Hi,
Please make sure that your DPI/resolution/display settings have been set to default. It might be caused if you rooted your device and some display settings changed.

No I haven't changed anything about display DPI or resolution and I'm on stock but still it is happening. Although I'm root. Any clue?

Well that's not fair you don't have to do that.
I seem to be having the same problem here.

If you're rooted, then something must be running that is altering your display settings. Even something small like changing the height of your notification or navigation bar will change the widgets configuration.

Wondering if anyone knows where I can obtain a utility or hack to adjust the automatic brightness settings? In a dark or dim room, the brightness on auto is much higher than I need.
There were a few hacks available for windows smartphones to do this, but I haven't found any for Android/HTC. Found one specifically for the droid-x but don't think it works for us.
Been wondering on something like this also

CM7 has options to fine tune how auto brightness works.
^ Shift Faced
confirmed to work for me. I've adjusted mine in CM7 just the way I like.
Question to somebody else who has done it. Is it showing 1 colum having -1 on the buttons box? I noticed only one setting I cant turn off the 4 bottom lights because it doesnt let you change the -1 to a 0...
is there any guides i could read on how to set it all up? i have no idea what everything mean in that menu.

I'm right along with you. I just looked at it and then slowly backed out because I didn't want to mess anything up and I'm usually all for pressing buttons to see what happens.

I'll bump for this as well. I've always wanted to understand how to adjust the auto brightness in CM7, but I've searched around and haven't found any info on it.

Here is the screenshot. This is what I'm currently running.
I tried searching the forums for this problem, but didn't find a solution.
When I edit the brightness levels and try to save, I get the message that 'Settings has stopped'. Is there a workaround to edit and save the levels, ie. ADB?

Yes, I am using Zeubea's CM10. I would love to dim my screen more so I can save battery, but it looks like more people have this problem of not being able to save levels.
Why don't you change the brightness manually in display setting with the slider?

But wouldn't that mean that brightness is set at a fixed level? I use my phone in different environments and automatic would be very handy. But thanks for the suggestion.
Does anyone know how to fix the resolution of some apps? For example speed test does not display properly on the note.

ok, I'm trying to find it in the ROM, but I guess i'm not seeing it. best advice at this point is to grab the app "wallpaper set and save" and use that to capture the wallpaper.

I was looking to change the dpi of my hdx 7 but found that there was no setting in the build.prop file. Is dpi completely locked down on fire os or is the setting located elsewhere?

Try Xposed module "app settings". Used this to successfully tweak dpi settings on a 1st Gen HD; suspect it would also work on a HDX. Wild card is FireOS. The HD referenced above was running cm11.

Have you tried adding it in manually?

As I recall it didn't work well on the settings panel but did have some effect with other system apps. Don't know about system UI in general, that might cause a problem.

Alright, thanks. I've decided to make a restore file and play with things a bit. I'll report back what happens.
