to your old thread, so I think you did.
Well, it's like this, everything seems to work, the in-call speaker volume is just a little to low. I can hear everything that is said when i'm talking on the phone, if i'm in a totally quiet room or something like that. The sound is infact quite clear, I would just like it to be a little louder. If i set the call to speaker, the volume is normal, i'ts just the in-call speaker volume that is too low.
Really hope some of this stuff makes sense...

[Q] In-Call headphone volume problem with Galaxy S2

Hello, I've bought Galaxy S2 this month and already got it rooted, now I've played with it, before anything, it worked ok, yes the volume wasn't tip top on my headset (Just headphones from audiotechnics), but it was at least bare-able.
now I've played with some settings it told me to go to service mode and change some settings, now I don't know what I've changed exactly but now things are much worse, and I don't even think this is somehow related to the service mode.
I've looked everywhere, tried everything, from equalizers to volume hacks, nothing worked.
What I can tell you is that for SOME reason, I've got LOTS of different headsets + bluetooth, and at one point when I installed... which I think is actually what did the thing is that when I installed CM7.1 which just destroyed it, even just volume on media playback.
So to cut things short, I've tried several headphones and figured out that the headset that comes with the galaxy s2 works just fine, and it makes me think that this issue is somehow related to the many headset profiles I have. But the real question is how do I fix it?!
Any help on the issue would make me smile, because for now, I have to talk regularly or via samsung headset.
Thank you.
Welcome to the low volume world of Galaxy S2. You probably didn't destroyed anything, the headphone volume output is ridiculously low. I have tried many different headphones from stock Samsung, to Sony noise cancelling to Sennheiser top of the world noise cancelling and the volume is still not enough. The best sound I get is from Sony noise cancelling headphones ( don't know the model number, they are around $60.00 in US). The service settings do nothing, they come back to original after one or two phone calls or when you re boot the phone. Are you running 2.3.5? I am reading on this site that the volume is set higher in that firmware. I am on stock 2.3.4. Applications like volume + don't really work, it crashes a lot and doesn't work for phone calls anyway.
Thanks for the feedback mate,
I'm on lite'ning rom right now, it fixed the music volume thing, because that also was a problem after installing cyanogenmod, I guess only time will tell.
Battery life, well I hope with power saving mode it will be better also, but still, I'm used to my iphone, talking through normal headphones
So there's nothing to do but wait?
Try volume + program.. less you raise headphones and speaker volumes on sgsii . Don't know what you are doing but it has never crashed once on mine. You set it and forget it, it doesn't even run all the time

[Q] Xperia u external speaker

hey guys, my xperia u's external speaker has became very low, and even the ringtone is not audible from like 5-6 feets away. i tried flashing stock ROM and the speaker volume improved a bit, (i know AOSP and CM ROMs have low volume) but its still not that ok. My guess is that its a hardware related issue, and in that case i should get the speaker replaced, so my question is, how much will it cost? and if i get it replaced with a duplicate speaker, will it work if i change ROMs? and if its a software related issue, what else can i do other than flashing stock ROM. Also, the speaker feels distorted apart from being very low. Currently using stock ICS. Thanks.

(Z5 Compact / E5823) Speaker volume lowering itself

Greetings.
Just bought the Z5C. Phone is awesome, but when I play anything over the speakers (incoming call, music, etc.) the volume is good for about a second, and then it turns very silent.
Anyone experienced this, or knows something about the issue?

Hey! I had this same issue for the first day that I had the phone. It was driving me crazy. What drives me even more crazy is I don't what I did to fix it. I am not entirely sure, but I noticed a difference after pairing the Z5C to a bluetooth speaker for about 30 minutes. When I unpaired and went back to the speakers on the phone they were substantially better. Hope this helps...

I was trying different things on my phone and decided to factory reset it. After it rebooted the same problem is back. Low volume for second, then super quiet. I tried replicating the same process I thought somehow fixed the issue before and it didn't help. I've tried messing with all the audio settings, toggles here and there but nothing seems to fix it. I wonder what this might be and why the phone all of a sudden started working like it should last time. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi, I had the same problem with lower sound from speakers after 30 seconds. After disabling "STAMINA" the speakers are very loud. And if you put "Audio settings" to "standby aktive" you could even activate "STAMINA" without speaker loudness problems
Yeah happened to me yesterday as I was listening to the Radio app while on a walk. Went from relatively loud to super low quiet. I thought maybe I pocket bumped the volume or something.
Same problem. In my case, I noticed audio almost stops from one of the speakers (sometimes the top one, sometimes the bottom one, wich indicates it may not be a hardware issue). Happens on games, music, videos, or calls with the speaker on. Seems to be random.
searching for this problem (this is also happening to me (mostly top speaker while i playing and mostly games
is only one speaker(top) for me not 2 speakers
(maybe the heat? if im not the only one is hardware or software? ) it was at 5.1.1 so updated to 6.0 still the same.. maybe speaker wont working well while heated? tried to shake the device thought maybe something loose connection inside
