HD calling is working and there are screenshots of the settings in this post from freeza's ROM thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51799980&postcount=689
I don't have this option in my phone settings, so is this available in the stock ROM or is it only available through the tweaks in freeza's ROM and/or kernel?
I have been on the fence about tripping Knox and rooting, but having HD calling might be enough to tip me over the edge.
Can someone please tell me what ROM or kernel enables HD calling as seen in mainstang's phone settings pictures from freeza's fre3 Hybrid ROM?

Well if it's seen in freeza's rom. Why would you ask what rom has it. You already know the answer. Freeza has alot of option on that others don't.

Thanks kaos, I'm currently running unrooted stock NC5 and don't have TEP, so I'm trying not to trip Knox. I will probably bite the bullet and root one of these days, but I am hoping there might be a stock tweak or kernel that would enable HD calling without rooting. If I do have to root to get it, I'd like to know what other ROMs have the option besides freeza's. His is nice for sure, as is Axman's, etc., etc.
Yes there are a load of things freeza's rom has unlocked over stock in menus. Working now on call today if I get time tonight I'll shot a video of the menus. If not will be tomorrow. But one thing I personal use is i can select 2.4ghz or 5ghz for wireless. For 5ghz wireless n it's awesome.

Thanks kaos, I would appreciate the video. The wireless menu sounds interesting too. I seem to always connect to my 2.4 GHz which is crowded in my apartment building. My 5 GHz is the only one I detect, so I would much rather use it instead.

Thanks again Kaos. Wow, I slowed your video to 1/4 speed in YouTube and saw settings I've never even heard of before! I think you have just convinced me to bite the bullet, root and trip Knox. I have always rooted my previous phones and having all of these options available make tripping Knox look like nothing more than a minor inconvenience.

I bought my phone outright from an individual and have insurance through Worth Ave. Group. It's under $70 a year with a $50 deductible and I have heard a lot of good things about them. I guess it could always get lost or fall in the toilet if it craps out.

Its funny that when I first bought the phone alot of people on Xda were saying how slow and laggy it was and I was starting to regret my purchase but a couple of weeks later and im thinking to myself how fast my phone is. I guess what Im trying to say is if you want to buy a Note go ahead and do so and see for yourself if its laggy dont just take others words for it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA

I disagree I went from the Skyrocket and my Note was a lot slower and really laggy. I just swapped my Note for another one today and WOW this new one I got today is totally different. It is just as smooth and fast as my Skyrocket. If anybody is having performance issues you need to get it swapped out ASAP you will wish you had sooner.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
That's not really so funny.
I also came from the Skyrocket and initially thought the Note was fast. Than I came on Xda and alot of user were reporting on how slow their phones were. Than I started noticing lag every where. Now after not thinking about it for awhile I dont notice the lag anymore. So my point is that by others saying how bad it was I started seeing the same0, whether it was there or not.

I have the note, although it is the international version.
When I first got it, it had just a little lag here and there. I don't use touchwiz, I use go launcher. I've had 4 updates, now at 2.36, LB2 and this last update (got it Thursday night) made this thing smooth with ZERO lag. Even scrolling apps in the app drawer, which, would lag for maybe 1-2 flips, then smooth out, is smooth as
silk with zero lag.
I lost root some time back, so it isn't a root issue, but perhaps on the at&t version it has to do with the bloat apps that run all the time?

okay not bashing here so dont take this wrong but I'm just trying to wrap my head around this statement, so you pay $300+ for your device but dont expect stock ROM performance to be any good?...seriously? I dont understand why someone wouldn't of course, and if it did underperform (mine runs fine) as a consumer you have every right to take it back. I think alot of people lose sight of the fact that it's still a PHONE that can now do amazing things that you would not have had the luxury of just a few short years back. And granted, the awesome development we enjoy through these forums does improve quality and enjoyment value of these devices to the point of maybe spoiling us as advanced users, but remember the vast majority of consumers of these devices are typical users and to them (and me) the Note on GB/Touchwiz although not a perfect machine is still an amazing device right "out of the box".

It is an amazing device but the Carrier$ load it down with u$ele$$ and unnece$$ary $oftware to $queeze more money from you. In the process the Bloatware DOES in fact hinder the performance as they run even when you don't launch them yourself. By getting rid of the bloatware you are unleashing the true potential of this beast of a phone.
Think of it this way... If you bought say a Subaru WRX STi and when you went to go pick it up and it had a bunch of useless Car Dealer stickons and random crap that hindered the performance, you are saying you wouldn't be upset ?

Very true. I'd probably be using an iphone if it weren't for the DEVs here. Sad that we need them to unlock the full potential of our devices. We also get better support from them than the companies that make them. A great example of that is the HP Touchpad.
Support your local DEVs. I do so by adding to their beer/coffee funds. Coffee is better as it keeps them up longer to work on things

How do we add apps to the Multi-Task bar. I want to add youtube but it is not an option when I hit Edit? I have seen it in several videos. Do we not get it on Verizon?
From what I've seen youtube should be there. Some 3rd party apps may not though. Can anyone that has one already chime in?
From what I have seen in various videos there are several apps missing on my Verizon Note 2's Multi Tasking Dock. In addition to You Tube I have seen Twitter and Chrome, neither are on multi tasking dock and I cannot see how to add them.
I think its drag and drop, try dragging them to the bar.
PS I dont have one yet
I tried dragging but it does not work.

sounds like verizon went and neutered the damn phone, between this and removing blocking mode.
I have the international note 2 and it requires either modifying the framework, or a app that has been written. I'm sure the app can be ported once someone gets root.

I have to say this is a little disappointing. I love the phone but the 2 apps I wanted for split screen were Twitter and You-tube and neither are not working on the Verizon Note 2

No **** you! Why don't you take ten seconds and Google an answer instead of asking to be spoon fed! If you looked there are edits you can do to the apps and apps people have already edited for lazy people like you.
Also the people here are not Samsung or Google. So how is it our fault you can't watch you tube while watching you porn and beating it at the same time (since I'm sure you're a Virgin)?
As for the drag and drop. Use some common sense. There is a bar on the side with apps, hold one and drag and drop it in the open space that SAYS DRAG AND DROP HERE!
Jezz the sense of entitlement on this forum is sickening. I don't care of you dropped a million on the phone no one here gets paid and this is a development Site that is going to suggest root and ROM. By the way for Christ sack try using some form of punctuation, what are you 10?
By the way sorry to the mods and people who respect the work out in here, but attitudes like this d bag piss me off so bad and it seems to be a growing problem around the note2 forum.

If you read your phones manual, researched, watched YouTube videos of how the feature works you would know how to use your phone at the most basic level. You come to this site to get information beyond what is in the manual.
The reason you get answers of "root" is because many things you want to do beyond the stock software requires it. If you don't want to root then enjoy your phone exactly the way it came out of the box. You have made a decision not to root. Don't get mad when people explain rooting is required for the fix.
And as mentioned above this is a feature that can be fixed by editing apps and installing modified apps without the need for root. But guess what. You need to do some work and decompile and recompile apps.

I was in your position a few days ago, decided to root so I could get Sixaxis then took the plunge so I could get all the toogles and every app in multi window (ie the full Note 2 experience). All I can say is that I am not disappointed
It really is pretty easy if you follow directions
Wanted to share this with folks, as I know a lot of you would like an early upgrade to the Note 2.
First, we are a business customer; that is my wife works for a large corporation that allows us some nice discounts on our service. We have 3 phone lines in our family, so we are not that big of a account personally..
I called CS today, and asked about an early upgrade. We are only in month 10 of our agreement, so I didn't think I had much chance. The first guy I spoke to was trying to get me to change my plan, and add a line, and do all other stuff, so he could "justify" upgrading me for $299.
I told him no, I didn't want to add a line, or do anything silly like that, and asked to speak to retention.
After being transferred, I politely told the gentleman that I wanted a $199 upgrade to a Note 2; I mentioned that Sprint and T-Mobile had promos for that price, and, I could sell our 3 phones on ebay, and make more than enough to pay the cancellation fees, but, I wasn't threatening to leave, nor did I want to leave, nor did I want 3 upgrades; just one for me.
He came back and said he could do the upgrade for 299, plus he would give me a 30 dollar credit for the next 6 months, effectively making the price 119!! (299-180=119).
I asked him to waive the activation fee, and he said he would give me another 36 dollar credit to take care of that, and, also, throw in 2 day shipping for free!
So, I should have my phone by Friday, and am excited to move to the note 2, especially at THAT price!!
My point is, it appears that now that Xmas has passed, they are more receptive to doing early upgrades for those of us that don't really qualify; also, being very polite, and nice to the agent probably helped me as well!
Thanks to all the great friends, dev's, and mods that I have made in this thread, and, a lot of you have already moved to the Note 2, and I am sure a lot more of you will be there soon as well. Hopefully, you can be as successful as I was in getting an early upgrade if that is what you so desire...See you on the other side soon!!

Its true that there will always be a next big thing. The flashaholic in me wants a note 2 but att extended my upgrade time to 1 1/2 yrs when I upgraded to the note and I didn't upgrade early. So wait until Oct or pay full price. I'm sure they would be happy to let me pay full (overpriced) retail.

Its how I used to make my ROMS then people begged for Aroma. Then I started to like Aroma...
So every once in a while I just throw out a simple yet effective ROM like this...

I think Aroma makes people like me feel like we have a part in "building" our own rom. It's an awesome revelation the last year or so. Having said that, it's also cool to have a stripped down, no-thinking-needed rom like this.
thanks for all you do!
Thank you so much!
I have tried all the cleanroms and the stock roms you've made Scott. I don't care for Aroma much so all these roms have been perfect for me!
I'm so glad there are TW rom choices. Thank You for that!! Each new cleanrom is better than the last.. so many choices We really need a dual boot for this phone. BTW the new radio works good for me no problems. Thanks again for all your work. Loooooove it!
I didn't see it in the description, does this ROM unlock the stock wifi tether like your prior ROMs?
I did not notice it in the description either, but, i turned it on and it went into "checking subscription" and turned on. With Verizon, when i upgraded from the HTC Thunderbolt to the Note II, they kicked me from my unlimited data, so, i wont be using this function much. Glad work issues me an Android with unlimited (rooted that to while i was at it).
I don't have Hot Spot on my subscriptions, but, it turned on.

If you don't have unlimited data then the hotspot is included in your plan.
A hotspot widget will still work however data drops will ensue if you're on unlimited data. Still recommend using the wifi tether for root users.
I'm having a few instances of on screen soft buttons being unresponsive.

So does this rom has the free wireless tether? Thank you

I always use the app Wifi Tether instead of the built in one, because it seems to give me higher internet speeds. Works perfectly with this ROM if you use this version with these settings:
Device-Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup-Method: Netd-Ndc (master)
Send Netd Max Client Cmd: check
Enable Wi-Fi Encryption: check
Change Passphrase: enter new password
WiFi driver reload 2: check
Routing fix: check (default)
Disable update check: check
Disable wake-lock: check (default)
Overall this ROM is great! I got it setup the way I like it and then odexed it using the Modaco "Odex Me" app. Really couldn't be more pleased with it. Signal/reception is as good as with any ROM I've used. Same for performance and battery life.
Yesterday was using Netflix heavily for much of the day and had the following numbers at the end of the day (I use Juice Defender, customized settings):
Unfortunately, it appears the Verizon Galaxy S4 will keep the notification we all hate so very much. Luckily, this does not apply to any other carriers, similarly to the S3. I am quite disappointed.

Nothing surprising ... Verizon usually destroys everything on the phone and put it's ugly logo and bloat everywhere.

Indeed. I was hoping they listened from the first time...
What is this wifi notification? I have a Droid Charge on Verizon and I don't see anything Verizon branded in wifi.

New phones get a persistent WiFi notification in the drawer. Incredibly annoying.
i'll just hack the crap out of it, and stream 80+ gigabytes of data monthly to piss them off. unlimited data ftw.

not sure if this will work on s4, obviously its for the s iii
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/0...g-wifi-notification-on-the-verizon-galaxy-s3/
and obviously we will have to wait and see, once the verizon version comes out.
i'm surprised they don't force wifi when available :silly:
Just a quick tip to temporarily stop in until reboot is hod the notification from the drop down, tap app info than tap force stop. It will get rid of it until a better root method is provided

I would take this response from the chat representative with a grain of salt. Verizon doesn't tell them much and they are notorious for providing misinformation. Take the S4 pre-orders for example. It seemed like everyone that did an online chat got a different answer as to what time they started. While it's likely that Verizon will force this WiFi notification on us, I really don't think this can be taken as a confirmation. The chat representatives most likely have not seen the Verizon model, nor is it likely that they've been given very much information about it.
Just trying to be optimistic here, although I'll be surprised if it doesn't have the ongoing notification.

Exactly. Chat reps are the pond scum of the Verizon food chain. Don't trust them for any sort of technical / non-basic information.
Although I would assume Verizon will keep this notification to annoy people who use too much network data.
i see it as a way of getting everyone off their 4g network so i can hog all the bandwidth

This isn't really the first we've seen of it, the previous gen flagship phones had this on Sprint by default as well (S3/EvoS). I don't remember how the S2 worked but I'm inclined to say that the "Sprint Connection Optimizer" became big in early 2012.
You and I may be against it, but there is a good case to be made for mobile data offloading onto your home/public WiFi connection. If anyone cares to read some interesting opinions on this, head over to S4GRU: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2...ta-on-wifi-even-though-you-pay-for-unlimited/ (starting at post #6)

I agree, but this should classify as nontechnical, basic information that even they could process.
