Hello, I noticed from the HTC website that the Droid DNA will not be getting the Lollipop update at all. Is anyone here planning to build a ROM for the DNA based on Lollipop? A quick search in this forum didn't turn up much. I haven't rooted this phone yet but would be willing to in order to keep getting updates. I think it's ridiculous for HTC to stop supporting this device, as the hardware specs are still up there with even the brand new phones coming out.
Assuming from your post that you're looking for sense updates. I'd be surprised if someone doesn't get a lollipop version up for sense. I plan on keeping Team EOS going for the DNA, so there's always that if you're into the whole aosp thing.
Are you gonna build a lollipop eos?

That is what his post says. Once eos uses 5.0 sources it will just be the painful task of getting it to work on the DNA.
OP: once the M7 gets 5.0, I suspect @santod040 would port to the DNA when he has time, if it works. From what I have read and seen, the M7 and DNA have similar enough internals to make a port trivial in the right skilled hands like danjul and santod

Sounds great. I don't care about Sense. I absolutely hate that Verizon is dropping support for future updates to this phone. Its specs are just as good if not better than many brand new phones (*cough* iPhone 6 *cough*). I look forward to following the development!

Still have been waiting for the Sense 5 official update, can't find anything on it anymore. Getting real tired of HTC/Verizon's crap -_-
It's supposedly being tested right now. You can always root and use the sense 5 rom if you're tired of waiting.
Edit: Deadline for 4.3 on the DNA is the end of September. So hopefully they'll throw in Sense 5. Android Police
I've been following a few Android news sites. I don't remember specifics but I thought I heard something about this being available in 4.2.2 . A quick google search shows that atodd.94 was right. Looks like the last update was two weeks ago though. OTA updates are usually very slow. If you want it quickly, I can attest that NOS M7 3.0.1 (JB 4.2.2) and NOS M7 2.0.3 (JB 4.1.2) both work very well.
HTC USA responded to one of my comments asking about a timeframe on DNA updates, and I was told that they don't have info like that pre planned, and as they figure things like that out they tell us. Which I'm 110% sure is a load of bull-dooky.

Maybe that should say they do have it preplanned, but since Verizon tells them what to do, how to do, and what to say about the DNA, it isn't really preplanned at all. So as Verizon tells them, they tell us.

So basically it is preplanned, but HTC doesn't know squat about it.

There was a news article yesterday. HTC says they're updating the DNA by the end of September.
I can't wait for it to be out. I'm currently running 4.3, but I'm not sure if I'd go stock or not when it comes out.
I see Scott posted his Hyperdrive ROM over on the HTC Verizon One Development thread. Wondering if that could easily be ported to the DNA using the porting tool found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196491and a 4.2.2 Sense 5 base Rom like newts?
I loved Hyperdrive ROM on my SGS3 and would love to try to get it to the DNA
I'm sure it could but usually the developer owns the device they develop for or else users have to do all the testing which can get tricky. We have 4.3 out pretty stable and 4.2.2 sense 5 basically stable as well. We will get the 4.3 sense 5 update soon and our devs will trick it out so you've got options but we are lucky that we will have some good development projects well into next year.

Oh yeah I completely agree. Development for this phone continues to improve and it's great. Many options. I was just simply wondering if that would work.
As long as the base/port roms are the same base (aosp/aosp, sense/sense) it should work more or less right?

Should, yes. Its just different hardware basically albeit very similar to the ONE.
Hi,
So I have been a member of this forum since I had my first HTC phone (the Inspire). Recently (maybe a year or so ago?) I got my HTC One X+ (AT&T) and I was looking forward to custom ROMs since there were numerous problems with them on my Inspire (look at my past posts). I am running Elegancia 5.2.0 which is still based on the 4.1.1 Jellybean. I want to move to a custom ROM with a 4.2.2 base, but the only things I find are international versions of the ROMs. Have developers completely just forgotten the AT&T/ Telus versions of the phone? Why is no one developing ROMs for both versions of the phone anymore? Is there anyone that is working on an updated ROM for the AT&T/ Telus version? I understand that developers are dedicating their time to produce these ROMs, but why has the other version of the phone just become completely forgotten?
Sorry for the rant, but I had to get this off since it has gotten agonizing not being able to run the newest Android OS with a custom ROM since no one produces anything else except international versions. Thanks for reading.
Mindaugas
If on anyone blame it on AT&T. They have not released to us the 4.2.2 update. Devs are always with us and still developing amazing pieces of work... you just have to read to see.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 4
All the problems can pretty much be blamed on the carriers almost exclusively. There are devs who would make a updated rom if they had the source. As for porting international ROMs over, as was common practice for the Inspire 4G and Desire HD, there are apparently hardware issues that come up that devs either can't fix, or just don't want to spend unneeded time trying to get working. (Like LTE)
In short, yell at ATT and/or Google and the manufactures for allowing carriers to hold up updates to fill it with crapware.

Thanks for explaining it to me guys. It just is annoying me to death.
i have also bought a htc one x+ instead htc one x international version (even though both were of same price).. didnt see the development ratio 1st and now i m regretting my purchase...
nothing much to test/play arround only elegancia and venom XL :crying:
Yeah, from what I understand it's got a lot to do with the hardware. Seems very few phones are using the tegras, etc. and as a result very few devs end up with the device...basically, it's just much easier to develop for the more standardized hardware so those are the devices the devs gravitate to. Add on to that very small number of devs that there's no s-off, no 4.2.2 update, etc. and you have your reason.
I was also hoping to have more to play around with on this phone, but unfortunately that seems highly unlikely. As time goes on we'll probably see less development and fewer devs rather than the other way around.
It's not forgotten about

These 2 roms by team nocturnal (correct me if i'm wrong) are simply amazing. When our phone finally receives android 4.3 with possible sense 5.5, will these roms get updated to 4.3 as well? I will have this phone for over a year to come as I am just a poor teenager who stumbled upon rooting and the android developement world with an LG Optimus S, and upgraded to the Evo 4G LTE in may of 2013.
Will major developers like NIN and sinistertensei still be developing for our phone?
apologizes if this is a dumb question. Just never know when a developer will move on.

Well we all know amazing roms don't always come from xda. Why don't you ask them personal via Private message. We don't even have sense 5 from HTC and most people doubt we'll see it from them. (As a OTA)

HTC has broken their promise's before, but with the update planned to go into sprint testing in mid january, It's very likely we will see it.
You do make a good point however, I just typed this on the go earlier.
Thread closure
As previously stated by another member, there's really no point in discussing matters like this, when the ROM's are not hosted on XDA.
It's better to post your questions on the Developers own websites. Just Google them. They're pretty easy to find.
So with that said, it's better off to close this thread.
Cheers

Here comes a good reason to still hope that maybe we'll get 4.4.2....i contacted htc support and asked to publish the source code for the 4.2.2 kernel and sure i mentioned how bad it is that we won't be able to get 4.4.2 and look what they said to me... Just check the screenshot, I think we are in the right way!

This data was released March 24, 2014. The data in the chart says it all. It would be great if we had a kernel dev, maybe then we could have things like a fully working cyanogenmod for the AT&T version of the One X+ or even a Sense 5.5 port. Maybe something screwy is with the 4.1.1 kernel, I don't know. All I know is even if we don't get anything, this phone is still a decent phone and I'm tired of HTC. I sincerely wished I bought a Nokia Lumia. The camera on that phone is AMAZING.
I agree that what HTC replied is a pretty standard answer. Unfortunately, nothing good will be coming our way.
To have 4.4.2 with htc sense 6 will give experience like HTC One m8
Lets hope for the best.

This ain't gonna happen, support for One X+ has been dropped, they may release the source code, but no updates will come. We still can't obtain S-Off even after two years. I'm sticking with Stable CM ROMs.

That tells absolutely nothing, its generic response. 4.2.2 will not come, its simple not possible without sources from Tegra, even Nvidia is dropping from manufacturing CPU processors..
Hi can you tell me how the individual components (nvidia tegra source, Android 4.4.2 and kernel source, S-OFF etc.) hang together?
im new to the HOX + and at the moment I still have a lot of fun with experimenting and tweaking .. but how "future-proof" is HTC or the One X +?
Thanks for answers
HOX+ enrc2b, ARHD8.0, Elitekernel3.1.10 modded
It's not. It's actually ALREADY discontinued, and has been for a while now. The last update is and was the 4.2.2 with Sense 5. Nothing will come after this, as HTC claims nVidia dropped support for the SoC on the One X and One X+.
To conclude, the One X/One X+ is not at all future-proof. It's already in the past.
Hm damn. Then I have probably bought the wrong phone :S
thanks for the reply.

You can still use some original Android 4.4 ROMs (no Sense, thus), they work (mostly) good on our phones.
yeah. the most I've tested... AOKP, CM.. 4.2-4.4 versions but i love the look of sense.
well, then I now have just enough time to play around with xposed: D
Hi! Whether there are any news concerning Kit Kat or already it won't be because of Tegra?
It won't be.

Hello,
I'm also afraid we won't get the official HTC update to 4.4.2.
Which is in your opinion the best ROM to use for everyday useage ?
I want to get a smartwatch, but they all require at least android 4.3 and I'm stuck on 4.2.2..
Thanks.

That's exactly my problem as well. If only HTC had given us at least 4.3, so that the One X+ would be compatible with Android Wear.
the htc one m7 can be had for the same price as the one x+ now. just sell your x+ and get an M7

It's funny how the Nexus 7 got 4.4 while that thing is a Tegra3. Google voodoo?
Now, about our device, let's not forget we can flash Sense6 on top of CM11, shall we? [emoji6]
