Hi everyone.
I'm just thinking about buying a Xperia X10 mini pro for my wife. I went to the store to check but the screen looks really small. I was reading some reviews on the web but ther're not conclusive and always done with a fresh device.
Can someone post a brief review on the following topics?
1. How's speed after a certain usage?
2. Is the screen a limiting factor for some, many or really most android apps?
3. Will froyo be avaliable on this one in future?
4. Top 5 pros and cons?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well i have the x10 mini for more than a month now and the speed is still very quick, very few lags. For the screen size and apps, i think there are a lot of available apps for the x10 mini's screen size, my only nag is that i can't access paid apps yet, not really the x10 mini's problem but the android market here in my country. With froyo I hope its coming but i dont think it'll be anytime soon since the eclair update will be coming only at the end of october
Top 5 pros
1. very pocket friendly
2. fast
3. nice ui
4. nice camera
5. not too expensive
Top 5 cons
1. only android 1.6 but i can't say that i'd benefit so much with the 2.1 update coz i can do everything i need to do with my x10 mini right now
2. battery life not great, mine can last up to two days sometimes though
3. its not amoled, its asking too much, but hey it would look great if it were amoled might make it slower though
ran out of cons ... well.. hope i helped even a bit
I can honestly say there are no cons except the battery life is not the best.
If you want a bigger screen dont buy a mini of course! lol
Big thanks my friends! It's for my wife. I think she will be ok with a smaller screen if the form factor is better than the "big male phones" as she says hehe.
The eclair is officialy coming end of October than?

thats what SE said, hopefully there'll be no further delays
Yep. I'm using it right now.
However, startup is very affected by application. There are alot of nasty app there which start as system starts, this lengthen my boot time. After that, it's just quick.
I think, it is the only Android device with best physical design. I know it has limitation with android version and screen size, but, it's worth the style, plus I'm not so enthusiast. So, it's so stylist.
For your information, I already rooted this device. So, should still be okay if you want to play with this device.
Very recommended.

This is SE we are talking about. They are worse than British Rail at delays: http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/10/01...e-november-plus-more-details-on-improvements/
PS: Sorry to give you a con, rather than a pro
Both of us have the pro version of this fone there a several pro and not many cons
Yes it has a small screen but it is a small device
We got the pro cause the keyboard makes it so much easier to type
About the only major con I can think of is the boot hasnt been cracked so we're stuck waiting for SE to realse an OS update. There are a few apps that wont work becuase they require 2.1 and wont run on 1.6
When will the actual multitouch be available, the dualtouch is pretty annoying. If anyone knows any insight about it we wud all love to know
Thanks!!!
never..... the dual touch is all we're getting
as for as i know dual touch is pretty much enough but i would love it if we had perfect calibration!
cause the axes go the opposite when using dual touch in the ends of the screen
if this is fixed then its great
i think Xperia arc's drivers could be put into our x10 if the bootloader gets cracked that is
Ooo... Bootloader getting cracked is hard but not impossible. If it happens that wud be the best thing possible
andrej456 found a method to replace drivers via kernel modules for X8, originally made to get dualtouch on T-Mobile G1... However, right now it seems that it's working only on X8, because on X10 Mini Pro driver remains loaded in memory.
You can give it a shot on X10 to try to get more than two fingers
It's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976948
Basically, place replace piece of code in MT driver and compile it as module with make modules. We still haven't got DT/MT on X8 but andrej is making progress, he's looking at different drivers and tries to make working one for us
due to hardware limitations, we won't have true multitouch.
dualtouch is the best that the hardware allows us to do.
well, the x8 wont work on x10, and i dont want to risk anything on my phone, i have done enough crap on my phone already. i dont want to make it any harder. but i know that it is not impossible, there must be a way, the hardrives that hes looking for, can be taken from the xperia arc. cant it?
Xperia's hardware doesn't support multitouch

Hey guys,
I'm changing my phone in just a month or so. So i'd like to get some opinions on what phone to choose.
So my criterias are:
I want a phone that has tweaking options (i mean not bootloader locked or stuff like that), with either a dual-core processor or a sliding full qwerty keyboard (both would be brilliant, but i'm not sure it's possible to find some right now).
Other than that, i really don't care, nor about the manufacturer nor about the price (keep cool on this one though, if we could stay under 600$ it would be better ^^)
Thanks for your help, and thanks for having been helping me with a phone i love (HTC Desire HD) for more than one year now!
See you in the comments~
Droid 3 ou 4 seems to fit better your wants, but I see lots of users complaining about bad support and slow updates. There is Xperia Pro, wich isn't dual core, but it's great phone and have a lot of tweaks, unlocked bootloader and will get ICS in May or June, maybe a bit earlier. It have a full team of devs working on CM7/9 for it.
FreeXperiaTeam is a great team, who dev CM7/9 for Xperia 2011 devices, and hopefully, as soon as possible, to 2012 line too.

Thanks, i tought about the droid 4. But i think the bootloader is locked on the droid series, ain't they?
The SE XPERIA Pro seems like a good choice, maybe not as powerful as i'd like it though... sorry for being so precise again...

I don't know too much about Droid devices. I am a SE owner and fan, so it may change my minda bit...
But I don't know any other modern QWERTY Android phones. They seems to be a little forgotten by manufacturers.
Oh, there is a Samsung one. I think it's Infuse, Captive, or something like that, I can't remember the name. Try going to gsmarena.com and search for Droid 4, then there should be something like ''related phones''.
Do the same for SE Xperia Pro (wich is a awesome phone. Hadn't the opportunity to play with it more than I wanted, but everything is really nice.).
And then go to Samsung, and look for the first keyboard phone you see, and let me know the name.

Hi! I was just wondering, is there any possible way of flashing/installing the camera application from the Xperia Arc S to the Atrix? I really like that camera, chock-full of features and what-have-yous. I've adored that camera ever since I used it on my bro's Arc S. To all the experts, is there any way at all that I can make this happen on my Atrix? Thanks in advance!
That's not possible because Arc camera hardware differs a lot from Atrix's.
I imagine With a lot of hard work and skilled hacking it may be possible, seeing as other phone's camera applications have been ported to the atrix, but as of right now i don't belive so.
well...... maybe impossible...

Hi guys!
I own a motorola defy for quite some time now and I'm thinking of switching to SE..
Neo seems like a good phone, I always liked SE phones because of the great camera...
so my question is this:
I know there are a lot af roms for it but I see on cyanogen site that there is a stable release of cm7 for it...
what can you tell me about user experience with it? is it laggy, are there any flaws and downsides with this phone?
every SE android phone that I have came across was slow, laggy and annoying..
what can you tell me to convince me to buy a SE?
please share your experience because I don't have any one to ask, none of my friends have a SE so I can't get it and play with it for a while to see what's it like...
thank you very much:good:
Neo / v isn't really an upgrade from defy, very similar in spec. Infact mine was s replacement for my broken defy.
The lag you've seen will have been on stock Roms, cm/aokp don't lag.
Personally though I would say save a bit longer and get s 2012 Xperia.

thanks for your feedback
I know it isn't really an upgrade but defy/neo specs are enough for my usage...I'm thinking of SE phones because of the camera, I know that they are great..
so when you replaced your defy for a neo, did you regret it? do you wish your defy didn't brake or are you satisfied with neo?
Neo is good for the money, but can't swim like a defy
Camera is not that great tbh

now that is an answer I was looking for
thank you:highfive:

I Think Defy is far more rich in Custom roms then Neo. Stick To Your Defy Or Buy HTC (One v)/ Samsung (Ace 2).
