Unlock Codes with custom ROM?

Ok so I sold my HTC One to a friend they then went and bought a unlock code and it didn't seem to work, so then they bought another one and it didn't work either. I had rooted it and installed the Trickdroid 11 rom for HTC One with the AT&T option so would this be the cause?
If so how do I get it back to a stock rom that will work for their unlock?
Thanks!

you will have to flash back to stock for the unlock code to work. I dont understand why, but that is how it is. I had a custom rom as well and the unlock code that was provided by AT&T itself did not work, once i flashed back to stock using the RUU, the code worked as designed.
go to factory stock , i had the same issue when at&t gave me the unlock code , it didn't work while i was on custom rom , then my dumb a** actually thought it was the wrong code and got one on ebay, turned out to be the same code ....so i followed directions and went to stock , and viola Unlocked...
Does the phone stay unlocked if you flash back to a custom rom afterwards?

I don't know your particular setup but if you are on AT&T then use clsA's Stock Rom Reset.

A little bit late to all this I just got the M7 . I did not think to unlock before flashing and rooting. So in order to unlock the carrier restriction I have to be back on stock and then enter the code that AT&T gives me?

What happens when you boot into bootloader and select recovery?
Lollopop has not been released yet for AT&T version. 4.4.4 was just released a couple weeks ago.

Is the phone modded or not (bootloader locked or unlocked, custom recovery, root, etc.).
Are you trying to access stock recovery or custom recovery?
I bought the device with stock ruu
Then I unlocked the Bootloader
Suddenly every thing went bad like I mentioned
Now the Bootloader is relocked
I want to instale a stock Rom
The phone won't even do a factory rest

Run the RUU. This should fix whatever is going on with recovery (assume you want stock recovery, as you haven't specified) as well as get you back on stock AT&T ROM.
My guess is that you just have a custom recovery install gone bad. Since you unlocked the bootloader, assume you tried to install custom recovery (as there would be no other reason to unlock the bootloader).
I tried to install the ruu but the phone doesn't accept it
Tried using adb to install it..

What error code?
Make sure its an RUU meant for AT&T. Hboot version of the RUU must be equal or greater than what is on the phone (no "downgrading" allowed unless you are s-off).
Tell me you hboot number, and I can tell you what AT&T RUU to use.
How did you update to 4.4.4?
I tried the same ruu on mobile 4.4.4
Even tried official lollipop from HTC site
Means no downgrading attempt
Anyway adb gives me 12 something error
About the ruu version error
But am sure am using the right ruu

There is no Lollipop RUU for AT&T. You can't run another carrier's RUU (unless you have s-off and change CID). So that means you are running the wrong RUU.

From the previous comment, I'm not so sure that is the case.
You didn't answer my question about what hboot number is on the phone currently.
You also did not answer my question on how you updated to 4.4.4.
Hboot 3.19.0.0000
The 4.4.4 has been auto updated before I unlocked the Bootloader

If you are s-on, this is the only RUU that will work: http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_M8_[email protected]41216A_40.34.C35006.02_F_release_407726_signed_2.exe

That is not a valid AT&T 4.4.4 software number. Are you sure you have the AT&T version? It has the AT&T "globe" logo on the back; and all the stock AT&T ROMs similarly have the AT&T logo on the boot screen.
You should also do adb getvar all, and post the output (be sure to delete IMEI and serial numbers, as there are personal info and should not be posted on a public forum);.
That's a euro build, not sure of the local of it, anything .401 is euro, .502 would be AT&T. I believe your in the wrong section for your device. I would check in euro/international forum for the M8 for possible rom match.

How to root (with links) is explained on my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432
Also, much of the "HTC specific" lingo is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52484527
I would suggest reading up (and making sure you understand all the terms and processes) for at least a couple hours before trying anything on the phone. I do this every time I buy a new device, even having own quite a few HTC phones. In fact, I usually start reading and researching before I have the phone in hand.
.

If your talking about ROM, then take a full backup of your ROM before flashing custom ROM using titanium/nandroid etc.
Or if your talking about root,
Just unroot using unroot apps from play store or the respected app you get after rooting.

As the above reply stated, it depends on what you are talking about.
If you just want the stock ROM, recovery, etc. one option is to relock the bootloader and just run the RUU. It will return you to stock software. The only thing not "stock" will be the bootloader will say RELOCKED instead of LOCKED. You need s-off to make it say LOCKED again (after unlocking it).
?

You should be good to go, then. Just unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery and flash the Skydragon ROM you linked.

You can return to stock with a RELOCKED bootloader with s-on.
You do need s-off if you want to make the bootloader say LOCKED as it was from the factory. But the only reason to ever do this is for warranty purposes. And if you bought the phone from AT&T, you should note that your warranty is through AT&T, not HTC. And AT&T doesn't give a crap if the bootloader is unlocked, or whatever (folks have even successfully sent in phones for warranty with custom ROMs on them).
If you are seeing warranty service through HTC (you didn't purchase from AT&T) that is another story. But that is the only reason I'd bother going back to LOCKED.
In normal usage, I recommend leaving the bootloader UNLOCKED as it give you more flexibility to flash ROMs whenever you want, etc. The only reason IMO to relock the bootloader in normal usage is to run the RUU.
S-off is nice have if you want to flash radios, modified hboots, and some other things (you also don't need to relock to RUU with s-off). It certainly doesn't hurt, and some folks like to make the phone as customizable as possible right away. In fact, I did s-off to the phone the second day I had it (although s-off was free back then). But for you, its not strictly "needed" at this time unless you want to do the things mentioned.
so heres the thing again sorry for the manny questions i am just making sure if i do this everything will work so heres the thing the rom i linked if i were to flash it will my at&t sevice work since it would be a different baseband

The baseband isn't determined by the ROM, its determined by flashing a different baseband/radio (which requires s-off).
There are some folks that have had issues on AT&T's LTE network using some custom ROMs. Namely, not receiving or sending voice calls while on LTE. But this seems somewhat random, and not the ROMs fault per se; but probably changes that AT&T is making to their network. The most you can do is flash the Skydragon ROM, and if you have problems, try another ROM or revert to stock.
Make a backup of your stock ROM with TWRP before you flash anything, to be sure you have something to revert to if you have problems. This is good general advice before you flash any custom ROMs, root mods, etc.
I'm using the ROM your linked (Skydragon Sense 7) on AT&T, and it works fine for me.
