Spilled a glass of water from my bedside table on the phone, put the phone in rice for a day and everything is now fine except for bluetooth pairing. I have tried different ROMs but no dice, simply can't find any bluetooth device.
Is there any method to test the bluetooth module or back connections to troubleshoot? I also have a spare Evo LTE from a family member that's screen completely fried, and can harvest parts from if it's not ridiculously difficult.
Thanks
Not sure about the bluetooth, but the EVO 4G LTE is pretty easy to take apart. If no one can help you on the bluetooth, I'd swap the insides from the screen damage one and put it into yours. YouTube has a lot of videos showing you how. Here's a link that might help on the teardown:

Thanks, I was originally thinking that route too but the other phone is totally jacked from a hard life of lots of drops without a case; I can only hope that the internals are fine beyond the deathblow that was the screen...
You may want to try swapping just the sd card cover. That cover is where the antennas are. Since my 2 year old bent mine -slightly- I have to keep firm pressure on the cover to maintain bluetooth connections.

Amazing, you're right. If I apply pressure to the back cover Bluetooth functionality completely returns. Unfortunately it makes no difference with which backing I use (tried three), so the problem is with the connections on the phone. Is this a very common problem?

[Fix] I accidentally messed up my signal by pushing the little button on the lower right side of the battery. don't do this I could only achieve EDGE after, if that. so what I did is use a 4 inch copper wire and electrical tape. place one end of the copper wire in the little hole(it's a part of the antenna receiver group) and use a thin piece of electrical tape to tape it up the back side by the battery. now I have a better signal then before. I recommend not doing this if your signal is still working. Do not me if you mess it up, this should only be a fix if you need it.

Very interesting. Didn't know that. Don't worry, I won't try it.
lol, thanks now we knoe that we don't have to mess with that little hole....
could u upload some pictures???
Pics
Here are some pics. the red circle is the hole will the antenna receiver in it, in which i have inserted the copper wire. The orange line is an illustration of the copper wire and the green circle is the actual copper wire. you can see where i very shoddily taped it XD

Dudeeeeeeeeeee! I got this very late. Last week my phone went off without notice at all, so, trying to make it come back I pressed this litle thing thinking it was a kind of hardware reset switch... Anyways, my cell came to live after 3 days, at least accepting my ON command and showing low battery (this is another issue) but now the signal reception is real poor (only 2 bars -105 dBm 4 asu) and yes...now I know that I have screwed it... Let me try your approach with the cooper wire.
Thanks
Guys be VERY CAREFULL as that to me looks like a port for an external aerial. if you short the iner pin with the outer sheild you could do some real damage to your phones transmiters/recevers
Also another thing to take into consideration is that aerial are a certain length to what freqs they work at
ie the FM areial in your car is shorter than the AM aerial, and the digital one is shorter again.
There is so much theory behind aerials that it is not funny! (im a comms tech by trade)
Just PLEASE be carefull guys!

So did this help you or not? Screenshots?
Guys I am having the same problem of low signal at various locations. Pls do let me know if it is advisable for putting a jumper of copper wire as described.
Do I need to solder it with the hole ?
Will I loose my network permanently ?
Up to you
I would advise trying a different carrier or ask someone with the same phone/carrier how their signal is. I would only use these methods for emergencies like my situation, or like the other where he had next to no signal where he lived. As for soldering, i never thought of it, i revised my method, which i should post screen shots, by placing a larger wire in the hole and using a glue gun to hold it in place. I take no responsibility for antenna loss, because once you shove something in there, you won't have a signal unless something is in there. Good luck, i hope you figure out what's best for you and don't forget to post your results =D

Thx.. but same situation as yours the signal keeps fluctuationg n sometimes no signal so its kind no-no use sometimes or bad signal.
So I was thinking of putting a copper wire as suggested and checking it out.
As you mentioned like in near future if the wire breaks or think of removing it, I wont be able to get any signal in furture ..
Do you suggest replacing the antena & what would be its cost ?

Send it in, if it's under warranty . If it's just an old phone you have, and you still want to use it, by all means ty it out, i guarantee a better signal as long as you use a long enough wire. When i switched to a thicker one, i got a better signal, but the battery cover doesn't close all the way, but that doesn't matter since i use a case and i don't notice it.

Hia guys, something strange happened to me the other day..
I had some change of money in my pocket and when i i put my phone in the same pocket i
and i pulled it out some time later, my change was magically stuck to the back of my phone..
So i tried that again, and it seems that my loudspeaker of the phone is still magneticaly charged. I tried this with some other phones, including the iphone but no phone did the same..
This is kinda odd because as far i know phones arent allowd to do this.. what if i slide it on accident my pin or credit card allong its back.
I
Am i the only one w
Please give me some info on what to do next. Ill post a video later on.

Of course the speaker is magnetic, that's how it works. I didn't think it was that strong though.

the magnet on the speaker of the xperia s/p/u/sole/go is not covered, with materials that have magnetic permeability properties, and absorb magnetic field! becose they fownd a way to make it not interfere with the compass and other stuff and to make stronger the magnetic field detection!
so i think is not a problem since is not powerful enough to damage stuff like credit cards!
"found on goolge"
thankss guys
Thanjs for your replies! I was a bit nervous about this what i had a defect phone,
Thanks guys!
Hey.. i have the sony xperia s now for a few weeks. And i have to say, it has broken 2 of my credit cards!! Now i am searching for a new backcover to protect my cards from the phone -.-
I was amused when I pulled my XPS out of my pocket and had a bunch of coins stuck to the back of it
I'll make sure I don't keep it next to my cards from now on though!
If the Xperia S magnetic speaker can demagnetize and damage credit card, then it is really having strong magnet...
And the only advantage of having a mobile phone demagnetizer is when you are in date and don't want to pay the bills...

Well funny story really, i ride a motorbike to work and back each day and i have my phone in my jacket pocket as i use it as a mp3 player and listen to music while im riding, basically i was going down a private road at high speed and my music stopped i looked down felt my pockets and swore rather loudly. Turned around and after about 5 mins found the phone and its case, (still missing my sd card and battery,, it was about midnight) went back the following day and found the sd card and battery, unfortunately the screen was smashed and the lcd was also cracked it powered up but there was no picture, i have noticed after further examination that along the bottom of the handset on the back just above the charging port there is a crack in the plastic and a bit is missing and you can see two springed metal connectore, now whether these connect to the antenna for network or not i do not know, ive been googling non stop and the general idea seems to be imei problems??

Mobo could be damaged. Either that or the antenna is missing. The antennas are located on the right and top of the moon. It is exposed when you change the LCD. If you switched it yourself, check those connections. It's pretty easy to check it.
Right and top of the moon? Also the phone works perfectly if not faster than it used to wifi Bluetooth etc all works is the antenna with the wire that runs down the right anything to do with it ?

My girlfriend's Evo fell on the floor today. The left side of the Aluminium enclosure bent a fair bit outwards, so itnot connected with the glass on that side anymore. But that's all external damage we could find so far.
The thing is: Mobile network is gone completely. No Signal and the phone cannot connect at all.
Wifi still works. Does anyone here have enough knowledge about the Evo's internals to tell me if there's any hope with repairing the phone?

Sounds like there is an internal crack on the mainboard from the fall. Anything can be repaired but the fix would require replacing the mainboard or if you have insurace return phone to s-on stock and make a claim. If no insurance then another phone is your best option.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Thank you for your reply.
There's no insurance. I got insurance for my own Evo, but that's not the one that fell down, unfortunately
We just gave it another try and put my gf's sim card back in and now it works again . Yesterday, we also had mobile network back, but only for a brief moment.
We'll observe it. Probably there's a loose connection now.
Recently my wife upgraded her phone and I took over her old rezound to replace my own since her 4g switching was always better. Both are s-off and have 2.28 hboot with newest radios. Having 2 rebounds I figured I may set both up and test toms and switch back and forth. Problem is my original rezound doesn't get any 4g service now that I have played around with it. It's my original sim card I am switching back and forth and it works fine in my wife's phone.
I even ran a stock run and tested for 4g and still no go. New Rom then...and still no 4g. Is the phone broken or am I missing something here? This phone used to have 4g with this same sim card since it was my original phone and my sim.
A couple months ago I did replace the screen on this currently no 4g phone due to cracks. It worked great until I recently started switching the sim back and forth testing roms.
Thanks for any insight, John
If I remember right, you have to remove the radios to gain access to the LCD and digitizer assembly, if you didn't seat them right, that may be your problem. Over time the radio "plug" "fell" out of it's seat.
Or if the backing isn't on all the way, it would cause signal issues also. Try with her back plate on your phone.
Sent from my dlx using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the help. I did try her backing but it didn't help. I didn't realize there were radio plugs in there that might haven't loosened. I have some new screen adhesive tape I would like to put on anyways so I will attempt surgery again and look for loose ends.
Okay, I was thinking about another phone screen replacement I did a few months back and not the Rezound. The radio chip is part of the motherboard and has prongs that connect to the antenna on the backing plate. Maybe they are not connecting correctly.
When you get your phone apart to reapply the adhesive use some "QD electric cleaner" to clean the contacts. Don't worry, if you use that specific product, it will not damage the phone. It is designed to be sprayed on all electronic devices. The QD part means it has a chemical in it to "Quick Dry". Imagine it as a better form of rubbing alcohol.
Just be sure the battery is removed, it will still cause damage if there is current running through the phone. I used this cleaner directly on my old LG Spectrum's LCD during screen replacement (damn fingerprint, lol) and it worked great.
Sent from my dlx using xda app-developers app
I will try that and check the prongs. There were no loose connectors so I assumed it was broken.
