I noticed a few issues when I upgraded to kitkat originally, ignored them most of the time or did a battery pull when this happened, but my phone would not let me make calls, it shows a white screen, then after a while com.android.phone is not responding. This happened on my HTC EVO 3D when upgrading from 2.3 to 4.0, any ideas why this is happening? Am not rooted here.

I'd start by redoing the upgrade. Samsung kies will do It for you. Sounds like a bad ota update. Start there or take it to sprint and let them worry about it.

Everytime I go to check for a software update it starts checking then goes off quickly without telling me if there was one or not. Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat as you. Check out this thread:

You can check the first and last post in that. The way I got around it was by activating my sim in another rezound and then swapping back into my original and it all of a sudden worked. Dont really know why, but i know another person got it working that way too.
My dad has updated his evo to the 1.22.651.3 update. And now the phone randomly reboots and locks up all the time. He can't ever get the navigation to work for him either(its locks up and force closes). Is anybody else experiencing these issues too? Also whenever it locks up and unfreezes itself he has to reboot the phone to get data services back. If he gets a replacement will it have the same update? Could I just ruu back to the shipped rom?

I would say back everything up and do a hard reset. I've seen a lot of issues get cleared up like that. I would reccomend against getting a replacement unless you have to.
Yeah, if hard reset doesn't work, I would think it's a defective unit. I've had zero problems with update.
(I'm still stock)
Thanks for all of the advice I think I'm just going to try a hard reset. I really like his evo. Might be leaving att and my vivid for one of these soon. They're great phones.

same thing happening to me too. I updated profile and prl many times with no progress. I even flashed many stock based roms and all had no service during and after setup. I pay ,my bill the month before. Anyone have this problem?
EDIT: I just returned to stock via RUU and i still have no service. At this point whenever I attempt to update profile or prl I get stuck on the loading dialog.

I have had a problem with service from sprint. When I send a txt I would get a "radio interface resource shortage" error, or some thing like that, and some thing similar to the old three tone, "we are sorry but the number you have dialed..." When I tried to send a call. I reflashed, wiped tried everything.
{FIX}- I had to call sprint and have them reset/reactivate the phone on their end.
Try to call your provider for help, or if you have an activate this phone app in your settings drawer.

So the past two days I have used my old galaxy nexus to play around with aosp again. Yesterday I put my SIM back into my DNA and I can't get 4g. I have installed different kernels, wiped EVERYTHING, refitted the SIM 1000 times and still nothing. Guess what? 4g works fine on the nexus. Also, when using an app that allows me to access the phone info screen, lte only option gives me 4g with no hiccups. But when I change back to anything else I can't get 4g.
New SIM?
I saw an old thread about it but not many answers.
EDIT: new SIM fixed it.

Thanks for sharing. I literally just did the same thing. I guess I'll be going to get a new sim today.
Will this happen every time I use my nexus?

Edit- new SIM fixed it for me too.
Could either one of you guys tell me if phone calls caused com.android.phone to force close when making a call or when an incoming call pings the device.

On which device? And before or after new SIM? I never had it on my nexus although I recall having it on my DNA but only on sense 5 and I don't think it happened during my "Coruppted SIM" moment.

Hey guys,
I have a s3 (gf using it) and she was complaining about the device with stock rom...no mods
So the problems I have no solutionfor:
Even the wifi\mobile data is always on...whenever the device screen is off even for five minutes, when someone sends a message for example on whatsapp... It is only after 5-10 is delivered...furthermore when someone calls her the display does not turn off for 2-5 seconds..
No energysavingmode nothing..
Any suggestion?
I just tried arhd 4.3 but still the same...can be kernel related? Its still the stock
Thanks

if you are from UK try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2517781
Well unfortunately/fortunately I am not from the UK.
I will try tomorrow a different kernel, but I have had this with the old 4.1.2 software as well... So still no clue what could cause this and the delayed instant messages....
Thanks tho....
