Lte fix for metropcs mega 6.3 - Samsung Galaxy Mega

Hello guys,
I have recently been trying different ROMs for my MetroPCS Mega and for the past couple of months I have not been able to get LTE to work.
BUT.....
I HAVE FOUND THE FIX!!
IT WAS SO SIMPLE!!
These are the APN Settings:
Name: MetroPCS
APN: fast.metropcs.com
MMSC: http://metropcs.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default, mms, supl <------ THIS IS IMPORTANT
APN Protocol: IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4

Okay.. Fine tips and tricks.. :fingers-crossed:

Cant change my apn protocol to IPv6

I don't understand. Is every Mega owner supposed to apply this fix? How do you do it, if so, please?
I have a Mega SGH-M819N (MetroPCS)

Didnt work for me.

You couldn't put those settings in? Or you could, but LTE isn't coming on ever for you?
No offense my friend, but you should be more descriptive. People won't guess.

Sry for the lack of info.
i got CM11 4.4.4 Custon ROM. and GAPPS 4.4.3
It came with the AP pre installed, all i had to change was from ipv4 to ipv6, it also have TMobile APs pre-isntalled, but no matter which i choose all i get is 3G or the H+ icon on top.
I've done a fell test with Speedtest app, and the most i get is about 1.8Mb download. with a full signal bars.
Im testing a few other ROMs, and different GAPPS. because I'm also trying to get "Cast Screen" working , so far it seems that works as long I dont update GoogleServices.
Ill let you know. Thank you.

Ok, yea, actually knowing which ROM you have is kinda important. <lol>
I'm on the Factory ROM and it takes the settings.
Sorry, but can't really help ya. And I haven't switched, because I don't want to lose "WiFi Calling" and stuff like that.

Few questions...
1. What does the connection show in settings. .about phone?
2. Have you tried editing build prop?

You can't get it until Google enable it for your phone, I don't know why they aren't, so you'll just have to use the older Google services version for now.

After searching alot and testing a bunch of stuff I finally found the solution.
Right now I'm using the This ROM with the provided GAPPS
Everything works fine so far.

STUMBLE ON THIS POST. have been trying to get on internet on phone, to no avail. Metro support was no help.
in case any gets to this post like I did. this setting worked for my Studio 5.0 HD LTE. I think the main setting thaat got it to work was setting the APN protocol to IPV6.
Thanks !!!!!!

[Q] (Q) Data connection is gone after firmware flashing - How to fix??

I'll try to make this post as short as possible while still including all the details. I own an unlocked samsung galaxy s 2 in the US and have ATT as my provider.
After flashing different ROMs and firmware (exynos, lite'ning, cognition and the chainfire version of my firmware to be exact), my data connection is gone. I wrestled with it yesterday to no avail, because in the end my "Mobile network state" is always disconnected. Today, however, I changed the apn settings to the old ATT "wap" settings and the internet was restored. The speeds were somewhat slow, but i didn't care so long as they remained functioning. About two hours later - the connection crapped out. Oh, and I should also mention - I got a new sim card from ATT today assuming that my issue was a messed up and card from flashing too many roms with it still inside. Needless to say, that didn't work.
So, I'm here now attempting all sorts of remedies with no luck. ATM I am on cog 5.1 with the "correct" apn settings found here on xda, which hasn't worked either.
Has anyone else has this issue of losing their data connection altogether (although keeping wifi)? Does anyone have suggestions that might bring the data back to life?
Thanks!

what correct* apn settings are you using?
I'm using "phone" for the APN and leaving the rest blank (with the exception of APN type, which is internet).
Just minutes ago I reset to default APNs one more time to see if it would work, but nothing. I'll try the wap.cingular APN now to see if it at least picks up some data.

If you are still ' Rom hunting' as such, it is always a good idea to use program like apn manager so you dont have to manually enter your settings after every flash.
As my provider has nearly every field full, it can be a very timely exercise every time you change roms - lets face it, it can take some time to find the one we love

Those settings, wherever they're from, WORK. I had memorized the other common one already, so as soon as I saw the differences in yours I knew it would work. Unfortunately, I (literally) couldn't thank you enough for it.
Is that apn yours personally or just dug up from elsewhere here on XDA? I'm hoping it stands the test of time and continues to work after tonight... The speeds are all over the place for some reason, but at this point it doesn't matter to me, I'm just glad I don't need a WIFI connection at all times.
Oh, and the APN manager is downloading as we speak - good call. I've followed DG's from when I had my captivate a while back, so I'm gonna continue testing Cognition out for a little longer. Maybe like another day - then back to flashing =)

[How To] Fix T-Mobile Tethering

Alright guys. Just an hour ago I received a message from T-Mobile saying that they blocked my tethering and that I had to pay for that. Screw that. I found a way to fix it.
Prerequisites:
Rooted Phone on GB / ICS
Data Plan
Wireless Tether For Root Users app, download it from here.
New APN (For T-Mobile USA users)
We will create an APN (also works with MMS). Go to Settings -> Mobile Network -> Access Point Names. Press the menu button and press New APN. Type the following.
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy:
Port:
Username: (leave this blank)
Password: (leave this blank)
Server: (leave this blank)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port:
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: (leave this blank)
Click to collapse
Press Save APN. After that, do the following.
1. Install the app.
2. Open WiFi Tether.
3. Press the Menu Button.
4. Click Settings.
5. Click "Change Device-Profile".
6. If you are on Gingerbread, choose your Actual Device!
6.1 If you are on Ice Cream Sandwich, choose "Generic ICS".
7. If you are on T-Mobile, Scroll down and MUST select "Routing Fix".
7.1 Depending on your Carrier, you may need to select Routing Fix.
8. Tether away! (Just don't go over your data!)

Didn't work for me. Even rebooted the laptop and phone. Tried USB and wireless both. Maybe I will google for "wap.voicetream.com/net" I remember years ago that worked... back when I used a Handspring Visor, LOL.
Don't know if it matters:
I have the "unlimited" 5G plan. I have a SGS4G phone, use Team Acid's ICBINB rom, and antonx's KJ6 kernel version 1.1.0. The phone is (of course) rooted.
Here are screenshots
I forgot to add that I usr wireless tether for root users. Not the built in hotspot.

I did have it selected when i set it up. Tried it again...its working now. Im using the stock mobile hotspot.
Thanks for the help
I double checked the setings from your screen shot. Mine are the same, still no go. Deleted browser cache (Chrome) and restarted browser (again). No go. Tried "wap.voicestream.com" and "internet2.voicestream.com" still no-go.
I am using the hotspoy app that came with the team acid icbinb rom, which I believe is stock SS or Android. I will look on the market for "wireless tether for root users and see if that helps".
Hasoon did you try leaving everything blank except mmsc and apn? That's my current apn set up, I can't confirm the hotspot since I have the 5GB data with free tethering.

I installed the Telus ICS update yesterday, put this in and for some reason, my data is connected, but it's like access isn't fully allowed, one minute it loads the page fine, then it suddenly says server unavailable, I tried the other thing I said and it works, I wanted to test the tethering with it though, since I as far as I can remember, my tmo apn settings had close to these settings.

Sorry, not exactly related to topic.
I was wondering, does 5GB data come with free tethering always or you were lucky to get it for free?
I have preferred Android plan.
Creating a whole new apn isnt necessary at all. This is already all over the forum =). All you ever have to do is delete everything out of the "apn type" field of the default apn like so -

Why go through all the trouble when this method takes a matter of seconds and works like a charm on every single Rom I've ever tested it on? =)

Actually you are mistaken. Currently speaking, tethering comes automatically with the 5 or 10 gig options.
If you think t mobile pricing is unreasonable, you should try having service with Verizon, or any carrier not t mobile for that matter he he he =)
That's weird. It's worked for me on 6 different roms, and also worked for BOTH of my co workers on completely stock Amaze's. I think something may have been missed, but since your current method works I guess there's no point in figuring that out I guess =)

I can explain the "REQ Pref Android Web". There were 2 types Android data plans. (Now they just call it smartphone web or something like) One Req and an Android web. If you bought a phone on contract or did an upgrade, they added the Required data so you can't remove it. If you brought a phone in and wanted to activate or bought the phone outright, you are not required to keep the data and can remove it whenever.
It doesn't relate to the question, but just wanted to throw that out there lol.

I got it.
I was explained verbally, I have unlimited plan throttled down after 5GB.
It's not the same as 5GB plan, probably.
I can see on TMO forums, people are talking about:
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/25504?start=15&tstart=0
Only the $14.99 tethering plan and the very recent amendments to the 5GB and 10GB plans have explicitly allowed use.
To AndroidAutobot:
I was wondering, do you see tethering is included in your services list on myTmobile?

[Q] LTE on Ting

Hey guys! Just activated my evo on Ting about a week ago and LTE doesn't seem to work on any AOSP roms.
It connects fine on Sense and speeds are great. On Pac (my primary) it just doesn't connect; under status in settings it does say LTE for the network, but it says disconnected.
Calls/texts work fine though, and if I switch to CDMA/EvDo, 3G works fine as well. I've tried updating profile/PRL in sense then going back to AOSP multiple times, but to no avail.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks!
I have an idea...stop using AOSP.
But seriously, you could try installing the firmware again. See how that might help.

Saw that. But the post says not to flash the touch panel zip on AOSP roms cause it'll cause the screen to be unresponsive...
"If you plan on using an older base ROM, an AOSP ROM, or older version of recovery, then you should NOT install the below standalone file (as it will cause your touch screen to be unresponsive)."
Ting APN
Not sure if you still need this, but you have to update the APN info for LTE to work.
In AOSP rom, go to voice dialer and say "Open APNs". Next, open the LTE internet APN. Update the APN value to n.t8.ispsn. Press menu > commit modifications. Do the same thing for EHRPD internet APN. This should activate LTE for you.
Dammit guys, it's happening again. After the intermittent data drops on CM11, LTE just stopped working. The icon shows, but nothing connects. 3G works fine. Tried reflashing different roms, and LTE only works on Sense. Tried flashing various different Ting APNs which usually works, but nothing. Manually edited APNs, nothing. Updated PRL and Profile, nothing. I don't use much mobile data but this is really frustrating.

No, unfortunately. I ended up switching to the Nexus 5 on TM shortly after. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you use a lot or end up on L or XL on Ting.

I had working LTE for a while on AICP, but then it stopped working after installing another rom and I couldn't get it back. However fizbanrapper's post in the liquidsmooth thread got LTE working again for me on Ting, seems to have the correct APN settings and it works flawlessly. I'm on Liquidsmooth but I assume it will work on other AOSP roms as well.

Awesome. Glad it worked for you. Did you just have to do step A, or did you have to use the rewritten apns-conf?
If the apns file was a necessary step, I'll put in a little more effort and make it a standalone flashable zip file.

To get LTE working on Ting AOSP 4.4+ HTC EVO 4G LTE
If the above does not fit your situation 100%, read no further or your device will get more bugs than Miley Cyrus's....
Even if the above fits you 100%, try this at your own risk. I'm by no means an advanced user and certainly wouldn't call myself a developer.
A. The APN menu
Download & install the Google Gesture Search app from the Play Store. Open it, say yes to the defaults and wait the 20 seconds it takes to index your system. Once all of that is done, use your finger to draw "A", "P", "N" on the screen. This will bring up a list of search results. Choose APNs settings. If there is a list of APN's already there, one of them says something about LTE internet. You can modify the existing values to match those shown below. Otherwise, in the APNs screen, hit the plus to add a new APN. Give it the following values:
Name: LTE
APN: n.t8.ispsn
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.plspictures.com
MMS proxy: 68.28.31.7
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default, mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: None
Save the APN. Touch the radio button to the right of the APN to select it. Hit the home button. Cycle airplane mode. You should be able to connect now. I think this alone will get your LTE working, but...
B. If you're not connecting yet:
You might want to play around with some of these settings. The APN protocols can probably just as easily be IPv4v6 instead, but it defaulted to v4, so that's where I left it and I'm not messing with it now. Also when I first connected, I had the MMSC set to http://mms.sprintpcs.com and changed it to plspictures later. I doubt that was important, but like I said already, I'm in over my head here. It's entirely possible that when LTE goes to connect for the first time, that it gets pissed if it doesn't see sprintpcs in that URL. I don't know...
If there were APNs already listed when you performed step A, but LTE doesn't work yet, modify all instances of n.ispsn to ad the t8 in n.t8.ispsn. Also if you show pamsn, modify it to show t8.pamsn. These are all correct values for Ting.
There shouldn't be a need to do this, but you could also try setting your MCC to "310" and your MNC to "00". I haven't personally tried that MCC or MNC, but I've seen those values for Ting elsewhere. If you're still having trouble change the MCC and MNC back , then proceed to step C.
C. If you're still not connected:
Attached is the Ting APN zip file you can flash to help restore Ting LTE. Note that if you perform this step, you will most likely have to go back and redo step A before LTE will work, though you might not if you're adventurous and want to take a risk and flash the zip after first boot. Either way, make a nandroid backup before flashing this.
It should be flashed after the ROM & kernel, but prior to first boot (though it could still work even when flashed after first boot). This overwrites the existing apn-conf.xml file.
D. Last resort:
Ok, if you haven't made a nandroid yet, you really really need to do so now. This works with some ROMs, but causes others to bootloop (even if you follow all of the instructions exactly) and essentially does the same thing as step A but is a bit more forceful about it.
This should only be flashed after first boot. Additionally you want to go through steps C and A before this step will work. This flash overwrites the data file you populated from step A.
Going through step A is still necessary because some additional files get changed when you access the APN settings menu and when you save a new APN. Most ROMs use those additional files to call BS and either bootloop or throw enough system errors to force you to restore the nandroid that you wisely made as was suggested several times before.
Those additional files work differently from ROM to ROM, so I can't make a zip file that works nicely with all ROMs. Or at least I haven't figured it out yet, anyway.
Took a few tries, but the "Last Resort" fix worked for me. Thanks!
I had success with the zip from Step C on CM11 (ocarinaz's build from 6/4 with the 5/8 boot.img).
I've been satisfied with the ROM so I haven't experimented further yet. Will definitely share any findings in this thread if I get the urge for a new ROM.
Thanks for the awesome work on this!!

This appears to work on my s3 as well. Did a nandroid backup just to be on the safe side but, it worked. I wonder why cyanogenmod has decided to hide the apn settings in cm 11?

I rooted my fathers Ting Evo 4g LTE, went through the Dev unlock and rumrunner S-off etc and put the latest cm11 nightly (from the cm download page) on his phone and I could not get data to work at all. So I looked around and found several places like this that said it had to do with the APNs and so I added manually the APN listed and still nothing. it would send sms and phone calls but no data, it wouldn't even say 1X, 3G, or LTE above the signal bars. I moved onto step B, nothing. Step C and flashed the zip file, nothing. And still nothing with the last resort zip. The closest I got was when the 3G symbol appeared above the signal bar but it simply would not connect to the internet. In the quick settings dropdown the signal bars remained orange and there were no up/down indicators at all.
I tried different zips from the Ting forums and some from the Optimus G forums, wiping and reflashing CM11 often to make sure the zips weren't conflicting, and still absolutely nothing! I am really at a loss here. I had to go through and run the JB 4.1 RUU and immediately 3G was working again and everything. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

[Q] Help with Tmobile APN for MMS

I've been researching almost all night, on these forums and others. Wife's DNA cannot send or receive MMS. internet works fine. I've tried switching the apn to epc.tmobile.com or fast.t-mobile.com, and mmsc of mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc or http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms....nothing seems to work. also quite frankly overall internet seems faster on epc.tmobile.com but not sure (we are in Iowa where we get the refarmed hspa+, but no true LTE yet).
any help on mms apn? running stock rooted 4.2.2 that came out just a few weeks ago...

i'll give it a try, but i'm not sure that will work. i've tried everything. Question though: is it 'fast.tmobile.com' or 'fast.t-mobile.com'? I've seen both but not sure if the syntax matters. also, for your mmsc....does it end with "wape" or should it be "wapenc"? I've never seen 'wape' before....
also i do not see the apn protocol before...not sure if that's in a different section in settings.
thanks again, i'll give it a shot tonight after work.

you're using cell data to send mms right, it wont work over wifi, sorry if this is something you already know
do you have any other apn's? delete them. make sure its only the one, there is a lot of small things it could be.

Possible to get Sprint LTE on AOSP Roms?

I am currently running a V30+ on Sprint's network using the latest Resurrection Remix build. No matter what I do, I cannot manage to get LTE working. Sprint's LTE Internet APN selected and for network typed, I have CDMA + LTE/EvDo. I tried selecting only LTE, but I would not get any service even after reboots.
I've also tried the following steps:
1.) Flash AOSP ROM and make a backup
2.) Go back to Sprint Stock Rom
3.) Go through the setup process and wait until phone is connected and LTE is working.
4.) Restore AOSP backup
And still no LTE. What else can I do? Flash modem or would I have to edit build.prop?
Yes, it's very possible. I've gotten it working on the Aosip unofficial before. What made the LTE work for me was replacing the rom's modem with Sprint's official modem for the V30.

I will try that right now!
EDIT: It did not work. When I switch to LTE under network mode it gets stuck on searching for service.

You have to enter your carrier's APN settings manually.

I actually couldn't get lte as well until I tried the latest versions of lineage and now I'm on dotos. Just changed the apn settings and everything is working great. Took a few minutes after initial install was only getting 3g but after a couple of messages and a phone call lte started to work.

Question, did you flash Lineage and waited until you got LTE and then dirty flashed DotOS? Or did you do a clean install of DotOS?
Also, what do you have selected as Preferred Network Type?
EDIT: Ignore those questions, all is working perfectly fine! Thank you so much, just had to edit the APN's. I believe I was using old ones and that's why I wasn't getting LTE! Thank you so much!
Anyone have working mms? I have lte but I am noticing I am unable to receive/send mms (it tries to do received mms messages but it fails to download, and I am unable to send any out)

Delete the MMS proxy and port from APN. It should show "not set" for MMS port and proxies after. Also change network from "global" to "CDMA/LTE evdo". Hope this helps
Edit: Look a few post above yours the APN should look exactly like that

Ah yeah it was the mms proxy and port causing an issue; removed those and was able to send an mms just fine, thanks!
So do you have to flash the Sprint modem or will just editing the APN's do the trick?
I'm just looking for a rom with working LTE and wifi tethering working, any suggestions?

Depends on the ROM. Most AOSP you just have to edit APN's. Depending on the stock ROM, you will need to flash modem and then edit APN's.

Any specific rom you can recommend? Every AOSP rom I've tried doesn't let me add dun. I'm back on stock now have it working, but still not as good as when I was on my pixel. For example, Netflix won't work on my TV and it won't let me chromecast it from my phone. Which kinda sucks. YouTube casts fine. I've kinda accepted it, but it would be nice to have it working.

I have never used dun or any casting tools/software. I'm currently running the EXTENDED AOSP ROM. Running buttery smooth and with no problems.

I just flashed the latest LOS 16 build but I am unable to edit apn's Anyone got Sprint LTE working on LOS16?
I cant get any pie lineage based room to get LTE. Can't even edit APN's
If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it. There is some Sprint specific bits not included with our Los base that other devices LOS 16 have like the sprint.dm apk.
But at a minimum we should be able to set the proper apns

Same thing been happening to me recently, is this something up with Sprint's end? IDK I asked about this happening a month ago and no one really seemed to have answers on the lgv30 chat. I can get APN settings to show up by removing the SIM card. and editing them then but even then my settings don't stick across reboots. I can usually get messaging to work by calling myself but that also doesn't stick.
