T-Mobile is the only carrier in the US who is including the Download Booster in the S5's Stock Roms. So, here's two questions about the feature:
Assuming it is software specific and that ATT, Verizon, Sprint shut off the feature within the rom (ATT have said they may include it in a later update), then would it be able to be ported to other carriers' S5s?
And would the feature be able to be ported to other T-Mobile Galaxy devices such as the S4 and Note 3, or is limited by hardware?
Thanks

Hello All!
I am interested in knowing more about purchasing non-Verizon branded smart phones for use on a Verizon plan (with working talk, sms, and data). I am wondering if there are options available for buying phones that are CDMA capable (like from Sprint) or international models that can be used on Verizon's network. I understand the capabilities of CDMA and GSM, as well as their differences. However, I would like to know if anyone has had any experience with taking (for instance) an international S4 (i9505) and using it with Verizon.
My reasoning for this, as many may have contemplated, is finding a way to take certain Samsung models of phones (i.e. S4, N3, S5, N4) that are unlocked and using them on Verizon's network because of the limitations placed on Verizon's phones (e.g. locked bootloaders). My hope is that Verizon users will not be entirely subject to buying dev phones for unlocked Samsung devices.
I do understand why GSM-only phones will not work (with Verizon being CDMA only), but I have heard that some carriers (including Verizon) may be upgrading to different network standards in the future.
Thanks,
MetaMav

Can't do that until this happens:

My father is likely to give me his Verizon Note 4, I know I can simply pop in my Tmobile SIM and voice works and then add in the Tmobile APN for LTE access...
But I was wondering what would be the limitations and ramifications of flashing the stock Verizon 4.4.4 Android with the Tmobile version... Is it possible and what issues could I expect when this happens?
The main reason I ask is Tmobile android phones have the Wifi Calling feature and with Verizon software I do not have this feature... interested if swapping carrier versions of Android is possible and if it would give me access to the Wifi Calling feature as if the phone was Tmobile stock.
Just purchased a 925F (international version) and am on T-Mobile US for a carrier. I came from an HTC one (M7) (also international version), and the devs on those forums had managed to figure out how to extract the bits required for T-Mobile Wifi calling and bake them into their custom ROMs. There is really no current development going on under the T-Mobile sub-forum for this device, so I am using one of the custom ROMs from the general forums...without my beloved Wifi calling. Just wondering if anyone was working on this. If not, I will just have to wait and see if anyone starts development for the T-Mobile version again.
Thanks.
I was thinking about getting either the international or the TMobile version of the phone because it's cheaper and more importantly it has an unlocked bootloader.
Does any one have the international version on att is everything working? what is not working?
thanks
No idea how to differentiate international or non. I preordered mine on At&t 3 days ago.
I don't think anyone has the international version yet. AFAIK, B&H is the only place to buy the international version in the US and they haven't announced a ship date yet (still only accept pre-orders).
I got mine from AT&T about two weeks ago. But I've decided that moving forward I will probably buy international versions of phones as I'm sick of dealing with all the bloatware that takes up space and I can't remove.
FWIW I bought the international version (H850) a month ago for use on AT&T in the US. Definitely has advantages (FM radio, Android 7.0). Just a few issues:
* No VoLTE
* Limited access to LTE networks - spoke to a store employee, without an AT&T device you are not 'guaranteed' access to LTE. Doesn't mean you're barred, but since updating to Nougat haven't seen the LTE symbol, just 4G,
* Wifi calling - I enabled the VoWiFi in the hidden menu, but nothing. Since it's a carrier-supported feature, probably not.
* Some AT&T apps don't install from my previous LG G4. Visual Voicemail is the main one, but you can install an older .apk and it will work.
Hi,
I am looking for some advice on stock Samsung ROMs that can do all of the following:
-Be Marshmallow, not Nougat
-Permits Samsung pay -no KNOX flag
-Work on Verizon and AT&T
-Maintain FM Radio functionality (flashed my Verizon s7 SM 930V to 930U firmware and lost FM radio), Next Radio says it works on note 5, but doesn't work on my Verizon Note 5 on 6.0.1
I can live without the FM, but it seems such a waste not to have it on. I flashed the s7 to have all the AT&T bands operational to migrate it to my personal AT&T plan and put the Note 5 on my employer's Verizon...
Thanks for sharing any experience!
