[Q] Help Restoring a HTC Desire X to Warranty - HTC Desire X

Hi,
I know there are a million and one threads detailing how to get a HTC Desire X back to original status but with every thread I read I'm getting more and more confused
I have to send the phone back to the manufacturer and obviously need to undo what I've done.
I never actually managed to root the phone - only to unlock the bootloader and install clockworkrecoverymod. I should probably have asked for help then but life got in the way.
The CID of the phone is [HTC__001] and it's a european phone (bought via amazon in the uk if that's any help).
I'm thinking that all I have to do is to remove clockwork recovery mod and relock the bootloader?
Does anyone know how I can remove cwm? or is it stuck there and the relocking of the bootloader will render it hidden?
And with the installation of cwm, is this why I cannot reset my phone to factory data settings? I attempt to and it reboots (even using clockwork recovery mod) but I boot up the phone and it still has everything on it.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] Restore stock and unroot?

I have been trying to find a way to unroot my AT&T HTC One and revert back to stock, but I keep reading that I need a RUU and the AT&T one is now out. I have had success in unlocking and locking the boot loader, but in doing so, a nandroid backup was wiped. I currently have the bootloaded unlocked and twrp recovery with SuperSU installed, but I would like to remove SuperSU.
Is there any way to remove it for good or reflash my device to bring it back to stock?
Thanks

You have probably already read this, I'm not aware of the RUU being available for the AT&T variant yet. Where did you find it?

Terribly sorry, but I meant to write "not out" instead of "now out"
And yes I have read that and keep checking back every couple of days to see if the AT&T one ever shows up.

[Q] Cannot Unlock Bootloader

Guys I have a S on, relocked bootloader, for my google edition htc one. It was unlocked, and I recieved the ota 4.4.2 and the stock recovery never installed the update. Then i seen some where on here to just relock the phone, and it should install no problem. Well that didnt work, and now I cant unlock the phone or flash a custom recovery to it. Please help guys. I really want to just totally wipe the phone and flash another rom on it to get it unlocke and s off. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

[SOLVED] Unroot and flash stock ROM on S-ON AT&T HTC One

Hello, I know that this question has been asked several times, but I have seen a lot of conflicting information and just wanted to get an up to date answer, so here goes.
I am sending my AT&T HTC One back as I am getting a new one: I claimed a warranty exchange because of the pink camera tint issue. Now, I have an unlocked bootloader, but it says S-ON, and there is no "Unlocked" word on the start screen. Fastboot screen says "Tampered" though. I would like to know the right way to flash stock 4.3 ROM on it and unroot it before I send it back. Will my S-ON affect this process in any way? Suggestions and any links to ROMs or other posts are very welcome.
Thanks!
For anyone else having this problem:
1. Download the Guru Reset M7 1.26.502.12 zip file from htc1guru.com
2. Boot to TWRP and flash this zip file: make sure to unroot and install stock recovery and radio in the AROMA installer.
3. Connect a USB OTG cable and a mouse, because the touchscreen will not work when you flash it from a higher firmware.
4. Go through the initial steps and restart your phone a few times so that AT&T will finally get the OTA upgrade.
5. Install OTA upgrade, restart. Now you're running stock everything.
Your bootloader will still be unlocked : You can 'relock' it from fastboot, but I guess AT&T won't notice it because there will be no more red text on the initial HTC splash screen.

unfortunately no. but al those things are very simple. just follow steps one by one and you haven' t any problems. most important is that you have proper drivers installed.

To point you in the right direction...
First thing with a HTC is to understand S-ON / S-OFF vs Unlocked / Locked Boot-loader vs Root.
S-ON / S-OFF is Security, and unique to HTC phones.
With the phone S-ON you can still flash a new kernel (boot.img) and flash new ROM's such as Cyanogenmod (and many more!).
With the phone S-OFF you can flash things like the radio, change the CID (Carrier ID) and more, but being unable to S-OFF is not the end of the world.
Bootloader Locked / Unlocked.
With a locked bootloader, you can still gain root, however depends heavily on the exploit and version of android. A locked bootloader is the main restriction on any device.
With an unlocked bootloader, you can now flash custom recoveries (or just boot into them). Flash custom ROM's, and Flash custom Kernels.
HTCdev.com will allow you to unlock your bootloader by following the instructions on there.
Root = Root, i.e. performing commands or having apps perform functions as the systems Superuser (Administrator) account on your device.
You can have your device S-ON, unlock your device, flash a custom ROM, and not be rooted. It's just most custom ROM's ship with root enabled.
Hopefully the above explains (very basically) the differences between a few terms.
And you most certainly do not need to flash a custom recovery in order to install a custom ROM.
Rob
in all honesty
Unless you really really need it to be unlocked I would honestly advise against unlocking and rooting for this device... when i got mine I loved how smooth the original rom was, but being a long time samsung user I was used to flashing anything with minimal impact. But right now this device has 0 development happening and most people who have unlocked and rooted the EU version of this phone have ended up regretting it as there is no way to restore the original eu firmware...
If you do decided to do it please please please make a full backup of the eu rom before hand... and if you do god i think so many members would love you for posting it on here
but in my own opinion I wouldn't go through with the process again...
@torchwolfery we're sharing exactly the same opinion

Hi Guys,
As I mentioned in my brief explanation of the different terms of rooting / unlocking etc.
You can unlock, and root, while still keeping the stock recovery, and stock ROM.
This means you can root the original ROM to use root apps, and have root, but then simply factory reset to go back to full stock (albeit with an unlocked bootloader).
When you unlock your boot-loader the device will do a factory reset, take a backup at this point, by booting into TWRP (but you don't need to flash TWRP permanently onto the phone.
Instead of >fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Simply type >fastboot boot recovery.img
Your device will load TWRP, allow you to do a full backup, install superuser / supersu.
Once you exit the recovery, your phone still contains the stock recovery.img, stock boot.img, and stock system.
Hope that helps some others before they flash recovery.img (no need!) and then flash an AT&T ROM on the international version.

thanks we know this now and we are not trying to somehow blame you but the fact is that unlocking the bootloader and rooting has caused some issues for us on the international versions... your tutorial works great and gave us what we wanted but sadly there have been downsides on the international version... but now I've manged to get mine fully functioning now

Plenty of errors after custom recovery and bootloader unlock since MM OTA!

I received an OTA update on my AT&T M9 and proceeded to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery, and forgot to make a backup of my system before flashing a new rom. Now I can't get any rom to load properly, and can't run the RUU program from HTC on any of my computers. Does anyone have a way of retrieving an official AT&T firmware zip or any solution? I'm at my wit's end, and HTC was no help at all. The phone is S-On, to make matters worse. And any rom I flash that manages to get to the welcome screen hangs at "Connecting to Wi-fi" forever.
Managed to fix it, had to S-Off to reset my firmware version, but to anyone who screwed up like I did, this is the AT&T Marshmallow update to the HTC One. Fixed my problem, and allowed me to restart from the beginning. To anyone that reads this, $25 is a small price to pay for an S-Off.
