Help...Have 2 soff rezounds but no 4g on one - HTC Rezound

Recently my wife upgraded her phone and I took over her old rezound to replace my own since her 4g switching was always better. Both are s-off and have 2.28 hboot with newest radios. Having 2 rebounds I figured I may set both up and test toms and switch back and forth. Problem is my original rezound doesn't get any 4g service now that I have played around with it. It's my original sim card I am switching back and forth and it works fine in my wife's phone.
I even ran a stock run and tested for 4g and still no go. New Rom then...and still no 4g. Is the phone broken or am I missing something here? This phone used to have 4g with this same sim card since it was my original phone and my sim.
A couple months ago I did replace the screen on this currently no 4g phone due to cracks. It worked great until I recently started switching the sim back and forth testing roms.
Thanks for any insight, John

If I remember right, you have to remove the radios to gain access to the LCD and digitizer assembly, if you didn't seat them right, that may be your problem. Over time the radio "plug" "fell" out of it's seat.
Or if the backing isn't on all the way, it would cause signal issues also. Try with her back plate on your phone.

Thanks for the help. I did try her backing but it didn't help. I didn't realize there were radio plugs in there that might haven't loosened. I have some new screen adhesive tape I would like to put on anyways so I will attempt surgery again and look for loose ends.

Okay, I was thinking about another phone screen replacement I did a few months back and not the Rezound. The radio chip is part of the motherboard and has prongs that connect to the antenna on the backing plate. Maybe they are not connecting correctly.
When you get your phone apart to reapply the adhesive use some "QD electric cleaner" to clean the contacts. Don't worry, if you use that specific product, it will not damage the phone. It is designed to be sprayed on all electronic devices. The QD part means it has a chemical in it to "Quick Dry". Imagine it as a better form of rubbing alcohol.
Just be sure the battery is removed, it will still cause damage if there is current running through the phone. I used this cleaner directly on my old LG Spectrum's LCD during screen replacement (damn fingerprint, lol) and it worked great.

I will try that and check the prongs. There were no loose connectors so I assumed it was broken.

Wifi not working

Hi guys I have a problem I can't seem to solve I never use Wifi as I have no need for it because I'm on unl data but I needed it today for an app well my Wifi doesn't turn on at all it says error I'm not rooted and in rocking an extended battery cover

Have you not tried flashing anything whatsoever and are 100% Gingerbread stock? I saw you asking about the leaked ICS builds. The WiFi "error" message is common when flashing the kernel, have to do it twice to make sure it takes it.

If you are not rooted and 100% stock. then perhaps you set wifi incorrectly.

Very odd it would have those problems fully stock. Did you get it from an authorized seller or Verizon new, or did you get a CLN Verizon replacement or buy it secondhand from elsewhere? Could still be an issue with a bad flash by a previous owner if the latter holds true.
Well I was about to suggest running an .exe version of a Gingerbread RUU from this thread, which should correct any errors, but you'll need to back up all internal SD data and put it back on the phone memory due to wiping. And re-download all your apps and reconfigure all your customizations, etc.
And just to toss it out there, third party extended battery covers may have shoddy antennas or none at all. Suggested you check all connections against the stock backplate layout. Should still not wind up with a straight "error" message that way, though...
if the RUU tidying up the software don't fix it, that may just be straight hardware damage. Killed my WiFi and bluetooth on my iPod touch a while back with some liquid and got the same symptoms.

thanks for all the help I pretty much did everything here before making the thread I checked the cover saw the metal made sure everything clicked compared my extended battery cover to the regular cover but everything seemed the same, tried the extended battery and regular battery but same problem no wifi connection giving me an error it's already fixed I fixed it by upgrading to the ICS leak and now i can connect to wifi no problem I was started to think it was hardware wise from a drop or something but nope it was somehow software idk how it got messed up since I was 100% stock, well thanks once again for your help and I feel you on the ipod same thing happened to me after going snowboarding, I went to mamoth and I was snowboarding and I had my ipod on one of the gazillion pockets of my jacket when I got to the cabin I was tripping out of where I left my ipod (had barely bought it) so I was looking all over the cabin untill I stuck my hand inside my open pocket and there was my ipod with a bunch of Melted ice submerged on water my headphone jack got messed up so no matter the pair of headphones I couldn't hear from one side and wifi got messed up so I fixed the ipod at apple store and I stepped on it 2 months later breaking the screen I refixed it again, and one day I was messing around with my little sister and I was holding half her body over a swimming pool and to "rescue her" my other lil sis pushed me into the pool and my ipod got messed up again and the extra casulty was my OG droid may it RIP (tried to turn it on later after putting it on rice only for it burn and the screen get foggy) after that I said F this ish and never bought an ipod again :\ and I was stuck with a crappy black berry for like 3 months before getting the rezound... wow mini essay going on here...

HTC Evo3d Reboot/Shut Down issue after screen replacement

SO i've made a quick video of how easily the Evo3d will reboot/shut down on me. I purchased this phone the day it was released and worked amazingly until a few weeks ago when the screen would shut off (it would come right back on but still annoying) so Sprint replaces the screen for me and now this is what i'm stuck with!
http://youtu.be/V9_KV7ZCn9g
I know other people have had shut down problems and i'd be interested to see if theirs can be replicated as easily as mine.
(I always use a hard/rubberized case and took off for the video to show there is not even a scratch on the phone, nor any impact damage)
before i figured out how i could make it happen on my own, Sprint decided to replace it after a couple tries of "Fixing" it which meant just putting HBoot 1.5 and wiping the device. Should be in stock today for the switch!

i had the new radio update .1216 and that made my evo 3d reboot randomly
Well you slammed it to the table. What do you think it would happen? In the more serious note. My replacement kept rebooting and I could tell the screen was coming off. I would take it in to sprint if you have insurance.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
u didnt you didnt read my entire thread
it was hardly slammed, but i can bump it with the palm of my hand, it can slide off my car center counsel to the floor, not airborn but shuts down. It does it while mid call etc. This was just the way i could make it happed because before i got my replacement today, i had then "Check it out" which means wiping it 3 separate times. and it never once happened since it went on sale till the screen replacement a few weeks ago. I was showing buddies pictures, essentially no "G" shocks at all and it does it. I can wave it back and fourth and it does it. thank goodness i have a new one... though refurb and now i'm stuck with Hboot 1.5 and S-On so thats my next task!
I had the same problem with my aftermarket extended battery. The battery was placed too loose in the phone, and when you slam it the pins will disconnect and the phone will shut down.
You can fix this by jamming a piece of paper between the bottom of your battery and your battery compartment to keep pressure on the pins.
Can you try that and report if it helped?

New digitizer = screen wackness

So, after cracking my digitizer a few wks ago- I decided to drop the 65 bucks to have my digitizer professionally replaced. This is the first time I've ever had one replaced. Last few days I've noticed things like random screen unresponsiveness and capacative buttons not working until phone is put to sleep and woke back up. Do these seem like side effects of this being a botched repair job? At first I thought it was the rom I was on, but I switched back to sense, and now it's still doing it. Totally random, sometimes I can go hours without it screwing up.

sounds like its not getting a good enough ground and hence the spottyness. i would take it back to who did it for you and have them fix it.

I had similar issues on my Asus Transformer after I took it apart and put it back together. It ended up being simple: the ribbon cable going from the digitizer to the main board was seated slightly crooked, causing it to occasionally malfunction from either poor contact or shorting two neighboring pins every now and then. Re-seating the ribbon cable into the connector seemed to fix the issue.
It seems likely that whatever is causing your issue would be a similar connection problem between the digitizer and the board. It is also possible that the replacement digitizer is simply defective. Either way, sounds like you need to talk to the company that replaced it for you and see what they can do to fix it.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to them, and get this.. They're ordering me another rezound.. I guess it's such a PITA for him to take back apart, that he'd rather just eat the charge of a new phone (at least it better f'ing be new!).. Supposed to be in on weds.. Didn't I read somewhere that they were out of rezounds?

that was a temp thing for VZW returns. they have a bunch now. lol
So now that I know I'm going to have a new rezound tomorrow- I'm re-doing my homework on getting it unlocked/s-off.. The jbear instructions have d/l's for ics leak fw, do I really have to be on that leak, or does it work if I immediately ruu to the latest 4.03.605.2 and install a custom rom w/ root?

Phone fallen down - No Signal. Can it be repaired?

My girlfriend's Evo fell on the floor today. The left side of the Aluminium enclosure bent a fair bit outwards, so itnot connected with the glass on that side anymore. But that's all external damage we could find so far.
The thing is: Mobile network is gone completely. No Signal and the phone cannot connect at all.
Wifi still works. Does anyone here have enough knowledge about the Evo's internals to tell me if there's any hope with repairing the phone?

Sounds like there is an internal crack on the mainboard from the fall. Anything can be repaired but the fix would require replacing the mainboard or if you have insurace return phone to s-on stock and make a claim. If no insurance then another phone is your best option.

Thank you for your reply.
There's no insurance. I got insurance for my own Evo, but that's not the one that fell down, unfortunately
We just gave it another try and put my gf's sim card back in and now it works again . Yesterday, we also had mobile network back, but only for a brief moment.
We'll observe it. Probably there's a loose connection now.

Phone got slightly wet, bluetooth can't discover devices

Spilled a glass of water from my bedside table on the phone, put the phone in rice for a day and everything is now fine except for bluetooth pairing. I have tried different ROMs but no dice, simply can't find any bluetooth device.
Is there any method to test the bluetooth module or back connections to troubleshoot? I also have a spare Evo LTE from a family member that's screen completely fried, and can harvest parts from if it's not ridiculously difficult.
Thanks
Not sure about the bluetooth, but the EVO 4G LTE is pretty easy to take apart. If no one can help you on the bluetooth, I'd swap the insides from the screen damage one and put it into yours. YouTube has a lot of videos showing you how. Here's a link that might help on the teardown:

Thanks, I was originally thinking that route too but the other phone is totally jacked from a hard life of lots of drops without a case; I can only hope that the internals are fine beyond the deathblow that was the screen...
You may want to try swapping just the sd card cover. That cover is where the antennas are. Since my 2 year old bent mine -slightly- I have to keep firm pressure on the cover to maintain bluetooth connections.

Amazing, you're right. If I apply pressure to the back cover Bluetooth functionality completely returns. Unfortunately it makes no difference with which backing I use (tried three), so the problem is with the connections on the phone. Is this a very common problem?
