Hello
I have problem with my s3 i9300. Last week I recognised that earphones icon is always showing that they are pluged in, even if they not. I ve tried to reinstall firmware, fully cleaned cache, tried to clean socket with compressed air. Nothing helped. However, using SoundAbout app sound plays nicely thru speaker and thru headphones. (so it should mean parts are working).
Today I received headphones/speaker module replacement from ebay. I replaced it, but now its even worse, speaker not making any sound at all and earphones icon is still on top all the times (I asked for refund on ebay because I think the module is broken). However, because its still showing headphones icon, I think problem is somewhere else.
Any Ideas what else I can do, before taking phone to service and being there robbed?
I appreciate your help!
First, if you changed that module, Samsung official Service can't do anything about it. As they would say it is your fault. You should have gone to the service first. At least to ask they if they have a solution. I saw you deleted cache, but try first to backup everything, and then format all partitions (save backup on SD card). Then flash another ROM.
You said that now speakers aren't working now, but does the headphones work ? Are you sure you didn't damaged some of speaker's components while changing the jack ?

Ive bought this phone secondhand without warranty so Samsung service cannot help me anyway.
How to format internal storage? You really think it could help?
Its just my English, that's why I cannot explain clearly. Sorry for that
Module 1
Original headphones/speaker module issues:
1) Earphones icon always on top
2) Media is playing only thru headphones (ringing tone/notifications working fine, sound can be redirected to play from speaker using SoundAbout).
Module 2
Headphones/Speaker module from Ebay issues:
1) Earphones icon always on top
2) Media is playing only thru headphones
3) Ringing tone/notifications not working. (Media cannot be redirected to play sound from speaker using SoundAbout app)
4) No sound at all from speaker
I have played around with both modules a few times. Everytime I plug it in, they got same issues.
Anyway, I'll try to reinstall different firmware now. I'll let you know results, but honestly I dont believe It could help because I've never used custom ROM. All firmwares I've installed are from SAM mobile site.
Internal memory format and new firmware (I9300XXUGMK6_I9300OXAGMK6_BTU) installation didn't help. Galaxy still thinks that earphones are pluged in.

I have read other posts on the forum but believe my problem is a bit different and quite weird (to me).
The symptoms are:
- sound through headphones is OK
- sound through the speaker when someone calls me on the phone is OK
- any other sound through the speaker is non-existent (ie ringtones, music, games)
I have tried rebooting, removing the battery, plugging/unplugging the headphones. I have tried the *#0*# code and pressed "speaker" but there's no sample sound heard (except through the headphones).
Does anyone else find it extremely odd that the speaker seems to work fine when someone is talking to me on the phone but nothing else? I'm guessing this means the problem is some kind of software or firmware issue. Correct?
Prior to the problem, I started with Android 2.3.3, rooted the phone, and flashed a stock ROM (KK2). I have upgraded to 2.3.6. Unfortunately I can't be sure the problem occured since 2.3.6 because I don't play music that much, and I play games without sound.
Should I (a) re-flash stock ROM, (b) factory reset, (c) call Samsung?
Grateful for any recommendations. (I'm not confident/competent with replacing the speaker myself)
regards.
Check sound settings first .
Factory reset.
Flash a stock rom .
Rooted so warranty void .
You will need to clear root with a stock rom flash and reset custom rom counter to zero with usb jig .
jje
Receiving a call has a separate speaker, so your problem is with the back speaker which plays tones and other music, do a complete factory reset and check for sound if its still not playing, then it could be a hardware issue.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Thanks for the advice. I didn't realise there was a separate speaker.
I've performed a factory reset but no success.
I'll call Samsung today and arrange for the speaker to be replaced.
Thanks again
I've Had Success..
Hey guys..
I know this threads old, but I had success fixing an AU TELSTRA i9100T with the same Audio issues presented here. Runing GB 2.3.3 Totally Stock.. No root, nothing.
Every-time I increased the Speaker level to more that Half way, I'd hear a deep "CLICK" sound then no Audio any more through the Speaker..
When headphones are in, No problems at all..
Strange thing is, that once I turned it down below half way, and Blew air or puffed or even Talked Loudly into either of the 2 x Mics on the Top or Bottom of the phone, the sound would return OK.... but, again if I turned it up past Halfway ( sometime maybe one step over half way ) it would CLICK again and no Audio through the Speaker.
So, First I was thinking HW, then SW, tried Factory Reset.. no Help at all.. same issue..
Then, I flashed ROM to the latest Stock JB 4.1.2 XWLS8 Spanish ROM floating about the forums and This fixed it.. Perfect sound. No Hiccups.. :good:
Just wanted to share this..
LMS..
I've had a very strange issue crop up yesterday. My external speaker (the one on the back of the phone) volume has suddenly become very very low, you have to hold it to your ear to hear anything. The headphones and all are working fine
OS: CM11 M8 - been using this for over a week now
Stuff I've tried
1. I don't think I installed any app or made any update that would make the speaker behave this way.
2. I've checked the volume panel and all are at full. I've tried using multiple music players/alarms etc to see if it works and the volume is extremely low in all of them.
3. I've tried rebooting the phone.
Please help
Edit: a couple of forums say that it might be due to the headphone jack not recognizing that headphones have been removed. Seems possible since my speaker is not crackling/buzzing and gives clear sound but at a very very low volume level. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?
Help ... tried cleaning the headphone jack, removing the battery and restarting the phone. Not willing to do a factory reset if it's a hardware fault
What do you suggest ?
Got it solved, and in a very strange way
Restored my orignal 4.0 rom with twrp image. That suddenly caused all my speakers to start working. Moved back to the CM image and everything still works fine
Weird but true, mods can you add solved to the title
Okay so this is the most bizarre problem I have ever had with my phone. I am running stock 4.4.2 on a D6503 Z2 on AT&T's network. Rooted and running xposed.
Ear buds in questions are skull candy inked 2 (yeah I know they're a crap brand)
So on to the actual problem at hand:
This morning my ear buds just randomly stopped working when plugged in; outputting the sound through the external speakers instead. Found a temporary work around by switching the text to speech output from Google to Pico TTS. Ear buds worked again and the phone was recognizing that ear buds were plugged in, but sound switched to external speakers when the phone went to sleep or got a notification. A soft reboot seemed to fix this if I also changed the TTS output. That worked for about two hours and then TTS trick ceased working for me.
Once I got home, I tested other headphones and there is no issue with any of the three pairs I tried. Here is where it gets weird though, the skullcandy ear buds work just fine on everything else! I tried it on my Z1 tablet and my old HTC one x. Working fine. I am waiting for my boyfriend to come home to test on his phone because he also owns the D6503 Z2. so I will likely come back and edit to see if the problem is reproduced on that hardware.
The only things that have been done to it recently (last night) is a sizable (5 gigs or so) photo transfer off my phone to my desktop to free up some space and I downloaded an app called timely. Uninstalled timely to see if maybe that was the issue but no dice. Also updated a ton of my existing apps last night (amazon, battery widget reborn, cat alone, es file, google keep, hulu, light flow, netflix, swype, twitter, snapchat, uber, videostream, and youtube) Not sure if that is relevant but can't hurt to include as much info as possible.
What the heck is going on here?

to understand correctly what is issue u should first remove all 3rd party tools and customization
and then test ur device
when ur phone don't work with other device it means there 2 way communication that should be compatible on both sides.
what is ur headset?
:good:

skull candy inked 2.
The same problem is replicated on my boyfriends z2 that is running stock + xposed so i'm thinking its something with xposed. I'm not concerned enough to uninstall all of that one by one to see whats doing it i'll probably just get new headphones.
Hi! I have a problem with my m4. The mic seems to turn off when i switch to loudspeaker during a call or if i start a fb messenger call with camera on. However the mic works fine with normal calls, i can record, use google speech etc. Mic test succeeded. Safe mode on and the same thing happens. I have put newest rom for central europe 26.1.A.2.147, wiped all possible data via flashtool and even on clean phone without any apps the problem still exists. I did not change any settings or so. It is just the mic not working when i wany to use loudspeaker ( the onr on the bottom of the phone). I also had issues with lower volume levels than in other m4, but here the rom update might help - i will see in fee days as i did rom update today. Do You have any idea what is wrong? The phone never had contact with water etc.

I have the same Issue, I already made a hard reset but the problem remains. Have you had any progress on this?
Totally nothing. I hope service will fix it.
Same Problem here
Guys did found how to fix this?
Hi, guys.
I had the same issue but it has fixed itself already. Yesterday I wanted to show my friend that on loudspeaker 2nd mic doesn't work but... It worked. I was shocked, I hadn't done anything special. Maybe it was some app issue that is uninstalled now, or that was a virus? I don't know, however it works now.
I m also facing the same issue on my m4 my voice doesnt goes through loudspeaker mode during calls.
I went to the service centr n they r also failed to solv this problem.

Sony microphone doesn't work with loud speaker on
I'm having exactly the same problem with my Sony Xperia M4 Dual Aqua. When the loud speaker (audio output) is on, the microphone doesn't work anymore. I can't be heard by the person on the other end of the phone. Has anyone found a fix to this? The phone has 2 microphones, so maybe there's a conflict with the speaker and microphone or maybe the second microphone doesn't work - anyone got any ideas?
Anyone solved it yet?
I have e2333
I removed memory card and restarted phone, and it worked, i think memory card is interfering with noise cancellation mic, bcoz when you test the mic with audio recorder, you will find noise cancellation mic is low

Thx for sharing,i tried to do this but still like before. I have e2333 too,n it had marshmallow official update last night but didnt solve the problem
it has nothing to do with any software issue or any thing with memory card. all it has to do is with its headphone jack. it permanently recognizes that a headset with mic is connected so it lets the primary mic non functional. and it is probably due to moisture in the motherboard connecting the jack or may b due to numerous fall from heights that lets the jack very lose. try inserting a headphone leave that headphone for a while let ur device get heated up by heavy use or over charging. then remove the jack test the mic again it shall work. if not repeat the procedure again and again till it works. and this method has been tested by me as well as several other users in my proximity. so all the best guys hope it works for ya too. important thing is it might stop working again. so keep repeating

remove your SD card and reboot, if not working flash without SD Card, and if Not Working Repair Your rom with Xperia Companion And Feedback.
I ended up with what I thought was a broken earpiece speaker: During calls, I could not hear anything through my earpiece, but putting the call to speakerphone worked.
Also, all media palyback was mute (youtube, VLC, audiobook player ...). Headphones continued to work. I played around with all the audio settings, nothing.
So I assumed a broken earpiece and ordered a new one. I took my MI5 apart and replaced the earpiece, but nothing changed: Earpiece stayed silent, headphones and speaker worked.
By that, I already factory reseted and flashed new LOS builds and firmwares back and forth. No change.
Yesterday I came up with the idea to write an app that routes all audio to my surround speaker ... I researched the Playstore to check if anything like that already existed, and I came up with an app called SoundAbout which I used to route all audio to the speaker instead of the earpiece.
So far so good.
But even better: I configured it to route all media sounds from "let app decide" to "earpiece", and to my surprise it worked!
Setting it back to "let app decide", I dont hear anything: The setting "earpiece" makes it working again.
My question is: The issue is clearly software related, somehow I managed to break my audio routing, which survives flashing new builds and even factory resets as far as I can tell.
I am on official LOS 20170425, 7.4.14 firmware, official su addon. No custom kernel, no magisk or any battery saving trickery ...
Does anyone have an idea what I can check to fix my audio routing again? Anyone experienced something similar? I will buy that SoundAbout app because it just saved me from buying a new MI5/MI5s/MI6, but I would still like to understand how I managed to break my audio routing like this. The fact that it survivd factory resets makes me think it might be firmware related (I am using the ones from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/tool-flashable-firmware-twrp-easy-t3474898) ...
Ok, after several months, I finally figured it out.
It was not a firmware issue after all, but hardware: My 3.5mm audio headphone jack was blocked, meaning the trigger for detecting a headphone was jammed.
The phone constantly thought a headphone was inserted, and so switched to headphone mode, trying to play all sounds and media to the headphone audio port where nothing was present.
Thats the reason why e.g. SoundAbout was a working workaround: It simply ignores the headphone-inserted-trigger and forces all audio to speaker or earpiece.
I found out about the b,ocked trigger with another tool that simply shows if a headphone was inserted or not, and that tool constantly showed that something was inserted.
Unfortunately you cannot get a replacement headphone-jack for the MI5 (redmi and mi4s are available, but no mi5 for some reason), only the whole mainboard for 140$. But I took my MI5 apart anywayto see if I can get that trigger unstuck (tried a small needle and qtip before, but didnt work). I could not get it unstuck, and instead removed the whole headphone jack from my MI5 mainboard, meaning I actually broke a small piece of my mainboard out ... but it worked nontheless: Now that the audio port is gone, my phone no longer thinks a headphone is present, and all audio issues are gone.
Now that I removed the audio port I obvously can no longer use my headphones, so I ordered an usb-type-c-to-audio-adapter for 5$ (after checking that xiaomi usb-type-c headphones cost 50$, which I consider waaaayy too expensive).
So, if anyone has a similar problem where it looks like your phone doesnt play any audio, check out "headset toggle" from the play store to see if the headphone-trigger is broken.
