Hey guys,
My phones volume buttons, track pad, and touch screen all don't work.
First i thought it was a ROM problem. So, I flashed a rom using android commander. The rom installed fine and everything but the touch screen, volume buttons, and track pad still didn't work.
When i went into Hboot, it said touch panel: failed.
Is there any way to make the touch padel work again? Am i missing something?
Thanks for the help

As I said in your other post this is a hardware issue. There is no fix for this but to only send it back for replacement. I'd try and go stock before you send it so your warranty doesn't void. Hope this helps. And are you sure you have an espresso? I've never heard of recovery access with back button sequence for this phone.

Yes, I'm 100% positive its espresso...
Yeah, I went back to stock using android commander.
Touch screen, touch pad, and volume buttons still not working.
And I repeatedly get this message no matter what I do, even if not touching phone:
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Not sure what this means...
Guess my phone's really messed up now.
Any help would be appreciated.

That's a common fc since the touch panel doesn't work. As I said there is nothing left to do but replace the phone. Sorry bro its the hardware

Unfortunately he's correct. My my touch slide did the same thing it's a hardware issue.....I tried EVERYTHING before I finally had to send it in. T-Mobile said it was common and sent me a new (refurbished) phone. No fix bro sorry to break it to ya.

Nope. I told them what was wrong. They said its a hardware issue and they replaced it...plain and simple.

So I'm running beta 4 with new baseband, everything is working beautifully.. except... my hardware keys will just stop working quite often. I have to fiddle with all of the keys (volume, power, and hardware) and eventually they will start functioning again. I've completely wiped the phone, reflashed with SEUS, reinstalled beta 4 and the problem did not subside. I've also tried flashing the latest global generic rom and still no luck. Has anyone experienced this problem? Possibly a hardware fault?

I have the same problem... sometime even the screen wont respond... it happens with every rom or FW i use.
So it's not a software issue.

have you guys dropped your device in some liquid before?
No never, the phone has never been dropped in any way. I guess ill have to flash back to rogers firmware and take it in under warranty.

Ok, this is going to sound stupid, but does this happen when the phone is on some kind of car mount?
I had this happen to me, when I was placing my phone in a car mount, because it was gripped too tight! I guess the camera button was pressed and blocked all other buttons. When I was loosing the grips, it went back to normal. Weird...
Wow you just saved me so much trouble! I thought back to when this started happening and it was around the time I bought a new plastic case for it. It always seemed way too tight.... so I took the case off and it seems to have fixed it. Awesome, thanks for your help! PS love your theme work
Its been over 4 hours and all hardware key problems have vanished Ill be sure to thank you when I get to my computer (can't thank with xda app?)

LOL! I thought I took a long shot there,
but I am really very happy that I helped you!
sometimes my touch screen doesn't work and I need to lock the phone and unlock then works again.
is this software or hardware problem? If it is hardware, why I lock+unlock it works again?
but I have tried different ROMS, all have this problem.

it won't help. I tried full fipe many times.
Bump!
same thing happening to my Atrix. sometimes, even lock/unlock scenario is not working. I have to pull the battery. That's really annoying.
I tried the full wipe, it helped in some way, the frequency dropped but the problem is not completely gone.
Any idea to fix?
Is this issue happening to you guys on stock fw too?...

Sounds like you screwed up your pds partition while flashing a ROM. Just search this forum for pds partition fix and follow the instructions in that thread.

This is a known issue with the ota. It's been went over 100 times in the forum. I had the issue as well, until I went with CM7.

im on cm7 and mine stopped working 25 minutes ago
Bah, this happened to me aswell, it's a hardware problem with the digitizer. Download the app touch test and check for dead spots with it.
i have this problem too im on cm7 and i saved my pds back when i unlocked my bootloader and reflashing it does nothing. it will sometimes have no response when the screen is locked, it wont wake up the red led is lit, but just very dim battery pull is the only way to recover any ideas.
It's covered by the factory warranty, my phone is gonna be in the mail by friday I hope

I'm running into this same issue and I'm curious to know if it was a hassle from Motorola to get a replacement sent out.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Just make an account with MOTOROLA and go to GET HELP tab-->SERVICE MY PRODUCT--> and follow accordingly..
It should be covered under warranty
Mine is hopefully in the mail by Monday... YAY!!!
happened to me too. sent back to ATT was a bit nervous because I unlocked the bootloader, but lo and behold no issues (like always)
it got progressively worse, touch test showed the center wasn't responding, then more and more and more until I couldn't touch a thing (I had since switched to a backup)
got my replacement, all is well.
I did notice that this seemed to have happened after I started spending considerable amount of time playing the game "R-Type" obviously the app didn't do it, but it has touch controls that require you to keep your finger pressed on the center of the screen for a prolonged time, just food for thought.
This thread has made me happy
I'm going to contact the guy who sold me my Atrix on the marketplace and see if he will help me return it to Moto.
have the same problem, its very annoying. try going on to stock rom for about a week then switch back to what ever rom you want and then see what happens.
So I have not rooted.or tampered with my one yet. Noticed today that my home and back buttons don't light up.. I know they did yesterday when I got it. Did I accidentally turn them off somehow? Or should I go return? Any thoughts ladies and gents ?

Try covering the two little sensors on the top left of the phone and press the keys again to see if they light up. If they don't, then no bueno. If they do then success.
I had tried covering up the sensors and that didn't work..after 3 factory resets in bootloader they finally started working. All seems to be running fine now.

cool,. glad you got it working
Were they just not lighting up or bit working at all? I ask because there's another thread about the buttons not working at all from time to time so I'm curious if that will work for our issue as well? Don't want to factory reset if I don't have too

Hi XDA! Noob to the rooting world. I bought a used ebay phone that was "glitching." It was rooted so I downloaded MeanBean to fix. It doesn't glitch or spaz out as much but the top of the screen, the 1/2 inch of screen below the "HTC" emblem, doesn't respond to touch at all. The whole screen freezes at times too until I turn the phone off and on a few times.
It used to respond every once in a while before MeanBean and when in "Safe Mode." Now I have to turn the phone horizontal to pull down the notification bar. Is this a software or hardware problem and anyone know of any fixes for the glitching and screen issues? Thanks in advance!
It has DirtyRacun. It is S-off Hboot 1.19
It has TWRP installed.
Great phone, just wish I could use the whole screen!
Sounds like an issue with the digitizer, most likely. You can replace it yourself if you're up to it.
im not sure it is a hardware issue
the phone has started glitching again and the screen freezes until I reboot or shut the screen off and back on. It used to do it and it went away but now it is back.

Make sure your drivers are up to date. You can download and install HTC Sync to get the latest drivers. Also, boot into the bootloader and connect your phone to your PC to load some additional drivers.

So I loaded a new sense 5 ROM and Android 4.3. The top 2 mm of the screen was still unresponsive most of the time. I still couldn't pull down the notification bar unless I tilted the screen horizontally. I then ran VipeRUU and set the phone back to sense 4 and android 4.1. I am in the same spot now, unresponsive top 2mm of screen. Is this a digitizer issue or software issue? I'm stumped...
Sounds like a digitizer issue to me.

I dropped my phone today and the screen stopped working. But, somehow, the touch still works. I tested with a friend calling me and swiping right to answer the call. Can someone help me? Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks.
