[Q] What can I flash with the SCH-I545 on Verizon? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I have an HTC One that I converted to a GPE. My fiance has a VZW Galaxy S4 and is jealous. I found a Google Play ROM on here that I'd like to flash (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643031), but I am not sure it will work with her phone. She has a SCH-I545 running the latest 4.3 release from VZW. I rooted the device last week and besides that haven't done anything to the phone ever.
There was a post in that thread that seemed to indicate that I would not be able to load the ROM I'd like due to it requiring Loki and something about the bootloader being locked on her version. This is where I kind of lose it. I am not familiar with Loki, but TWRP for the VZW Galaxy S4 states that it has been modified with Loki (http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/181). In my head it makes sense that since I have root, I can load TWRP recovery and use that to flash the ROM to the device, and that it would work because TWRP has been modified with Loki.
Can someone advise me on this? I have held off on anything beyond root since I haven't been able to find a definite answer.

I suspect you have the MK2 build and bootloader if you're on 4.3. I recommend you read this thread, it will answer your questions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578569

[Q] Reverting back to MDK from rooted MK2

I have a Verizon S4, rooted with safe root, Safestrap installed, running MK2 Hyperdrive ROM. I was wondering if there is anyway to get back to complete stock MDK where I can root and install a custom recovery like I would on any other Android phone? I really want to install the GPE ROM and other AOSP/Vanilla android ROMS. I have a lot of rooting and customizing experience from previous Android phones, but this is the first one on Verizon, instead of Sprint, that I've had and its more locked down than anything I've had also.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

There is no way to downgrade to mdk at all.
If that were a possibility I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be so many people on safestrap recovery.

Having a Sprint and Verizon phone I know what your going through right now.... Total opposite on Verizon than what you've been used to. Here's a good place to start with info for our phones http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49334432
It'd be great if we could just use Chainfire to root these phones and then Odin a recovery on but no dice. Big red and ATT are bootloader Nazis

[Q] Unlock Bootloader for Samsung Galaxy S4 by Downgrading?

I am currently running a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-i545 NC5. I've been wanting CyanogenMod for a while now, but from what it seems the bootloader is completely locked for the S4. I have read that it is possible to downgrade to an older version to get the unlocked bootloader, is this possible? If it is possible I don't know which version to downgrade to... ME7, MDK, MJ7?
Thanks
not possible. if you're running MDK you can do the loki exploit but anything other than MDK is not able to be patched, worked around, etc.

Ok thanks, but I have seen downgrade videos on YouTube, I haven't tried it but I'm guessing that if you do this you keep your baseband version?

Follow the video if you want. If you manager to downgrade to MDK you can TOTALLY use the loki exploit to work around the locked bootloader and use a custom recover.
However, you can't downgrade a Verizon S4 to MDK. If you manage to get the software on your phone, it wont boot (or your really smart). There is a 148 page thread at the very top of this forum called "If we are serious about unlocking the bootloader". You think that would still be going if you could just downgrade?

Haha Ok thanks for the help, I'll probably just wait until I get the Nexus 5 and stick with the Eclipse ROM

Dont think it would even work. It verifies something (Think it was the MD5 or something?) in the file and if its a lower version it will just block you from proceeding.

There's a bootloader value number and firmware won't flash if it has a lower number. Firmwares such as nc5 and nc2, as well as mk2 and mj7, can be downgraded because they have the same bootloader value.

[Q] Looking for a one click root . I am running Android 4.4.2

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SCH-1605) that is running android 4.4.2. I am currently out of contract with Verizon and I would like to start installing custom roms on my device. However, the latest OTA update has my bootloader locked down like Fort Knox. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

You can use a method in the general section to get root, which isn't one click, but you have to unlock the bootloader to install custom recovery to flash roms which can't currently be done on 4.3 and up for this phone.

Ok. Cool. Hopefully, someone will find an exploit to get pass this bootloader soon.
.
So I'm on 4.3 and rooted. Am I still unable to have a recovery? I'm having horrible Wi-Fi issues and i can't figure out why. So wanna go back to og Rom to process and eliminate

[Q] What can I do??? MK2 to MDK

Is there anything I can do to roll back to MDK BASEBAND so I can actually unlock the bootloader? I am currently on MK2 stock ROM.
Is it even possible to unlock the bootloader on MDK? I have spend over 6 hours researching and trying to figure this thing out. I really want to stay away from safestrap...
Can someone point me to a thread or explain this to me? I can't seem to find anything relevant to this question.

No way to rollback to MDK my friend - the only ones on MDK are us lucky sods that got it that way and kept it. The bootloader is not unlocked on MDK - workaround is available using Loki exploit. Verizon quickly closed that hole with subsequent "upgrades". At this point safestrap is your only option.

So there is no way to NUKE the phone and push the original MDK Baseband to the phone like it was done at the factory? : (

nope. maybe if you were a top samsung executive you could do something.

Of1... Am I stuck??

I have a Verizon S4 that is currently running Lollipop OF1.
I have heard that root and custom recoveries aren't installable with this update, and this update is not downgradeable. Is this true?
Yes, all of that is true.
From what I've seen, some users have achieved root but you are right on not being able to have custom recovery, only users with the MDK bootloader can install recoveries. Downgrading is not available either. I recommended taking some time and reading through the forums and educate yourself on what you can and can't do.
Edit: Looks like root is not available yet, I have MDK so I don't really look into it much.
