Hi,
First off I'm new to this forum and this is my very first post...
I by mistake formatted my SD card and erased all the CWM backups of my stock Rom. So, now I'm stuck with a custom Rom. I was hoping if someone could tell me where i could find the stock firmware for my model. Or if someone could send me their stock Rom backup if possible.
I've tried Sammobile and it said that the file doesn't exist.
I tried stock Rom flash-able via Odin which after flashing got stuck at booting.
Please,help.

It's common to bootloop after Odin flash of stock rom. If the flash was successful and without errors then just need to boot to recovery and reset after flash.
Done that already.

Hi
Thank you for your response.
I did that but then itself but still it would hang at "Rogers" on boot, and then if I leave it for a little while longer the display would turn off.
Also, my EFS folder is corrupt. Is there anyway to restore the IMEI no? I was trying it a post on this forum on how to unlock the phone and ended up corrupting the EFS folder.
Since this phone isn't available in my country the Samsung cannot provide service to me, that's what they said, so this forum is my only hope.
Which firmware did you flash? So you tried to do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595756 instead of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860003&highlight=bit-flip hmm? Is your IMEI missing or is it 0049...?
You might find something helpful on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535384 I believe you are suffering from the reboots because of the messed up EFS partition. The 3rd post in that thread explains what block the EFS partition is at. There is more info about this issue here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471421 - I think those adb commands might work properly if you change the block to the one in the first link since this one is for another Samsung phone, but pretty sure it's the same deal if you have successfully flashed the correct tar file to restore to Rogers stock software and a reset didn't fix.

Hi,
First of all I apologize for not responding sooner.
I flashed the stock rom for SGH-i927R from the sammobile website. I tried reset, I tried flashing it again but, no use. It still goes into bootloop. Could you tell why it goes into bootloop.
Thanks for the tips on restoring EFS folder. I'm using CWM recovery, If it works with CWM also, then I'll try the links.
Thank You.

Kies isn't going to fix EFS issues like this.
What happened with the adb commands? Just saying no result is not very descriptive or helpful. Was there an error message? Were you not able to get it to recognize the phone? Issues with drivers? etc

Whatever adb command I tried it said, "*comand* not found". So I checked if adb shell was working with cwm and it was(i tried rebooting).
there were no issues with drivers or getting it to recognize the phone. Just that those particular were "not found". Do you know what it could mean?
If you are in CWM and run
adb devices
and it returns the device serial then you should be good. What commands are you trying that aren't working?

I was unable to find any other threads with this issue for the SGS2 Sorry if I missed one.
After rooting my SGS2(ATT Version) Yesterday I am having an issue where WiFi only stays on for about 30 seconds after I turn it on. After looking into the settings I noticed there is no MAC Address. I am assuming this is why it is not working? Does anoyone know if there is a way I can manually enter in a MAC address or find the original? Am I going to have to reflash back to the Stock ROM?
All help apreciated!
You're in the wrong forums, potentially flashing things for the wrong device.

Hi there. I experienced the same issue with you last week and here are the methods. I am assuming that when you press *#06#, there will be no IMEI. This happens when you often flash (chance of happening is very low though)
1. EFS backup
Do you have EFS backup? If you have, you can restore it via ktool and you should be fine.
2. Modem
Download the modem file and flash via Odin. See if this works.
3. Stock
If #2 don't work, try flash back stock. Flash back everything to stock.
4. If that doesn't work, this is the last option.
Copy all the EFS file you can find on your phone and move to your laptop.
Factory reset, wipe all data.
Install back stock ROM everything.
Root it and install Terminal Emulator.
Move back all the EFS files back to your phone.
Open Terminal Emulator and type this:
su
umount /efs
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
mount -w -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /efs
busybox tar zxvf /sdcard/efs-backup.tar.gz -C /
Now, if this goes through, you will be fine and IMEI will be back. If not, you need to send back to service centre.
For my case, my EFS backup was 'corrupted' which the last method works for me.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply nicregi!
But I do have an IMEI showing up. I am thinking maybe I flashed the wrong Kernel when I rooted maybe?

Can I get a Mod to move this Thread Over to the ATT Galaxy S II Q&A Please?
Hi Guys,
Sorry to bother you with this, but I'm out of ideas...
I decided to root my i9100 using this guide9.
As I was doing this, the recovery rom would reboot when using the volume buttons to navigate (only on the first "page") - This was easily worked around by using the touchscreen, but now I'm wondering if this was the start of my issues...
I applied the SU busy box installer, and got root. I installed rom manager, and noticed that it seemed to lock up when doing certain things. I put this down to CWM saying there was no official mod for the i9100.
The next day I decided to try and install a CM10.1 nightly, so I took a backup, wiped cache and data, and applied the rom and gapps.
When I rebooted, the phone wouldn't finished booting, it just sat at the initial logo screen.
After that, I tried following this recovery guide but the odin flash failed at around 80% (I retried and the same happened again).
Since then I've had difficulty getting in to recovery mode. I've tried flashing various stock roms with odin, and trying to restore with Kies.
In Kies I get as far as it conencting to the phone in download mode, but it pops up a "notice" in a foreign language - presumably Korean (and I can't copy the text to even attempt a google translation).
I tried flashing Siyah-s2-v5.0.1 to get a different recovery - that seemed to have a garbled progress bar, before hanging when I tried to wipe /data again.
When I use odin to flash a stock rom - is it supposed to restore absolutely everything? I'm not sure how I'm still getting problems if this is the case. Any ideas on what to try next?
(The current stock rom I'm try ing to use is this one)
Let me know if I'm missing any info, and thanks in advance for any help.
Using rom manager would have been the start of your problems-not the temp cwm recovery in the rooting guide.
If you can boot into download mode then I would download LP7 stock rom, disable kies and flash that with Odin.
{go back to your iphone since you are an android noob}
Thanks for the reply.
Rom manager didn't work properly for me, so I stopped using it. I used the temp cwm recovery to install the CM nightly.
I can boot in to download mode, but I've already tried an LP7 rom, - as with the others, it doesn't boot.
Any ideas on how to tell why it isn't booting? logcat doesn't seem to want to to work. Not sure if it's broken / too early in the boot process / etc

I9100 right?
Try this:
- Download this ROM.
- Kies installed? uninstall it, re install it. Close it all up with Task manager (3 or 4 applications running).
- Flash ROM via Odin (CSC, MODEM, PHONE).
- If that doesn't fly, try another usb port & usb cable. Another PC would also be recommended.
- Repeat the process.
- Still no luck? try flashing a previous siyah version.
- No go? repeat all the above.
- Let us know how you did.

For some reason, I can't get Odin to flash that rom - it just hands for a while at the start of data.img, before saying "Complete(Write) operation failed."
There a .pit file in the archive, although the link says not to repartition (so I didn't).
Some roms seem to get written, some don't, I'm not sure why...

Odin failed about 80% through flashing (step 4, after taking the ICS steps). I tried flashing the kernel afterwards, which flashed, but didn't help with my boot issues.

Of course, I was just trying to get a better understanding of how things work - I'd settle for anything booting right now.
I was meaning how far did you go with his guide. He says (near the end) to flash a bootloader/kernel/rom.
You can try everything in his guide, but understand about the risks involved with pit and bootloaders.

He's right.
Keep trying, consider pit files & bootloaders as a last resort.
Tried everything?
Used another usb cable for the flash? tried in another PC? tried in a laptop?
Are you sure kies is all shut down?
I've read about so many people having the same issue than you, they keep on flashing as in trial & error and most times they come out winners.

I guess I'll keep at it then.
I'd tried another cable with kies shut down. Just tried a different machine, and flashed the ROM you suggested with heimdall. It flashed without complaining (unlike odin), but I'm still getting a boot loop.
Looking at the initial recovery guide I was following - I suspect that I might've flashed the bootloader (the guide shows in bold which file goes in which box, so I probably loaded them all). Maybe this is the source of my troubles...
I also noticed that heimdall can pull data from the phone too - if I can pull and mount these, am I likely to find any useful log files?
For completeness (and anyone else who finds themselves with the same issue): It seems I hit the EMMC brick bug, which rendered some of my EMMC storage unusable.
This helpful chap came up with a workaround to partition around the dead space. (Please read the post carefully and make sure this really is your problem before flashing!)
That method will let you know what part of your memory is corrupted. It's done via recovery as far as I remember.
Did you bring your device back to life?

Yes, that's right. IIRC, I flashed a working recovery with Odin, then did most of the work from adb shell.
I got my device back to life for the most part. I get the occasional hang but haven't investigated much (have since bought a Nexus 4, so not using the S2 so much).
Just thought I'd share for the next poor soul who has the same problem

Anyone know where I can get the multi-file old-style firmware so I can get this working again?

Here you got ICS ROMs & LS8.
That's for I9100, make sure you're packing the right model as well.
I managed to get it working again by VOLUP+Power+Menu and going into CWM and restoring from a backup.
But it is rather concerning that if I hadn't of had a backup I would be screwed right now, I use Odin and I was using the thread you posted above, however even after flashing those and even wiping user data, it still boot looped.

If you can flash a back up you should be able to flash anything else. I mean, there's nothing wrong with your device.
Are you sure kies is all closed before flashing via Odin?
Try Mobile Odin to flash a stock ROM.

Did you try follow the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
It outlines what you did, only it suggests flashing a stock ROM through Odin instead of restoring a backup. Data stored on the internal memory will be lost during process, but it seems you have no way of retrieving it anyway! Give it a go with the stock ROM's link that gastonw linked you.

Dude, your device was not "bricked" and it was of no concern. The problem was simply that you flashed a incompatible kernel.
To solve it all you needed to do was flash compatible kernel in download mode using ODIN and you would have then had correct cwm, root and rom would have booted no problem.
hey there everybody
i have a serious issue and i think i could use your help
well previously i was on stock rom 4.2.2 on my I9300, then i flashing 4.3 manually using odin and downloaded the rom from sammobile anyhow since i flashed that firmware i can no longer access anything on my sim card, meaning i cant call or receive any call from anyone, it keeps saying no registered on network, then i thought it could be the rom or something, i tried pa rom and cm official latest builds but in vain, the same issue, i tried changing the sim card but the same, issue not resolved....how can i solve this prob, i wish it is just a software issue not a hardware
i also tried following this link, i thought it would help somehow, but in vain as well, now i have no idea what to do to solve this issue, tried reflashing another stock rom which is probably more appropriate than the old one, but also it didnt work, so now i have no idea what to do, i just need urgent help please, thanks a lot in advance

Hi sorry I have been away from computer i'm glad to see you got it working You will always need to use a patched modem and kernel the only way to return to normal would have been to backup your efs before it got changed. As for backing up your efs you can back it up with PhilZ recovery I'm not sure about twrp iv'e not used it for a while. There are are a few apps/programs that can back it up also just do a search on xda. But remember you will always need to use the patched modem/kernel if you change roms.

Because when you flashed from 4.2 to 4.3 your efs got changed from efs v1 to efs v2 and in the process it got slightly corrupt so it was unable to read your modem ( This happens some times and you where unlucky) .This is a lesson for all people to make sure they backup the efs before flashing roms ( Especially the very first rom that they flash) it is the very first thing you should ever do.

The one that says kernel is kernel patch and the one that says modem is the modem patch lol Try the mk6 modem and the mk6 kernel patch flash them in custom recovery with 4.3 rom. If you get bootloop reboot into recovery and factory reset. Please note this is not guaranteed to fix all imei issues but does help in some cases.

Is there a possibility that there's a way that I could just wipe my entire phone clean of all partition and data and start a fresh firmware update?, if so how can I do that, as I have a corrupted file then I think if it can be done it might just work a fresh firmware flash on a clean system??

Read here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-imei-efs-stuff-i9300-including-t2393289 << Also you can always pay for a service repair if the patched modems do not work.
important NB: TWRP recovery do support EFS backup with encryption, so i guess it is great to have a sensitive data such as EFS to be backed up with encrypted password, so i do recommend using it as a backup
Hello All, I'm pretty new to all this and am feeling out of my depth, however getting desperate and don't know where to turn next.
I am in Australia and purchased a brand new GT-I9300 from eBay around 3 weeks ago which was shipped from Shanghai, China.
It turned up running 4.1.2 and worked just fine. I tried using the software update feature on the phone to see if 4.3 was available, however, I got the error message to say that because the phone had been modified, software upgrades were unavailable. I mentioned this on a local forum here, and someone kind offered to help me upgrade to 4.3 using Odin.
Turns out the phone was shipped to me rooted and had SuperSU installed. Had to install and run Triangle Away to reset binary counter first. Then installed Odin and followed the links to the firmware and this is where it started going wrong. Fist attempt resulted in a boot loop and could not enter recovery mode to factory reset, however could access download mode, so flashed with 4.3 recovery firmware which got the phone to boot up. Then flashed 4.3 stock firmware again, which was successful this time. However, when trying to make calls or send text messages, the error message on the screen is "Not registered on network". Have tried going back to 4.1.2 and upgrading using Kies, but same result. Then tried the patch from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2745274 and still no luck.
I then sent the phone half way across Australia to Official Samsung Specialist Repair Centre, however, they called me yesterday, to say that because it was an international model, they can't/won't help as they don't have access to international firmware.
If anyone here can help me to get this phone working again, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Thank You. The phone was posted back to me yesterday, but I won't receive it back until the end of the week. Once I get it back, I'll try this out.
I'm very sorry to have to ask this, but could you give me a bit of a step by step by what you mean?
Thank You again.

Many thanks tallman43, I managed to get someone to give me a hand with giving your idea a try. Just wanted to let you know that it worked, and my GT-I9300 is now back up and connecting to the network and running with 4.3. Thanks again, and much appreciated.
Hi all,
Please help me, my device is Samsung s766c displays an error after turn on, displays pop up message "system process not responding" with two buttons wait & close, then device reboot, so I cannot access to it.
I did wip data and wip cache from recovery mode but the same error appear, I notice in recovery mode displays "failed to mount EFS" I think the problem from it, I did more searching for EFS for this model but I do not found it.
Please anyone have this model make backup for the EFS and send it for me.

you cannot use some one elses efs it contains your data that make ure phone ures. imei and other
so im assuming youve rooted it and either deleted stuff or flashed a custom rom
always first try to use odin and dl mode and flash stock firmware
some efs issue span from flashing roms or roms with wrong modems and base bands
and sometimes can be fixxed simply by going back stock

Thank you friend for reply.
I can not root the phone and i can not enable ADB, the phone do reboot quickly, also I flash the stock rom but not resolved, so if I'm sure if flash the EFS for the same model "Samsung S766C" it will be resolved not EFS for other model, now i cannot use the phone yet.
Who is can help me and make backup EFS for the same mode?

You were told. You can't use it. The files are unique for each device.
If you didn't make the proper backup then you will have to send it to the oem.

If flashing the pure stock rom doesn't fix it and you have no back up then you have 2 options.
1. Send it in to the oem (will most likely NOT be free)
2. Blow it up
