You'll have to flash the STOCK Hboot for the Unlock_code.bin to work
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
---------- Post added at 04:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:27 PM ----------
Also, if you flash the unsecure boot.img then you can send root (su) command line through adb shell to unlock that way
To flash boot or recovery or Hboot just zip it together with your devices android-info.txt and named properly and flash through bootloader (like with splash1.img)

fixed!!! forum member russellvone just SAVED my ass. So what he did was he had me download this file for my ATT M8
https://mega.co.nz/#!NUURzC5T!tCjG3n...c6zRAwOPZ8T2PI and told me to rename it 0P6BIMG.zip and place it in my adb fastboot folder
then he told me to run these commands:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 0P6BIMG.zip
fastboot reboot
then once everything was done we ran the commands from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571) and voila! i'm once again unlocked! He explained to me that when i tried to run the unlock commands before it didn't work because i had the secure boot.img and what he had me flash was a file he created which made it unsecure so i could run the command. HUGE HUGE props to this guy.

This forum section is specific to the AT&T version, and Verizon has some very distinct differences (CDMA device is actually different hardware, no official bootloader unlock, etc.). Advice you get from AT&T users may not be correct for you. So I suggest that you post in the Verizon specific M8 section for the best help.
One thing I can say, I've never heard about updating via HTC Sync. I've only heard or updating by OTA or RUU.
With OTA update, you typically just need a stock ROM (no modification to /system by root) and stock recovery. Root is okay, bootloader unlock is ok.
With RUU, it doesn't matter what ROM or recovery (they will both be over-written by the RUU). And with s-off, bootloader unlock is ok.
But again, I'm a user of the AT&T version. So this might not be the most accurate info for the VZN variant.

current state: unrooted, s-on, relocked
I successfully unlocked my phone, installed TWRP and attempted to flash a new ROM. Some how I messed up by wiping out system file without backup, and I failed to flash a new ROM either.
So I flashed my phone with RUU latest version (hboot 1.19, radio 1.12.) Now on the bootloader screen it says RELOCKED on top.
When I tried to unlock (normal HTC Dev method) the terminal gave "unlock token checked successfully OKAY", and the unlock confirmation screen showed up normally.
But after rebooting, it turns out my phone is still "RELOCKED." Is there any reason why it doesn't work? And how to reunlock it successfully?
Did you submit the unlock token to htc website so that you can be given the unlock_code.bin file to flash?
---------- Post added at 05:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:41 PM ----------
Never mind I misread the post, try the relock command and unlocking again

Have you tried flashing twrp anyway?
Use the 2.2.2.0 release, the new 2.3 has some issues that need to be worked out. It may just flash over, and never know

Maybe it's worth mentioning that after select 'Yes' on the unlock bootloader screen (the green page), the phone didn't reboot. It just turned itself off with red LED charging.

You could try downgrading to hboot 1.12 to get s-off...then it won't matter if you're unlocked or not. The process is still pretty new and not for the faint of heart (yet), but seems to be verified working. Check the downgrade sticky thread in the original dev forum for more details.

I believe downgrading method requires an unlocked phone, since it needs twrp for adb commands?
Yes it does, I didn't even remember that lol. I just didn't mention it because right now the overall process is rough
I think the unlock process modified the boot section, and looks like mine is a bit messed up. If so, would 'fastboot flash boot <bootfile>' work? (I don't know where to find it yet, just an another thought.)

Now..for the radio...fastboot flash radio <radio.img>?

can this be flashed the same way we used to do with the TBolt? by placing the appropriate file name on the root of the SDcard and it will automatically load when booted into hboot... it looks like PL83IMG.zip is the proper name... and where can I get the radios from the OTA update or do I just pull it from the OTA PKG?

Since we have no SD card, HBOOT doesn't look for the PL83IMG file, and yes, just pull the radios from the OTA and fastboot flash them and you should be good.

Since the DNA does not have an SDCard, it does not search for a PL83IMG.zip to the best of my knowledge. The updated firmware can be found in the firmware.zip in the OTAPkg.zip: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390288116658474558
im confused on how to extract the radio.img.. after i unzip the ota i cant extract the files from the firmware.zip it keeps giving me an invalid error... do we need this hboot just to flash a radio?

you can't flash radios in fastboot unless you make a fastboot flash zip. Easiest way is flash this in recovery to get it updated. http://d-h.st/O3t

the radio itself along with other things like an updated hboot (possibly) along with touch screen drivers etc are in a firmware.zip which is itself inside the actual ota update zip.
Basically its
update downloaded to phone via ota
it is stored in /cache/<actual update>.zip
It your bootloader is unlocked the phone will detect that say it cant update and it will delete the update.

New radio is definitely legit.
On HSPA+ I got 9.37 mbps down and 2.43 mbps up both are by far the best I ever got at my house. Usually I'm in the 3-5 mbps range down and .5-1.5 mbps up range here. I wonder if there is a way to enable the new LTE as radio upgrade doesn't touch that.

You can do the OTA update with an unlocked bootloader you just need stock rom and stock Recovery. Or at least in my case I just restored my stock rom in twrp. Then flash stock Recovery. Do the update. Then I flashed twrp again did a backup and restore my modaco switch backup.
So you want the 250mb file the Ota updater downloaded?

I have heard that there is an DNA 2.07 RUU leak out there somewhere. Has anyone seen it? As of right now I am at a brick and cannot get my DNA running again without that RUU. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
We can probably solve it, and there is no 2.07 ruu.
How did you brick your phone?

You're already replying on my other thread concerning the brick. I am s-on and locked but stuck in bootlaoder.
Been talking to beaups on IRC and he seems to think he saw the 2.07 RUU leak somewhere. It's the only way to fix it

Beaups got me fixed up. It isn't an exe file like the 1.15 but it includes everything needed you just have to flash it manually. Here is the link I used and it worked perfectly. It takes some time to figure out how to download it because everything is in Chinese but it works.

first of all, rename the file to something simple like "rom.zip"
then you type
fastboot flash zip rom.zip

I have the rom.zip in my platform-tools folder and i have tried just in the same folder as the whole bundle.

Move your sdk folder straight to your c drive and rename it sdk
Then type this first in cmd

Then run the flash command

Do you have file extensions hidden? If so, if you renamed it rom.zip it's actually rom.zip.zip
Turn extensions on, then name properly

Hi all,
I just tried to unlock the bootloader of my Desire 610 through HTCDev but it does not work for me.
I type "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" and confirm with volume up + power button that I want to unlock.
E:\fastboot>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.108s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.004s]
finished. total time: 0.113s
The phone restarts, does a hard reset but when I go to bootloader to check, it still says "Locked".
Weird because I do not get any error message. The entire process (10 steps) goes straight forward.
It just won't unlock no matter how many times I try.
Does anyone else have the same issue with this device or any other device?
I'm on :
A3_UL PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT : 3.18.0.0000
Radio : 1.101.1102.15.31
OpenDSP-v27.2.2.00546.0311
OS-1.18.401.4
Thanks
Am I the only one to have such an issue?

You need to be in the same directory as the Unlock_bin. You can tell from the amount of kbs it's trying to transfer that it's an empty bin.
Redownload the bin, and cd to the same directory.

I just got this phone but am curious about this. How/why does the m8 unlock token work?
Sent from my HTC Desire 610 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i tryed to pop up "unlock bootloader" menu and it works with .bin but i dont have time yet to do backup of my current data so i could test if it realy works(since you lose all data when you unlock bootloader)..
my device is @ 1.18.401 software number and i recieved 1.31.401 update at start of this week because htc rolled out updates for m8 too..
dont want to update yet cuz i want to try root and flash twrp and try to make image of 1.18 so i could share it here. then do the same with 1.31..
i got some expirience of flashing mine old xperia x8 and some more htc models from friends..
if anyone got some tips what is best way to get original image of htc's 4.4.2 kitkat just PM me. i need little help..
best regards from Croatia
We have a twrp build that works also?

Eagerly awaiting your experience.
Hi.
So, somebody unlocked it?
P.S what model are u choose on HTCdev, htc one or other models?
Cheers.
He advised me he used the " Desire *" method, however the star indicates that it flashes the bootloader from the original htc desire to your device. Until we get confirmation that nothing is broken and it actually works as intended, I cannot yet recommend this method. If you're in dire need for some reason, feel free to try it, but don't hold them liable if something goes wrong. I'm in contact with htc dev team right now awaiting a response on the proper way to unlock. If I get no response, we'll try this method perhaps.
Yes, I managed to unlock it with HTCDev. I used HTC Desire* as device.
Sent from my HTC Desire 610 using Tapatalk
So, now we can push superuser and install cwm or twrp trough the adb using for example, strawmetal guide, right?
Cheers.
If you wanna try that method, I suppose. We don't have an official method for any of that yet, nor do we have a recovery build to flash or a way to flash superuser. Nor do we have a way to elevate adb to root to allow that installation yet.
So in essence, no. But if you're willing to risk your device also, try the unlock method Nixing used lol.
Confirmed
Yeup using the HTC Desire* has done the trick after hours of searching last night I decided to use the HTCdev way and it worked 1st time no problems !!!!!!! next up Root...
Good deal. I'd still avoid that though, and use the "all other supported devices" instead. The star means it loads a different bootloader. The desire and desire 610 are not the same device, and that could be very bad. The all other supported devices option does not load a new bootloader. Unless perhaps they go by the device unlock code you provide and it can tell you don't have a desire.
Fair enough...I have successfully rooted my device too.

I´m having no luck
tried both
Desire * and
"all other supported devices"
Code:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
< waiting for device >
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.138s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.010s]
finished. total time: 0.148s
Still says *** LOCKED ***
