My HTC is unlocked version.
I unlocked the bootloader, flash the twrp and SU.zip to my phone for getting root.
I can boot into fastboot mode and TWRP recovery mode without problem. (AT&T m8 rooting method)
However, when I try to reboot into system from TWRP, the phone just keep booting back to TWRP. I can't get into system. Anyone can help me with this isse? Am I brick my phone? Thanks.
I try reflash the TWRP but still no luck
Try to clean flash a new rom in twrp. Not sure what caused it but it sounds like you rom got corrupted. Make sure you wipe data, cache; and divalk before flashing.

Thanks, I am downloading a custom rom now and hopefully it will work. I flash a unsecured boot.img into m8 previously and now the device just boot to fastboot. But it still can go into recovery mode from fastboot.
Just wonder if I bricked my M8, how much will it cost to get repaired from HTC USA?

Glad you got it working. if you decide to soff, which i highly recommend, make sure and follow exact instructions and VERIFY you have proper working root before starting. Once RUU's are released, soff pretty much makes your phone 99% brick proof, but there is always someone who finds a way.

I was going to S-Off but lack of clear directions and dead links and such I decided against it.
What my problem is is that I that I flashed ViperRez when It first came out and now I'm not able to flash any other Rom.
I know I need to extract the boot img from the ROM i want to use and flash it BUT I cant get adb to run on my system.
I know about renaming to PH98IMG and flashing it.
I even took the the PH98IMG from an existing Rom and dropped the boot img I wanted into that folder and zipped it back up.
I have tried to flash several boot images many different ways and always no image found. :crying:
I have read every help file on this and followed the directions but still no luck. Can anyone help a old man out..
Thanks in advanced....

So basically adb wont recognize your device? if so you could try to reinstall the drivers and that might help.
Not sure about the dead links, but I think the S-Off directions are pretty clear. Seriously, this kind of trouble is exactly why you do want S-Off. The amount of hassle you are spending on this would probably have already resulted in S-Off.

Not really. I'm having similar problems. My question to OP, can you flash recoveries? I can everything but kernels for some reason, I get a device not found when trying to, I can lock and unlock bootloader thru adb as well.

I really don't care about S-off anyway and as of late most of the s-off links for instructs and such are dead. But I just want to be able flash different Roms. Before Viperrez i could flash almost anything now I cant get anything to install.
I guess what i don't understand is why I cant get a boot image to berecognized in recovery?

Well, you could back up everything on your rom and backup your internal storage and try to use the global RUU to get back to complete stock and then that will probably fix the problem. RUU fixes most problems.

Yes I've tried fastboot as well as adb neither works anymore , not even funky kernel. I've be dealing with this problem since flashing AOSP over a month ago.
OP try flashing Vigor360 by zph pilot , at least his kernel. I can run any sense 3.6 Rom with his kernel zip.

I ended using Scott's Clean rom ICS 4.5 Pro and the Boot image he had in a separate download worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice though...
i know it sounds dumb, but you never know... are you sure you are putting the PH98img.zip on the sd card and not internal storage?
Yes, brick my phone, my htc evo 3D with Hboot 1.58, Unlocked Bootloader.. I tried to flash the CyanogenMod Gangnam Style, with 4ext recovery, and stuck on Boot Animation.. I accidentally format system in te recovery, there is a solution? Thanks!
If you are s off you need to do downgrade your boot loader. If you are s on you needed to do the write trick then downgrade your boot loader.
To get your phone in order now, Download a sense 3.6 rom and format everything but sd card in recovery and flash it, Make sure you read up on the requirements to flash next time, All roms have certain hboot's you have to be on.

You can not install Cm 10 or 9 with Hboot 1.58..... you need to S-off and downgrade it to hboot 1.49 ....do the wire trick to downgrade it.....ATM you still can get to bootloader right?? so it is sofbrick and very easy to fix....download the correct RUU and flash it...With hboot 1.58 you can install rom with sense only...

TWRP backup of AT&T 32GB HTC One v1.26.502.10 (system, boot, recovery.)
HTCOne-32GB-ATT-1.26.502.10-TWRP-stock.zip

You know the deal:
Extract zip, copy '32GB-Stock-ATT' folder to /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/<serialnum>/32GB-Stock-ATT, reboot into recovery, restore system and boot, reboot into fastboot USB and 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.emmc.win', then 'fastboot erase cache', then 'fastboot oem lock', then factory reset.

That'd be nice.
First thing I did after unlocking was fastboot boot twrprecovery.img and took a nandroid to an otg stick. Never have to worry about getting back to stock again.
I have a stock rooted nandroid on a USB stick myself. Think I'll download a fully stock one in case I ever need to relock the bootloader.
Tampered and Relocked?
Hey guys,
Just switched over to the HTC One from an S3 and boy are things different (fastboot?). I am trying to get back to bone stock and relock my phone. It has a couple of dead pixels on it and I want to see if I can get it exchanged at an ATT store.
I followed the process above but after booting into the "stock" HTC One, I still get the Tampered and Relocked tags at the recovery menu. Did I miss a step or is this as far as I can go without an RUU?
Any information that can guide me in the right way will be extremely helpful.
EDIT: I also used a CWM backup on my phone that I believe was unrooted. I am currently downloading the stock TWRP posted by other xda members as I will be unlocking, installing TWRP, rooting, and then undoing all of the mentioned using the TWRP backup instead of my CWM backup.
EDIT 2: Restored using backup posted on this thread and flashed the stock img from showthread.php?t=2270552. I still get the Tampered and relocked messages. Is it possible to remove these at all or am I still doing something wrong?
thank you so much for giving a quick rundown of how to return to "almost" factory stock....I have been around a long time, but don't return to complete stock ever lol
Will be returning my phone due to horrible echo when rear microphone is covered and will use this to hopefully get a successful warranty claim. Thanks again!
i flashed the Google Play Edition 4.3 to the HTC ONE at&t... and i want to get the Stock AT&T to Sim-unlock the Phone... if i flash this Rom it will work as the stock AT&T like originaly out of the box... ?

If you have already made a backup with TWRP, it automatically creates a folder with your serial #, he just edited the folder name so we wouldn't know his serial #.

Thank you very much. got my HTC M7 running again.
Let me first start off and say that this was entirely my fault for the postion that my phone is in. I did not sOFF because I was lazy, and only have a Mac. I was fine with just being rooted and running MeanBean, that was until I saw SENSE 5 experimental roms coming out for our phone. I tried to flash to one of the SENSE 5 builds using HTC DUMLOCK, and now I can't get past the first boot screen.
info
Unlocked
HBOOT-2.09
RADIO-1.12.11.1210
Open Dsp-v31.1.0.45
eMMC-boot
S-on
3.16 &
Teamwin 2.4.1.0
I can boot to recovery, and when I try to wipe and re-flash MeanBean it goes straight to the BootLoader. I've tried searching the forum to fix my problem, but couldn't find a solution. (long-time-lurker) To my knowledge they haven't come out with a 3.16 RUU.
Basically I felt as though I've flashed a different kernel & boot.image that doesn't coincide with MeanBean and because I'm S-ON, It won't allow me to change that.
I'm very humble and grateful for any help. I didn't want to post, and wanted to find the solution myself, but I failed
Thanks in advance!
If you have a backup, you can restore it from recovery.
Once you're up and running, I highly suggest getting S-off. You can use the newest method, Moonshine. It's Windows friendly.

Ya that was the first thing I tired, to restore my backup. But when it booted up it goes straight to the main boot screen. Yes I agree as soon as I get my phone working I'll S-off, I've just been putting off using boot camp to dual boot to Windows. I've got virtualbox Windows, but I haven't had much luck pushing commands via usb.

If my backup won't flash correctly, I'm guessing I'm screwed at the moment. I've tried restoring my backup multiple times. I've tired several different roms with the same problem.
Maybe try and take it to sprint, and see if they have a 3.16 RUU to Restore to stock? Or send it to HTC?

I don't think your problem is that serious. What are you wiping in TWRP? On that note, make sure you aren't wiping anything once you flash the ROM.

After you try flashing MeanBean and it returns to the bootloader have you tried flashing it a second time?
Wiping cache/dalvik cache/system/factory reset before flashing the first time of course
Have you tried typing "fastboot erase cache" without the quotes from a cmd window while the phone is booted to bootloader

I usually use superwipe.zip before installing a rom. But since my problem, I'm wiping all 4 options on TWRP, and not after I install the rom, always before.

Yes I've tried re-flashing MeanBean a second time, so that it tries to install the kernel but no luck. I've flashed all 4 settings before installing any zips.
I'll try the "fastboot erase cache" this weekend, when I have access to a Windows computer.
Thanks again for all your suggestions.
So I recently tried to flash the stock recovery for my phone from TWRP but it failed. So I clicked reboot but it said "No OS installed"... I tried a few things to no avail (except for unknowingly deleting TWRP, so I don't have anymore recovery). I have s-on and it's locked. Any suggestions?
P.S. I tried a few of the RUUs but I soon realized that I have 3.16 which only works with VipeRUU. I don't have S-OFF so I can't use it. :crying:
ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

Click the link in my sig for fixing the phone after an OS wipe.
You'll need to get your recovery reinstalled first.

Try using the toolkit in the link below to get recovery installed again, or fastboot flash the recovery in the bootloader.

Okay, so I got the TWRP recovery working again but when I try to install a ROM, about halfway through it reboots to the infinite HTC loading screen

You have to install the rom twice since you are s-on
Once for the boot.img/kernel and once for the rom

Flash the ROM zip and reboot. When the phone reboots back to recovery flash the ROM zip again, and reboot. Did you flash MeanBean or something else?

No, I'm trying to install a stock ROM. Whenever I try to flash one, however, the device shuts off before it finishes.

When you say shut off, do you mean reboots into recovery?

Download MeanBean ROM and follow my instructions above. If you continue to have issues, you have bigger problems.
