Hello,
Okay, so I know that people always ask, "why the h*** would you want windows phone 7 on an android phone?" But, I really like the simple UI, and I like the way the apps look and things like that, so with that said I have 2 questions:
1. Does a "WP7 rom" exist (like in the WP7 forums).
2. If so, is it remotely possible to even attempt to run it on an android phone?
I am just asking because the way I see it if WP7 can run on an HTC device, why could it not run on an ANDROID HTC device, with the rerouting of some software and things like that. I have a MyTouch 3G Slide (I know pretty old school) but I have already gotten it to do things that they said would not even be in the dreams of a MT3GS user! I am a novice software dev, but I am completely down to learn, 100% with no objections!
Thanks you guys,
Ognimnella

As far as i know, the only non-WP7 phone that can run WP7 is the aging HTC HD2. But i really don't know how far the development has come, so we may see some Android devices run WP7 in the future. Who knows! (Not me)
The wp7 rom is not open sourced so no devs try porting

So wait how have people been able to create WP7 like apps (Launcher7, Seven Calc, Photo Safari, WP7Contacts, etc.)

They rewrote the programs, these ports don't share source with the original wp7 versions. That's why the Android version of these programs work a bit different.

Not sure how many people here are in the HTCElevate forum ran by HTC, but they recently introduced an Ideas section where HTC device owners can suggest ideas to help make their products more attractive. Someone posted an idea requesting HTC release an AOSP version of Android as an alternative to their power users who unlock their phones via HTCDev and prefer non-Sense ROMS. Maybe if we get enough "likes" for this idea, this could become a reality.
Go here and click "like" on this idea:
http://elevate.htc.com/index.html#dmlld0lkZWFEZXRhaWx8JTdCJTIycGFyYW1zJTIyJTNBJTVCMzA1MjIlNUQlN0Q%3D
or this one:
http://elevate.htc.com/index.html#dmlld0lkZWFEZXRhaWx8JTdCJTIycGFyYW1zJTIyJTNBJTVCMzA2MDglNUQlN0Q%3D
I'd be happy if they handed over the hardware binary so we could build AOSP ICS.
I saw the subject line of that email and it was the FIRST idea that popped into my head. Thanks for the links.
We want aosp !!!

I liked it. At least its an outlet for HTC to hear from their customers.

I would love it if it happened.
I doubt it'll happen but there's always hoping.
More people need to like these ideas.

I would definitely would wanna test for a paranoid android port count me in!
I would do ANYTHING to get rid of this stupid sense ****, paranoid will be close enough. When I bought the phone I fully intended to eventually get rid of sense for aosp, I figured it would take a few months, but I severely underestimated the blind love many people seem to have for sense, anything else is like second tier to these people and they could never imagine why anyone would want anything other than sense, so it completely kills any progress.

Glad to hear this - more roms. Looking forward to the release.
PA (aosp) is awesome... CM is awesome... Sense is awesome... AOKP is awesome... Motoblur is crap... TouchWiz is crap... there you have it
(These are just in random order as I thought of them)
PA would be ok on our phones, there would be no point in using the PIE feature as we have capacitive buttons, but the independent DPI feature would be nice as well as the color scheme feature (I use PA on my nexus 7)

Actually Motoblur is quite nice since Android 4.0. Of all of the custom UIs it has the most stock look to it.
Bad news guys...the tech guy messed it up with my DNA as was trying to replace digitizer and now screen is shuttered..small little pieces everywhere that's what he told me.....f*****k I live in greece and no one could.fix it here until I met this guy that he works on a repair shop..he was my only hope...I couldn't afford getting an LCD screen as all my savings went to the htc one pre-order...he warned me about the difficulty of replacing only digitizer.......I love this phone specs and design......can't afford another one at the moment so I can't move on with my project....pa on 1080p is perfect....havimg some problems with WiFi camera and some random restarts at the moment....I am a noob as a developer but I want to learn alone from my mistakes..so pa May take a while but would be for sure 100% lagfree and bugfree...I will do my best...I want a DNA so bad...will have the one in one week and will use it as my work phone and will stick in sense..as I will having sense I wanted something else for my personal DNA that's why I tried to port pa one month ago..now.I don't know when I will have again a DNA

sorry about that but maybe you can push your source to github and there are chances that some other developer picks it up from there, or it may help other devs who are trying to port cm to the dna.

regardless of whether or not you like sense, insulting the community and the developers that enjoy the shipped oem skin is pointless.....and makes you look bad
if you really need an aosp rom, then buy a phone that already has it up and running, or a stock google phone
if the carrier you are on doesnt have a stock google phone there are generally other phones that at least have very stable aosp roms
fwiw, drew and chad have done great work on their aosp projects, so its not like there will never be anything worth using on this phone for it
theres always the option that you could learn android programming and development on your own and contribute back to the community rather than just complaining
I would also be interested in testing PA. Loved it on my Nexus, can't wait for it on the DNA
I found this in HTC one original development, it's for dual booting roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2430020 probably the reason we don't have anything like this for the DNA is because we don't have much storage. I don't keep music or anything on my phone though so I usually have several gigs free. I would be willing to port it myself (with the developer's permission of course) but I wouldn't even know where to start, so if someone has some tips so I can see if I'm even capable that would be helpful too. Or if anyone is interested in creating their own...

There is one from 2012. It's based on cm10 but it has many bugs! :|
Sent from my One X+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There are porting guides out there that you can try and port it to your HOX+ . If you have the international version, you can base it off of your cm10 . Unfortunately for the ATT users (like me), we dont have a working cm10 to base ours from. I tried porting it using a sense base and I only got to bootanimation.
The problem with the HOX+ is that, despite being a great phone, it has a very small community and, at least on the inter-side, almost all developers have moved on to different phones.
One of the biggest HOX+ inter rom/kernel developers just broke his HOX+ too, as far as I can see all active non-Sense rom developers depended on him to some degree.
With, AFAIK, the last kernel developer/maintainer gone, even existing roms will start having a hard time staying up to date, as no-one will be able to fix kernel bugs or implement new kernel features that roms may require upstream.
I'm afraid that if you want something new for the HOX+, you'll have to make it yourself, there's no-one left to do it for you anymore, unfortunately.

I don't know who you're talking about. But if that developer is Lloir then believe me it wouldn't matter. Cause people asked him ages ago if he can make a MIUI ROM.. He said it's not open-source enough. And he also said he just can't stand MIUI.
I do agree with the small community thing though, I wish I bought a One X instead of the One X+
And I'm planning on buying an HTC M8 but I'm afraid it will have a small community so less ROMs and developers :|

I was indeed talking about Lloir. Indeed, Lloir won't have been the one to make Miui in any case, but he was the last remaining active kernel maintainer, something pretty much any other rom developer is depending on.
Plus, most rom developers for the HOX+ learned how to develop roms for the HOX+ from him in the first place.
While Lloir won't be making Miui, I think that, as long as no new kernel developer/maintainer will stand up, the HOX+ dev community will rapidly dry up completely, unfortunately.
That said however, we've been very lucky to have had these few talented developers in the first place (and still have a few), I've always been impressed at what the HOX+ community could do, despite it's size.
True that (Y) I don't know why but I'm not being able to quote you or press the thanks button o.o
