I dropped my phone today and the screen stopped working. But, somehow, the touch still works. I tested with a friend calling me and swiping right to answer the call. Can someone help me? Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks.

Really.......That's not good, get it sent off or try fitting a new one off ebay.
I had a very similar issue with my old HTC Hero, it turned out that the digitizer (touch screen) was broken. ( started more or less like yours but eventually the whole bottom part of the screen didn't work) I was wayyyy off my guarantee so I bought a cheap digitizer off eBay and did a home reparation, worked very well for me :-D
So yeah just send it in for repairs and you'll be just fine

Hey guys,
My phones volume buttons, track pad, and touch screen all don't work.
First i thought it was a ROM problem. So, I flashed a rom using android commander. The rom installed fine and everything but the touch screen, volume buttons, and track pad still didn't work.
When i went into Hboot, it said touch panel: failed.
Is there any way to make the touch padel work again? Am i missing something?
Thanks for the help

As I said in your other post this is a hardware issue. There is no fix for this but to only send it back for replacement. I'd try and go stock before you send it so your warranty doesn't void. Hope this helps. And are you sure you have an espresso? I've never heard of recovery access with back button sequence for this phone.

Yes, I'm 100% positive its espresso...
Yeah, I went back to stock using android commander.
Touch screen, touch pad, and volume buttons still not working.
And I repeatedly get this message no matter what I do, even if not touching phone:
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Not sure what this means...
Guess my phone's really messed up now.
Any help would be appreciated.

That's a common fc since the touch panel doesn't work. As I said there is nothing left to do but replace the phone. Sorry bro its the hardware

Unfortunately he's correct. My my touch slide did the same thing it's a hardware issue.....I tried EVERYTHING before I finally had to send it in. T-Mobile said it was common and sent me a new (refurbished) phone. No fix bro sorry to break it to ya.

Screen turns off when placing phone to ear as expected however does not come back on when pulled away. Only after the 2nd party disconnects will the screen come back on after pressing power button and the only to the lock screen. This is a new issue. Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution?

Maybe faulty proximity sensor. I had that issue in my galaxy nexus. Ended up getting a new one

I'll inquire with Verizon about that.

Call insurance. Get a new one or refurb for that matter.

Are you stock? Rooted? I ran into this issue a few times with persus kernel.
I'm having the same issue. Anyone find a fix for this?
Just got off the phone with Verizon. They're sending a replacement. Something wrong with proximity sensor. Actually appears to be a speck behind glass over sensor.

I have also been having a bit of trouble with the same thing. On top of the screen not always coming on when I move the phone away from my ear during a phone call, sometimes when I pull up the keypad while on the phone and attempt to press a key, the screen will turn off. I think it's because the shadow of my hand makes it think it's back up to my ear. I see two little sensors next to the camera; one of them appears to have a little speck or dot on it. Maybe a piece of dirt in it? Can somebody who doesn't have this problem check and see if they see a very very tiny dot on the sensor closest to the in call speaker?
I've been having the same issue with my Note 2, I was wondering if this could be a software issue since I have messed with a few roms but decided to go back to stock. I've been looking everywhere for a solution, even went as far trying to find replacement files to see if that would fix it, but to no avail. I guess I'll have to replace the device.

Have you received your replacement?
If you have, did they send you a certified like-new or a brand new replacement?
Thank you

I have found a fix for this, at least for me, as I mentioned in an earlier post I had flashed a few ROMs, decided to search the other carriers galaxy note 2 forums and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070360&highlight=proximity+sensor
Luckily there is a Perseus kernel for verizon too here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048013
Will do this later and report.
Edit: the perseus kernel by itself didn't do the trick but beanstown's stock root/deodex and jelly 'beans' roms did! I now have everything working like new with cleanrom installed

Hi all! Now I have this problem. I need to hardly press touchscreen in order to type here and anywhere else. I tried many keyboards and it didn't solve. I was using CM9 and after some days, tge problem started. I removed screen guard also but it didn't helped. I flash also GB and ICS firmware but the problem didn't solved. Why? Scrolling through touch was fine but start up pressing was hard to tiuch and that problem really kill me on using keyboard and playing games. Any idea?

It seems that many of us are having this issue. In my case I deducted it's digitizer problem

Yea I'm planning to do it too, but sometimes screen goes back to normal and that's holding me back.
I also had the same problem and I just go to Sony Centre act like noob who doesn't know what is root etc etc and also my warranty was going to end in three days. So I was really in hurry. And today I got my phone.. And now I find my phone more smother that usual.

i545 s4 Verizon.
I fixed my broken screen myself but however I toasted the digitizer and probably some other sensor towards the top. Now when I am in the middle of a phone call, if I have to turn on the screen to get it off speaker phone or navigate to take notes or whatever, the screen will not turn on until the person hangs up the phone or until I power cycle it with the battery.
Is there some kind of option I can turn off to stop this sort of action? Thanks.
Have you tried to clean out the sensor right above the Samsung logo? A blast of compressed air will do the trick. I had a similar problem with the screen not coming on while on a call after removing the phone from my ear and this fixed my problem.

Nice! For future reference there is a way to turn it off on TW. It's under call settings > Turn off screen during calls.
