Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Let me first start off and say that this was entirely my fault for the postion that my phone is in. I did not sOFF because I was lazy, and only have a Mac. I was fine with just being rooted and running MeanBean, that was until I saw SENSE 5 experimental roms coming out for our phone. I tried to flash to one of the SENSE 5 builds using HTC DUMLOCK, and now I can't get past the first boot screen.
info

RADIO-1.12.11.1210
Open Dsp-v31.1.0.45
eMMC-boot
S-on
3.16 &
Teamwin 2.4.1.0
I can boot to recovery, and when I try to wipe and re-flash MeanBean it goes straight to the BootLoader. I've tried searching the forum to fix my problem, but couldn't find a solution. (long-time-lurker) To my knowledge they haven't come out with a 3.16 RUU.
Basically I felt as though I've flashed a different kernel & boot.image that doesn't coincide with MeanBean and because I'm S-ON, It won't allow me to change that.
I'm very humble and grateful for any help. I didn't want to post, and wanted to find the solution myself, but I failed
Thanks in advance!

If you have a backup, you can restore it from recovery.
Once you're up and running, I highly suggest getting S-off. You can use the newest method, Moonshine. It's Windows friendly.

Ya that was the first thing I tired, to restore my backup. But when it booted up it goes straight to the main boot screen. Yes I agree as soon as I get my phone working I'll S-off, I've just been putting off using boot camp to dual boot to Windows. I've got virtualbox Windows, but I haven't had much luck pushing commands via usb.

Are you using TWRP recovery, and if so, what version?

YW I'm always willing to help if I can

If my backup won't flash correctly, I'm guessing I'm screwed at the moment. I've tried restoring my backup multiple times. I've tired several different roms with the same problem.
Maybe try and take it to sprint, and see if they have a 3.16 RUU to Restore to stock? Or send it to HTC?

I don't think your problem is that serious. What are you wiping in TWRP? On that note, make sure you aren't wiping anything once you flash the ROM.

After you try flashing MeanBean and it returns to the bootloader have you tried flashing it a second time?
Wiping cache/dalvik cache/system/factory reset before flashing the first time of course
Have you tried typing "fastboot erase cache" without the quotes from a cmd window while the phone is booted to bootloader

I usually use superwipe.zip before installing a rom. But since my problem, I'm wiping all 4 options on TWRP, and not after I install the rom, always before.

Yes I've tried re-flashing MeanBean a second time, so that it tries to install the kernel but no luck. I've flashed all 4 settings before installing any zips.
I'll try the "fastboot erase cache" this weekend, when I have access to a Windows computer.
Thanks again for all your suggestions.

[Q] After recovering stolen phone, it is now soft-bricked

Long story short, had a party at my house. The phone was stolen and wiped, OS entact, then sold on craigslist. Whoever bought it on craigslist, soft bricked it. Returned it to the seller who then found out it was mine and returned it. It was retrieved by my sister and was returned to me with the Splash Screen on with the red HTC developer warning at the bottom. Good news, phone is back. Bad news, its soft bricked.
So i go through a few of my options.
1) Recover a NANDROID
Internal SD completely wiped and External is missing
2) Load a NANDROID that I had saved on the computer onto a buddies external SD and recover
Loads to Splash Screen, goes to blank and returns to splash infinitely
3) Try the new DirtyRacun S-OFF
Cannot move past Step 13 because of symptom from #2 above. So now Im thinking that this may be because this method puts the original RUU on the device. I had CM on it at the time, which was flashed using Flash GUI, Im assuming the CM Kernal is still on the device and the Stock RUU wont match with the CM Kernal.
4) Flash CM
Same symptom as #2
At this point all I can do is ask the masters on the XDA forums (all you guys). The forums have totally helped me in the past but this is my first post. So, Im not to a noob to rooting and its involved processes, but, by no means am I an expert. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Some other things that may help are this I have a feeling that the Internal SD may be unmounted but Im not sure. I am unlocked and S-ON I was running a recent nightly CM flashed using Flash GUI. My recovery is TWRP 2.2. Also, Ive tried to search for soultions on the forums but havent found anything similar to my particular situation. If i could get a reference to different post that would be awesome too.
might try the recovery tool from original dev section
it was looking like a good resource for soft bricked phones.
since there's the racun s-off now you could maybe dev-re-lock and do the official ruu to 2.13 just to get to complete stock and a working phone
Also could try flashing stock pj75img from bootloader and starting fresh. I had to do this once when my system partition corrupted on me somehow and it saved my butt. It will overwrite anything left on your phone, kernel included.

what would that involve. i only know how to flash stuff from recovery. how would you do it from the bootloader.?
If you are on 1.12 bootloader use this link to dl, rename file to pj75img.zip only, place on an external sdcard and reboot to bootloader. Bootloader will automatically find the pj75img.zip and ask if you want to update, follow directions from there (it could take a bit and will reboot a few times and even look like it's doing the same thing over again) let it do its thing reboot and voila... Back to working stock.. If you are on a newer bootloader you will have to search for pj75img.zip that matches your loader (1.15 or 1.19) I'm at work or I'd look for the others.. Good luck bud, hope it helps..

That's what I thought to, but it's all I could find on un brick.. It sounds like u have similar symptoms as I did.. The pj75img.zip did the trick for me.. It's not nearly as involved as an unbricker would be and the phone virtually does it itself... What bootloader were u on??

[Q] need help! 1.19 unlocked and rooted, still cant install anything

This is my first post so sorry if what I ask is stupid or something. I have searched everywhere and cannot find anything that is current enough to help me. I have hboot 1.19 and my software version is 2.13.651.1 710RD. I'm unlocked, rooted and also have TWRP recovery and I'm s-on. When I rooted my phone it also gave me SuperSU. I'm super lost now because I can't flash any ROMs to my phone. I've tried the charmeleon ROM and also the tranquility ROM but when TWRP is at the end of the Installing process it says that it failed and that there is no md5 or something like that.
what am I doing wrong?

Just disable MD5 check in TWRP, that should fix it. You do want to verify your MD5 matches in something like ES File Explorer. If you don't that will cause many other problems.

couldn't find it... hmm.. i'm wondering if there is something else since i've tried two different roms and i'm getting the same error...
someone told me I need to flash the kernel separately but i have no idea how to do that...
Well yes but the Rom will still install without errors. Go to the TeamWin website and download it from there. Grab the zip and rename it and place it on your external sd and boot to bootloader. It will install and then reboot but if you don't have a working Rom remove the sd afterward otherwise you can get stuck in a loop. Do not place it on internal if you don't have a working Rom. The other ways to install would be to use goo manager to install or flash the recovery in fastboot

Alright i'll give this a try, but what zip am i supposed to download and rename? I already have the latest version of TWRP on my phone.
You can check the md5 using a file explorer. Longpress on file and select properties, then compare to where you downloaded the ROM from. If s-on, you'll have to pull the boot.IMG from the ROM zip and fastboot flash from cmd or use flash image GUI app from your phone if you can boot.
Also, I think the disable md5 check in TWRP is under settings.

Internal storage on my phone is fried - can't mount anything. PC doesn't find it. RUU is out of date or would possibly work. I'm using windows 7 and having a very scary ride because the phone won't show up with anything except the SD card - which would be awesome and let me flash the new CM10 - but unfortunately when I go to install it, I get "unable to mount SD card" as a perpetual error message. Even the 3.15 RUU is out of date, also, and though I went through the rooting process and unlocked the device thru HTC's website, I have version 3.16 and the RUU tells me to get the correct RUU and try again. I have to go to work now, if anybody else has been through the special hell I'm trying to deal with please post something, anything, to get my windows able to find my phone, or my drive (internal) to mount to the pc or anything! This looks like a brick (and I've never screwed anything up this bad before )
Boot to twrp and mount storage, then plug into computer. Windows will recognize that it's corrupt and give you the choice to format it.
I still have S-ON. *facepalm*
How can I achieve S-OFF status so that the ROM, which I more or less WAS able to flash using your advice, will be able to quit boot looping and actually work?
So much fail yesterday! that's what I get for trying to quit smoking.... :cyclops:

Got it done. Waited about a week or so to clear my head - then, starting with the unlock bootloader, I used dirtyracun to basically complete the whole process. Was missing a step on babyracun and it wasn't working because of that.

Could you elaborate on this? I tried signing up for an HTCdev account last night to S-OFF my phone and never got the email. I relocked my phone while following Unlimited's instructions and than never was able to get an HTCdev account so I just had to set my phone back up but did not reroot it or put a recovery back on. Now I'm thinking about just doing all of the OTA updates and getting my phone completely up to date than do the S-OFF and root it once I finally get an HTCdev account.
I have the stock 3.16 rooted. Rooting went fine, the only problem I had was with ROMing. Right now there is a problem with TWRP 2.4.1.0, it wont write the kernel. TWRP 2.4.0.0 and below wont work on the stock 3.16 as the touch interface is broken due to a screen driver update.

I would hold off on the OTA update right now. I did just that and almost bricked my phone this last weekend. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37549636 for details. Sprints OTA will bypass 3.15 and take you straight to 3.16.

I wasnt able to use TWRP at all. I had to use CWM recovery. you could also use fastboot to flash a ROM, but I don't think any ROM's except for the stock ROM will work with the OTA 3.16 because of the touch screen issue. I was able to flash Meanbean 2.9, it installed fine but after it booted I couldnt use the phone as the screen didnt work. I used the stock rooted ROM provided by The D3rps, located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127947.

Wow that really blows. I was hoping to flash the upcoming Viper release with 3.16. I'm going to contact a dev from Viper and see if they know anything. BigDaddy are you stock rooted 3.16?

Man that's ruining my day. I don't know if I should even root now I don't want to get stuck or waste hours trying to just get a ROM on my phone...

Yep looks like I shot myself in the foot. I'd rather stay stock unrooted and able to use my phone for now then risk rooting and being stuck.

You can be rooted on the stock rom. It's working on my phone right now, but it was a pain to get to that point

Ok so I have to flash this via Fastboot and not custom recovery? What are the commands I have to enter into a command prompt to flash this stock Rom?

You can have a custom recovery, just not TWRP. There is a version of CWM recovery that will work: *removed* page 5 and on for details.
The CWM recovery is what worked for me. Only thing that can throw you off guard is in CWM recovery you have to use the camera button as your enter button. The power button is the 'go back' action.
The command from fastboot is: Fastboot flash zip (name of SU zip). Though, I am new to this myself so running this fastboot method by a senior hackster might be best.

The first time I relocked and ran an RUU to obtain JellyBean I used the RUU that does the work for you. Yesterday I relocked and ran the 3.15 RUU zip from unlimited.io via Fastboot commands and was pretty easy. If I get bored enough and really get the ROM flash itch I may do as you say but for now I think ill stay unrooted stock.

Just for clarification, you ran the 3.15 then accepted the OTA from HTC which brought you to 3.16 correct? I ask because if you are on 3.15 you can use the older TWRP with no problems
*Update* Just checked out the dev forums. MB has been updated to 3.16 base http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048229
I'm going to check it out tonight.

[Q] My HTC Evo 4g LTE won't start up

So I recently tried to flash the stock recovery for my phone from TWRP but it failed. So I clicked reboot but it said "No OS installed"... I tried a few things to no avail (except for unknowingly deleting TWRP, so I don't have anymore recovery). I have s-on and it's locked. Any suggestions?
P.S. I tried a few of the RUUs but I soon realized that I have 3.16 which only works with VipeRUU. I don't have S-OFF so I can't use it. :crying:
ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

Click the link in my sig for fixing the phone after an OS wipe.
You'll need to get your recovery reinstalled first.

Try using the toolkit in the link below to get recovery installed again, or fastboot flash the recovery in the bootloader.

You have to install the rom twice since you are s-on
Once for the boot.img/kernel and once for the rom

Flash the ROM zip and reboot. When the phone reboots back to recovery flash the ROM zip again, and reboot. Did you flash MeanBean or something else?

No, I'm trying to install a stock ROM. Whenever I try to flash one, however, the device shuts off before it finishes.

[Q] SoftBricked Droid DNA. Please Help.

Hi I am needing some help with my phone. i soft bricked it a while back and it has been stuck in a bootloop ever since.
Important things to know.
it is ***locked***
monarudo pvt ship s-on
hboot-1.33.0001
radio-1.01.04.0308
OpenDSP-v6.120.274.0114
eMMC-boot
okay so i have tried using the RUU on my phone but it is giving me the error 158 because it says i don't have to correct ruu for my phone. secondly i get the FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail) error when i try to flash anything in in fastboot. so everywhere i have seen someone post about this they are told to try to go to s-off using moonshine but the problem is that my phone will only connect to fastboot and not to bootloader so i can't use ADB which you have to use to work with moonshine. if i could please get some help on this it would be greatly appreciated.
First thing first I'm guessing u have no ROM on your phone. Sense u in a bootloop?

no it was never rooted nor did it have a custom rom
if i go to recovery it bootloops, if i go to factory reset it bootloops, it is honestly acting like there is no rom and no recovery there at all. the only thing it will connect with my computer with is the fastboot and even then it won't let me flash anything in and it won't accept the RUU. i am just incredibly confused.

Are u sure it's never been rooted with a custome recovery or did this happen while trying to root/soff? Because what ur saying doesn't add up. I had a similar problem awhile back while trying to flash a Rom. It kept failing over and over. On my last attempt the recovery crashed and somehow became corrupt. So I was stuck with hboot and had nowhere to go. I ended up fastbooting a new recovery & downgrading hboot to the one compatible with the only RUU available.
You need to downgrade the hboot and then RUU. Then you can moonshine.

yes i am pretty sure it failed during trying to flash moonshine. i have tried to flash things in as i stated above but nothing will go in because it is saying its not the correct signature.

The link ThayIO provided is basically what I did.
If you are unlocked the command is: fastboot flash recovery (drag & drop the recovery image into the command window) and press enter.

like i said i am unsure on the exact details. it just doesn't make sense that i can't use my bootloader and then my fastboot commands are pretty much useless.. if i only had a way to flash in a recovery or the stock hboot it would work
Your only option is to achieve s-off. You can't do anything in fastboot without it. Until then your SOL
