I'm loving this bad boy so far. The size is absolutely perfect and fits in my hand like a glove.
Physical/ Build Quality
It actually looks and feels more like the OG Inc then the Inc2. Slightly narrower then the Inc2 but a tad longer and has the same red highlighted speaker above the screen as the OG Inc. It also feels lighter then the Inc2 and, it feels more solid than any HTC to date. The back battery cover doesn't make that annoying squeak and fits tightly . :good:
Camera
Although this doesn't have the same imaging software as the ONE series, it takes pictures amazingly fast. Click, click, click -one right after another.
Beats Audio
Gimmick or not, Music sounds noticeably better on this device than on the Inc2. I'm playing the same FLAC HD files off the same SD card.
Cons
Looks like they did away with the FriendStream widget ?! There's a Twitter HTC widget but no HTC widget for Facebook. Only the totally lame FaceBook widget that comes with the FaceBook app. I like having the Twitter and Facebook feeds combined in the FriendStream widget. Bummer . . .
Price
I paid $106.99 (including tax) for the device as a "Buddy Upgrade" on my company's business account. They applied the $50 rebate directly to the purchase.
I haven't gotten one yet but I'm pissed that, at least according to the website, the phone isn't global ready. WTF?? The DINC 2 was global ready right? And this chip supposedly has GSM capabilities built in. So why not make it global ready from day one?
Verizon is getting on my last nerve...first they pass on the One series and put out this phone with inferior specs, then they jerk everyone around waiting for the release so they can screw us on the plan, then they don't make it global ready when the hardware clearly supports it. I don't get it. I'm going the europe next month and was looking forward to using the phone over there.
Verzion already has said they will send out a software update to make it globally complient in very near future. It has the hardware to support it inside of it.
Yeah, I didn't buy one either for the above reason. They told me in the store today it wasn't gsm capable at the moment.

LOL...with Verizon the very near future could be a year from now.
And by the way, is it just a coincidence that they send out this OTA to the original DINC that is throwing everyone's phone into a constant reboot loop a week before the new DINC 4G comes out? The timing is a little suspicious. I get the stupid notification like every half hour, hoping the thing will eventually just go away.

I picked up one this morning to replace my galaxy nexus. (By the way, does anyone want a nexus)
So far I love it. I wanted a 4g phone that wasn't as big as a surf board. I don't need a huge screen as I will never watch TV or anything on it so this is perfect.

Did anyone try the back door method the rezound has? This is one of the features I was wanting as well. Here is how the Rezound works.
(*#*#4636#*#* in dialer, then phone information) there is a option for "Global Mode" and ones for "WCDMA Only" and "GSM Only"

So that's all it takes to turn on global mode? Do you have to be rooted?
I think you have to pre-pay for data from verizon before you go right? Like $25/100 mb. So they wouldn't care that you went in and turned on global mode yourself?

Was a longtime user of several phones, including Dinc2, and Rezound.
Picked up the 4g lte today, and I gotta say from the limited time I have with it, I am enjoying it. The biggest plus so far is the nice sharp screen. In fact, I like it more than the rezound's 720 p screen because this one is NOT scaled, so everything looks nice and crisp, and the fonts aren't too big.
Sense 4 on this phone seems pretty snappy and smooth, minimal if any lag on certain scrolls, but they are rare. Haven't made phone calls yet. 4g (here in LA county) is variable in terms of speed... from 300 KB/sec to 1.1 MB/sec. I think that is maybe more related to network congestion.
Form factor of the phone is basically the same as the Dinc2, which is a good thing, but I find this one to be easier to hold in my hands, with softer edges. Also, buttons are easier to press than the Dinc2, which is a plus. Battery door easy to open, and doesn't have flex/creaking. Another nice feature is that the SIM tray and SD card tray are both on the side of the phone, so you don't have to remove the battery to access anything, only the back cover.
All in all, I am pleased so far. Hope to continue the enjoyment, and hopefully will see some nice interest in this phone. Only question remaining is whether the bootloader will be unlocked (either by HTCdev, or otherwise). Honestly, though, Sense 4 on this phone is pretty snappy and quick, so I can overlook this even if we don't get AOSP. But nothing wrong with more options, of course, thanks to any and all devs who know how to cook roms, because I sure don't know how to.
Thanks for reading!

I understand that you initial posters have your shiny, new phone that you paid for, so please don't flame me for offering what the OP suggested, ie: initial thoughts.
I used the phone briefly in the Verizon store today. I have lots of experience with Sense, having used and rooted both a Droid Incredible and an HTC Rezound. That said, I should state that my bias leans toward Senseless and ASOP roms.
Compared to my Rezound running ConRom, I found the Incredible 4G on Sense 4 to be laggy when it came to screen transitions, ie: opening/closing the market, updating apps, transitioning between Sense home screens, etc. I'm not one of those "The Rezound is the best Android phone out" guys either. I was honestly hoping that this phone would be a significant upgrade over the Rezound. If I still had the ability to keep unlimited data and burn my existing upgrade, my choice would still be either the Rezound or the Galaxy Nexus.
I am envious of the Incredible 4G due to it's form-factor. It's feels great in the hand, light but not too light, and has the same nice rubberized-texture that the Inc 2 and Rezound have.

I wasn't running ComRom on my Rezound but so far my experience has been the exact opposite. The Incdreble 4G has had no lag like the Rezound does. Plus, Sense 4 runs circles around the Rezounds version of Sense.
Besides, It's hardly a fair comparison to pit a custom ROM against stock anything.

Global mode is something different. What I am talking about is buying a prepaid sim overseas or using it with t-mobile/att&t. The command doesn't work because Verizon disabled it but if you download the Thunderbolt LTE on/off app in the play store you can change it to GSM only. The options are there so the phone is capable like everyone said. I just got back from receiving the phone and the app works in switching to 3G. The sim for this phone is now a micro-sim so for someone to test they would need to trim a regular sim and put it in. This settings works for voice only. To send SMS and MMS, we need a dev to fix the ROM. That's how they did it with the Rezound. Or we wait for Verizon to enable all the functionality.
So far I am liking the phone. It's more like the original incredible than the incredible 2.

Not surprised at all, they will continue to have excuses and when it does come out it will be the only update we shall see. Glad I like the phone for what it is and am not too worried on the jelly bean switchover...I just want a smooth "bugless" phone which for the most part it is.

this is why I sent it back even though I loved the phone. there was no reason why the phone should have been released with ICS in the first place. its a beautiful phone but battery was a no no. plus jelly bean should come. by that time key lime pie will be the new kid on the block in the months to come. and I highly doubt LGOG would ever get that. Your loss. Considering how well it runs ICS and how little you actually gain with Jellybean, it's not like the phone is somehow inferior without the update. Let's look at what you get:
1) Project Butter - which will make almost no noticeable difference in the way the phone runs
2) Improved notifications - Good
3) Google Now - excellent
That's it, really. Of those, Google Now is the only "must have" for me and I can wait a few months. The phone runs great as is and has lots of excellent customizations by LG that actually make it a better phone than it would be stock. I'm more concerned that they will introduce bugs or remove features with the JB update than anything.
I'm not sure what your issue was with battery, either. Mine has been great.

You don't even have to wait for Google Now if you're willing to flash a ROM that has it. Sure, it's not the latest and greatest version of it, but it works perfectly well

His loss indeed. The way this phone runs out of the box beats any other devices stock to stock. Rooted and debloated it's even better. JB isn't the giant leap that some people are making it out to be imo. I have no problem waiting myself. If I wanted it now I'd flash the Korean port.

Exactly! My worry also - that it will mess something up with a JB update. The phone (for me) is perfect as is & I love it & don't want anything to mess it up. I am getting excellent battery life & for me that can't be improved because the battery life is phenominal for me. In short, the LGOG E970 AT&T version is THE phone for me & I love it & don't want anything to change. If JB comes, I will wait anyway before updating just to make sure that there weren't any problems caused by the update.
why does everyone get so touchy when someone says they returned the LGOG. I was just stating my opinion that's all. I don't know what my deal with battery was either. I could actually sit there while using it and watch it drain. even after conditioning. this was with a complete restore as well. sometimes dropping almost 10% in an hour with hardly doing anything with it. amazon didn't have any left in stock at the time of the return so I opted for a refund. not saying not having jelly bean is the reason for returning it. all I am saying is this phone should have shipped with it. there was no reason not too period. it will prob get it. but I wouldn't hold my breath after that. especially after the pro is released. just my 2 cents

Agree 100%.
Sadly, a lot of everyday users probably have no idea Google maps has navigation, and since I don't think it is stock installed on at&t devices, they never see it.
I had to tell my techchallenged aunt not to use any at&t crap on her phone.
6 months later she got an iPhone and a hotspot plan so she could wirelessly teather after her router acted up.
I had to facepalm because I could have gotten her free teathering on her Android phone.
Slightly related, does anybody know if there is an unlimited dataplan with the hotspot plan? She was adamant she had unlimited even though my understanding is 5 gigs is as high as you can go on a single plan.

I upgraded to Kit Kat and I see nothing new, but alot more restriction on many things. Even the 3G icons is ugly. Everything at the notification bar is now white color. The battery meter is white, the 3G icon upload and download arrow is white. EVERYTHING in the notification is white!
My Hotspot is not working until someone figure something out. (thank you in advance for your time and effort)

I like KitKat so far
If you are rooted, I was informed that WiFi Tether Router by Fabio Grasso ($1.95) may help with tethering. There are few people per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50826678&highlight=tether#post50826678 that have mentioned it works, although I am not currently using it because I do not have a device i need to tether too consistently.
My battery on KitKat is the same if not better and for some reason I believe I now have more RAM available for actual use. I thought I previously had like 2.4 and no it's like 2.7, but I'm a Noob and could be all off on that. Anyway, I love the full album art and access to notification (using AcDisplay for notifications). Just wish sammy wouldn't interfere with cool stuff like the google dialer (although I think only nexus devices got this).
EDIT: I forgot to mention this is for Keeping Knox counter at 0. I have not tripped it yet and am not currently willing to.
If you want hot spot back and a all around faster rom since updating to kitkat I strongly advise checking this out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2671779
[ROM|NABD|KitKat|4.4.2] Galaxy Note fre3 Hybrid De[Odex] v2.0beta -BeastMode Kernel-
This has wifi hot spot enabled and a whole plethora of goodies already working. If you feel the kitkat update was for nothing try this rom then might convince you otherwise.
If you just want wifi tether Then just as he said just buy wifi tether router it works great. I bought it and can vouche for it. I was in the same boat my friend thinking it was a crappy pointless update but have been seeing a bit more change for the better with this new rom.

I'll give you one major benefit that I've noticed only on KitKat.
When on Jellybean, if I wanted to push a single apk, even something as simple as calculator from a different rom onto mine, even when it was the same app for the same phone and build, I'd inevitably get a force close if not first clearing app data and cache.
Not so with KitKat. If an app successfully can be swapped or not, one needn't rule out the possibility that clearing app data and cache was the culprit. It'll either work or not work.
With Jellybean, one could get a force close even if complete compatibility exsited, if the app wasn't first cleared in app manager.
You can see what a significant improvement, for developers, testers and hobbyists.

i have a zte grand x max+ now but who knows itf it will ever get root, so on this phone how is speaker quality is it loud?and the screen is it bright? and is the phone fluid opening and closing apps etc, after you root it to do some tweaks? thanks
as near as i can tell this would be superior to my Zte Grand x max+, they seem to be same both 720p display, same cpu&gpu, but the things that seem to me off hand would make it better is cpu is 1.2 on my Zte, and 1.6 on this, and this is rootable, but im still looking for opinions from owners of this phone
Phone is amazing. I am rooted with a bunch of xposed modules installed. No issues at all. Fast and smooth operation, and network speeds on MetroPCS are super-fast. I was skeptical about getting this phone, but I am super happy with it. Of course, the battery life is just insane. I don't use the speakerphone much, but when I do, it is plenty loud for me. The screen is beautiful as well. You can always get it from Amazon, they have a great return policy.
I second the suggestion of buying this from Amazon. That's what I did and my 30 day return window is almost up. But I am keeping this phone. I am also rooted and have Nova installed as well. The battery life just blows your mind. I do one long charge on the weekend and that's it. Maybe ten or twenty minutes charges once in a while.
Does it get pretty good cell signal? I'm looking to replace a Galaxy Note 2, which I recently dropped and busted. :crying:
I've been a Samsung user for a few years, but my Note 2 got crappy cell signal compared to the S3 that I replaced (on AT&T, btw, same number and sim card). I was looking at a used Note 4, but don't really feel like dishing out >$500 on a decent used one, and you still can't root the AT&T/Verizon versions, as far as I know. I know you can root the T-Mobile version, but still not too interested in spending the big bucks.
This one's been getting pretty decent reviews for a mid-tier phone, and I'm a fan of big screens (I like to read/watch videos a lot). This one looks like it would fit the bill. I think I just read that Huawei is going to release Android L (Lollipop?) some time in the first half of this year, so that's a plus.

Well, that gives me hope. I'm pretty sure my signal problems at home were phone related. Got decent signal on AT&T with my Galaxy S3 (which I still have), but when I switched to a Note 2, signal went down the toilet. And I would lose signal with regularity in any big box store (Walmart, Target, etc).
Anyway, ordered! I'm hoping some custom roms become available; I'm used to the plethora of choices available for the Samsung phones, hope I can play around with this one a bit.

Love it! I'm in school full-time and I don't have time to worry about the battery percentage, bringing chargers, finding outlets, etc. I need a phone that does everything I ask of it and lasts long as well. As for the specs, yes they aren't great, but it's still snappy and responsive. Almost on par with my sister's Nexus 5. Occasionally there are dropped frames or app crashes, but that's sadly typical of Android. Sometimes I get a bit annoyed with the size of the phone but that only happens when I wear slim or skinny jeans. No, I'm not worried about bending it!
The only real problem I have is with the software. Like I said, I just need a phone that works, and it does, but EMUI doesn't look nice. I could deal with it but the dreams of getting CM11 or CM12 on this make me a bit impatient.

We have a dev working on CM11 AND CM12, but he's been busy with work (*cough* Cyanogen) so there hasn't been progress lately. Also, thanks for reminding me about those big stores. I forgot, I DO lose signal in places like BJ's. I always thought it was because of the building itself though.

It is the building, also - those buildings have a lot of infrastructure between your phone and the cell towers, but some phones have better antennas than others. For example, my wife has an iPhone 5, and she gets a signal in them, while I'm staring at a crossed out circle for my signal indicator. And I don't remember completely losing signal with my S3 as I did with my Note 2, although I would lose a bar or two. I'm back using my S3 right now, since my Note 2 went tits up - I'll check it out next time I'm out and about.

The only real problem I have is with the software. Like I said, I just need a phone that works, and it does, but EMUI doesn't look nice. I could deal with it but the dreams of getting CM11 or CM12 on this make me a bit impatient.

Yeah, the UI is the main thing that had me hesitating. All of the reviews I've read about it list it as a negative - I know I can always install a different launcher, but those sometimes come with their own problems. I think the Android L release is supposed come with the 3.0 version of the UI. I haven't read much about it yet, but I'm hoping it's better than the current version. And, of course, I'll be a happy camper when CM11 or CM12 is released! Not too concerned about it in the interim, though, as I don't tend to get too crazy with the UI customizations.

Yeah, it's been done. Try the links below - just be sure to make a nandroid backup of your stock rom before making any changes...Android L is supposed be released sometime in the next few months. Pretty sure you'll need the stock rom for OTA.

No, just ordered one a couple of days ago from Ebay - should arrive this week sometime. I wanted something with a large screen, but wasn't interested in paying >$500 for a used Galaxy Note 4. The price point on this is great, and has a lot of decent features. I was looking at the OnePlus One, but it doesn't have expandable memory, something that's a must-have for me.
BTW, you'll probably need ADB and Fastboot - check out the link below:

The ascend mate is good in all aspects, the only time service gets choppy is in Walmarts

you like the phone? have you rooted yet?
Coming from an S3 S4 S5 and ready for a new flavor. Been reading here all day after seeing the Z3 last night.
Anything else I need to know coming from Sami.
App to SD does not work but is implemented in lollipop. I wasn't initially aware of that when I first got mine. I love mine ditched the Note4 for it.
Thanks for responding, Gonna see what VZW store around here has them tomorrow

You're going to love the battery life. Also, you might like the minimalistic touch of Sony for Android UI, depending on your tastes.
Last thing is, simultaneous voice and data won't come until lollipop, which is still pretty soon I'm feeling. Not a big hassle if you're connected to Wi-Fi most of the time.

don't buy the verizon version if you are about customizing it
you see there is no development for it at all so far,
z3 standart versions have a little development already
My devel days are behind me, I dont have the time to keep up with the changes any more so the VZ version will do
The best time is to get it now since Verizon is selling it awfully low for. 99 cents on a new contract. Ever since moving onto this phone, I have no big desire as before to Dev this since everything is near perfect.
And for some reason, T-Mobile discontinued selling the Z3 today...
Wonder why Tmo dropped it, is it cause the z4 is coming out?
Oh no.... next version regret syndrome before I even buy

it's funny how people think about z4, that's in my opinion (even if i had the money) a bit weird, since the z3 isn't that old... no offence
Cant call Vzw till 10 est to see if the store has any:fingers-crossed:
Having the Z3v,I wouldn't trade it up for any other phone unless it would be a newer Xperia. My other choice would have been a Note 4, but having the freedom to not worry about water damage and incredible battery life is what I've been long awaited for this when the Z2 was introduced.
Ok, I got mine. So whats the best/fastest way to charge this phone?
So Im just rebuilding my apps and all I can say is Wow I really like the way this thing runs. Lollipop really Fugged up my S5, how has it been for you guys

There's only two ways to charge: Regular and wireless charging. Wireless charging isn't as fast as regular charging, but it saves the hassle from taking the port out and inserting the charger correctly. I recommend either the Choe Stadium wireless charger from Amazon or the Tylt Wireless Charger if you want to spend the extra cash.
And I very much agree. I'm glad I held off on getting the S5/M8. My experience with this phone is simply the best, and I just shake my head out how people overlook this regardless of development.
makes me want one.. i have been sitting happy on my S4 running google edition.. scared to upgrade because seems like everything is root locked these days but it sounds like there is no need to root this phone..
one question, does this phone have expandable storage??

Yes, this phone has expandable storage up to 128 GB. It comes with a standard 32gb internal memory on board so it's still plentiful.
Good phone, but bad support... as in poor marketing, limited accessories and delayed Lollipop update.
mine comes in mail tomorrow! im moving from a jailbroken iphone 4 that has been terrible , although i still use my htc sensation running unofficial cm11 because its faster . im a lil worried about the transition from rooted devices to a non rooted one.
