Return to stock? - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Is it possible to return a phone back to stock once s-off and unlocked bootloader have been achieved? I am rooted and am thinking about returning the phone but am afraid they will know this has been done.

I would like to know this as well. Hopefully someone can help. I would like to fully restore to stock. Is there a att ruu or does someone have the stock firmware?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no ruu or strock "firmware" for the at&t build yet...there are nand back ups that can be flashed via twrp/cwm,stock recovery is available and reset bootloader is about as close as your gonna get.

[Q] Revert to stock FROM ICS Rom?

Hey guys im running CleanRom ICS and my phone headjack dosen't work. I have to send it in to VZW and receive a new device.
Is there a tutorial or how can I completely revert to stock kernel, recovery, and stock GB?
I know there is an RUU for it but I am not sure if that will work.
If anyone could explain or if there is a tutorial to point me in the right direction for a novice, that would be great!
Thanks

The only way to do that from my understanding is RUU. That is what SBFing was to the droid. I do know that to RUU , you need to relock your phone. Did you back up the stock rom or the stock rooted rom ?
Either way, just go back to HTCDev and they explain how to relock your phone.
Download the RUU, after phone is locked I think you just have to plug in the phone to charge only and run the RUU exe. Must have HTC drivers installed obviously and possibly working adb , but since your rooted and running custom roms you probably are.
Once the RUU, is done you should be back to stock , unrooted !
so if i relock my phone it will automatically revert me back to GB?
No. But you need to relock it in order to run the RUU which will get you back to stock.

-run the vigor RUU
-factory reset

as far as i know, before locking the bootloader,
you might want to flash back to gb rom i think.

yeah...You need to be back to a GB kernel for sure. I thought the RUU is basically a ROM but not really sure how that works.

If the 3.15 RUU only updates you hboot only you can find the fix here
Don't run the JB RUU it is known to cause problems. Relock your phone and take the OTA. It is the safest way.

I locked the phone and did the ota, but whe ir rebooted it it got stuck in the first menu where you can chose recovery and fastboot. I removed the custom recovery and relocked the phone. I downloaded the update again and this time it got stuck in recovery. Do you have any idea how ro get this update to install?
I got it to take the OTA update. I had to remove the custom recovery, lock the phone and install the stock RUU for the version I was on. Now I just need to get s-off and I'm good.
Thanks for all the help.

Problems restoring to stock

I converted my HTC One to a google edition by flashing the ruu, changing the modelid and cid. I tried reverting to stock sense by restoring a nandroid but when it booted to Android the touchscreen did not work. When I restored the nandroid I did not change the modelid or cic but I don't think that would have mattered. Do I need to also restore the bootloader ?

You need to restore an earlier firmware. Follow the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355814. On page 5 i posted a firmware that replaces the same partitions (other than system) that the GPe conversion changes out. If you don't want to change you MID just change the android-info.txt file to match your current MID (PN072000) and it will flash.
Good luck...if this helps let the folks in that thread know, and as always love the thanks button.

No...just system and boot usually. You can grab cache and data too...but not the other partitions. Be scary always writing the firmware on restore. Mucking with firmware is risky business.
Let us know how you make out after flashing firmware!

It did not go well. I got the wifi and touchscreen working but I cannot find a truly stock rom. I found a better solution by switching to the developer edition. I now have tethering without limits.

Complete HTC newb here so apologies if its been repeated or if there's already tons of threads on it, but I can't seem to find a solid all in one revert to 100% stock thread... that said, the crack flasher in me got too antsy and I unlocked the bootloader, fastboot flashed a recovery, and put a custom 4.2.2 ROM (ViperOne) on my One. I liked stock just fine and want to go back to it now. As far as I know I didn't s-off or change my firmware or anything important, I just did those 3 things so would I be ok just flashing that T-Mobile stock zip posted above and then fastboot flashing the stock t-mo recovery? I am not a flashing newb, I know adb and fastboot and how to flash various packages.
tl;dr unlocked and flashed a custom recovery to put on a custom 4.2.2 ROM. do I need to do anything special besides flashing a T-Mobile "stock" package and reverting recovery?

You don't need to be S-On for OTA's. Only locked bootloader with stock recovery.

[Q] Trying to do an OTA

Hello,
So I want to do an OTA from 4.4.2 > 4.4.3 on my One (M8).
I have Un-rooted, flashed a stok recovery and already have stock firmware.
Yet when I try and install it I get to about 1/4 then it shows a red triangle with an exclamation point.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong!
Please help
Many thanks

Have you disabled or removed any other system apps or made any other changes or mods to the system?
Oh, also, you probably need to relock the bootloader. Not sure about OTAs since I never ever do OTAs as they are the least desirable way to update, but via RUUs or firmware updates for HTCs you have to relock, so doubtful it's different here.

Thanks for the reply.
So I just re-locked the boatloader and ran the OTA.
I got the same result, a red triangle with an exclamation point.
I don't think I have modded anything, I did install viper rom, but I then backed up to a pervious stock version.
Any suggestions?

But without knowing which version of the phone you have, if it came from a carrier, what build version and firmware version are currently installed, etc, then can't really provide much more detailed instructions. If you aren't sure, re-read that first post again and use the fastboot commands to find out the important stuff.

The 3 ways are OTA, RUU, or firmware upgrade zip if S-Off. Pretty sure there won't be an RUU for 4.4.3 yet as it just dropped recently. You could try to RUU back to official 4.4.2 and try the OTA then if the nandroid restore doesn't help, but those are the only ways.

Sorry for no reply. Working on unbricking someone's phone. You need to install Att latest firmware. R you on pure stock now? If so don't worry bout if firmware has boot.img ....firmware might have stock recovery.img which will replace twrp if that Dev don't remove recovery like I do from my firmware. To flash newer builds, newer firmware is required. This is stated in the O.P of most threads for ROM's.
