[Q] How to reinstall Stock ROM on LG Optimus p765? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I have an Optimus L9, p765. I am currently running CM 10.2 (the one made for p760).
I want to reinstall the stock ROM. How can I do that? Is there a simple way to flash it like I flashed the CM zip file?
[By stock ROM I mean the official JB rom by LG. I have its kdz file with me.]
Thanks in advance!

If you want to go back to true stock, like when you purchase the phone then you will have to flash the kdz to the phone. Otherwise the only other option is to just flash a stock nandroid backup to the phone, but it will still have a custom recovery and root.

I flashed a custom nandroid backup from one of the links you mentioned at it worked. Thanks!

Hello Aravind,
What IS a Nandroid? It is a full backup of the partitions on your device’s NAND flash (NAND actually stands for NOT AND, which in simple terms means an electronic gate). Basically a backup of your phones hard drive if you will... The Nandroid backup is a snapshot of your device (it means everything on your phone – your apps, data, your current ROM and even the kernel is backed up) at the time you do the back up. If you restore the backup, it changes your phone BACK to that state. You will need clockworkmod (CWM). So make sure prior to this you have CWM on your device. (The above explanation is given by VECTUS)
Here is the link to Nandroid Backups Thread for L9. Download and extract Nandroid Backup of Stock Rom V20A Bhaarat (India) uploaded by me for our Indian L9 P765 to cwm backup folder and reboot to recovery restore this backup.
If you are having trouble in restoring it, then you can message me on my FB ID for an instant reply :good:

[Q] How can I backup/restore ENTIRE phone?

Hello.
I'd like to give MIUI a try, but, of course, I'd also like to switch back to my stock ROM if things go wrong or if I don't like MIUI.
How can I backup my entire phone (rooting, Recovery Mode capability and other on-power key-combination-activated features etc etc) and 100% failsafe restore it at any time?
Thanks in advance.
Rooted stock = do a nandroid (CWM) backup which is essentially an 'image' of the phone at the time you make the backup. Try MIUI; don't like it ? Restore the nandroid you took of your rooted stock setup. Sorted (You will need to ensure you backup the contents of your external SD card separately if you have one).
Be careful you don't 'overthink' this, it's really very simple both ways (backup/restore).
My Recovery Mode doesn't have a backup option

Thanks for prompt response. I took a look at current Recovery Mode menu and it doesn't include a backup/restore option like in http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery. It shows only the above:
Code:
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight;
power button to select.
reboot system now
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
test redbend fota[FS]

I've already downloaded Recovery from clockworkmod.com but didn't do anything with it yet.
Sorry if it has already been detailed in another thread, but I didn't find it and I don't know how to make such nandroid backup.
Thanks.
OBackup
I've just downloaded OBackup app from Play store and am doing my backup.
My question is: after I flash MIUI, what are the tools/steps I'll need to restore my backup?
Thank you very much.
That's the stock Android recovery.
OK...
What you need to do is not install CWM separately. That will only persist until you reboot & is designed to allow you to flash whatever rom/kernel you want which will have it's own version of CWM baked into the kernel.
That backup program you're using; no idea as I've never used it.
What I recommend you do is find a custom kernel you like (actually, any custom kernel will do given you're going to flash Miui) which will have CWM. Flash that into your stock setup, then make a nandroid (CWM) backup of your stock setup so you can go back to it if you don't like Miui/whatever else you try (If you restored this & wanted to go back completely stock/unrooted/etc, all you'd need to do is flash a stock kernel). This is what you asked for in your OP. I warned you not to start overcomplicating things, and this is exactly what you're doing.
The kernel supplied with Miui should have CWM, so if you find you don't like it, you should be able to simply restore the backup you made of your stock setup in CWRecovery.
I also very strongly recommend you learn 'the basics' as you seem to be lacking in this knowledge. Flashing stuff/etc without knowing these things leads to busted phones. Read the tutorials/guides stickied near the top of the General section; there's a wealth of information in those.

Hi and tnx for reply!
I've try to do a restore of my sock rom from recovery but it's says to me that there is an error on md5 check sum...
I've install the RootBox ROM in my gt-i9100...but I can't come back to sock from recovery because the stock kernel dosen't work with RootBox's Kernel...
so I've to use odin to flash the stock firmware.......at the origin, my idea didn't comprised use odin because of download mode counter (so that why I did a backup!)...but now I don't have any other way...!
...what a sad story.. XD

You can't restore your backup because of a different MD5 SUM which means that your backup has been corrupted.
Flashing a stock ROM or Kernel via ODIN will not increase your flash counter.
Flash NeatROM Lite, this is the best ROM ever, it like stock with additional things.

You can't flash a stock ROM from recovery by changing .tar.md5 to .zip .
You want to change ROM to Stock, use Mobile Odin to flash a Stock ROM or Flash NeatROM v4.8 Lite.

If I get your question right . you mean to say you want to backup and restore stock HOX+ recovery.
To backup the stock rom in that case you can follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551826
You just need to flash the recovery through the FASTBOOT .
You should of made a nandroid back up of the stock Rom what I do is make a nandroid of it before I put a custom Rom on... You need to get a nandroid of the stock Rom flash the boot.zip(kernel) 're lock the boot loader then run an ruu

2.Boot into Recovery mode
3.Select Backup and restore>Backup >hit Yes
Will it really restore my whole stock sense 5 rom after installing a custom rom..
Coz many of my friends say sometimes it doesnt seem to work..
First of all you say that your phone is not rooted and not Unclocked . In that case the the very first step would be Unlocking your device(unless you have S-OFF) and then ROOTING your device. There are numerous workarounds floating over xda on how to unlock and root your HOX+. Else you can also try "Kingo Onle Click Root", this just works fine on HOX+(enrc2b) having S-OFF.
Once Done you can Backup your Stock Recovery(Optional).
Here on you can go ahead and install a Custom Recovery(TWRP or CWM) and Do a Nandroid backup.

And yes a NandRoid Backup will restore pretty much everything . One thing you make sure that you should use the same RECOVERY for both backup and restore, since back up made with one of these recoveries is not compatible with the other.

well Yes I need to unlock and root my device first...
Now I am very much clear about custom recovery and nandroid backup..thanks to U!:good:
But I have another grave issue..
I really need ur opinion on that..
If I am not wrong A device with ext4 System format cannot flash or restore a backup with rfs system format...
Coz I encountered thisproblem a few days ago while trying to root my old device(My first root)..
so on my old device,I first rooted it,installed CWM,,made backup of stock rom(which was rfs)..flashed official CynogenMod(ext4)..And I was not able to restore my stock rom(gave an error while restoring System)..while I could restore a backup of the installed cynogenmod rom..
So will I be able to restore stock after installing CynogenMod on HOX+...
Curious to hear from U..
Well this is a queer issue .. though . Ofcourse you can restore your STOCK rom after installing CyanogenMod or any other ROM is that case. But one thing you should keep in mind is that the RECOVERY that you are using must be the same . That is if you take a Backup of your STOCK rom using TWRP in that case you need to use TWRP to restore this backup . same is applicable for ClockWorkMod. So just keep this in mind and happy flashing .

I'm still on stock I'd like to flash one of 4.4.2 ROMs. However, most of them have line in instructions that latest CWM is required. Since CF-Auto-Root does not contain it, I was wondering if anything can go wrong if I use that root method? Should I proceed with any other root method instead?

Hi,
You can use these steps to flash CWM or a recovery of your choice via Odin:

In addition, I personally prefer [i93xx][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch.

ASAP as far the threads here stipulate. I did 2 backups of my EFS the moment i got my SGS3. I was however, only able to accomplish this by first flashing a custom recovery. Once the custom recovery was installed, (I was and still am using Philz Touch) the first thing I did was backup my EFS folder.

Yep like oreo27 said before flashing any custom roms backup your EFS preferably while you are still on your original rom that your phone came with and make a couple of backups and keep copies on computer.
You will also find that some roms have options to backup your EFS before flashing that particular rom you can never have too many backups ...
