Here comes a good reason to still hope that maybe we'll get 4.4.2....i contacted htc support and asked to publish the source code for the 4.2.2 kernel and sure i mentioned how bad it is that we won't be able to get 4.4.2 and look what they said to me... Just check the screenshot, I think we are in the right way!

This data was released March 24, 2014. The data in the chart says it all. It would be great if we had a kernel dev, maybe then we could have things like a fully working cyanogenmod for the AT&T version of the One X+ or even a Sense 5.5 port. Maybe something screwy is with the 4.1.1 kernel, I don't know. All I know is even if we don't get anything, this phone is still a decent phone and I'm tired of HTC. I sincerely wished I bought a Nokia Lumia. The camera on that phone is AMAZING.
I agree that what HTC replied is a pretty standard answer. Unfortunately, nothing good will be coming our way.
To have 4.4.2 with htc sense 6 will give experience like HTC One m8
Lets hope for the best.

This ain't gonna happen, support for One X+ has been dropped, they may release the source code, but no updates will come. We still can't obtain S-Off even after two years. I'm sticking with Stable CM ROMs.

That tells absolutely nothing, its generic response. 4.2.2 will not come, its simple not possible without sources from Tegra, even Nvidia is dropping from manufacturing CPU processors..
Hi can you tell me how the individual components (nvidia tegra source, Android 4.4.2 and kernel source, S-OFF etc.) hang together?
im new to the HOX + and at the moment I still have a lot of fun with experimenting and tweaking .. but how "future-proof" is HTC or the One X +?
Thanks for answers
HOX+ enrc2b, ARHD8.0, Elitekernel3.1.10 modded
It's not. It's actually ALREADY discontinued, and has been for a while now. The last update is and was the 4.2.2 with Sense 5. Nothing will come after this, as HTC claims nVidia dropped support for the SoC on the One X and One X+.
To conclude, the One X/One X+ is not at all future-proof. It's already in the past.
Hm damn. Then I have probably bought the wrong phone :S
thanks for the reply.

You can still use some original Android 4.4 ROMs (no Sense, thus), they work (mostly) good on our phones.
yeah. the most I've tested... AOKP, CM.. 4.2-4.4 versions but i love the look of sense.
well, then I now have just enough time to play around with xposed: D
Hi! Whether there are any news concerning Kit Kat or already it won't be because of Tegra?
It won't be.

Hello,
I'm also afraid we won't get the official HTC update to 4.4.2.
Which is in your opinion the best ROM to use for everyday useage ?
I want to get a smartwatch, but they all require at least android 4.3 and I'm stuck on 4.2.2..
Thanks.

That's exactly my problem as well. If only HTC had given us at least 4.3, so that the One X+ would be compatible with Android Wear.
the htc one m7 can be had for the same price as the one x+ now. just sell your x+ and get an M7

Sorry, I'm sure this was probably asked before. Is it drivers or just the parts used? I notice HTC devices seem faster to hack up. I'm going to be upgrading my device sometime in the next 6 months and would love a Galaxy S2 but if the same hardships faced with the Vibe will be present again- I think I might go back to HTC. missmysamoled.jpg

Samsung lol. That's about the most fact-filled short answer you can get. Their releases are horribly late. Vibrant just got 2.2 OTA, CM is at 2.3.3. HTC has been far more supportive of AOSP as well. Samsung......not so much.
I recently moved to Sprint from T-Mobile and as you can see(sig) got me the Evo. I wish I had waited a few months for the 3d but maybe I'll sell the Evo and do my own upgrade when the time comes. I won't say I'll never buy Samsung again but I will be fully aware of what I am getting if I do.
My best answer.
It has to do with HTC phones run with stock Android and so the devs can work with the new source code faster cause they don't have to deal with proprietary or manufacturer's modded source.

It's because cyanogen team knows what to do with htc phones plus htc releases source codes unlike samsung.

You are correct. The only htc phones I know of that are AOSP are the G2 and N1. That's off the top of my head though.

There are a lot of differences between how HTC and Samsung do things... these guys also started and know HTC a lot more. HTC IS better about releasing source. Heck, Samsung doesn't release everything even when they do (driver source).
All that said though... I really do not understand why someone has not been able to get a solid RC for us. I honestly do not even know who is working on CM7 for the Vibrant, and it's not officially supported...
I know a lot of progress has been made, but the CM7 we have still has a lot of work to do. Just wish those more in the know could really get that ball rolling, instead of using leaks (esp I9000 leaks which have proven to be terrible on our battery).
I don't know enough, but I know people on here do....

Salam Mahdi,
That is the old update to ICS that we already have. There is no need to update as everyone is on the latest firmware anyway. HTC is never going to update the Amaze. It's long dead. RIP. You know it's dead when it's completely removed from HTC's main website. :crying:
Also, HTC only has 100 people creating updates to HTC Sense. No wonder it takes forever. A lot of staff also QUIT HTC, it's a doomed company.
Also, the general rule of software updates is to NEVER UPDATE WHEN ROOTED!!!! You might brick your device or break something. Whenever something gets updated developers pick apart the update and just make it flashable for us. If you wanted to update something you would have to unroot, re-lock and then flash a RUU to get back to complete stock. Then you'd have to update manually. But there is no need as this phone is at the latest firmware.

No problem.
It's actually "you're" and not "u're" lol.
Using the word "you" instead of "u" sounds more professional.
I think the Amaze is on it's deathbed now. It never was a famous device to begin with, nor did it last. It still lived up to it's name, it was on par with the One S (except the One S had a more up-to-date chip at the time). It was HTC's putrid attempt to fix the Sensation's RAM issues by releasing a new device, but they killed both the Sensation and the Amaze in a few short months! This is why HTC is stupid in my opinion and suffers financially. If HTC cared about their users they would at least give us and Sensation owners stock 4.1.2 Jellybean like Samsung did in the Galaxy S III I think you should upgrade to a better phone when you have money. :good:
I'm going to develop for the Amaze again when the ION kernel comes out (maybe it won't even come out cause everyone is too busy  ).
But time will tell what will happen. There have been all sorts of crazy things in our forum.

Yes it's on 3.2 now. It's as stable as a BOULDER! There is not much left to do to that ROM. I might bake something later when I get time. It's a nice stable stock-look ROM to always fall back on.

The problem is that HTC doesn't care, and Qualcomm doesn't support the chipset any longer!
Luckily, an ION kernel from a dev like Sportsstar (there's others working on it too!) would let us port Sense 5 or Sense 4! And JB Sense 4.5. That would be the rebirth of the Amaze. Until then, we're in a sinking hole.
thank you guys, you'll find a way, i know it
As llior is now no more doing developing for our phone is there any other developer who will take place of llior or developing for this phone will just stop...as cm 11 on nightly and m4 v.
And will there will be any chance that android L custom rom will be there for our phone....or thia phone will stuck on this condition
I guess we are all DOOMED!
The reality is that since HOX+ is based on an old X device, HTC is not paying much attention to it, despite several rumours here and there. Regarding custom roms we have Carbon, ParanoidAndroid, CyanogenMod, MoKee, RevolutionHD and others (sorry if somone missed out).
Since fewer people have HOX+ as it is not selling anymore, means that it is not in the priority list for new developments hence we get less development and updates

The HOX+ is still being sold in MANY countries. Just saying. and HTC did not update it to KitKat blaming Nvidia.
I bought an HTC M8 days ago , I wish I could send Lloir my HOX+ But I live in Jordan in the middle east which I'm pretty sure is so far away from him Just sending the phone might cost as much as the phone itself.

Hello, I noticed from the HTC website that the Droid DNA will not be getting the Lollipop update at all. Is anyone here planning to build a ROM for the DNA based on Lollipop? A quick search in this forum didn't turn up much. I haven't rooted this phone yet but would be willing to in order to keep getting updates. I think it's ridiculous for HTC to stop supporting this device, as the hardware specs are still up there with even the brand new phones coming out.
Assuming from your post that you're looking for sense updates. I'd be surprised if someone doesn't get a lollipop version up for sense. I plan on keeping Team EOS going for the DNA, so there's always that if you're into the whole aosp thing.
Are you gonna build a lollipop eos?

That is what his post says. Once eos uses 5.0 sources it will just be the painful task of getting it to work on the DNA.
OP: once the M7 gets 5.0, I suspect @santod040 would port to the DNA when he has time, if it works. From what I have read and seen, the M7 and DNA have similar enough internals to make a port trivial in the right skilled hands like danjul and santod

Sounds great. I don't care about Sense. I absolutely hate that Verizon is dropping support for future updates to this phone. Its specs are just as good if not better than many brand new phones (*cough* iPhone 6 *cough*). I look forward to following the development!

yup...I think a lot of people didn't see the M9 as a real upgrade to the M8 and only for those who didn't jump from M7 to M8 combined with the horrible press about the overheating (I've yet to experience) and camera (love the camera updates for what I use it for) and whining about it not being 4k (seriously, who needs that on a phone?) means it's not been a very popular device.
Screw 'em...I think it's a huge upgrade from the M7, especially the camera (even in it's original iteration).
Many thanks to @OMJ @benny3 and @chas123 for supporting this device.

This maybe true but another thing to point out is that this phone is so complete that there is hardly anything left to mod or add. I'm mean the only thing left for you to add to the phone is to add the 5.1 update to your ROM. Other then that your ROM is so complete its been on REV 24 for over a month with nothing else to add or tweak. Of course there is the point you already made that this phone being so close to the M8 that your ROM was already matured through the M8 days.

This is especially true when it comes to theming. You pretty much can theme it the way you want very easy. Im not a big themer or theme design, this latest Android 5.1 is very difficult to theme. Since its still new quite a bunch of apks are not compiling correctly and im not that skilled yet or have the time lately to figure out why, LOL. Other then the Viper Theming threads not much Theming has been going on throughout all HTC M9 versions.

Traded my flex2 for a HTC One m9, rooted it, unlocked it, and then I installed badboyz the very first day. Love it. I'm so used to having cm/aosp on all my devices and I customize the crap out of them but I have to say that I have hardly seen any lag or performance issues on this phone. The phone gets pretty warm when doing heavy tasks like playing a game and what not but I don't find it any different then other devices doing the same tasks.
Either way, I love the m9. It's a well built solid device. I jumped at the chance to trade haha. Their loss

I will say this is probably the least active forum I have seen out of all the HTC's I have own which is every flagship for Sprint since the evo 4G (even going back to TP1 & TP2). That being said, OMJ's badboyz is awesome I have been using it since I got the phone. There is also no red text hboot and custom splash screens just like my M8 had. I like this phone, while really not much different from my M8 besides the camera it's not as big of fail as people make it out to be. I'm hoping the M10 is a nice refresh and hopefully HTC is done with trying camera gimmicks. I would like to see higher resolution screen next year & wireless charging.
