Problems after KitKat update 4.4 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I have an app that I use and need and since the update to KitKat 4.4 from Jelly Bean 4.3 the app no longer works. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 originally OS was Jelly Bean 4.3. The App is Automatic Call Recorder. I have attached the issue stated by the App Developer. So now I neecd to revert back to Jelly Bean 4.3 to make this app work again. I realize that I would have to root the phone. I am looking for step by step instruction for what I need to do. I am an Windows PC Computer tech support person by trade. I have research and read information so I am some what familar with the process. But new to Android OS. So, I figure I should check with the experts.
Thanks In Advance for any and all help.

There is no way to revert back to 4.3 the bootloader can't be downgraded.... You're stuck with kit kat .... Best you can do is root it and use folder Mount in app store to fix sd card

I have Galaxy Note 3 and found that if I use "camcorder" for my audio source -.mp3 as my file format 8 mhz for sound quality and u MUST have speakerphone on then it works and you can hear both sides!!! If there is a way to do this without speakerphone would be great or if there is a preferences to have speaker phone to turn on when recording only. Another app called Record A call will let you set a preference to "trigger" speakerphone when recording so it set automatically and you don't have to remember to put phone on speaker. So this is workaround! !! Is there somebody at Google where everybody can complain to get the real issue fixed.

There is an app in the Play Store that works perfectly for call recording on KK. It's called Call Recorder by SKLAVEX (dev's name is probably spelled wrong.) It's a paid app but it's worth the money. It records both sides of the conversation w/o having to be on speaker.

[Q] Call recording on the Xperia S

I recently made the switch from a samsung galaxy s II to the xperia S and one feature i miss the most is having call recording.
now i know that it is usually a hardware issue but i know for a fact that samsung and sony ericsson(now just sony) have never had issues with call recording and never locked it down.
When i got my phone, i went on an app hunt in the market for an app that would record both sides of a phonecall automatically, loud and clear. Unfortunately, i haven't been able to find one yet.
does anyone know of an app they have tried and found to work on the xperia s?
bump... i hope someone knows of such an app...
I haven't got my Xperia S yet but once tried "Record My Calls" with my X10 and I remember it worked pretty fine. You can try it or search for other app oout there.

You'll need 2way call recorder patched Kernel and root...!!! In short, use DoomKernel...!!!
GS2 can do that with Total Recall without root. How can Xperia S do so? I have to keep warranty. Thanks

There are many "call recorder"... Which developer's you are using?
Hi, i also cant find any app. Tried at least ten and none works? if someone have found one, link would be welcome!
I'm buy & using CallRecorder v1.2.7 all working properly.
My Xperia S is rooted ICS.
Try it!
I too had an app on my X10 that allowed for 2 way call recordings, I cant recall the name off the top of my head (perhaps it simply was Call Recorder). What I do recall was it had a very simple icon of a red dot on a black background; perhaps that may help someone.
Thanks.

Try that app, it works fine on my Acro S (which should be the same)
But I do remember that an older version on my Nexus used a lot of battery. Then again, everything on the Nexus did

[TUTORIAL] How to play sound through the earpiece.

I just thought I would write up a quick tutorial for anyone who ever wanted to play music through the earpiece for some reason (am I the only one who always forgets their earphones?). I had the urge to do it yesterday and this is how I did it
First download the app "earpiece" from the play store. You will notice, however, that it doesn't give you the option to play audio through the earpiece. This is because it doesn't think you have one. So, what you must do is take the attached file and stick it in the /system/etc/permissions directory (yes, you need root). Change the permissions of the file as needed and reboot. This file will make your player look like a galaxy S gsm phone (I have not encountered any negative results of doing this yet). You should now be able to use earpiece app for listening to audio through the earpiece!

UPDATE: I think this mod also makes more apps compatible in the market! Go locker, go search, and go notification are just a few that I have noticed! Could someone please confirm this?

You haven't discovered nothing new. I guess it changes device info in build.prop so your phone is detected as sgs. Makes more apps compatible.

Uh yeah, I know about that hack, in fact, I was one of the first to implement it, lol! What I am saying is this makes some apps that were still "incompatible" after that mod compatible (maybe, still waiting confirmation).

[Q] Call Recorder Help Please

I am running a Droid Razr Maxx CDMA (XT912).
I have Jellybean 4.2.2.
I have Cyanogenmod 10.1 installed as my custom ROM.
I installed BusyBox first, then Alsa Mixer. I want to use Call Recorder by skvalex. I can't find the free version on the PlayStore.
I am not a fan of downloading apps from anywhere else but there.
Can anyone tell me if these two programs that I installed will allow me to use the Call Recorder app
without any problems before I spend the money to purchase this app?
I know I can always get a refund but I figured that I would come here first to ask.
Any help would greatly be appreciated and I will click the thanks button for anyone who replies to this post.
I installed the call recorder app by skvalex.
It only records for the first four seconds and then stops.
There is no recorded file saved.
Any suggestions?

same problem here.... in my xt910
it records ZERO seconds
using 4.1.2 Jellybean
982.124.14.xt910.retail.en.eu
***please help***
same here with JB 4.2.2 XT910
It used to work for me with ICS 4.0.4 and apparently now it shows a red icon on the status bar instead of orange one.
And the message is something like error recording failed.
I contacted the developer on his email, he is a nice guy, I sent him the logs, may be he'll find something.

Call Recording

Anyone know if the S4 can record both sides of a call? On my incredible 2 with the cyanogen mod kernel I could do it with CallRecorder from the play store? Can the stock kernel do it? Our is there a mod for it? Thanks

yes, but it will be very faint. If you have something to boost the volume, you can still hear it. I use speaker cause it's louder, but I was on the phone and someone had said they can talk if they was on speaker. I took them off then went back and could still here the conversation.

Same question. Verizon S4 sch-i545, rooted, stock ROM. I had to keep my s3 on ICS to keep call recording going, desperately seeking a solution for my s4.
Speakerphone recording is not really a viable option for me (certainly it's not desirable).
On my s3 (ICS) I used KillerMobile's paid Total Recall app, and it worked beautifully and effortlessly. On s4 (Jellybean) no combination of settings with Total Recall work with non-speakerphone recording. In fact methods A, B, C, and D don't work at all - and method D generates such large logfiles that I have to kill the app, and delete the log (it was 7gb at one point!).
Update: Total Recall is working with Cyanogenmod 10.1 (10.1-20130614-NIGHTLY-jfltevzw to be exact) on my rooted S4. No other custom ROMs that I tried worked, however.
Tried: Jelly Beans, Synergy, and Hyperdrive. Have *not* tried Paranoid Android yet. With Cyanogenmod working with it, I think I'll just leave it the hell alone for a bit..
Hi Lazarus, make sure you have the latest TR build installed, we fixed this Logfile issue recently (it's only an issue with Strategy D on S4's).
Have you tried the app with the release version of CM10.1 vs the nightly you reference?
Thanks for the feedback and don't hesitate to contact us directly.

Hi there Total Recall Users,
Before reverting to older ROMS try this first:
I got this working and this is my interpretation of the recording problem:
I also use CM 10.1's latest nightly and struggled to get it working. I noticed that Total Recorder does not prompt for Super User Access when the program i.e. wants to install Strategy D and fails.
I think this is a CM 10.1 error. I installed SuperSU (there's a free version on Gplay). Run this and select install from the settings menu. It will prompt you to reboot immediately after the program closes. Reboot and be QUICK to click Grant Access to SuperSU (else it will get blocked) and it replaces the CM 10.1 SU features.
When running Total Recall again, and selecting Strategy D for Galaxy III SuperSU pops up requesting SU status, grant it, and installs OK.
Recording operational....
I cannot confirm if this is a CM bug
Good luck.
Total Recorder only works with speaker phone on S4 running CleanRom 1.5.
Also, the directory picker function is buggy.

NFC starts play store..

Hi all.
I am trying to transfer a photo from my wife's galaxy note 3 but everytime the phones connect, my XZU starts play store.
Any thoughts?

Interesting because on stock ROM you can't change anything. Curious are you running a custom ROM or is it stock? I just tried with my 6806 and my Note 3 and had no issues beaming to the Ultra.
Just to check, when you have NFC on, Do you also have Android Beam on as well?

You can't use NFC to transfer files. Its used to activate hardware or features. Its opening the playstore because it doesn't know what you want.
You'll need to tell it to activate android beam when tapping NFC
Don't ask me how to do that, as I've ever used beam.
Perhaps 'sony connect' from the playstore??
or
'NFC easy connect' both are by Sony Corp.

Yeah I downloaded NFC connect, this utility seems to be just for connecting to speakers etc, even with this software on the phone it does the same thing.
Weird.
Oh and I am on the stock ROM. Just upgraded to 4.3 so will see if that makes a difference.
Works from my xzu to HTC one hold them back to back android beam starts up and use ez file explorer to beam files
