Hey everybody, so I tried to download the hyperdrive rom and once I'm in safe strap it will not allow me to create a rom. Is it because I has twrp installed?

Not sure what you mean.. SafeStrap is based off TWRP if that's what you're saying. And how are you going about creating a new ROM slot so we know what steps you're taking

If you have MK2, I'm pretty sure you didn't have TWRP installed before Safestrap.

If u had TRWP then ur on MDK and there forth doesn't need safestrap. Safestrap is for people with firmware after mdk. Ur doing it backwards. If ur on MK2 firmware u need to install Safestrap 1st then boot into Safestrap make ur Rom slot.

OK i found out what it was. You could only create a rom with the internal memory, so I had to free up some space in order to create a rom

I am new to the s4 I am on mdk version running twrp 2.6.0.0. Every time i flash a rom it bootloops back into twrp. I have tried new hyper drive 8.1 rls8.1 and synergy r104 Neither work. hyperdrive installs but bootloops back into twrp and synergy wont even get to aroma. I installed twrp through goo manger and used motochopper method for root. I looked for answers everywhere. sorry guy i need some assistance hopefully i missed something easy I also have odin back to stock re rooted more than once with same result. now i have tried cwm and oudhs with same result
Twrp 2.6.0.0 never worked well for me. Try a 2.5x.x or the new 2.6.1.0.

You can find them here in the development forum. To step up your flashing knowledge try to stay away from goo manager.

It could be because of the twrp version your using. Theres been alot of people having the same problem you are. You could try downgrading your twrp version or using cwm. I use cwm and flashed both those roms no problems. You migjt want to check the md5 hash as well you could be getting corrupted downloads.

No. Only MDK can have a custom recovery. Read up on Safestrap. It's your ONLY option.

You need to research how to root your specific build. They're not all done the same way. As far as a custom recovery, your ONLY option is Safestrap. I suggest you do a lot of reading before you run into bigger problems.

OK. My baseband says NC5 now, according to plan. Is towelroot my only option? Is safestrap my only recovery option? I thought that if you try to flash a recovery to try a rom when you are rooted with towelroot that it will brick the phone.

We can only use towelroot and safestrap. There are a few good roms in the development section that we can flash. Hyperdrive, echoerom, and Eclipse are solid. There are a few others as well that are closer to stock or are hybrids (aosp feel with TW base). Check out that section and flash only the ones that say are compatible with SS. I'm running echoerom v39.1. Be sure to read all the instructions since some of these roms may have other files that need to be flashed with it. Happy flashing!

From what i see, you cannot flash a custom recovery as you are not on a MDK bootloader. You are running NC5 which is to say "forget about running a custom recovery or a custom ROM outside of Safestrap."

If you haven't done so anyway, you will need to root using towelroot. You'll also need to get SElinux changer from the play store and set to permissive. Then install safestrap 3.72 and flash roms from the dev section that say are compatible with SS. That is what we're limited to.
