[Q] HELP: need to revert back to stock android! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey there XDA I am currently running CM 10 and I need to bring my VZW GNote 2 back into the store to do a trade in but I don't know how to get stock android back on to my phone. I tried to find a flashable zip through google but i couldn't find one and I also don't know how to use ODIN so if anybody could please give me a tutorial or point me to one I would greatly appreciate it! I also don't know of a way to unroot my phone.
Thanks!

If you want to unroot and restore to stock, using ODIN is a good way to do this. Droidstyle has put together a really helpful guide on how to return your phone to Stock. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207 Don't forget to give him some thanks.
In Droidstyle's guide... if you go to Section 1b: How to return to stock 4.X Jelly Bean coming from any rom with Odin , and then follow steps 1-7 under that section, you should be able to unroot the phone and restore it to stock. You may want to restore to the firmware for "Official VRAMC3 4.1.2 5/5/13." This way. if you decided to not swap the phone for some reason... then you could still root it/unlock bootloader with Casual... and then easily reinstall whatever Custom Rom you want to use for it. (If you restore to Stock VRUEMJ9 4.3, then you will end up locking the bootloader.... but if you are definitely swapping it out, then that may be the way to go).
If you want to get a more detailed guide on ODIN, here's a link to another forum that should be helpful... http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ide-samsung-how-flash-stock-rom-via-odin.html **(This is only a general guide for learning more about Odin... so stick with Droidguide's tutorial when you actually do the Stock Restore process).
Also... I found a Youtube video that should be helpful for visual reference -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qtbEevn1VA. (Again... this is just for reference... so I would stick with getting your download files from Droidstyle's guide and following Droidstyle's restore instructions).
I hope this is helpful. Good luck with returning the phone to stock.

I just want to say Thank you for the link you provided. Most posts replying to questions are the usual "just do a little searching ..." and no one ever provides a starting point.
I've spent a lot of time "searching" and running into conflicting information or information pertaining to a completely different issue.
So again, Thank you for the link. It made this post simple.
[EDIT] I almost forgot to ask jimprime, why are you wanting to go back to stock and unrooted ?
I have not yet rooted, but have noticed a lot of people are looking at going back to stock and I am curious. Why root in the first place?
well first its not really my phone second i just wanted to try out froyo on the vibrant didn't c much difference and i didn't really find it that much faster than the stock and i switch back to stock
yea this helps out alot

Eris completely back to STOCK unroot?

Hi I was just wondering what files I need and what needs to be done to get my HTC droid eris back to stock completely and unroot it? Like if I purchased it from the store brand new.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Please use the search function and you will find exactly what you need
This thread has a downloadable ROM with rudimentary instructions for how to download the ROM and install to get back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792026
And this thread, starting mostly in post number 4 (the first three posts tell you how to root an unrooted phone, so you can ignore those steps, though they are probably still worth a read), will walk you through the steps that you need to do in order to actually install that ROM to get back to stock. If you do not want to go back to what you have now, you can ignore the Nandroid Backup step: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/127861-universal-eris-root-dummies.html
(Note that bftb0 in the first thread and Erisuser1 in the second thread are the same person.)

I actually tried that myself (search for "Eris back to stock unroot") and did not get very much help, actually. There is a lot of material here and it can be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff for someone who is new to this.
+1 for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792026
as long as you still have s-on it will return it to the same place it was when you got it... well if you got it after the march ota that is.

The search function sucks on this site, especially when navigating with a phone. Way too much fluff to distinguish from actual help

"eris stock" does the trick on the search

Yes, Odin cwm4 and download superclean eh03 and flash that via cwm. Wipe data cache and davlik before flashing.
better to be safe than odining - me
This is way over my head. I was hoping for something simple. Thanks for the help though.

give this a read... It works, just a lengthy process.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17222830&postcount=2
as nitsuj17 posted, flashing deodexed eh03 rom is by far the easiest method. If you got your phone on 2.3.5 this should be easy...or is verizon finally ota updating 2.3.5 to the fascinates?
It's really not that hard at all. Follow this guide. It couldn't be any more simple than this.
If you just want to be rooted and leave your phone on gingerbread, follow section 5. It's very easy. If you're looking for something else, read his description carefully at the top.
Rooting and flashing is incredibly easy on this phone. If you're coming from the OG Droid for example, you're going to be blown away at how easy it is. Anyway, good luck and don't give up. It's really not over your head!
Don't give up...
Roger,
I know it can sound daunting, but it really isn't. Everthing you need to get to rooted version of GB (SuperClean3) can be found in the first 4 posts of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350621
Follow the instructions step by step and you will be good to go. The advantages of both a rooted phone and a debloated/modded ROM are well worth the effort. I am a relative noob, and managed to get there in under 30 minutes.
Good Luck.
Dave
Droidstyle thanks this worked great.

[Q] [ROOT] Looking for a SIMPLE Root Method

All, I am a noob to this and could really use the help. Everything seems so convoluted.
I just returned my phone to AT&T because of some issues.I was able to root that one without an issue. However they now provided another phone with ICS on it. I don't want to install a ROM or change the kernel. Just want to use the AT&T software and have it come up the same way just rooted. I saw the GalaxyS2Root.com site but it changes the kernel to Siyah an load up screen picture is different.
I want to have the ability to load titanium back up and freeze the tethering program so I can tether my tablet.
Once again I just want a simple rooting program with minimal but detailed steps. I appreciate any assistance that you pros can give me.
Forever in your debt!!
Thanks
Vipe

Dont go to galaxys2root and read the damn stickies. Cmon man!
I wish I could update the how to root guide in the stickies, but I'm not the original poster and the original poster has been gone from the forums since before Christmas. For what you want, use Odin to flash stock ICS plus root, which you can find in the development section, probably on the 2nd page.

[Q] My phone is rooted, how do I unroot it?

Sorry I know you guys get common stuff like this a lot, and as such I searched for my issue but everything I found lead me to a dead end.
I'm currently using VZW Galaxy S4 (SCH-i545) with build VRUDMI1 and android 4.2.2
I had disabled OTA updates by using a guide about a year ago. I'm needing to unroot my phone and put it back to stock so I can get OTA and move on to 4.4 (I don't know enough about custom roms and flashing to do it without OTA).
From what I read, I need to use odin to flash a tar file while in download mode. Problem is, I don't know which file to get. I've looked at some guides but I can't find a working link for an SCH-545 VRUDMI1 with 4.2.2
Any help would be appreciated and thanks for your time.

Thank you, I did discover that very thread, but the build number doesn't match mine. I wasn't sure if that made any difference and out of fear of bricking my phone, I posted this to make sure. So even though the build isn't what mind presently says, it should be ok?

Yea, this will update and unroot all in one. Like the post said, if that update doesn't work, then grab the NC2 one. It would be best to factory reset as well.
